The second match of the 2023 Hogwarts Quidditch season will now take place between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. The winner, decided by Dee using random chance, is Ravenclaw. The weather today is light snow. The air is clear and cold, and the snow isn't enough to impede vision outside of the Snitch. Please keep in mind that we have a three-day deadline on each new post in Quidditch threads. Failure to meet your deadline will result in removal from the Quidditch team (if a player) and lowered priority as a poster in future Quidditch threads (whether a player or not). Here is an example of how the posting deadlines work, using Neville and Carcer. This thread is being posted on Novermber 29. The first post, owed by Neville, is due no later than December 2, three days from now. 1.) If Neville posts on December 2, Carcer, the next poster, must post by December 5, three days later. 2.) But if Neville posts on November 30, Carcer's post is due by December 3 instead. This is still a three-day deadline. A three-day deadline is more than fair in these threads, as you have advance knowledge of what your post needs to contain, as well as what the posts before yours will contain. You can easily have your post written well in advance of your due date, with maybe minor changes here and there based on what the people before you post. Quidditch Team Claim for referenceWith all that said, let's begin!

The Match Begins
The day was finally here. Ravenclaw against Hufflepuff. Lavinia, though not a Quidditch player by any means, had been looking forward to this match for weeks. No, really. You know those couple students that went all out when a game was planned? She was one of them, decked out from head to toe in blue. She was humming a merry tune as she jogged, almost ran, towards the pitch, stopping every Ravenclaw player she saw to wish them good luck. Before reaching the pitch she spotted one of her friends that was on the Hufflepuff team. "Lloyd!" She yelled to get his attention as she ran to catch up, grinning like a fool. "No hard feelings when we crush you, right? River, hurry up!" She turned, waving to flag down the poor boy who hadn't quite caught up after her thoughtlessly abandoned him. Oops. Well... He'd catch up eventually! Without waiting for him, again, she rushed off with that same skip in her step.
Everyone was settling into their seats, both teams in their locker rooms, probably getting one last pep talk from the captains. Lavinia leaned over the edge, her gaze intent on the field below. There was a microphone a few inches from her hand, currently turned off. As soon as the players were ready though, Liv would be the commentator. Something she was a little to excited about.
She spotted movement down on the field. Was that... Yes it was. Figures in yellow. The Hufflepuff team, and on the other side of the field the Ravenclaws. She sat up quickly, and flicked the microphone on. "Ladies, gentlemen, and rambunctious scamps of all shapes and sizes! The Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff teams have taken to the field! You better not blink, because this is going to be an AMAZING match!" She greeted, her excited voice projected across the entire pitch. The players took their positions, mounted their brooms and waited for the match to begin.
"Oh! There go the bludgers! Nasty buggers, wouldn't want to get hit by one of them! And the Quaffle's up!" And so the match began...

The First Goal
Their announcer was dressed in blue. Way to be unbiased, Jamie thought to herself as she walked onto the field, broomstick in hand. Well, there wasn’t a clause in the announcer policy that said they weren’t allowed to show team spirit, but still, was all of that absolutely necessary? Jamie tried not to think about it. She needed to focus on the game, not on the crowd. The cold of the air was certainly helping with the focus, Jamie thought as she mounted her broom. When the whistle sounded, she kicked firmly against the ground, and took off.
There was no more thought of the announcer or the crowd or anything but the broom as soon as her feet left the ground. This was what it felt like to be alive. Air was rushing around her – around all of them – in rivulets, with tiny eddies of snow swirling occasionally by. It was like a scene from a movie, Jamie thought to herself with a smile. Now, if only something suitably dramatic could happen…
Fate humored Jamie. In a succession of moments that were strong together more like a series of photographs than an actual memory, the Quaffle fell into her hands. Electricity coursed through her (not actually, of course, considering it didn’t work on the castle grounds), and Jamie was off towards the goal posts. It was as if some invisible force was guiding her, allowing her to slalom through the bodies and brooms as if they didn’t exist at all. Her broom usually didn’t corner well, but it seemed to be having a particularly good day. Either that, or she was having a pretty good day. If it was the latter, it was probably because of the snow. She loved snow.
Maybe this was an omen of good things to come. The Quaffle flew through the hoop, a blur of scarlet against the grey of the sky. The Hufflepuff was surprised to find that only one single minute had elapsed in the game; it was quick, and it was clean, and more than anything, it was a sign of an amazing game to come.

