Edmund looked around when he first arrived at Diagon Alley. The street was full of people, rushing about in a hurry. His eyes quickly skimmed through the crowd as he searched for Addi. It had been months since he last saw his close friend and he was excited to see her again.
Their friendship was ... interesting to say the least. Most people who knew him never would have expected him to be friends with such an enthusiastic, popular girl, but he was. For some reason, he and Addi had grown particularly close over the last few years and he loved the relationship. He liked having someone he could trust with everything, as well as someone who knew him well enough to know how to lift his spirits when he was upset. It was almost impossible to be upset when Addi was trying to cheer you up.
He sighed when he didn't see her in the crowd on the street. Still searching, Edmund made his way over to Quality Quidditch Supplies without thinking about what he was doing. He looked in through the window. Oh, how he loved brooms. At least he knew Addi wouldn't mind coming over to this store. Being a beater on the Slytherin Quidditch team, he knew she liked this store as much as he did. He decided to wait there for her to show up.

@edmund 169 <3 Addilyn was beyond excited. She hadn't seen Edmund all summer. And although they had been sending owls to one another all summer, she still missed him so much. They had been best friends since they're first year, and they were also beaters on the Slytherin Quidditch Team together. Addilyn truly adored Edmund, he was a sweetheart and she loved being around him. He was a fantastic friend.
They had planned to meet up and when she couldn't find him, her first stop was Quality Quidditch Supplies. Glancing around as she began walking up to the store, she saw his black hair and she skipped over to him, her arms wide open for a hug, "Edmund!" With a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, Addi stepped back, her smile wide. "How are you? I've missed you so much! How's your summer been? Have you bought everything for school? Did you get the letter about dress robes?" Her questions kept coming with her excitement, and her cheeks were red from happiness.

Edmund spun around at the sound of his best friend's voice. "Addi!" he called immediately, excited to finally see her again. Sending owls all summer really didn't make it so he missed her any less, but hearing from her had been nice. Actually seeing her felt ... like home. Having Addi as a best friend was one of the reasons Ed liked Hogwarts so much. He hugged her back and then laughed when she started asking him a barrage of questions. This was Addi.
He leaned back against the store wall and held up both hands in a gesture of surrender. "Woah there Adds. You do know you have to give me a minute to answer those questions before you ask more, right?" he responded with an easy smile. It was hard not to smile around her, especially when he was in the mood to tease her, like he was now. "Let's see. I'm doing pretty good today and you already know exactly how my summer's been at home," he shrugged, not really wanting to get into home life right now. She'd already heard about most of his issues through the owls they'd sent. He moved forward and pulled her in for another quick hug. "I really missed you too." He tried to remember all the other questions she'd asked. Oh yeah.
"Sus and I got my supplies the other day, including the dress robes." he told her, smiling at the thought of his older sister. Things had changed for the better between them and he liked it. "Do you have your supplies yet? And do you have any idea why we need dress robes? Is something going on this year? Sus told me that she and Will never needed them before ..." he trailed off for a minute, wondering. Really though, he couldn't imagine why they would need dress robes, so he didn't have much to think about.

@edmund 138 <3 "I'm glad you're doing good! And yes I know, I'm sorry..." When Edmund pulled her in for another hug, she made a shocked looking face but smiled. She held her arms around him tightly and squeezed. "I really missed you too, E." It was a simple nickname, but she loved calling him that.
Addilyn nodded her head. "Yes! I went out and got them with Gabriella yesterday as well! I love my dress! What do your robes look like? And no, I'm not sure...Grey and Claire aren't all that positive either. But my parents have been talking about it." Addi wasn't sure, she was just super excited for the dance. Or if anyone would even ask her, especially Kyle. But what she had heard the other day from Jamie about him hating Slytherins...she really didn't know how she felt anymore.

"It's not your fault," Edmund said with a smile. He appreciated Addi's concern for him. It was nice to have someone care about what happened in your life without having ulterior motives. Things were starting to seem that way with Susan, but it'd be a while until he really trusted her fully. He'd trusted Addi since first year.
What did his robes look like? What kind of a question was that? Edmund wasn't really sure how he was supposed to answer. Did she just want to know the color, or was she asking about the style and length of it too? When it came to girls and clothes, he could never be quite sure. Even so ... He was gonna go with color. He gave a wry smile, "Emerald green, of course! What other color would I chose? How about your dress?"
A small scowl crossed his face briefly. Edmund wasn't really into surprises, so he'd really been hoping that Addi would know what was going on with the robes this year. Still, it wasn't her fault that she didn't know and he was positive that if she did, she'd tell him. "Well, what do you and Grey and Clair think it might be? I've never been to anything that needed dress robes," he added, trying to subtly remind her that that was why he didn't have any ideas about what might be going on.

