"Perhaps, but that doesn't make it any easier for you." he listened to his parents, really he was listening as he sat between them on the couch in the middle of the living room that he had grown up in. in the house that he had grown up in. the walls were covered in pictures, the dents in the walls and the floors held memories of growing up and that was what it was. home. he nodded a little at their words, knowing they were true. "i know dad, but it should" he would get over this, not let it hold him down forever but he needed the time. since liv andy had been the first person al had opened himself up to in that way and now it was gone. "I'm going to make some tea and we all can just relax, okay?" he smiled a little and tilted his head to look at his mother, the light from behind them catching his green eyes and he nodded a little. "tea sounds great mum" he said as he shifted to rub hisfingers over his lower back a little, feeling the ache grow stronger. "Do you guys want to join me? We could make some cookies too?" baking cookies? when was the last time he had ever baked cookies. well he had done it as a kid but he was sure the last time had been with his grandmother at least four christmases ago in the kitchen at the burrow. "chocolate chip? and let's not limit ourselves .. how about a cookie mountain .." he said as he used the back of the chair to push himself up to his feet with a wince. as much as he was trying to hide it his parents knew he was still hurting .. he just wasn't about to tell them how much.

Harry's smile grew as Ginny took charge of the situation. Tea and cookies, that is what she would have done before, too. But she would have had some cookies already made. Somehow, this seemed better. Make cookies together. That was a sure way to make sure this day had a happy memory. "Cookies sounds great, love. And we better make a mountain. You don't remember, but Albus can pack those cookies in." he teased winking at his son playfully. Albus winced as he got up and Harry frowned in thought. He had assumed his son was almost back to 100%, minus the crutches of course. But everyone knows what assuming does... Standing beside his son Harry made sure to be ready to catch him if the need arose. He wasn't sure he would be able to catch him, his strength seemed to be failing him. Maybe he needed to start working out with Ron, that would be fun. And it would help him get back on his feet, which he needed. This cold or whatever it was, was really playing a number on his health.

Ginny laughed as Harry said Albus could pack those cookies in. "Perfect, you two get started on that mountain and I'll make the tea," she said, waving her arm to lead them into the kitchen. Soon the three were at work, Ginny on one end of the counter and the men on the other. Once the tea was done she brought it over for them to drink while the mountain was nearing completion. "You know, I've never had that much of a sweet tooth but I would eat anything and everything my mother made," she chuckled. Then her eyes widened her eyes at them. "I hope I've been a fairly good cook for you guys all these years... have I?" it was a strange question to ask, of course, but they were in a strange situation. Plus, she was hoping to keep Al's mind off the girl for now.

"Cookies sounds great, love. And we better make a mountain. You don't remember, but Albus can pack those cookies in." he rolled his eyes at his father's words as he stood up. he saw his dad shift as if ready to catch him and he gave him a quick almost smile. "aches a bit is all. i'm fine" he wondered if he said what with enough conviction as he turned to move into the kitchen slowly, one step at a time so he didn't end up flat on his back or with his nose flattened by the floor. "Perfect, you two get started on that mountain and I'll make the tea," he got to the counter and nodded. "yes ma'am" he said as he touched two fingers to his forehead in a mock salute as he started working on the cookies with his father. well the cookie mountain. it felt nice but odd at the same time. he still couldn't remember the last time he had baked cookies with his mother .. he didn't think he'd ever done it with his father but then his memory was sketchy from the age of eight and back. he'd never been able to recall much about his childhood. "You know, I've never had that much of a sweet tooth but I would eat anything and everything my mother made," albus nodded a little. he was a bit the same. there was just some things you didn't do and that was say no to grandma molly. "I hope I've been a fairly good cook for you guys all these years... have I?" he glanced at her before sneaking a sideways glance to his dad and he moved to lean in a little to mock whisper to his mother. "well we always preferred your cooking to dads .. you at least never tried to poison us" he said, joking of course as he moved to straightened and finished the cookie he was working on.

Harry gaped in mock outrage.
"Poison! I would never do that on purpose! It is not like there was any possible way I could have known meat went bad if you didn't use it within a week!" he protested with a smile on his face, cracking the eggs into the cookie bowl, careful to not get the shells in it. He elbowed Albus gently and playfully. "It is not like you died." Honestly, his cooking had gotten much better since then. Ginny had given him pointers and then over the last few months Molly had been giving him lessons.

Ginny laughed loudly as Harry and Albus talked about the poisons of a time Harry had cooked for him. She was blissful in that moment, almost feeling as if she actually belonged there, as if she knew what she was doing with herself. She had seen Harry cook since she moved back in and it didn't seem that bad. The three spent the rest of the afternoon together, just them, making and eating cookies and just having an overall good time. It almost felt like they could stay like that forever with no problems, no ex girlfriends, no school, no memory loss... just two parents and their son, living happily. @crystal7 @al (the end
