There was an amazing turnout to the meeting, Imogen thought. Just when she assumed that everyone was present, another person filed in through the door. The cookies that Cecelia brought seemed to be a hit, so Imogen supposed that she couldn't be too mad at the girl. At least not when everyone else was present. It still wasn't appropriate for a captain to be late to their own meeting, but that was a conversation for another time. When one of the students, a Slytherin girl, asked Imogen if she had made the cookies, she shook her head. "The elves were kind enough to make them for us." She answered. Imogen snapped to attention when she heard the word 'vomit', but sighed a little in relief when she saw it was just Xan Meagle. All of the teachers had been told about Xan's condition, so Imogen was certain that she could handle whatever was going to happen. Though the trashcan was probably a good idea, and she shot the student who had offered it to Xan a quick smile. "If you would all be so kind as to sit, Cecelia's going to explain what we're doing for the rest of the meeting." Imogen paused. "You can take a cookie with you, but please be careful not to get crumbs everywhere." The house elves had already done quite a bit of work on their account, and Imogen didn't want to make everything more complicated.

Professor Zhu seemed to have forgiven her for her lateness, and Cecelia sighed a little in relief. A lot of people were here, she thought, slightly stunned. Even Chantal had come! Cecelia smiled at her friend, reciprocating the bises with an air of happiness about her. Things seemed to be going right, at least for now. Roxy Weasley, a girl in Cecelia's house and year asked her what the designs on the cookies meant, and she rattled off as many as she could. "The rainbow is homosexual; the pink, yellow and blue one is pansexual; the pink, purple, and blue one is bisexual, the white, pink and blue one is transgender; the grey, white and purple one is for asexual..." Cecelia paused to take a breath. "Actually, if you want, I can just write this down for you, or tell you later or something." Cecelia said, blushing faintly at the realization that she had probably been talking too quickly for the other girl to keep up with. "It looks like the meeting is about to start." Cece said, gesturing towards their teacher sponsor. As Cecelia had expected, Professor Zhu asked the students to move to a seat, and Cecelia made her way from the cookie table to the front of the room, though not before snagging a random cookie for herself. "Hi guys!" She said, a little too enthusiastically. "My name's Cecelia Rousseau," as if the whole school didn't know that already, "And I'm really excited to be the Captain of the GSA this year!" Okay, this bubblegum crap wasn't going to fly. "I thought that today, since it's our first meeting, we could talk a little about coming out of the closet. If anyone has something they'd like to share, just go ahead and talk. We don't need to raise hands." Her voice sounded normal that time, at least, but Cecelia hoped she had chosen an interesting topic.

Zaire had been running late and had known the GSA meeting was going to begin shortly. That knowledge didn't stop him from taking his sweet time getting there. He'd thought about skipping the meeting anyway but it was the first meeting of the semester so he thought he might show his face. When he entered the classroom, it seemed as if he entered just before the festivities were due to began. He noticed the cookies everyone had been holding first but he didn't care enough to get one. He was just about to look for a seat when a familiar face caught his eye. His lovely supposed to be bride and his best friend Theodosia was standing with a partially eaten rainbow cookie in her hand. He raised an eyebrow at her. What was she doing here? Was it possible...? He also noticed that Lucy Weasley was present as well. He didn't think it possible that she could have dragged Theodosia to the meeting because if she hadn't actually wanted to be here he was sure she would not have come. He couldn't assume though. Apparently they needed to have a chat. Her being a lesbian would explain why she wasn't interested in him. As utterly into her as he was he'd be happy to put this pining nonsense to rest. When the girl who seemed to be running the show called for everyone's attention, he quickly took a seat, eyes still seemingly trained on Theodosia, a look of utter intrigue on his face. A chat was definitely required.

Jamie smiled at her sister when Max entered the room; it was nice to see that her little sister was taking interest in clubs, especially a club like the GSA. When they had talked and painted nails over the summer, Max had come out to Jamie, and the Hufflepuff was glad to see that her sister was working on integrating herself more into the LGBTQ+ community, even if she wasn't willing to be all the way out yet. Jamie munched happily on her cookie as the conversation swirled around her, mostly pleasantries and greetings. Professor Zhu and Cecelia called the meeting to order, so Jamie sat down hurriedly, not wanting to hold the meeting up. Cecelia said they'd be talking about coming out, and Jamie had to resist the urge to glance at Max. She would do it when she was ready.
Cecelia opened the floor to comments from the group, and Jamie glanced around to make sure no one was going to say anything first before she spoke. "Well, I never really had to come out to my mom." Jamie said. "And even if I had, I think the discovery that my dad was a genocidal werewolf was a lot more shocking than a sexuality would ever be." Then again, maybe that hadn't come as a shock to her mom. Jamie didn't know anymore. In any case, there were a lot worse things for Jamie to do than to date a girl, especially one as amazing as Harper Weasley.

