The Monsters walk among us There were times when Grey forgot that a serious Rai was always a correct Rai. The typical friendly banter that the two of them always had going on back and forth completely eclipsed that side of her. It was honestly scary. She was right about having heart for a job, and he was just being stubborn about all of it. Chalking it up to frustration that he would have to put forth the effort to get through the training unlike Claire had was the only way he could let go of the subject. Negative thoughts like that would never get him anywhere in life, and it was easier to move on than to dwell on them. “I seem to forget that wands have a mind of their own sometimes. Smart little buggers, they know exactly what we’re feeling and thinking all the time.” The more he thought about it, the more it creeped him out. Magic was a strange thing when it came to inhabiting inanimate objects. He took another bite of food, listening intently to Rai talk about him potentially supplying articles to the Daily Prophet, despite training to become an Auror. It was definitely a good idea, but there had to be some kind of restrictions Aurors had from talking to the press. Everything he had ever seen coming from the Auror department had seemed so…official. Would an article from a trainee really be something readers would devour? It was all a long way off, but Grey was definitely interested in figuring out what both of his prospective jobs would think about that idea. He would love to be able to continue writing articles for a paper and be an Auror at the same time. It would be a dream come true. “That’s actually a pretty good idea.” Grey said, mouth half full and pointing his utensil at Rai. “I’ll definitely look into it if I get the chance.”Swallowing, he finished off what was left of his drink and leaned back in his chair once again. The idea that he could potentially be working with his sister a year from now was definitely strange. Grey still hadn’t figured out how she would take the news, obviously he was hoping for some sort of encouragement, like how she had been with him in his first three years of school. It seemed to him that once he sat down and put forth the effort to improve his grades, Claire distanced herself. Maybe it was her way of letting him learn and figure things out on his own, but she could have easily told him that and he would have understood her reasoning. “I guess we’ll see what she thinks once I join. Hopefully she doesn’t kill me.” Grey let out a small laugh, realizing that his sister could possibly have some harsh words for him if she caught wind of him possibly becoming an Auror. He followed the awkward silence that followed with a grin as Rai mentioned that the two of them would need to practice. “You’ll definitely need some tuning up by the time I get there. I’ll be fresh off the Hogwarts Express.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Rai smiled at his comment about the wand, bringing that into the discussion. "Exactly," she agreed. It was true that wands became a part of you, a part that was almost impossible to deny or fight against. She was okay with that, of course. "You just have to trust yourself," she added with a small shrug, nearing the end of her meal between speaking. She beamed as he said that the supplying things to the Prophet was actually a pretty good idea, her eyes squinty. "I agreeee," she said, giving another little chuckle as he pointed his utensil at her and said he'd look into it. She nodded in faux seriousness before turning back to her food, taking the last bite before grabbing her drink to finish that off too. "She wont' kill you," Rai laughed, though she wasn't entirely sure that Claire would be thrilled about all this Auror business. As much as she loved Claire, she cared more about Greys feelings, and her own, and that meant him becoming an Auror was the best choice. "Oh," she said, finishing her drink and leaning forward as he challenged her, saying she needed some 'tuning up' when he got there. "I'll show you what a tune up looks like," she smirked before leaning back and stretching her arms over her head. "Guess we're done here, eh?" she suggested, nodding at their empty plates. grey xavier slater(okay you can close it on your post!)

The Monsters walk among us Grey might have regretted challenging Rai to a duel a little. Just a little bit though. Dueling Kyle or a gang of evil wizards? No problem. Rai super-juiced with Auror knowledge? That was definitely asking to get whooped. She had surely already had enough training as an Auror to destroy him five ways to Friday at this point, and that was enough to scare even Grey. Not to mention that she was physically tough, and any number of their brawls in school had ended in a wrestling match, usually ending with Grey tapping out by time they were done. Slightly intimidated now, Grey put both of his hands up in front of him. “On second thought, I’ll take a raincheck. Once we’re on equal grounds as Aurors, then it’ll be a fair fight.” Just saying that slightly hurt Grey’s dueling pride. It was like climbing to the peak of Everest, just to decide that you hated climbing and walked back down. Looking down at his plate, grey realized he had finished all of his food at some point. That was definitely depressing. There was no way that amount of food was going to hold him over until dinner, but he’d have to hang on. “I guess we are.” Quickly checking his watch, Grey was shocked by how much time had gone by. Surely Rai was supposed to be back to training by now right? And he had to go home and finish chores that he had shrugged off that morning. The more he thought about it, the more he was scared of facing angry parents, and a potentially ticked off Claire too. It was like having three parents sometimes. “I’m going to have to run ahead. Forgot all about stuff I needed to do at home.” He shrugged. “Honestly, this was a lot better than doing chores anyways. Remember, I get the bill next time!” Turning to leave, Grey waved back at Rai. He kind of hoped that they could do this again. It was fun. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
