It had been a pretty uneventful summer. Casey had gone off to start his own mediwizard training and Mum and Dad had been a bit too busy with work half the time for them to really spend any time with Saoirse. Though, the last half of the summer they were all able to break away from work and responsibilities to visit family in Ireland and that had been nice but Sao always found her head wandering back to one specific blonde... Jayden Longbottom.
The youngest Longbottom, quite simply, had Saoirse's heart. She had had a crush on him since first year and last year, after she had seen a terrible vision of him, things started to fall into place and the two... seemed to be dating. Saoirse could not have been happier. Though, she was a little disappointed she had only seen him once over the summer. It had been fun, though, nonetheless.
Sao was in the Great Hall and was a little overwhelmed by the extra students that were there. Extra students meant extra possible futures to see and that wasn't really something Saoirse wanted. And with the Tournament Professor Longbottom had announced only moments ago? Saoirse was beginning to feel a bit of anxiety and she wished more than anything that she could find Jayden in the crowd of Gryffindors at their table...

@saoirse why couldn't he have been a year older. oh what he'd have given to be old enough to put his name into the goblet of fire and compete in the tournament. it would be fun to watch though, he'd heard stories growing up of the wonder and danger of the tasks the champions were put through, the trials they endured in order to call themselves champion. the new students that had arrived and jay was looking forward to talking with them, learning about their school and how things were done there. it would be great to learn how different things were. though right at this very moment he was concerned with one thing and that was saoirse. he smiled when he spotted her, weaving his way through the people at various tables and standing in the aisles. he leaned down over her shoulder, as she looked the opposite way and he smiled before placing a quick kiss on her cheek. "over here" he said softly as he made to sit on the bench next to her.

Saoirse bit her lip as she continued to look down the table of lions for her Longbottom. She couldn't wait to wrap her arms around him and just feel his warmth. Then, as if he had maybe been reading her mind... Sao felt a warm, quick kiss on her cheek and her cheeks turned slightly pink as she turned to see just who she had been looking for. A grin quickly spread across her face and she just as quickly wrapped her arms around Jayden's shoulders.
"I missed you," Sao said quietly into his shoulders as she held him close. She didn't pull away for a long moment, wanting to get a big hug in. When she finally did, her hand found his. "Can you believe this?" She asked, referring to the big announcement. "All these people... the school is going to be so crowded!" She said, the worry fairly evident in her voice. But Sao always had been a bit of a worry wart.

@saoirse "I missed you," he smiled as those three words he had been thinking about her were said. he'd missed spending time with her over the holidays but it had been a mental few months. he'd spent as much time as he could with phil and alice, phil during the first half because his brother was on a great adventure in brazil and alice the last half after she'd gotten back from her trip to south america with the scamanders. "i missed you too" he said as he hugged her close and nuzzled his face into the crock of her neck softly. "Can you believe this? All these people... the school is going to be so crowded!" he smiled as he glanced around the great hall. there were a lot more people that was true, but jay loved it. he was a people person, the more people around him the better. "i can. i wish i was old enough to enter the tournament" he said with a soft sigh as he leaned his chin on sao's shoulder lightly an turned back to the table. anything he could do to prove himself worthy of the longbottom name and he was going to do it. plus it had always looked like such fun.

A bright smile finally spread across Sao's face as Jayden nuzzled into her neck. The gesture made her feel warm and fuzzy, and even made her cheeks turn slightly pink but it was a nice feeling nonetheless. She took a moment to relish the feeling being close to him brought her and smiled once more as he leaned his chin on her shoulder. As they turned back to the table and Jayden responded, Sao couldn't help but shoot him a slightly concerned look. "Well. I'm glad you aren't old enough. I don't want you getting hurt," she said quietly. Having friends like Irina, who she knew was probably going to enter, was scary enough.
"I dunno..." Sao shrugged slowly and unsurely. "All these extra people... it makes me uneasy." Sao had never told Jayden about her clairvoyance, even when she had seen that vision of him being hurt last year. That was a lot to lay out on a person and he had already been through a lot. There was a time and a place for everything and that topic's time had not yet arrived.

@saoirse "Well. I'm glad you aren't old enough. I don't want you getting hurt," he smiled slightly and reached his finger to touch her cheek gently. he didn't want her worrying about whether or not he was going to get hurt. regardless of the tournament (even though he couldn't enter) he seemed to have a knack for getting hurt. he always had done and it didn't seem to be something he was going to outgrow. "i have a talent for getting hurt sao" he said softly as he shifted to put some food on his plate with his arm that wasn't still around her waist. "just be thankful they didn't have it last year. you know casey would have entered"
"I dunno... All these extra people... it makes me uneasy." he bit his lip as he looked at her. he didn't like hearing that she felt uneasy, being around people was a good thing for jay, he loved the crowds and the excitement they could generate and the people that he could meet. there wasn't anything about crowds he disliked so he couldn't understand where sao was coming from totally but he'd try. for her. he'd do anything for her. "what can i do to help?" he asked her softly, leaning in closer so she could whisper it to him if it made her feel better, so no one else at the table could hear them.

Saoirse could not help the color that rushed to her cheeks when Jayden lightly brushed her cheek with his finger. His touch always made her warm, and even still made her blush. Unfortunately, Saoirse knew all too well just how much of a trouble magnet Jayden was. Especially after last year's... incident. She simply sighed at his words, for he was right. Her expression changed to one of relief, though her eyes were slightly wide because she knew Casey would have been all over this. "Thank Merlin he graduated," she breathed. "One troublesome lion is enough to worry about." She smiled at Jayden.
It meant so much to Saoirse that Jayden Longbottom, a person who was Captain and Seeker for the Quidditch team, the Headmaster's son, and known by all for his outgoing and loving nature, could speak so softly to her and want to help her feel more easy in social situations such as this one. It brought a genuine smile to her face as she looked at the youngest Longbottom. "As long as you're here, I think I can manage," she responded softly. "I just need... a distraction, I think." She nodded once for solidarity. Yeah, that was all she needed. She needed to calm down. Nothing bad was happening yet, after all.

