The Orchestra club was meeting in the Great Hall. Andy always liked having their rehearsals here considering this was where they did their performances. It was October second, their first rehearsal of the year. September was such a busy month with school and the tournament hype that Andy had decided it was best to give it a month before starting.
All the instruments had already been brought in ahead of time, most likely with the help of house elves. Well, the instruments that students didn't bring themselves. Andy waited patiently, sitting on a chair with her violin case on the floor beside her. Her Co-Captain this year was Callie Abrams, a girl in her house whom she hadn't talked to much. She was excited to work with her. Heck, she was just excited for the distraction, and hopefully joy, this club would bring.
Andy's plan today was to have everyone introduce themselves and hand out their set for the year. There were a few songs that she wanted their opinions on, though, so she'd ask them about that as well. This was the place where Andy did the most talking in her life when here. Here she was the most comfortable.
(OOC: Post in any order! Just jump on in, keep it as short or as long as you like! Once you've posted you'll see an X by your name, just so I can keep track. Also, heads up, I'm not super crazy about having a strict posting order for this one so just do what you gotta do. If you can't do this thread, no worries! Just let Suzie know!)

Janae walked to the Great Hall where they were practicing for Orchestra. Coming to practice always felt like coming home. In front of the piano is where she new she belonged. Even though the excitement to practice her new charm mixed with her music distracted her a bit she was happy to be here with the Orchestra. She had to practice her concoction alone so she would be able to show everyone when it was perfected.
Andromeda asked everyone to introduce themselves. Janae decided to get going first and just get it out of the way. The longer she waited the more nervous she got. It was silly to be nervous, she had played with most of them before. But they weren't as close as she would have liked. "Hey I am Janae Wood." She started. Shoot she had forgotten to think of what else to say. There was a bit of an awkward silence but then she pulled herself together. "I play the piano, obviously, and sing a bit. And that is basically what I want to do. There, that is me." That felt a little stupid but it was over. By the time everyone else introduced themselves they would probably forget everything she said.

Lena didn't particularly like anyone touching her cello, even inside its case, but the darn thing was a mess to tote around, especially from her dorm on the fifth floor all the way to the Great Hall. It seemed even more of a burden to force the house elves to carry the massive thing, but they didn't seem to mind. And they always treated her cello with the utmost care, something Lena greatly appreciated.
She slid in through the doors of the Great Hall and made a beeline to her instrument case, which lay pristine and untouched by her usual chair. She flipped open the latches on the case and beamed at the polished wood. She carefully withdrew the cello and its accompanying bow and leaned them against her lap. She rosined up her bow and lightly drew it across the thick strings. A gentle, albeit slightly sharp, trill echoed through the hall, and her face lit up. The first sound of practice was hers, and it sounded lovely. She offered a small wave to the other students and the ones arriving after her and went to work tuning her instrument. She was itching to get the rehearsal underway.

Irina was very excited for the first Orchestra Club meeting; she felt that with everything else the other students had going on, she barely got to spend time with anyone else from Orchestra. Andy Lestrange and she shared a dormitory of course, so they were friendly, but they bonded most over their love of music. Rina had fallen in love with the flute when her parents took the four Krum children to a grand orchestra concert when she was nine in Russia; she had insisted her parents get her flute lessons until she went to Hogwarts. She discovered she had a natural talent for the instrument, but because of her athleticism and family name, she kept her musicality to herself for the most part. Not even Dan had heard her play before; but maybe that would change this year since he was staying at the castle.
Rina entered the room and saw Andy already there - her dedication to Orchestra Club had made her the perfect candidate for Team Captain and Rina couldn’t have been more happy for her. She was also excited to see Janae. “Hey Andy, Janae! I didn’t know you played an instrument,” she called over to them, nudging the Hufflepuff’s shoulder with her own lightly. She grasped her flute case in her hand; the silver instrument was lying inside on a bed of blue silk, ready to be played. She was curious what pieces of music Andy planned on selecting for them this year, and couldn’t wait to find out.

Callie had walked into the Great Hall with a big smile on her face, and her guitar case and her bag flung over her shoulder. It was the first day of the Orchestra meeting and she was nervous, but excited. Her captain was Andromeda Lestrange, and although they were in the same house, Callie hadn't really spoken to her much before.
She spotted Andy and grinned, taking a seat next to her and setting down her bag and her guitar. "Hi, Andy, correct? I'm Callie." That was probably a dumb thing to say, Andromeda most likely already knew who she was. Three other girls had entered, and Callie smiled at each one, only really knowing Irina. The other two she knew by face, so thankfully this group was going to allow her to meet more people.