There were more people in the room than Max had expected to turn up for the meeting, and apparently the school elves were the ones who had gone to the trouble of making the treats that were there for them. At Professor Zhu's instruction, she found a desk and sat.
Cecelia Rousseau was certainly cheerful as she introduced herself to the room, and Max hoped that she wouldn't have to play any games to break the ice between herself and the rest of her peers. Since it was their first meeting of the year, that seemed like the sort of thing that they might be expected to do.
Instead, Maxima tried not to sink down under the desk in front of her as she finished the rest of the cookie she had grabbed. They would be discussing coming out of the closet. After Theodosia's comment about her not knowing that she had swung her “way”, Max could only wonder how obvious it was to the other students in the room that she had never felt attraction towards anyone. She didn't think that being gay was a bad thing at all, but she didn't want any of them to get the wrong idea about her, all because she had shown up.
Thankfully, Jamie was the first of the group to share her story, which took some of the pressure off. She explained that she had never actually come out to her mother, which made Max begin to wonder if her own mother might have had some inkling that she was… different. “I think the discovery that my dad was a genocidal werewolf was a lot more shocking than a sexuality would ever be.”
Max gave Jamie a small smile, her own confidence boosted. Anyone who could handle having had a child by Fenrir Greyback could handle that other revelation. Sharing something that she had only expressed to Jamie in a room full of people who must have thought of her as a weirdo didn't seem like the best idea, though.

Georgie shook her head when Louis offered to get her a cookie. She was hungry, but not hungry enough to want to deal with a confrontation with Max, especially not in front of the people who continued to come into the room. Georgie was surprised by the number of Slytherins in the room; she would’ve thought that their intolerance spread far beyond blood purity, but apparently not. Georgie offered Tania a smile when her roommate approach Georgie and her boyfriend. Tania was fine, as far as Georgie was concerned, though she hadn’t ever spent an appreciable amount of time with the girl beyond when they were sleeping, which didn’t really count.
When Cecelia announced that the meeting was starting, Georgie moved to a row of three desks, sitting in the middle of the row so Louis could be on one side and Tania could be on the other. Georgie sighed when Cecelia said that the topic for the day was coming out. She had just written to her mother to tell her about her aspirations about becoming the co-captain of the club the next day, so the context of her coming out was a little different than most, she assumed. “My mom disappeared when I was little and now that she’s back, I have a boyfriend, so it seems kind of pointless to come out at all.” Georgie knew that having a boyfriend didn’t erase her sexuality, but given that she couldn’t see herself breaking up with Louis anytime soon, it just seemed silly to make a fuss.

The meeting officially began as Professor Zhu and Cecelia spoke, and Tatiana was relieved when she realized that Georgiana had saved her a seat next to her in a row of three. On Georgie's other side was Louis, with various other students around them. There were even students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang there, which was a pleasant sight to see. She tried to keep an encouraging smile upon her face as her peers shared their experiences.
As she was looking around the room for someone else to break the silence, Tania's eyes fell upon Xanthippe Meagle. She offered her a smile, too. From what she had heard, the older girl hadn't been well or able to attend her classes.
So far, the only other people who had shared anything about their own experiences with coming out had been her fellow Hufflepuffs. Going against everything that the little voice in her head kept saying, Tania decided to speak up after her roommate. “I'm actually still in the closet to my parents,” she explained, breathing out as she tapped her fingers against the top of the desk at which she was sitting. “I feel like they want me to be exactly like them,” she said, “but I'm not. I love Quidditch, but I'm also gay, and I'm not going to change for them.” Tania didn't know if it was even possible for her to change, but a weight felt as though it had been lifted from her shoulders.

When Theodosia heard their topic of conversation for the rest of the day, she rolled her eyes. It figured that they'd have a conversation about coming out of the closet when she was in the room with a bunch of the people with whom she was closeted. Theodosia had to resist the urge to glance over at Zaire, instead staring forward, not even bothering to look at the various Hufflepuffs who were sharing their stories. It was all mushy-gushy stuff about not needing to come out or being happy with who they were or something like that. Theo turned to Lucy, raising an eyebrow at the other girl. She still wasn't entirely sure how Lucy identified, but it was definitely going to hurt her reputation - and, by extension, Hexen's - if she said anything that made her seem lovey dovey. Theo wasn't going to stop Lucy from doing what she wanted to do, of course, unless it came to outing Theodosia herself, in which case the older girl would be hexed halfway to Sunday. She kept resolutely silent even when people's eyes roamed towards her. She wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of sharing her story, which wasn't even much of a story in the first place.