@saoirse "Thank Merlin he graduated, One troublesome lion is enough to worry about." he mock gasped as he brought his hand to his chest and looked at her with wide eyes. he was teasing of course. "me? troublesome? lil ole me .." he said with a smile. he knew he was trouble, it just seemed to find him as his parents had told him years ago. from the day he'd been born to the day they were no longer around to see what happened to him, they would find him troublesome. in the most lovable of ways. "As long as you're here, I think I can manage," he leaned in closer to her at those words, feeling the need to be close to her in that moment. he wrapped his arm around her waist gently and moved to lean his forehead against hers. "I just need... a distraction, I think." he smiled softly and rubbed his hand across her back as gentle as he could. he wasn't a rough person by nature but it was hard to take your time with something and be gentle about it, though he was trying as hard as he could. "let me distract you?"

At Jayden's teasing, Sao's eyes narrowed into a playful glare. She knew that Jayden knew he was troublesome, and it was definitely something Sao always worried about but she could never ask him to change. As long as she wasn't see him getting seriously hurt again... then his troublesome nature wasn't a problem for her. When he wrapped his arm around her, she felt her breath hitch in the past way. Even after a couple months of dating, she still got unbelievable butterflies whenever they touched. She closed her eyes and let out a peaceful sigh as Jayden offered to distract you. "That... that would be nice, actually," she replied softly with a smile.

@saoirse "That... that would be nice, actually," he smiled slightly as he kept working his fingers over the back of her neck and he looked around quickly. everyone was busy with the new guests and he didn't think they'd notice if he took sao out of the great hall for a little while. he let his hand drop off the back of her neck and he moved to take one of her hands. "lets go for a walk" he said as he made to stand up and he stepped back off the bench they had been sitting on. while he loved being around people he knew that sao sometimes didn't and he was okay with that. he kept hold of her hand as he stood, glancing to the front of the great hall where his parents were sitting. he knew they wouldn't mind, people sometimes skipped dinner for various reasons and it wasn't frowned upon. though he hoped that since tonight the new schools were there it would still be allowed. "we can come back and sneak more food when everyone is gone" he said as he leaned down to kiss her cheek.

The movement Jayden made from the back of her neck to her hand, was a nice one Sao thought. Holding his hands was one of her favorite things. It made her feel safe and happy, knowing that with him at her side, he was safe, too. Sao felt overjoyed and grateful that Jayden seemed to understand that she just needed a break from large crowds sometimes, and she was forever thankful that he was willing to take that step away with her. She smiled as he kissed her cheek and her hand squeezed his gently as he did so. As they exited the Great Hall, Sao let out a breath that she felt like she had been holding forever. "I'm... I'm afraid something bad is going to happen, Jay." She said, looking down at their feet.

@saoirse "I'm... I'm afraid something bad is going to happen, Jay." he stopped and turned to her when she said that. he didn't want her to be worried about something happening. it wasn't their job to worry. well it was but he didn't want her to have to worry about it. he stepped toward her, closing the gap as he saw her look at her feet and he bit his lip. "hey" he said softly as he lifted his hand to touch her chin and he lowered his head to look at her face. "i won't let anything bad happen to you. i promise" he said as he rested his free hand on her shoulder lightly, chewing his lip as he realized how much he meant it. he'd easily die for his family if he thought it would save their lives, he didn't doubt it for a second and in the last few months sao had become one of those people.

Everything almost instantly started to feel better when Jayden closed in on the gap between the two of them. Saoirse felt his hand on her chin and when she looked up, her eyes were met with his. She smiled softly at him, her one hand coming up to rest affectionately on the hand he had on her shoulder as she leaned into his hand on her cheek. "I know that," she said through her small smile. She knew Jayden was fiercely loyal when it came to those he cared about. And while he did have a knack for getting into trouble, he was the type of person that would do anything to protect those he cared about. Saoirse had been able to see that years ago. "I'm... I'm worried about this tournament. This - this can't be a good idea. Not after last year..." Since the night Jayden had been attacked, Saoirse was much more wary of her visions. She was afraid she would see someone getting hurt again. And then when she had seen and felt what Hugo had, that had been even weirder. She was worried something worse was going to happen this year.

@saoirse "I'm... I'm worried about this tournament. This - this can't be a good idea. Not after last year..." he stroked his thumb over her cheek softly and he chewed his lip slightly. he didn't know how to make her feel better. he wished he could, with everything he had he wished that he could put her mind at ease that things were going to be okay. they always would be, no matter what happened sun eventually shone again and he wanted to tell her that. he bit his lip softly and rested his forehead against her lightly. he dropped his hand from her cheek and made to wrap his arm around her waist and he hugged her closer to him, closing any gap that had been between them and he closed his eyes. "last year is a memory .." he said softly. a horrible one but a memory none the less. they had survived and made it through. "anything else that happens will soon become just a memory too."

Even though Saoirse felt an overwhelming bit of worry for what lied ahead, feeling Jayden's thumb on her cheek caused a small, half smile to appear on the blonde's face. When he dropped his hand from her cheek, she almost wanted to grab it and place it back on her cheek but she didn't, for he leaned his forehead against hers and wrapped his arm instead around her waist and pulled her close to him which made Sao's heart skip a lovely beat. His words helped a little; she knew what he meant. But the fact that Sao would probably have to live through more trauma like last year with the one's she loved... it scared her. "I'm... scared, Jay," she finally admitted out loud. "Scared for what may come."
