Ophelia was asleep. This was the second time that she had slept at her new school, but instead of sleeping in her bed, she fell asleep in that big chair by the fireplace. She was curled up, one arm under her head and the other clinging onto a leather bound sketch book. a pencil and eraser on the floor, as if she had kicked them off during the night. Luckily there was no class that day, but the loud clatter of students leaving to enjoy the beautiful, school free day, woke her. She sat up looking dazed and stared at the hot coals, just starting to go out. She looked around, squinting in the sunlight. She wiped some drool off of her face as some students came down, in hushed tones they seemed to mock her appearance. At that Lia sat more upright, realizing the position she was in, she stood up and stretched. Her body had grown so accustomed to the chair that it creaked a little as it reluctantly moved. She would be a little sore, but it was worth it.
After stretching, She felt her hair, it seemed alright, except for the big fluffy side that she was sleeping on. She did her best to finger bursh it down to normal, and started to collect her things. She decided that she would get ready and go out and try to do something. But before she was able to do anything. She was approached by a girl.

”I’m sorry we haven’t met yet,” Masin said as she approached the new student. She had come into the common room only moments before to see her sleeping on the chair, looking a bit sloppy. She sat across the room with Cordelia to do her studying, but glanced back as the girl woke up. Now was as good a time as any to introduce herself.
”I’m Head Girl, Masin DeLisle. Things have been a bit crazy around here, so I’m sorry I wasn’t able to greet you on your arrival. Have you enjoyed school so far?” businesslike, serious, standing up straight-- that was Masin in a situation like this. Plus, right now, she couldn’t afford to be emotional.

Ophelia shook her head, feeling a little foolish. ”No I don’t think we have.” Even if they had, she would have forgotten her name. But this girl seemed nice. She appeared to older than Ophelia. Feeling a little self conscious Ophelia, once again tried to fix her hair, and appear a little presentable.
The girl sat in a chair across the way, it looked like she was studying. Head girl? It sounded important. Ophelia seemed to remember something about that when she first came, but something distracted her. Maybe it was one of the ghosts, or a picture talking to her. But by the name, it seemed important. Probably was. Especially because she brought it up during the introduction. ”Ophelia.” She said plainly. ”Oh...Well, Ophelia Leventhrope. The school is...well it’s big. It’s the biggest place I’ve ever lived in.” With her parents traveling and studying dragons, she lived around, usually staying in smaller dwellings. But she knew were her classes were, and where the kitchen, great hall and the Hufflepuff dorm rooms were. That was the most important. @delisle

"Ophelia. Beautiful name. Why haven't you joined us til now? If you don't mind my asking," she said getting comfortable in her seat on the chair beside the girl. She chuckled, "yes, Hogwarts is rather big, isn't it?" she had only lived in a penthouse of source in downtown London, so it was rather large to her as well. Penthouses were just like big expensive apartments that took the whole floor of some fancy building. It was the city-slickers version of a mansion, really. Still, Hogwarts was much, much bigger than that. She watched as the girl tried to fix her hair from her awkward napping and found herself smirking. This girl would be nice to have around, someone who didn't have all the pain of the last year in her eyes. Masin almost felt calm herself, seeing this girls innocence.

”Thank you. I was homeschooled by my parents. They were planning on having me join at the start of next year, but the decided to throw me in earlier than that.” She didn’t really want to mention what she had done to expedite the process. ”But my parents thought that I needed more social interaction with kids my own age. There aren’t many of those when it comes to Romania. At least in the area’s where the dragons are.” She looked at the girl. Things seemed to be falling from business to more friendly, which helped Ophelia relax a bit.
It took a few minutes of silence, but Ophelia finally blurted out a question that had been on her mind for quite a while. ”Is there a place where students are allowed, and that the one could see….maybe some….magical creatures?” She loved animals was so used to spending all day around them. So it was hard being away from them. ”I mean after classes.”

Home schooled? What a fascinating thought that was... 'Romania? Your parents work with dragons, then?" she guessed as the girl went on. Then she asked about Magical creatures and Masin smiled, "we have a magical creatures club! My best friend is a part of it, actually, and so is Carcer Hagrid," she pointed to an incredibly tall person on the other side of the room. 'He's a half giant. If you care about animals, he's the one to talk to. Alice is rather savvy with them too," she looked around the room for the blonde, gesturing when she found her, "but she's not as talkative as Carcer would be. Either way, you should talk to them. I'm not so... into animals," she chuckled, her smile wide.

Ophelia nodded. ”Dad’s a Dragonologist and mums a magizoologist. They are both studying dragons though.” She was happy to talk about it, but a little sad to think about her parents around dragons and other creatures, and she was stuck in this dark big castle.
The girl told her that there was a club, and Ophelia couldn’t help but light up. There was a club where students could get together and all they did was talk, and maybe see magical creatures!! It must have been to good to be true! She kept talking. Wait did she say Hagrid? Why did that last name sound so familiar? Ophelia looked at the boy she was pointing out. He looked just like her new friend. BJ? No that was wrong. ”Does he have a younger brother?” She had to know. She was looking at the young man, he had similarities to her friend that she had made earlier. Ophelia had already forgotten the names that the girl had mentioned, but she now knew both of their faces. She could use that to her advantage. But she would talk with him later. When she was more...presentable. She smiled at the girl who admitted that she wasn’t to into animals. ”That’s ok. So what are you into.” Now that they were talking, Ophelia thought she would try to help the conversation along. Did she do it alright? It didn’t seem awkward, until she started to think about it. @delisle

Masin nodded, "great career choices," and she meant it too. Working with dragons and magical creatures was a very noble and important thing to be doing. At her question about Carcer, she nodded. "Yes, RJ. He's in our house too. Have you met him, then?" she asked. Then the girl asked what she liked to do, what she was interested in and she hesitated. It took many years for Masin to really love anything, let alone decided what she wanted to do. When she was little she was just a Barbie doll to her mother, a little fashion mannequin. It was weird to come to school and start making her own choices. But once she started, she didn't stop. "I like fashion, really, and I like being able to help people," she said. "I like making decisions that affect the masses," she chuckled.

Ophelia smiled and nodded. She loved her parent’s careers, and she knew that she would follow them, she just had to pick which one. ”Yea, RJ and I met the other day. He’s nice.” RJ! that was his name! She needed to do better at remembering that. He was her first friend at Hogwarts. The girl seemed excited to talk about Ophelia, and her interests, but seemed to stop and hesitate when the tables had turned. But finally she spoke. ”That’s really cool. Do you draw your own designs, or just like to help people look better?” Mostly an assumption, but she was mostly interested if the girl drew. @delisle

"I don't design, no," Masin explained, moving past the conversation about meeting RJ and possibly speaking with Alice and Carcer about animals, "my mothers a designer. I've been..." she chuckled, "extensively trained in what looks good. Sometimes against my will." At that she reached forward, gently fixing the girls collar with both hands. "Sleeping on a couch like that doesn't necessarily flatter, though," she giggled this time, smiling with that sweet but slightly condensing smile as she pulled her hands back.
"Are your parents still in Romania?" she continued.

”Oh, Ophelia felt a little bad mentioning it, but then she went on. ”That’s cool, well not the against your will part, but maybe I'll ask your advice on an outfit.” She was mostly talking about when she wasn't wearing her uniform. Then the girl fixed Ophelia’s collar and the girl went a little red. Not because of the girl, but because, once again, she was embarrassed, that she had fallen asleep in the chair. Turning redder still she said ”I know. I didn't mean to. I was just so tired. the girl knew that she had trouble sleeping, so when she got really tired, she had a habit of just taking a nap, when it was convenient. Ophelia laughed a little.
Ophelia nodded in response to her question. ”Yea. There still there. What about you, where is your family?” She felt as if she the conversation should keep going, and she felt guilty making the other girl do all the work. @delisle

Masin shrugged, not showing any sort of discomfort about this converastoin. "We're blessed with uniforms here, thank heavens, so people can't make as much of fools with themselves. But I'ld love to help you whenever we're in casual dress," she said with a bright smile. Then the girl explained that she was tired which was why she had fallen asleep out in public. "Don't sweat it, I'm sure you won't do it again after this time," she suggested.
"Awe, my mother is still in London living in our flat. My father travels a lot. I don't see or care much for either of them," blunt honesty Masin, she didn't even bat an eye, "but you seem rather family oriented. It's a good thing."
"So, what's your favorite class so far?"

Ophelia nodded, and gave a bit of a chuckle when the girl mentioned the uniforms. Then she offered to help whenever she was wearing casual cloths. Ophelia’s smile widened. She didn’t think she had bad fashion, but she traveled her entire life with her parents. She would like to try to fit in, and she thought dressing well could be one of those ways. ”I’d like that. Thanks.”
After explaining that she was tired and just had fallen asleep, the girl spoke. She seemed to comfort Ophelia, but atthe same time hint that it was something that she shouldn't’ do again. She smiled at the older girl and nodded, agreeing with the statement. She would need to get into the habit of going to her bed when she felt super tired.
Ophelia was surprised that she didn’t care much to see either of her parents. Ophelia loved her parents, and loved spending time with them. The girls bluntness surprised Ophelia, but she tried to keep things positive and going.”I’ve never been to London.” She admitted. ”I mean, I’ve been to Diagon Alley go get school stuff, but I’ve never seen the city.” She quickly corrected herself. She smiled again as the girl mentioned how family oriented she was and that it was good. ”I think it’s kind of hard not to be, when that’s all you have. I mean, there were other researchers, but they came and went, and they were all older than me.... obviously.” She did meet many kids around her age, but they never seemed to stick around for long.
The girl then changed the subject and Ophelia lit up, this was easy! ”Care of Magical Creatures.” She blurted out without skipping a beat. ”Oh...well I also like Ancient Runes. It’s an interesting class, and I’ve never studied it before. It’s hard, but interesting.” She wondered if this girl was tired of hearing Ophelia talk about magical creatures. But really, it was her true passion, aside from art. @delisle

Masin smiled, ”of course. And when I graduate next year there are a lot of other friendly people who can help you out. Susan Windsor is a dear friend of mine, I recommend looking to her,” she said, smiling happily at the thought of Susan carrying on her legacy of helping those around her.
”Well! London is lovely, even the muggle side of it,” she said as the girl explained she had only been to Diagon Alley to get her stuff. Then she went on to explain how she was family oriented, and why. That it was all she had. Masin felt that familiar strange sense of jealousy whenever someone talked about their amazing family. ”So, not many others brought children around, then?” she questioned. That was something she could easily relate to. Other than school, she barely spent time with other children. Her mother just didn’t bother to socialize her.
Masin chuckled as the girl blurted out what her favorite class. ”Aw, I should have known. Ancient runes is also rather intriguing, I agree. Don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it all,” she encouraged. ”Passion is important, don’t forget that.”

Ophelia smiled back at the girl. She was glad that she could have someone who could help her not look like an idiot. Though she didn’t think she had bad fashion, she never was one to really care. That was until she was put in a school with kids her age. ”Thanks.”
Being a girl who had never been there, it sounded great. She really wanted to visit. Especially hearing about it. ”Maybe I can convince my parents to let me visit sometime in the summer” Ophelia shook her head when the girl asked if others didn’t bring children around. ”Sometimes, but usually not. And I’ve always had hard time making friends.” She was finding that her parents were right by sending her here, she had many encounters with different types of people. She also found it easier to talk to them.
Ophelia felt her cheeks become hot and she nodded at the girl. ”Thank you. @delisle