@edmund ### <3 Edmund mentioned that his robes were emerald green and Addi laughed out loud. "Well hey! My dress is emerald green as well! It's floor length but I think it's absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to wear it and get all dressed up. I'm sure your dress robes are exquisite, E!"
When Ed scowled, Addilyn couldn't help but giggle. "Ha! Edmund you're too cute. I'm not sure either, definitely a dance of some sort but I'm not sure what we'd have a dance for. Hogwarts Anniversary?" Another giggle escaped her lips.

Edmund couldn't stop himself from laughing as well. "I should've known you'd copy my color, Adds," he teased, unable to stop himself. "But I'm sure you'll pull it off way better than me."
"Oh naw," Edmund exclaimed when she told him it was all for a dance. Edmund didn't like dances. Of course, he knew how to dance. With his family being who they were, he couldn't not know how. And he'd been to plenty of dances/balls. They were boring and stuffy and he hated them. He'd never been to one that he'd found even remotely interesting and had the decided opinion that dances were designed to be pure torture. "That's it," he continued, grabbing Addi's hand and pulling her toward Madam Malkins in a fury. "I'm going back there right now and returning those robes before we leave. I don't do dances. Not even for Hogwarts or magic," he grumbled, entirely focused on getting out of this.

@edmund 137 <3 Addi laughed along with Edmund. "Oh, shush it E! I have not copied you, we just have the same taste. And you'll look just as great! You look fantastic in whatever you wear." Addilyn winked at Edmund with a large grin.
Edmund's next move shocked her. He grabbed her hand, exclaimed he won't dance, wanted to return his robes, and dragged her along with him. Exploding with laughter, Addi shook her head and stopped abruptly. Pulling Edmund very close to her own body, Addi smiled at him and shook her head, their noses almost touching. "Oh no you don't, Eddie. You're keeping your robes; I don't know what it's for but you need to have them. If it worries you that much you can just dance with me." Smiling, she stepped once backwards so their bodies weren't so close.

"Yeah, yeah," Edmund mumbled with a small smile as he shrugged and rolled his eyes.
When Addi stopped him before he made it to Madam Malkin's, Edmund grimaced. Dang it. He'd hoped that if he moved fast enough, she wouldn't stop him, but she had and he knew that he wasn't going to get his way this time. He closed his eyes in defeat for a second before she spun him around and pulled him close. "I have no problem dancing," he explained when she stepped away. "I just hate balls and dances. They're boring and stuffy and I really just don't fit in ." Edmund knew he still wasn't going to get to return his robes, but the thought he might as well try to explain himself a little. "Fine, I'll keep them," he gave in, though he wasn't happy about it. His one hope was that they wouldn't be used for a dance. "What do you want to do since you won't let me return them?"

@edmund 112 <3 Addi herself had never been to a dance before, so she specifically doesn't know how to dance. But she was sure Edmund did, especially with who his family was. And when he explained why he didn't like dances Addilyn sighed at her best friend. "Oh, E. Come on, you fit in! You're smart, you know how to dance, and you're exceptionally handsome. Don't worry! Any girl would be lucky to dance with you!" She smiled brightly. "Me on the other hand, I have no idea how to dance so I'll just be making a fool out of myself...and I'm not sure, a bite to eat? Is there anything else you need to buy?"

"I fit in at Hogwarts, not at dances," Edmund responded instantly, only partly agreeing with her. He knew she didn't believe him, but it was true. He always felt awkward and out of place at balls and was sure it would be the case here too ... if there was a ball. He should just relax until he knew for sure what was going to happen.
He rolled his eyes again at her, "You will be fine, Adds. I won't let you make a fool of yourself and if you're worried about it, I can help you practice dancing." Edmund smiled, hoping this would reassure her about the dance. He shook his head at her next question, "No, Susan and I got all my supplies the other day. What about you?" He waited a minute, pretending to think about how to answer her next question. "And you of all people know I can always go for some food," he said with a wink. Edmund was pretty much a bottomless pit when it came to food, which he got teased about mercilessly, but he didn't mind. Food was worth it.

@edmund 89 <3 At his offer to help her with dancing Addilyn immediately perked up. "Oh, really? Would you, E? That would be so helpful. I don't want to look like a babbling bumbling band of baboons." Addi giggled. As they continued walking she nodded her head. "Yes, I also bought everything I needed...and more. Girl's gotta shop if a girl wants." Edmund then mentioned food and she shook her head with a smile, oh, all boys were obsessed with food. "Sure, let's go. I need another cup of coffee anyways, and I'm also hungry."

Edmund grinned, laughing with her. "Of course, but I don't think you could look like a, what was that again? A babbling, bumbling band of baboons?" he chucked again, "I don't think you could do that even if you tried Adds." He nodded his head, not surprised when she said she'd gotten more than she needed. Addi loved shopping, like most girls. They continued to walk towards the Leaky Cauldron and Edmund was content. Sure, Susan might see him and Addi eating in the Leaky Cauldron and start being suspicious of something, but there was nothing to be suspicious of. He was going to eat with his best friend and then enjoy the rest of his day with her. "Oh good. I'm starving!"@jill2 ---The end---
