Georgie,
I know that I'm probably the last person you want a letter from right now, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you. I know you're back at school, so I'll try not to bother you too much.
Your daddy and I have gotten permission to remain in the country, and we're going to start looking for jobs soon. There are a lot of things that we still have to figure out, but we're going to try to make everything work. We don't want to lose you and Lance again.
Have a great first week back at Hogwarts, sweetie. I'll keep in touch with you and your brother.
Love, Momma

mama,
There are, surprisingly enough, people I would like to hear from less than you. My friend's father, for example. He was the genocidal werewolf, in case you couldn't remember, so that's what you're up against. Hope that makes you happy.
I'm glad that you can stay with me for once. Tell papa I wish him good luck on his job search. I know they've been looking for a lot of new Aurors lately, so maybe they'll accept you both.
The Triwizard Tournament is at our school this year. Last time it was at Hogwarts, someone died, but I can't enter, so don't worry. My friend Max's sister is entering, so I'm kind of worried about Max. They're really close and if her sister died...well, that's not going to happen. Have a nice day, mama. georgie

Georgie,
Yes, I am happy to hear that you'd rather hear from me than from a genocidal werewolf. Thank you for thinking so highly of me.
I'm sorry for the late reply, but good news! I have a job now, and I'm working as a maid at the Leaky Cauldron. I know that you might be shocked to hear that it isn't an Auror position, but I don't know if I want to go back to that. Your Papa is still looking, so I'll mention your suggestion to him.
How are your classes going? The Triwizard Tournament sounds danger exciting. I think I saw something in the newspaper about it. Be careful, and tell your friend's sister to be careful, too. (If Lance is eligible, tell him that I said that he isn't allowed.)
Love you, Momma

mama,
Like I said, it could be a lot worse. I don't know how you would've felt if I had said I wanted to get a letter from him more than you, but I imagine it would have been a lot worse than how you felt when I said I preferred him to you.
It's fine that you took a bit longer to reply. I wasn't expecting one at all. Nice to hear that you have a job, but I'm sorry about papa. Maybe soon he'll find something and then I can buy some real schoolbooks instead of just using the secondhand ones the orphanage gave me. No pressure, though. I don't expect much especially not from you.
I'm always careful, mama. Jamie is, too. I haven't spoken to her, though, because Max and I had a fight, and it would be weird. I think she hates me. As for Lance, he's not old enough to compete. Only people who are of age (that is, 17 - I don't remember if that was the age of majority in South Carolina or not) can compete, so if he was eligible you saying he couldn't wouldn't really do much. Hope your job is going well. georgie

Georgie,
Once he gets a job, we'll be happy to buy you a new set of books. We're on a tight budget right now, since we only have my income, and most of what we have saved is for us to get ourselves somewhere permanent to live. I went to Hogsmeade not too long ago, and there are some nice cottages there. Your Papa and I think that it would be really pretty at Christmas.
I'm sorry to hear that you and Max had a fight. I'm here for advice if you need want it. It will be okay.
The rules about the Triwizard Tournament make sense. I know that my opinion doesn't count for much, but I still worry about you two.
Thank you for asking about my job. I usually work nights, which took some getting used to. I have a day off at the end of the month, and I think your Papa and I are going to meet with the people at the orphanage then.
Hang in there. I love you.
- Momma

mama,
I understand that money is tight. I don't need new books. I'm just saying that it would be nice to have something that was mine. I've waited almost five years, a couple more months isn't going to kill me. I hope that you two are both eating enough even though you're on a budget. It's not good to be doing physical labor on an empty stomach.
I'm sure everything will turn out okay. We both just need time to cool down. I've just had to hang out with Louis a lot more than usual. I don't think that makes Max happy, since it's kind of what we argued about in the first place, but I'll be fine. I always have been.
Please let me know how the meeting with the orphanage director goes. I don't think we're going to be coming home for Christmas, because there's a big ball at Christmastime due to the Tournament. I really want to go with my boyfriend. Hope everything is well. georgie

Georgie,
We're fine. All I meant was that we just can't spend too much right now, that's all. Dragots don't go as far as Galleons do, so everything is a little more expensive than we're used to.
I'm glad that you have someone else to spend time with. I'm sure Max will come around.
Of course I'll let you know how the meeting goes. The ball sounds really exciting, and we wouldn't want you to miss it. Do you need dress robes?
Love, Momma

dear mama,
I hope that everything turns out right, for both of us. It's a lot to adjust to. As for dress robes, I could use some, but I'm sure I can find another way to get them. Max's mom offered to buy me some. I don't know if that offer is still on the table with what happened between me and Max, but if it's not in the budget for you...Khadija takes good care of me, mama. I love her more than I thought I could love someone since you left. Tell me if there's any more news about papa and his job. I miss you. georgie