Iron Defense
Masin was pleased to here Lavinias voice over the stadium. That crazy kid had a way of making any situation lighthearted but sound seriously important at the same time. Masin couldn't really do the lighthearted part herself, so it was nice to have that contrast in the air as the teams got ready to take off.
The game started, and Masin flew to her goal posts- her resolution strong. She was unsurprised when Jamie got possession of the quaffle, scoring against Ravenclaw in one fell swoop. That meant it was Ravenclaws turn for possession, but Masin was ready for them... Moreta took possession of the quaffle and burst toward Masin with incredible speed and agility, but Masin was ready for it... as Moreta took the shot, Masin swiftly push toward the far left goal at smacked the quaffle with great force. She laughed loudly as the crowd cheered but didn't have much time to relish before Ethan sped toward her.
For a moment, she hesitated. Only a few short hours ago she spoke with him, seeing the scars on his skin and the bruises.... but still, when the time came and Ethan tried to score, Masin blocked the Quaffle with even more force than the first shot. She gave Ethan an apologetic little shrug, to which he laughed. That almost distracted her as the third Chaser came bounding toward her once more and Masin nearly missed blocking that one, but she still did. When Masin set her mind to something, she was determined to make it go her way. It was time for Ravenclaw to try a new tactic, however, for taking her by surprise wasn't going to work...

The Second Goal Not even 5 minutes had passed and Hufflepuff had a leg up on Ravenclaw. Well that wouldn't do. With a flick of his wrist, Liam flipped his bat over, spinning it in the air, before catching the handle again. Watching his teammates he muffled a sigh when Masin blocked the quaffle not once, but twice. It looked like it was his turn to change the tides. He sped through the air, moving right toward her. There was a bludger madly trying to hit players on that end of the field. He only needed to get to it and then they could score. As he weaved between the players he caught sight of Ethan getting hold of the quaffle. It was now or never. The bludger was in sight, he was almost... Cordelia flew past him, moving to intercept the quaffle. Her hair was streaming behind her and he could have sworn he caught a wiff of some sort of perfume. That must have been his imagination. But did it matter? His eyes followed her as he slowed down. She was majestic on her broom, as if she belonged there. Though honestly, she could be anywhere and look amazing. As she flew farther and farther away from him a little piece of his mind hissed at him. She is dating your best friend and you are trying to beat her at Quidditch. But that piece of his mind didn't seem to matter. "It looks like something has happened to Ravenclaw beater Davies..." The announcers voice shocked him out of his stupor. The rest of what she said was drowned out as his brain started to function again. Idiot, he chided himself. He couldn't afford to get all moon-eyed. Not right now. He leaned forward on his broom. He had to get his head in the game. He shot through the air. Ethan was almost to the goal. The wind whipped his Quidditch robes around his legs violently, but he ignored them. He had to get to that bludger. Then, as if it had heard his thoughts, the bludger came racing toward him. Liam grinned and pulled his arm back and let it rush forward. CRACK The bludger was sent careening toward the end of the field. The moment he had hit it, he knew it was a good swing. The bludger soared right at Masin. It clipped her shoulder and sent her spinning away from the goal posts. Ethan threw the ball and a bell rang announcing a goal for Ravenclaw. up next:@ethanjohnson

Ethan cheered as Liam helped him get a goal in. Masin was a force to be reckoned with, and he knew that. Luckily he had taught his team several ways to get past her-- at least the best that they could. Liam had used a great tactic, and it was perfectly executed. "Good job, mate!" Once Masin was thrown off they needed to act fast in order to get Moreta to the goal posts to make another goal. Hufflepuff was in possession and Jamie was speeding toward the Goal Posts. Ethan whistled and Liam and Adeliade both targeted the other two chasers, making it near impossible for Jamie to pass.
Ethan and Moreta took that chance to take position so that Jamie couldn't get to the goal posts. They were basically forcing her to pass until Jamie finally had to try a pass to Cordie, who Liam left Cordie open for a moment. The plan was for Moreta to intercept, but Cordie was too fast, taking control of the Quaffle. Ethan couldn't help but smile as this happened, even if it left his team in a bit of an awkward spot. They were placed for stealing it, not for blocking Cordie from scoring...
As she neared the goal posts, Ethan sped after her, calling Liam over to help. Soon he and Liam both were on either side of Cordelia. Ethan gave Liam a signal, and the beater sped away as if he had another task to do. "Good flying, Cord. And coaching too. I can tell your teams been hard at work," he complimented as the flew side by side, shoulder to shoulder as he tried to throw her off. Finally, Liam acted tossing a bludger their way and Ethan shot downward just in time to barely missing the thing as it flew toward Cordie.
Cordia dodged, but this caused her to drop the Quaffle. As Ethan caught it he burst back toward the goal posts, back toward Masin. He stared her down, keeping the Hufflepuff keeper fixed on him until at the last second he passed Moreta the Quaffle, and she scored.