Liona entered the Great Hall with her viola case gripped tightly in hand. She was glad that they'd waited until October to have the first Orchestra meeting. It gave her plenty of time to get back into the swing of things at Hogwarts before having to break out her viola. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy playing viola; she was very fond of the instrument and it was actually the one she'd chosen for herself to play. Playing as a whole, however, was something that her parents had thrust upon her as one of those things required of her as a member of the House of Zabini. Her mother had excelled at the piano as a child, her father was fond of the cello and every other family member she'd heard of or met had one or two instruments they played. When she'd turned 5, her father had given her the option of instruments and, in an attempt to impress him, she'd gone for the viola. She'd been playing since she was five and when she wanted a quick escape, she'd bring out her viola and play for an hour or two.
She looked around at the students that'd already arrived. A few she'd recognized from around school or from seeing here in the Great Hall during meals. One she recognized as family. Or almost family at one point. She gave a small smile and nod of recognition to Andromeda Lestrange, the girl who used to be betrothed to her cousin Scorpius. She wasn't really sure what exactly had, he never gave her full details for some reason. She knew they weren't betrothed any longer and had been so for quite some time now. She'd seen her around time and again and Scorpius never really brought her up. That must have been the end of that then. Maybe she would talk to her a little bit later, just to see how she'd been of course.
Liona found herself a seat and sat her viola case on her lap. Only one person had began working on their instrument. She wouldn't pull hers out until they actually started playing. She wondered what the music selection would be like this year.

@orchestra jay flexed his fingers as he took a seat at the piano in the great hall. it was the first meeting back of the year and he hadn't really done any work on the piano since the last school year, his summer had been busy with his family and helping out in the cauldron and you know, like not dying. which he had come close too if he believed his father. he ran his fingers smoothly over the keys to start warming up as he glanced up above the body of the piano and saw more people arriving. he cast a quick glance at andy as she waited there for them, being the captain and all. he was worried about her, he had been all summer. something was different and he didn't like it, he wanted her to be okay. that's all he wanted for her

As everyone started coming in, Andy was mostly silent, giving a nod here and there. Then Callie came in and greeted her and Andy stood, holding a hand out to her co-captain. "Callie, hi. Nice to officially meet you. Excited to be working with you this year," she said softly, smiling. She really was excited about being captain and all now, though she didn't think it would be that different. She had already chosen some music selections and was excited to discuss some others with Callie as well. She was thrilled about having two piano players, because then she could choose the pieces that required four hands. She smiled at Irina as the fellow Gryffindor Seventh year greeted her but stayed silent for the most part as everyone got settled. Finally, everyone was in place. "Welcome to the first orchestra meeting, everyone. I'm Andy L-" she paused. She didn't want to say her real last name, but she didn't want to say her adopted families last name... she realized that was the first time she'd thought about that. She continued, "just Andy. I'm the Captain and I play the Violin. First off I'd like everyone to introduce themselves. Name, instrument, and whatever else. We'll start here and go around," she gestured to Janae Wood to start the circle. She gestured to the Hufflepuff who then proceeded to say that she played the piano and sang. Andy didn't notice the awkward pause, she was too busy trying to sit up straight and look attentive as people spoke. "Thanks Janae. I'm excited to have two piano players this year. Helena, go ahead," she chimed in, gesturing to the next person. (Post in any order babes. @janae is next @helena Irina Rose Krum @lionaanna @henry (@liv , jump in any time!))

Irina smiled at Janae and seemed surprised that Janae played the piano. Hopefully someday it would be more than that. It was nice knowing someone like Irina to help her fit in a a bit. Irina helped the awkward moment not seem so awkward.
"Hey Andy. It will be fun being in the orchestra this year. Hopefully I can add some good things to this group. I think it will be awesome to have two piano players." Janae smiled over at Jayden. She didn't know if the Orchestra would like to use her idea but it might help their orchestra be better then ever if it is successful.
(suzie edit: @helena 's turn!)

Lena stopped playing and looked up as Andy began to speak. She cringed as the captain asked them to introduce themselves and looked around at the other students. She didn't like talking about herself. No matter what she said, she always felt conceited. "Uh, yeah, I'm Lena. I'm a seventh year Ravenclaw. I play the cello." She used her bow to point at the instrument between her legs, as if it wasn't already obvious what she played. She'd been playing it from the moment she removed it from its case while the others took their places. The silence that stretched in the air after she stopped playing to introduce herself made her uncomfortable. "So, yeah, that's me. Someone else go."Irina Rose Krum

Irina smiled and stood up next. "Hi," she said with a slightly awkward wave. "I'm Irina, I'm a seventh year and I play the flute," she said, gesturing to the long silver instrument in her hands. "I've been playing since I was nine; a family friend got me into playing," she added, thinking fondly of Louisa Hoh as she sat back down, giving a smile to Callie, the new co captain of the club.

Callie nodded at Andy and sat down, listening to their captain on how the first meeting was going to go. She wanted everyone to introduce themselves, eh, sounded easy enough. As they went down the line of the members, Callie smiled and gave a nod to each one and then it was her turn.
"Hello everyone, I'm Callie Abrams and I'm the co-captain this year. I play the guitar, which I've played since I was about seven years old." Callie turned her eyes to the girl next to her, Liona, awaiting her introduction. "Go ahead, Liona."

Liona gave a nod to Callie Abrams at her encouragement. "Hello I'm Liona Zabini. I play the viola and I look forward to working with you all this year," she gave a polite greeting to those in the room.
It seemed that this was going to be an interesting year for orchestra. There were plenty of noticeable last names. She'd noticed Irina Krum before by face but had never known her name until now. How interesting for her to become close to Andromeda. Liona nodded at the guy that was sitting next to her.