Georgie,
We spoke with the orphanage director. Everything went well, but, apparently, it doesn't matter what the Ministry here says. The Magical Congress of the United States of America still says that we are dead in absentia. (I know that's not exactly what you wanted when you tossed your smoothie at me, but it's close enough.)
Because we're No-Maj-born, we also have to wait for the No-Maj government to communicate with MACUSA to prove that:
1. We haven't done anything fraudulent. 2. We're still alive.
Now, we're stuck waiting for MACUSA to realize that we're not dead, and then we can maybe make some progress. Aside from the letters back and forth with everybody and their mother, life is going on as normal(?) here.
Have a great day.
Love, Your Mother the Ghost

dear mama,
You know I didn't actually want you to be dead. I was just angry. I'm still angry, but I'm sorry about what I said. You didn't deserve that. Even if I don't agree with your choice, you still were trying to keep us safe. I talked with my boyfriend Louis about it, and he helped me to realize that. So, yeah, I'm sorry. And I'm sorry that the United States whatever is being crummy, and I'm sorry that you have to fill out so many forms but you kind of deserve it. You...didn't do anything fraudulent, right? Because I think that maybe the orphanage back in the States claimed your life insurance policy money to help pay for getting us over here and administrative fees and stuff. I don't know, but you might want to look into that. Sorry if you have already. I just want to help. Hope everything is alright with you and papa. Miss you. yours, georgie

Georgie,
No, we never did anything wrong. We're just confusing the system because we're No-Maj-born Muggle-born, and nobody seems to be able to understand that we were using No-Maj Muggle documents until we got here.
Thanks for the lead about the insurance money, sweet girl. Your Papa finally has a job, so we've been busy lately. He's working as a Hit Wizard for the Ministry now. It makes me nervous for him, since we haven't had to use defensive spells for a few years, but he tells me that he's still got it.
We have been looking for somewhere else to stay, now that we can afford it. The people at the Leaky Cauldron are all very nice, though.
I can't believe you've been in school for a month now! How is everything? Do you and Lance need a care package?
Miss you, Momma

dear mama,
I guess this is one of those times where the Statute of Secrecy is really inconvenient; if the Muggles knew that wizards existed, then your paperwork could probably have gone through a lot faster. I know it’s for the better, but I wonder sometimes if the Statute has outlived its usefulness. I kind of wish that we could have a debate class in school to discuss that kind of thing, but I probably wouldn’t have time with all the other clubs I’m in.
I’m glad that Papa has a job now. It must not have been easy living on only one salary. I hope that you guys can be a little more comfortable now – maybe take out another insurance policy or something.
The headmaster’s wife is the landlady of the Leaky Cauldron, did you know that? She’s also a Healer at Hogwarts – I don’t know how that whole schedule thing works, but some of the Hogwarts kids get summer jobs at the Cauldron. I was thinking about trying it sometime, but I’m a little too young yet.
Everything is fine, I guess. I still haven’t talked to Max. We’ll be fine without a care package, mom. We’ve gone without them quite a while already. love, georgie @barbara

Georgie,
The Statute of Secrecy is a hassle, but we can't do much about it. I think you would be good at debating, if you want my opinion. What clubs are you in? I'm sorry that I don't really know what you're into these days. You've grown up so much.
Your Papa and I don't anticipate needing insurance. (That's the point, isn't it?) As part of his job, your Papa has a broom and a dedicated bed at the hospital here, too.
I was told that, though I have yet to meet your headmaster himself. It seems like you kids have been in good hands at Hogwarts. You have plenty of time to decide if you want a summer job, but I would put in a good word for you.
I know you haven't had a care package, which is why you have a box of Cauldron Cakes with this letter.
Love, Momma

dear mama,
Well, my boyfriend’s older sister is the Minister of Magic, so maybe if I asked nicely enough, she could do something about it. I’m in the Anti-Bullying Club, the Frog Choir, and the Gay-Straight Alliance at school. I’m hoping that next year I get picked to be co-captain of one of them. There are a lot of other fifth years in the Gay-Straight Alliance, though and since I’m in a relationship with a boy, most people don’t believe I’m not straight. I guess we’ll have to see what happens.
Are you still going to get it, though? Just in case? Not that I want you to die – been there, done that – but Lance and I are getting old enough now that we could use some money for when the orphanage kicks us out. If you were to die, I mean.
Not sure how good of hands we’re in considering the school was outright attacked in April, but keep on believing that if you’d like. Thanks for the Cauldron Cakes – it’s going to take me forever to eat them all. Hope you and Papa are well.
love, georgie

Georgie,
Really? That's wonderful. I don't want you kids to bother her, but informing the Minister herself might help to speed up the process, especially since your Papa and I are both working.
I think it's great that you're involved in so many clubs, too. What is the Gay-Straight Alliance like? You crossed something out there, but I couldn't read it, but you know that your Papa and I will always love and accept you, Georgiana. (That goes for Lance, too.)
Don't worry! We're still going to get some sort of insurance. (Don't get any ideas.) We know that we could have done more to provide for you two last time, but sending you kids to an orphanage across an ocean wasn't even a possibility to us.
There are a lot of people in this world who don't have the best intentions. Your headmaster and his family seem like good eggs. I'm glad you like the Cauldron Cakes.
Love you, Momma