The Fourth Goal Growing up with friends like Abigail and James, Alice had grown to enjoy Quidditch games as an audience member. She would never be caught dead on a broom. Maybe it was the heights... but Alice was almost certain the pressure the teams always had to be under weighed them down, too. Today's match was against her own house and Ravenclaw, the house she had spent her childhood dreaming about and her adolescence loathing. Usually Alice was only half into the game, hardly paying much attention to detail but this time around was different as she was attending the game with Carcer Hagrid. The two were in the Hufflepuff student section, which was alive with spirit at every goal and every block. It was actually... fun. And Alice was actually paying attention.
Ravenclaw was one up, and a sound of disappoint waved through the badgers. But they weren't disappointed for long. Alice had to hand it to her house, for a team mostly consisting of girls, their chasing techniques were very aggressive. The Quaffle was thrown back in after the Ravenclaw score and Cordelia Finch-Fletchley had possession of it once again. She was able to dodge another bludger thrown her way by Adelaide Shacklebolt and then she quickly passed to another Chaser, who got some more distance between she and the Ravenclaw Chasers before passing it on to Jamie Greyback. The Ravenclaw Chasers seemed to catch on to their tactic, but it looked like that was what the girls wanted, as just when Ethan and Moreta were about to swing in for a steal, Jamie dodged them and flung the Quaffle back at Cordelia who then scored right in the middle hoop.
Another cheer erupted from the Hufflepuff stands and Alice was among the many applauding for their fellow badgers.

Collision Sophia had been freaking out about the match up until her feet left the ground. Up in the air, it felt like a weight had been lifted off her chest. Snowflakes clung to her hair as she glided through the air, circling the pitch above most the other players. She heard ever score, the cheers, the boos. From the sound of the commentator, a far to outspoken Ravenclaw girl, the teams were currently tied at twenty points each. She was sure the Hufflepuff team was doing well, as she'd been over the Ravenclaw supporters during a particularly aggressive push to get past Masin, and heard their groans. She grinned at that.
Swooping down lower to the ground, she tried to stay clear of the mad chasing game, dodging the other players and bludgers that came her way with ease. No one was really aiming for her though, so it was quite easy. It was to early for the snitch to have been spotted. She always kept an eye on her competition, Dominique Weasley, though. Just in case.
Out of no where, something slammed into Sophia, completely blindsiding her.
Spiraling out of control the hufflepuff grabbed hold of the broom with a death grip just as she smacked into one of the spectator stands. Normally, hitting one of the stands would cause serious injury and end with the player in the hospital wing. Today it was a blessing, and gave Sophia just enough time to get control of her broom once more, and try and piece together what had happened. A bludger was the logical answer, but neither of them had been anywhere close to her...
"Oh! And that's a foul on the Ravenclaw team! One of the Ravenclaw beaters just hit Hufflepuff's seeker. Looks like we'll have a penalty shot..." Sophia tuned out the rest. So that was what happened. As she hovered there for a moment, still stunned by the impact, she realized that she was actually fine. She'd been injured playing Quidditch before, and this just felt like a normal beating, nothing serious. Both of the Hufflepuff beaters were suddenly racing to this side of the pitch, to which Sophia raised a hand and smiled. "I'm fine." she said when they were within earshot and she spotted that concerned look on Zander's face.
Cordelia was given the honor of taking their penalty shot, her aim holding true as the Quaffle flew beautifully through the air and through one of the rings. Meanwhile, Sophia returned to her circling above the pitch. She was shaken, but she'd get over it quickly. For now, she couldn't afford to dwell on the collision... Especially because the Ravenclaws had the quaffle once again.

