Summer was one of Scorps least favorite times of year. The heat was irritating and there wasn’t any school, what was he supposed to do with his time!? Sure, there were a lot of family parties with the Flints, Lestranges and whatnot, but those weren’t as interesting anymore now that… well, things were just different now. Spending time with his parents alone was great, but being an only child wasn’t the most entertaining thing on the planet. Of course, he spent plenty of time at the Potters or out and about with Albus… though he hadn’t seen him much this summer so far. He often spent the summer roaming Diagon Alley by himself and running into friends and acquaintances along the way. Today he was hoping to run into someone in particular… Okay, so he had run into Lily Potter a few days back and had asked her, trying to sound casual, what her family was up to… he had somehow managed to acquire in the information that Rose was supposed to be getting back from New Zealand yesterday… so she could be around the Alley today, right? Being away in New Zealand for two weeks had given Rose plenty of time to think to herself about the future of she and Scorpius's relationship. There was one point where she was glad she would be able to get away and not have to think about anything for two weeks but in reality, he was still all she could think about. The good news? She had told her mom about him. The bad? She still hadn't told her father. She was putting it off for as long as she could and she wasn't looking forward to when it was going to take place.
Rose found herself back in London and in Diagon Alley, in search of a few books that she could busy herself with for the summer. She had spent half of the afternoon in Flourish and Blotts and had picked up three books that she were certain would busy her mind enough to give her mind a break from thinking about Scorpius. She had done enough of that. Carrying the three books folded in her arms across her chest, Rose exited the book shop and was going to head back to where she could take the bus home but that was when she saw him.
There, just a few steps ahead of him on the street and going on the opposite direction, was Scorpius.

He finally caught sight of her. He had to remind himself that they were in a crowded place as he slowly kept walking toward her. He gently folded his hand behind his back as he approached, giving her a nod as he came to a stop about a foot in front of her. ”Rose. How was your trip?” he asked, casual and professional as ever. He still hadn’t told either of his parents about his feelings for Rose and since he hadn’t heard anything to the contrary, he assumed Rose hadn’t told hers. At least not her father, who probably would have tried contact him or Draco or something. He felt strangely comforted by the thought that maybe, just maybe they were still the only people who knew. Well, except that he knew that she had told Hugo, which didn’t really bother him. He tried not to let the paranoia set in about her trip to another country with other guys and the romantic air of vacation about. He was sure that she would be honest with him, either way, if she had somehow find her dream guy out there. But, let’s be honest, wasn’t Scorp everyones dream guy? Rose didn't know what she was going to do. Was she supposed to keep going? Should she turn around and pretend she hadn't seen them? It wasn't like he didn't know how she felt and vice versa but... they had decided that right now wasn't a good time for them to be together. They had so many other things to worry about. The impending darkness that seemed to be looming over their world, Rose had her Head Girl position to worry about, the N.E.W.T. exams they would be taking this year, and not to mention Ondina and Rose's father. While the very idea of talking to Scorpius elated Rose, it also stressed her out a bit. But she supposed that was probably a good thing. That was why when he stopped in front of her, she stopped as well and looked up at him.
Offerring up a casual nod and polite, brief smile Rose shifted the books in her arms around a bit. "Scorpius," she spoke his breath just as breathless as she always seemed to do when they began these conversations. She didn't know why he had that affect on her. "Great. It was... great." She responsed rather quickly to his question about her family's trip. Nothing particularly exciting had happened, but Rose had confessed to her mother about her feelings for Scorpius. And that was something fairly relevant to why she spoke so quickly. "What about you? How is... your family?" She had hesitated searching for the right words to say but figured that topic was as good as any.

As she shifted the books in her arms Scorps eye was drawn to them. Of course she had books. The familiarity of that fact caused him to realax a little, even smile as she spoke his name and answered his question about her trip. He nodded at her answer. Then she asked about him and his family, though she seemed unsure. That was unsurprising. Family was a touchy subject for the two of them. "I've been good. Am good. My families great. Actually..." he actually did have some news regarding his family. Something he was so happy about that his eyes lit up just at the thought of it. His smile grew wider and he stepped forward, "can I help you take those books somewhere? Maybe somewhere we can talk?"Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Though as uneasy and nervous as Rose felt about seeing Scorpius for the first time all summer, when she saw his smile... all those feelings seemed to suddenly go away and she found herself slowly smiling back at him. All summer, she had not been able to stop thinking about him and the feelings she harbored for him. Not speaking to him had proven harder than she thought it was going to be. But now, as they stood there smiling at one another, she found herself confident and happier all of a sudden. Something she had not really felt too much since she had last spoken to him.
The widening grin on Scorpius's face was very hard to miss, and it even got a chuckle out of the Ravenclaw. He seemed excited about something... and who was Rose to turn him down? "Uh, sure," she said, after a brief moment's hesitation. It wasn't like she had anywhere to go, aside from home. Her mother knew about... them, and well, her father probably wouldn't even suspect she were out with Scorpius. Then again, perhaps it would be better if they went somewhere they likely wouldn't be spotted together. "Yes. I would like that." She nodded, more confidently now. "Uhh... does the Owl Emporium sound alright?" She asked, not realizing until after the words had already left her mouth how odd a request that must have sounded like.

