Dom was actually looking forward to this afternoon. He had bumped into Xavier that morning and suggested that they do a study session together in the Common Room. Dom was obsessed with school, always wanting to know more and be better, so he studied relentlessly when his affections weren't... elsewhere. He arrived in the Common Room at the designated time and crossed to his favorite table, raising his eyebrow at a few first years sitting there. He didn't even have to say anything and they quickly scurried out of his way. The first years had learned pretty fast how things worked around Dominic, much like all the other students had learned years ago. If you didn't get out of his way, you had to pay.
He spread his books and parchment about, being sure to make room for Xaviers things as well. He laid out his quills and surveyed them, still standing by the table, deciding which one to start with for his potions essay...

@dominic Xavier wasn't late. He was never late. However he did want to say good bye to Liv, which meant leaving the common room a little later than he had wanted to. As a result he had only been a few moments early. He watched Dominic come in, scare away the first years and sit down. Good. Xavier didn't want to deal with the children. He strode toward the table, as if he hadn't just been watching. It was none of Dominic's business if he had. They were here to study. Which was just fine with Xavier. He found that he could get some very good ideas from people when they studied together. "Where do you want to start? he asked, not bothering to say hello as he sat down at the table and spread his books out in front of him. He had at least three potions books, some of which may not have been Hogwarts approved, however they were from his personal collection. Plus they gave him some great ideas on how to make his potions even better than others.

Xavier arrived, late, and Dom didn't look up as the other joined him at the table. "Potions, I'd say. How's your girlfriend," he kept his eyes on the materials in front of him as he spoke, not bothering to look up even then. Dom could guess why his friend wasn't there at the agreed time. Dom had been there before. In fact, Xavier would recall that Dom was late to the last meeting with Elaine because he was too busy fooling around with Raven and lost track of time. Dom didn't judge Xavier for wanting to spend time with Liv. He understood that. Still, he was a little jealous that he was second priority, as silly as that was.

@dominic Xavier bristled at the casual mention of Liv. It wasn't that he didn't like talking about her. Well he would prefer to not talk about anything. But that couldn't be helped. It was just... something in the tone of his voice? "She's fine. What's it to you?" he asked, not hostile, just questioning. He pulled out his potions books and notes, he would need to add to his notes anything Dominic had. Liv was going to need to know it and he wanted to make sure he could tell her accurately. "How's Raven?" he asked back, knowing it probably wouldn't make the boy uncomfortable, but for some reason people liked to talk about things like this. Or so Liv told him.

Dom nodded as Xavier said Liv was fine. That was all well and good. He asked what about him and Dom raised an eyebrow. He and Raven were together now, sure, but they were on and off so he wasn't sure who Xavier was referring to exactly. Then Xavier clarified and Dom grinned, "she's well enough, Xavier. Thanks for asking," Dom could be polite when talking to people he liked. "Okay, take a look at this page," he started, pushing it over to Xavier. They were in different years and therefore Xavier was in a lower level class, but Dom and he still liked to work together. An odd pair of 'friends'.

@dominic So Raven was good. Great. Xavier didn't really care, but whatever. Dom pushed his book over, telling Xavier where to look. This was why he had come in the first place. Dominic was a year ahead of Xavier, but they always seemed to learn more when they worked on these things together. Which worked out just fine for Xavier, the more he could learn the better. He read through the words on the page Dom pointed too and nodded. "It sounds like they want you to add the first two ingredients together, but then in the next set of instructions it tells you to add the wormroot after the first ingredient, not the first two." He hated when people didn't say what they meant.
