Alice chuckled softly at the expression on Lysander's face at her words. "Yeah. That was pretty much my expression, too, when I found out," she said. Alice could remember being extremely upset when her parents had decided to adopt the Lestrange girls; mainly because Natalia was a Ravenclaw and the apple of James's eye. Alice had gotten over it eventually, for she knew that Natalia and Andromeda's home life was awful. That, and she learned to accept them... for the sake of Phil, mainly. Not so much James. She still had never really even spoken to Natalia.
The Hufflepuff alum chuckled softly once again. "No, of course not. I just... I love this. I can't see myself going back to long hair." She smiled as she shook her head around again. "Well, that's good. I haven't seen Carcer much this summer, either. He's a Cursebreaker now. So I bet their mother is holding onto RJ as long as she can," she said a little jokingly. She knew that the baby of the family always got babied. Like, Jayden. She smiled at the thought.

Lysander was glad that Alice hadn’t been offended by the expression on his face when he learned about the adoption of the Lestrange girls. He hadn’t meant to be rude, but if Alice had been overprotective of her new adoptive sisters, that could’ve ended quite poorly. Natalia Lestrange was the year above him, and in his house, so Lysander could only imagine how well the adoption would have gone over if it had occurred during Alice’s anti-Ravenclaw phase. “Has it gotten any better since then?” He asked. Sander didn’t know how he’d adjust if he suddenly had two new siblings to deal with. It probably wouldn’t be pleasant, that was for sure.
“He’s a Cursebreaker and you’re in America, of course you’re not going to see him.” Lysander said, chortling a little at Alice. She must’ve misspoke, because Sander would have been genuinely worried if Alice had seen him over the summer, because it would mean that Carcer had devised a way to find them in the middle of the American wilderness. “But yes, I suppose she would want to hold on.” Sander didn’t understand the whole youngest child phenomenon well, since his only sibling was a twin, but he could only imagine that mothers could be protective of their youngest.

Alice took a moment to think about if things were "better." She really didn't know. Alice hadn't really been home since school got out. Natalia had started working at St. Mungo's and Alice herself had pretty much started studying magizoology right out of school. So their schedules conflicted. But, even if they hadn't, Alice doubted they would talk much. They only had one thing in common as far as Alice could tell and that was James. "I don't know," she finally said a bit sheepishly. "I... I never really have spoken to Natalia, actually."
The blonde rolled her eyes sarcastically at the Ravenclaw. "Oh, you know what I mean," she said through a small smile. "Is your mum that way with you and Lorcan? Sometimes I've wondered what it would be like to be the youngest, and not have any younger siblings at all. To be the one being babied," she mused. Though, Alice rather liked being the oldest and having Phil and Jay has younger brothers. She was certain she couldn't ask for a pair of better brothers.

Lysander shrugged when Alice said she’d never really spoken to Natalia Lestrange. “I guess you have the rest of your lives to get to know each other, right?” If the Lestrange girls had been adopted for real, with all the legal bells and whistles, then they were a part of the Longbottom family until they died. However much Alice might’ve disliked Natalia, she probably didn’t wish death on the girl, so the rest of their lives sounded about right, timewise. “Just remember, she must be a little bit like me, if she’s in Ravenclaw.” Sander reasoned. “And you like me.” There would have been a time when Sander was hesitant to make the claim that Alice liked him, but really, there was no way around it anymore. She had let him cut her hair, and that wasn’t something you just let a friendly acquaintance do…right?
Lysander hummed softly when Alice asked if his mother wanted to hold onto him. “I don’t know.” Sander said after a pause. “I don’t think my mother ever really babied either of us.” Luna was the kind of person who treated everyone as a fully functional human being no matter their particular quirks or eccentricities. Just because Lysander and Lorcan were young didn’t meant they weren’t worthy of respect or incapable of making their own choices, in their mother’s eyes. “She wants to hold on, I guess.” Lysander continued slowly. “But she wants to hold on for our sakes, not for hers. Does that make sense?” Figuring further clarification would help, Sander continued. “She spent most of her life being laughed at for being scatterbrained or naïve or too fantastical. But she saw how beautiful that life was, even with the people who laughed at her.” Sander shrugged. He wouldn’t mind having naïve or strange opinions his entire life if it meant he got to be as happy as his mother.

Alice had not realized at all just how long Natalia was going to be in her life until Lysander said something. And not just because Natalia and Andromeda were now her adoptive sisters, but because Natalia was wiht James. And if Alice ever wanted her best friend back, she would have to get over that fact. Alice just nodded at Lysander's first comment, feeling a little anxious about the future now. Then Lysandder's second statement actually got a little smile out of her. "I suppose that's true," she teased.
The Hufflepuff alum gently bobbed her head side to side again as Lysander spoke. She thought about what he said a moment before shrugging and nodding. "That makes sense. Especially in Lorcan's case," she smirked but then that smirk was quickly replaced with a kind smile. "That's why I've always admired your mum," she said. Aunt Luna was a special kind of person, one that could not easily be replaced and for that, Alice loved her.

Alice smiled at Sander when he said that he liked her, and Sander grinned right back at her. “It is true.” He said matter-of-factly. It was a very Ravenclaw thing of him to say, but now, it probably wouldn’t bother Alice. Hopefully she took his advice to heart, and used it to get close with Natalia. If not close, then at least civil with her, which was better than could be expected of some families.
Alice understood him, which was a good thing. Sometimes the Ravenclaw wondered if anyone really did understand him, but Alice was as close as people seemed to come. Alice and Susan, but the latter he hadn’t seen or written to in some time. Sander smiled when Alice said that she admired his mother. “I thought that you didn’t like Ravenclaws?” Lysander asked, slightly perplexed. Alice had known that the entire time, even when she was in the depths of her anti-Ravenclaw phase. The two things seemed kind of mutually exclusive – you couldn’t admire someone who was also the epitome of the person that you hated.

It was good to have someone to talk to, Alice realized. She and Lysander hadn't been friends long, but it was the type of friendship Alice could see herself having for quite some time to come. Alice looked at Lysander when he said he had thought she didn't like Ravenclaws. It had always been true, but Alice could never hate Luna. She had known Aunt Luna since she was born; her father had seen to that. "You mother is an exception," she smiled lightly. "And... you are too, I guess." Her smile widened at Lysander.
@lysander we can stop here or you do one more but we should wrap this up!

Lysander enjoyed the feeling with being the exception to Alice’s anti-Ravenclaw rule. He was hoping that the rule would be dissolved, but he knew not to hold out hope for that. Sander reached for Alice’s hand and squeezed it softly. “We should probably get back to the campsite.” Even though they had been within shouting distance when Sander had actually been cutting Alice’s hair, now the two of them were a bit far from the campsite. If they were needed, it would be difficult to find them. The Ravenclaw released his friend’s hand, and began the trek back to camp.