He heard her chuckle and knew his face had given him away. Given away the fact that he was very happy about something. He found himself wanting to tell her more than anyone else, and he knew he was going to in a matter of minutes. He found himself hoping that she'd be just as excited as he was, not that she had any real reason to be. As she suggested the Owl Emporium he raised an eyebrow, "odd choice, but sure," he said, turning to lead them in that direction. They had met in the owl emporium that one day last year, that day when they tried to be civil towards each other for the first time in their lives. He smiled at that thought, turning to look at her as they walked. "Been a busy summer at my house," he started, prefacing a bit to what he had to tell her. He wasn't actually sure if his parents wanted him to share the info with a Weasley but... she could keep it quiet, right? Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Rose followed Scorpius in the direction of the Emporium, biting her lip along the way. She was excited to hear what he had to say, as he seemed very excited himself to express it. But a part of her was still anxious about someone seeing them... someone like her father or Ondina. But they would surely have the perfect amount of privacy at the Emporium.
Then it crossed her mind as to why the Emporium had been her first thought. Owls for some reason really reminded her of Scorpius. Perhaps it was because that was when they had first tried being nice to one anothr and look where that got them! A small smile crossed her face but she remained quiet as the walked until Scorpius spoke. She turned her head to look at them as they walked along. "Oh, really?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at the blonde. "Why is that?" She inquired further. She felt a little awkward asking Scorpius how busy his family was at home during the summer, but she figured now was as good a time as any to get past that feeling and work toward being comfortable talking about that stuff with him if she wanted to have any sort of future with him.
Then again, there was Hugo's vision... did she want that future? She forced out a random, awkward chuckle as she awaited his response.

"One sec," he said, not wanting to say it out in the open. They ducked into the emporium and he pulled her aside, over to a heavily shelved area where they wouldn't be heard too clearly. He leaned down, his voice soft as he spoke. "My mums pregnant," he said, the obvious excitement sparkling in his eyes. "It's twins, boy and a girl," he chuckled, leaning away from her slightly after he had delivered the news. "Dad and I have been helping her around the house a lot, making sure she's doing all right. We're both big worriers in that way," he admitted, his face flushing a little at the confession. Family was the most important thing in the world to him. He had been taught that his entire life, just like his parents had been taught. Even in a purist world where family was only precious if they didn't 'betray the blood', the Malfoys had always loved each other above all else. He would always stand by those ideals. As Scorpius pulled them behind a large shelf, Rose was dying to know what he had to say. If clearly could not be anything bad, based on the excitement that was evident from both the look on his face and in his voice. She looked at him with wide, expectant eyes as she waited for what he had to say. When he leaned in close to her, she couldn't help but look at his lips which were nearly at her eye level thanks to their slight height difference. She bit her lip.
The words that left his mouth had not been what Rose was expecting at all. Her mouth fell open, but she also couldn't fight the smile on her face. A baby was always good news, and when it was two that was even better! But she wasn't just smiling at the news... The look of excitement on Scorp's face was enough to erase any problem in Rose's mind. "Wow, that's amazing! Congratulations!" She said, smiling back at him widely. Rose then took a moment to picture Scorpius cleaning around a nursery, helping his mother and the thought was oddly sweet to her.
"Welcome to the big sibling club," Rose chuckled finally.