I am the misery you crave Retaliation Addie truly hadn't meant to hit the Hufflepuff seeker. She had been trying to smack a Bludger and simultaneously dodge the other one, leading to the collision. She cursed herself as the other house scored their penalty shot. She had to pay closer attention. But the other team's beaters didn't seem to think that the whole accident was just that - an accident. The next thing Addie knew, both Bludgers were flying toward her, each one directed by a Hufflepuff beater. "Oh, come on!" she shouted, dodging around the iron balls. "It was an accident!" Even more infuriating was the fact that Zander was participating in trying to get her killed. They were supposed to be friends, after all. Scowling, Addie went after one of the Bludgers and slammed it back toward the Hufflepuff beaters. They retaliated by getting hold of both of the Bludgers and hitting them toward Dominique. That made Addie mad. Beyond mad. There was no reason to target the Ravenclaw seeker. Addie followed the balls and whacked them both back toward the beaters. It was a lot of back and fort for awhile. But Addie's odds weren't the best. Her fellow beater tried to protect Dominique while Addie was left to deal with both of the Hufflepuff beaters. No matter how many times she yelled, they refused to believe her collision with their seeker was an accident. Suddenly, a cheer erupted from the crowd. Addie looked down at the field. While she and the other beaters had been distracted, Ravenclaw had scored another goal, again tying up the score. Addie smiled smugly. The beaters had wasted their time getting unnecessary payback on Addie, and while they were focused on her, Ravenclaw scored right under their noses. In Addie's opinion, it was a fair trade. Back on Track Always very aware of what was going on around her, Cordelia had turned just in time to see one of the beaters on the other team collide into Sophia. To Cordie, it seemed like an accident but she held her breath as she watched Sophia head toward the stands. She was relieved to see she was okay and that they still had their seeker in game. Cordelia returned her attention to the Quaffle and headed off in its direction, currently in the hands of Ethan. The Ravenclaws were passing back and forth relentlessly. No matter how close Cordie or her teammates got, it was too late and the Ravenclaws had already passed off to one another. It was as if the beaters weren't even paying attention anymore as a red head in blue flew past Cordelia followed by a bludger that Cordelia had to duck to miss as well. Instantly Cordelia turned around and saw just exactly where the beaters had all been, just in time to hear Ravenclaw score.
Cordelia's mouth formed a thin, angry line as she flew over to the beaters, calling for a time out and setting herself between the beaters of opposite teams. "Enough!" She shouted at the Hufflepuff beaters. "It was an accident! Get your heads out of the gutter and back into the game! You just cost us a point!" She pointed to the Ravenclaw goals where Masin guarded and gave the beaters one last glare of disappointment. She turned around briefly and muttered an apology to the Ravenclaw beaters, making eye contact with Liam for just a moment. She flashed him a small smile before heading back to the middle of the field and signaling to the referee that she was ready to resume.

where was the damned snitch. it was turning in a heck of a game and she wanted it to be over. both teams seemed to be taking a beating and she had friends on both sides. though she knew if she didn't get the snitch she'd be a little bitter about it. she had a competitive streak in her. she leaned forward on the broom, ducking a bludger that had been sent her way and slipped past the beater than was tailing her. so far there had been two accidents on either side. one involving one of their chasers who seemed to be okay, dom hoped anyway. the other was the hufflepuff seeker, as much as dom hated to think it it would give her an edge when she found the snitch, if sophie was too shaken up to really go for it. thinking about the snitch and then suddenly there it was, the little silver ball shooting up just in front of her and out of her reach. the red haired seeker leaned forward on her broom, catching sight of sophie flying down the pitch toward her and the little golden ball. dom leaned forward further, feeling the broom speed up as the wind and snow blew past her face, her hair turning into a tangled mess behind her. she leaned to the side, chasing the snitch around one of the seating towers. it was going to play hard to catch was it, well that made it all the more fun. when the snitch suddenly veered away from them she saw one of their chasers flying toward her, chasing the snitch back toward her. she grinned and shifted her weight ont he broom so it followed the snitch, her hand reaching out her grip tight on her broom as most of her body stretched to help her get the snitch. she yelled in triumph as she felt her fingers close around the little golden ball, slipping her leg around the broom and letting her weight shift so she hung from the broom by a leg, relaxing a little as she caught her breath before she got herself seated on the broom again and flew down toward her team mates and ethan, holding the snitch up for them to see.