Liona looked around at the crowd that had gathered for the club's meeting. As the students filed in, there were a few more faces that she recognized and was pleasantly surprised to notice that a few other Slytherins had joined the club. When professor Zhu spoke, Liona's attention moved from scanning the room to her and then Cecelia. She listened as Cecelia's excited voice spoke out to the room. She sounded overly excited which had to mean that she had something special planned right? Liona found herself looking forward to the rest of the meeting. When she brought up the topic of coming out, Liona became curious. She guessed it was a pretty basic topic to begin with considering it was the first meeting but Liona couldn't help thinking they could have started with something better. Like the flags. She'd brought LGBTQ+ flags cookies, why couldn't they start with an explanation of those, people had to be curious to what they all meant.
Liona listened intently as a few of the students spoke out, sharing their stories of them coming out or not coming out to people important to them. She didn't care to come out to her parents. They'd find out when she brought her future wife home. From the badges on their robes it seemed the Hufflepuffs were more than happy to share their stories. If she wanted to look good to the others, she had to throw herself out there a little more. Or she had to pretend to throw herself out there a little more. "Coming out seems odd to me. I mean we should all be able love who we want without having to explain to anybody why we love who we love. Those who I care about can find out about my sexuality when they receive their wedding invitations," she gave a dismissive shrug and a smile. There, that should do it. It was for the cause without being too personal. It showed support for the others in the room without showing weakness.

Xan lifted her head a little when she heard the sound of something scraping against the floor. A trashcan. Great. She sighed a little, then looked at Lucy. "I'm not going to throw up." She muttered mutinously. She just needed a little time to get her body to calm down, and then she'd be fine. Everyone else moved into seats, which made Xan feel a little better, since she was no longer the only one at a desk. Xan laid her head back down, trying to focus on the words that were being said. Everything was slipping in and out of focus like a shoddy camera, and eventually Xan gave up on trying to understand what was going on. She hoped that she didn't seem rude, just laying on her desk, but Xan felt like the meeting was important to go to, even if she couldn't participate at all.

Sander was a bit confused about the question they were being asked. What was coming out, and why did that even matter? He listened to what others had to say, and then realized that they meant that they had to tell their parents about their sexualities. Well, that was stupid. Sander couldn't say for sure that his mother knew he liked boys, but that hardly mattered to her, as long as he was happy. It seemed silly to him that they had to tell everyone in the first place, when it would be just as easy to bring his boyfriend home for dinner one night and introduce him as such. Since Sander hadn't ever thought to tell anyone that he was gay, let alone actually done such a thing, he didn't have anything to say, and busied himself instead with eating a cookie.

Viola, like many others, wasn't impressed with this topic. She didn't have anything to say about it, because, like some others were saying, coming out wasn't a thing that should have been necessary. And it hadn't been, for her, because she was a picture-perfect lesbian, which was frustrating in and of itself. Viola considered propping her feet up on the desks, but decided against it - this didn't seem to be the kind of crowd that would appreciate that sort of casualness. Viola glanced over at Maxima and rolled her eyes, even though Max's sister had been one of the people to share her coming out story. She wasn't sure whether or not the younger girl had seen her, but it was enough of a mutiny that she was able to stay quiet and not scoff at how ridiculous the topic was.

Cecelia listened, interested as the various members of the club offered up their opinions. She was rather surprised about the amount of people who expressed the sentiment that they hadn't seen coming out as a necessity, but tried not to let her surprise show so no one would think that she was judging. She offered an encouraging smile when Tatiana Krum said that she wasn't going to change for her parents, but otherwise kept a rather neutral expression, much for the same reason she didn't show her surprise - just in case it made anyone uncomfortable. When it seemed that everyone who was going to share had put in their bit, Cecelia smiled winningly at the group. "Thank you to everyone who shared." She said. "If you have any comments about the meeting, please feel free to come see me. Otherwise, you're free to go." The meeting had been rather short, but Cecelia didn't want to drain too much of everyone's time.

It seemed he should not have come to meeting at all. Of all of the topics she could have picked, of all of the things going on in the LGBTQ+ wizarding community she decided to go with 'coming out' as the topic for today's meeting. It was a basic topic, uninteresting and boring. Just like the other people who were taking part in the discussion. So instead of focusing or commenting on the topic, he focused on his betrothed. Not outright of course but he watched her from the corner of his eye, seeing how she looked at people. Seeing if he could pick up on anything from her. Like why she was here at the meeting. Yeah, they would definitely be chatting about this at a later time. It would come up whether he brought it up or not. Once it seemed as if everyone was done talking and the leader of the bunch stood up again, effectively dismissing everyone, he stood up, looked at Theodosia once more in an attempt to catch her eye or even just to nod at her in greetings, and then out the door he went. He wasn't sure if he would show back up to another meeting or not. If this meeting was any indication on how the others meetings would go for the rest of the year, you could absolutely count him out. Or maybe they just needed a new captain. He walked back down the hall headed back towards the dungeons.

Well, that meeting had felt...short. Jamie wasn't going to complain about that, though, since there was some planning she needed to do for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, and a few extra credit assignments for Potions...Now that she thought about it, there was actually a long list of things that she needed to do, and Jamie was glad that Cecelia had called the meeting finished when she did. Jamie reached over to tap her sister on the arm. "I'm going to go back to the common room to get some homework done, but if you want to eat dinner together, come and find me, yeah?" She asked her sister with a smile. After waiting a moment to hear Max's reply (or lack of reply - either was fine), Jamie exited to start checking items off her to-do list. maxima ruqayyah greyback
