Edmund was walking through the castle calmly, for a first. For the first time in forever, he wasn't upset about anything. He was at school, walking around and enjoying just being there. No matter whatever else might be happening in his life, he loved this school. He loved studying magic and being around people like him. He loved the feeling that he actually belonged. And he was here. After attempts to make him leave, go home, he was still here and doing what he loved.
As he roamed the hallways, he wasn't thinking about anything in particular, just walking and appreciating the castle. He turned onto a staircase and froze when it started moving. Hadn't been expecting that. Then he realized he wasn't alone.

Winnie knew exactly who was in front of her on the stairs. It wasn't intentional, obviously, but it was an amazing opportunity. Because stuck on the moving staircase with her was none other then Edmund Windsor. Year mate. Muggleborn. Muggle royalty. Winnie remembered his brother, William, pretty well. She'd been totally infatuated with him. She'd never really spoken to Edmund though. Well! No better time then now! And she did want to talk to him. Desperately. Because he was practically a prince! She loved princes!
Once the staircase stopped, and she was able to release the railing, she grinned up at him. "Hey! Surprising, right? You'd think they did that just to bug us!" She stopped, though was still grinning. She was always excited and energetic, but today was a little more then usual... Most definitely due to his presence.

Edmund turned around and looked at the person in front of him ... Winnie? He was really good at names and faces so he was pretty sure that's who it was, even though they'd never really spoken. However, one thing about Edmund was that he knew almost everyone and he knew quite a lot about them. That's what being observant was for. The biggest thing he remembered about her was that she used to really like his brother. Like a lot. Not that Wil would have ever admitted anything about it, but Edmund noticed on his own.
He smiled a little, hoping that he wasn't giving off a bad vibe. Because he was so quiet people tended to think he was always angry ... which was sometimes true. But not always. He shrugged. "Ah, don't worry. It's just my luck. I'm finally in a good mood so the castle's trying to teach me a lesson." He patted the railing on the stairway, "But it's not working." What was he saying? Ed wasn't exactly sure, but he did think he might have been trying to show her that he wasn't always intimidating. She didn't seem to be intimidated though ... her grin showed no signs of anxiety.