Scorp couldn't gauge her reaction at first wen her jaw dropped and she slightly smiled. He breathed a sigh of relief as she exclaimed that she thought it was amazing and congratulated him. He chuckled, standing up straight and running his fingers through his hair, letting out some nervous air through his lips. He blinked at her words about the big siblings club and his smile returned in a bit of a half smirk. "Thanks," he said, lowering his arm back to his side. "I'm incredibly nervous. And very happy," he said, shaking his head in disbelief. "I just thought that chance was over, you know? And heck, I have no idea how to take care of a baby," his eyes shifted passed her for a moment as he thought about it. 'Gotta learn eventually though, right?" he said, smiling and letting his eyes find their way back to hers. "But what about you, Rose,"' there it was again, that jolt at saying her first name, "anything new and exciting happening with you? Other than getting Head Girl, that is," he said, a proud smile breaking onto his face. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade(I'm sorry girl but I'm all caught up soooo SUCKA)

Rose couldn't stop smiling at him, she was so happy for him. And she couldn't help but notice just how cute he was as he ran his hand through his shaggy blonde hair. When he mentioned having to learn how to take care of a baby eventually, she looked down a little flustered and embarrassed, but forced out an awkward chuckle to mask the feeling. She looked back up at him. "I'm not an expert, considering I was only one when Hugh was born, but I do have a hundred cousins so I would be happy to give you some pointers." She nodded once, proudly.
When he said her name, she felt her heart beat speed up. She honestly wasn't even sure if she would ever get used to him saying it. She liked it. When he asked her what she had been up to, Rose just shrugged. "My family visited New Zealand... But other than that... Well, my summer hasn't been as eventful as yours!" She gestured to him with her hands, smiling.

He shrugged in false modesty as she said that her summer hadn't been as exciting as his, gesturing to him. "Well, it's kind of hard to beat," he chuckled. With so much death and destruction going on a little bit of life was definitely worth celebrating. "As for giving me some pointers..." he started, his smile growing wider as he instinctively reached out to take both of her hands in his. "That would be incredibly helpful," he said. "I've never really dealt with kids under the age of eleven so... I'm not sure what they're like?" he said, still not releasing her hands. He felt a strange reassurance in them. A feeling that those hands could get him through whatever troubles this new part of his life would bring. He wasn't too worried, in all reality his excitement was much stronger than his fears, but he knew that there would be hard times. Like when the kids needed him to babysit them or hen his mother was at school and his father had to look after them. That's when he'd worry the most. He knew his father was capable but he also knew that he'd think about those kids every second while he as at school next year. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Rose was so happy for Scorpius. After all that had happened in their world, it was so uplifting to finally see something good happening. And if it could have happened to anyone, she was glad it was happening to him. He deserved happiness, she thought. He had never done anything to intentionally hurt anyone before. And he had lived his life an only sibling for so long, and coming from a large family herself, Rose believed everyone could benefit from siblings and cousins and all that. And as far as she knew, Scorpius had little to none. So she was happy for him and it showed in the grin she wore on her face.
Rose felt her heart skip a beat when he took her hands in his. She glanced down at them for a moment, fighting back a happy smile by biting her lip. She had forgotten what it felt like to be so close to him... how good it felt to feel his touch. She didn't want to let go. But then she remembered, all too quickly, the vision her brother had had. And as far as Rose knew, she and Scorpius had not really made any changes that could have prevented that future from still occuring. She blinked a few times and then looked over at one of the shelves and immediately pretended to be interested by whatever sat upon it, gently releasing herself from his grasp as she walked over to it. "So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?" She asked, not looking at him as she did.
The Ravenclaw knew it was probably a bad idea to go and hang about with Scorpius, considering what Hugo had seen, but... she had missed him, and she longed to be near him. "Maybe we could... get some ice cream and I could start giving you some pointers now...?" There, that seemed like a harmless enough excuse. And who knew, if they just... happened to end up snogging then that was just a silly plus...

Scorp was a little concerned when she pulled her hands away and walked toward the shelf, looking at something or other, he didn't care what. She asked what his other plans were for the rest of the day and he shrugged, shoving his hands into his pockets as he stayed where he was. Before he thought up an answer, however, she was suggesting that they get ice cream and start giving those pointers. He chewed on his lip now, looking at something the opposite direction of her as to not be staring at the back of her head as he nodded, "sure, sure," he said, trying to seem nonchalant. If she was going to be acting like this was no big deal then he could do the same, right? Actually, it was kind of fun trying to outdo each other on who was acting like they cared less. He smiled at the thought, looking down at his shoes before going on. "I was thinking of taking a little hike later, actually. My parents are really up for it right now so we haven't gone much," he chewed his lip again for a moment before looking up at her, opening she'd face him again, "maybe we could do that sometime too. Today, another day, after ice cream, whatever," he shrugged again, looking back toward the shelf in front of him but his face was giving him away with that stupid grin. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade
