Royal hated being confined to bed, but the Healers at the hospital had made it clear that he wasn't in any state to do anything other than sit around. He wasn't even allowed to read for longer than fifteen minutes for fear of making his head injury worse. Why he wasn't allowed to walk was beyond him, but Royal was beginning to go insane from lack of activity. At his insistence, his mother had sent invitations to all of his friends so that he could have something to occupy his time. He had tried to sneak some pen and parchment into his room (he had a fantastic idea for a second novel) but his mother had dutifully taken the materials out just as quickly as he could smuggle them in. She cared too much about him getting better.
In the end, Royal supposed that they were lucky. There had been so many tragedies and so much fire and so much pain, but the smoke had cleared and everyone he loved was still standing. Maybe they were hurt, physically or mentally or emotionally, but they were still alive. The smoke had cleared, and they were alive, and that was all he could ask for.

Odette had been pretty thrilled to get the letter from Royal's mother to come visit. She had heard about what happened to him through Teddy and she was finally able to get some time off of work to come and see him. She hadn't been to his house for a few years and since... well, since his sisters were young. She knew things there were going to be a little different, especially with Royal confined to bed rest.
The brunette walked up to the house and knocked on the door, greeting Hestia happily before she was directed to Royal's bedroom. Though the door was open, she knocked on it anyway before taking a few steps inside. "Hey, Roy," she said, smiling and walking over to stand next to him at the side of his bed.

@royal & @teddy & @victoire & @odette today was a good day to go visiting. he'd gotten an owl from royal's mother about him coming to see her son. she'd written all of them she'd said. it was probably what royal needed. especially if his mum was the one writing to them. he ran his hand through his hair as he approached the door but before he could knock he was ushered inside by royal's mother. he smiled at her, thanked her for the invite and he followed her directions up to where royal was. jake himself had a few days off, having only been released from saint mungo's himself two days before. though he hadn't been injured as bad as royal and it hadn't happened during the attack on kings cross, it had been after. he smiled when he saw odette was already there. he walked up to where she stood so he could see royal and he touched his fingers to her elbow lightly. "and here i was thinking i was early" he said with a soft smile before looking to royal. "glad to see you out of mungo's mate" he said as he reached to clasp royal's arm lightly, hoping it was his good one.
so this is after the odecob thread and if he's going to ask her out in that ... <3 i made an assumption.

Teddy was on top of the world. Things finally felt like they were falling into place in the best way. His family seemed to be in a good place; Ginny was getting better and nothing else bad had happened since the attack on King's Cross. Royal was on his way to a speedy recovery. Victoire and Teddy were finally, finally, finally back together, and Teddy's hair was blue again. He was able to tap into his metamorphmagus abilities with how happy he had been as of late and the blue in his hair hadn't gone away since it appeared.
With Royal on his way to recovery, his mother had sent out owls to the gang and wanted them all to come together to see Royal. Teddy was excited, for he hadn't seen Royal since he had been attacked and he knew Victoire hadn't seen him since he had been in the hospital so he was happy to just see Vic happy. The two were on their way to see Roy together, hand in hand at last. When they got to the Shacklebolt's, they were greeted by Hestia and led to Royal's room. Upon entering, Teddy was thrilled to see Jacob and Odette were already there.
Ted gave Victoire's hand a squeeze and he flashed a grin at her before he let go of her and went over to Odette and Jake, putting his arms around both of them. "You two? Nuh-uhhh," he said playfully, poking fun at the elbow touching he had caught sight of upon entering. He looked down at Royal then and smiled widely at him. "Good to see you getting better, mate," he said, the joy more evident in Teddy's voice than it had been in a very long time.

Victoire was partially horrified at the idea of walking into Royals home with her hand in Teddys. Royal knew how she felt, of course, heck she had even told Jacob. Odette wasn't stupid. Once they reached the room, Teddy released her hand and moved forward. Vics eyes found what he was referring to, the way Jacob and Odette were standing near each other... Vic smiled, but then her eyes found Royal and the smile changed. It was deeper, as if there was some big inside secret between them that no one else in the room knew. She walked over to him, crossing to the other side of the bed where the others weren't. She wasted no time in sitting gently on the bed beside him, "hey there," she said softly, "bet your mums been spoiling you rotten," she guessed with a wicked little grin.

Royal watched as all of his friends filed into the room, but instead of his heart lifting like he expected it to, he felt like he was full of lead. Jacob and Odette were standing close together, and Teddy and Victoire were an item again, and even though he was in his room in his house, Royal felt like he was the one who didn’t belong. At least Victoire was willing to part from Teddy to sit next to him on the bed, which made him feel marginally better. They were all still friends even if there happened to be two couples in their midst. (It just stunk that Royal would be the one who was left out if they went on any couple-y dates.)
“If by spoiling me rotten you mean leaving me to languish without anything to do, yes.” He smirked in response to Victoire’s question. “The woman is crazy, Vic. I’m surprised that she didn’t pat you all down before you came into my room to make sure you weren’t smuggling writing utensils.” He pushed his shoulder against Vic’s lightly before turning to the rest of his friends. “Thank you all for coming and breaking the monotony that is staring at my wall for twenty four hours a day.” He said with a bright smile. “You’re welcome to sit on the bed, if you don’t want to stand.” Victoire had already made use of one of the only pieces of furniture in his room, though there was a chair at his desk that could probably be used if the bed got too crowded. Royal pulled his knees towards him so he was sitting criss cross, offering more space for the others to take a seat.

Odette felt Jacob's fingers lightly touch her elbow and a wider smile was brought to her face at the touch. She felt warm and happy being there with two of her best friends and it would only be better if - well, as if on queue, the two she had just been thinking of showed up... holding hands. "Finally," Odette muttered jokingly so that only Royal and Jacob could hear her comment. Teddy came and put his arms around she and Jacob and she rolled her eyes. "Shut it, Lupin," she said as she broke away from the blue haired author's arms and accepted Royal's invitation to sit down upon his bed. She sat on the opposite side Victoire did and smiled at Royal as he spoke of how boring his time at home had been.
"Beats a hospital bed, though, riiight?" Odette said, trying to get a happier comment out of Royal by playfully nudging his arm lightly. "You're lucky you've got such great friends who love to come visit their other amazing friend." She winked at Royal. "But really, how are you? I've hardly seen you... any of you, this year." She looked around the room at both Victoire and Royal and Teddy by Jacob. She'd seen Jacob plenty, but she kept that to herself as she flashed a small smile at the blonde next to Teddy.

@royal & @teddy & @victoire & @odette "You two? Nuh-uhhh," jake rolled his eyes and moved to nudge into teddy's ribs lightly when his best friends arms came around him and odette, pulling them a little closer together before she told teddy to shut it and she moved away from them. jake laughed a little and nodded his head slightly. "sounds about right, shut it lupin" he said as he reached to drop his arm over teddy's shoulder and tried to ruffle that blue hair of his with a laugh. he glanced to the bed and tilted his head to the side slightly. "well teddy my old pal .. looks like there's no room for us on there" he said, joking as he leaned his knee against the bed that royal, vic and odette were on.

Teddy could not help the cheeky grin that appeared on his face as Odette and Jacob both told him to 'shut it.' Teddy loved giving his mates a hard time, especially when they had just officially come out to their own friends as a couple. Teddy shook his head after Jacob spoke. "Shame, really, mate," he said with playful sarcasm. "Guess we'll just have to make ourselves comfortable on the floor then!" He declared jokingly, but made no move to sit on the floor. He truthfully did not mind standing as long as he was surrounded by friends.

Vic chuckled and placed a hand over the left side of her chest, giving Royal a soft mock pout as he spoke of his mother leaving him in languish. He went on to say that he was surprised she didn't pat them down for writing utensils and Vic grinned, biting her lip down for a moment. He nudged her shoulder and she leaned right into it, glad for the contact. He looked much better then when she had seen him in Mungos, of course. She was glad to see he was showing improvement in his actions and with the jokes, too.
Vic looked up as Odette spoke and sat down, making eye contact with her as the brunette flashed a smile at her. Vic knew what she was thinking, of course, and gave Odette her own toothy grin. She mouthed later, and turned her attention to Teddy and Jacob as they claimed there was no room on the bed. "Oh psh, there is plenty of room," she held a hand out to Teddy, her eyes pleading and her lips falling into that playful pout again. She'd been doing that a lot lately.

Royal didn’t know what to say as the two couples bantered with each other, talking about shutting mouths. There was no way he could interject without making it obvious how uncomfortable he was, and he didn’t want to make anyone feel bad on his behalf. “There’s room.” Royal agreed when Vic invited Teddy onto the bed, voice oddly hollow. He shoved himself up into a more upright position and curled his legs underneath himself to open up even more space on the bed, any happiness he had been feeling about Vic being willing to be apart from Teddy vanishing. Apparently even three minutes without him was killing her. His heart dropped even further into his stomach, and Royal looked down at his bed covers for a few moments before answering Odette’s question, albeit a bit delayed.
“I don’t remember the hospital well enough to judge whether this is better.” He said flatly. Royal wasn’t going to sugar coat the fact that he had been hurt, badly, and that his memories from the days following the attack on King’s Cross were fragmented at best. His bad arm was still swaddled with gauze, and his head wound, while uncovered, was still waiting on being totally healed. He didn’t dare respond to the second question for fear of sounding bitter. He had been put through hell again and again and again, and the only one of his friends that had been there for him with any sort of constancy was Victoire. And now he was going to lost her to Teddy, and he would be alone.

Just as Royal agreed with Vic that there was room, Odette spread herself out on the remaining room and flashed a playful glare at Teddy and Jake. "No there isn't," she smirked, not moving after that. She didn't want Royal to inconvenience himself to keep all of them comfortable. The two able-bodied guys would survive with standing. "So, what happened exactly?" Odette's head tilted to the side as she looked at Royal with a slightly concerened look. As sad as the reunion reason was, Odette was pretty glad to see all of her friends together again in one place. She had really only seen Jacob. She knew that it was easier for Victoire and Royal to see one another, as they worked together; and the last she heard, Teddy had taken up a position as Victoire's guard though now that it seemed they were together again... she wasn't sure if he was still a guard for her or not.

@royal & @teddy & @victoire & @odette "No there isn't," jake laughed and raised a brow at her, his face turning up into something of a playful smirk as he moved to the bed and he dropped across one of her legs, careful to not actually crush her under his weight but he ended up laying over her legs and he looked up at her. "see .. you presented a challenge" he said with a laugh as he patted the top of her thigh lightly. “I don’t remember the hospital well enough to judge whether this is better.” jake reached out to nudge teddy's leg to bug him slightly with his foot as royal spoke and he glanced back at royal and he shook his head. "this is better. trust me, i was there and you're looking so much better than you did then. for one, you know who we all are" he said with a small smile. he didn't ever want to see one of his friends in that situation again, the thought was scary. he had stayed at the hospital as long as he had been able with royal.

Teddy was about to move onto the bed when Royal invited him to but stopped when Odette moved to not allow him. He rolled his eyes at she and Jacob as Jacob moved to lay across her legs. "Get a room," he whispered mainly just to Jacob. Teddy settled with just standing for the time being. He found he felt much more involved in the conversation that way. Odette had asked Royal how the hospital was, it seemed, and Royal responded with saying he could not really remember. Teddy had not gotten around to visiting him there before he had been transferred home but he had seen Jacob and he knew that Roy's mother was far more capable than many of the nures there. And nicer too! "I'm glad you're home, mate. You'll be able to relax far better here than you ever could there," he smiled down at Royal.

Vics eyes were on Teddy so she didn't really see what was happening beside her, but then Odette blocked him and Vic laughed. "Fair enough," she said, dropped her hand and shifting so she was right up next to Royal, her back against the headboard as well as she swung her legs onto the bed. Now there really wasn't any room. She moved her hand instead to attempt take Royals hand that was closest to her. "I don't know what you're talking about, Jake," she said with a smirk, turning toward him, "Royal knew who I was the minute I showed up. Guess he just loves me the most," she joked, chuckling. She knew that was partly true in a way... considering her and Royal were the closest friends with each other out of everyone else. She looked to Odette over Royal as she asked what happened exactly and nodded, agreeing that it was a good question. Vic had heard some, but she wanted to hear Royals story with him feeling better and able to articulate it more.
