Liona casually leaned up against the wall near the Slytherin Common room entrance. Arithmancy was going to start soon and she'd promised her cousin that they would walk together today. She and Scorpius often walked to the classroom together. They walked together when ever she wasn't busy social climbing, anyway. She grinned at the thought.
Scorpius Malfoy was her cousin through her mother's side of the family. Her mother, the beautiful Daphne Zabini nee Greengrass, and her aunt, Professor Malfoy while in school and Aunt Tori while visiting Malfoy Manor, were super close so she was actually able to meet her side of the family. As far as she knew, Scorpius was her only cousin as her father had no siblings. It was really nice to have a cousin who was so like you that you didn't really even need best friends. That seems like blasphemy coming from Liona though. Scorpius was an all around great guy and a great friend to have in your corner. He was incredibly popular, due in part to both his lineage, his good looks, and his great personality. Scorpius was relatively nice to everyone. That didn't mean he was without his enemies though and that personality trait even made him some people's enemy. Purebloods throughout the school labeled him a 'blood traitor', what little that meant anyway. Those were people too stupid to know that the best way to rise above anyone, pureblood, half-blood, and muggleborn alike, was to make them like you. It is much better to be in someone's good graces rather than having them hate you. This Liona knew from personal experience. This is one of the reasons why she admired her cousin, granted that his reason were different from hers. He wasn't a cruel person, yet he still managed to be an elite.
Liona huffed as she looked around for a clock. Where was he? He was going to make them late. She didn't care about the punctuality bit but she did like Arithmancy and she didn't want to miss any part of the lesson.

Scorp had been trying to find Rose. Ever since Ondina had spilled the beans about him kissing her again over the summer. Could he be any more stupid! He was glad to be meeting with Liona, though. To get his mind off all this. She would know about his on again off again relationship with Ondina, of course, but she didn't no about Rose. No one did. Scorp had made sure of that.
He stopped searching and leaned against a wall, completely discouraged. Was Rose ever going to forgive him for this? He wouldn't blame her if she didn't. He was an idiot, he knew that. He knew that better than anyone else right now- aaand, he was an idiot who was going to make he and his cousin late for class!
He hurried toward the dungeons and found her waiting there, clearly starting to get impatient with him. "Li! Sorry," he called to her, jogging up, "I lost track of time," it wasn't like Scorpius Malfoy to loose track of time, so it was very possible that she'd gather that he wasn't himself right now.

Liona pouted as Scorpius approached, saying he lost track of time. That wasn't like him. Upon further inspection he seemed a little bit distracted as well, which also was not like him. He was usually really good about being focused on the moment at hand and didn't seem to usually be bothered by anything. Something was going on.
Liona's pout fell away before she gave her cousin a sweet smile. "Lost track of time? Come on Scor, you're the older one and the more sensible one of the both of us. You keep me in check." It was true actually. He tended to be the more sensible one of the both of them. He was also smarter and she wasn't afraid to sing praises for her cousin because he simply was a cool guy. And while this sometimes made her jealous of him, it didn't last long. She knew she was just as awesome as he was. Clearly excellence ran in the family.
She approached him though and linked arms with him, slightly tugging him in the direction they were supposed to be moving to get to class. If he was troubled, she was hoping he would spill, plus she just wanted to get a general update on his life. "No worries though dearest cousin. Come, walk with me, talk with me. I feel like I haven't even seen you since the summer. What have you been up to?" she smiled as she strolled alongside him. If he was going to spill, class could wait. She just wanted to make sure he was okay.

Scorpius was happy to see that pout, if only because she looked so cute making it. It reminded him of when they were kids and things were way more simple. But then the sweet smile took it's place and Scorp was even happier to see that look. He chuckled as she talked of him being the older and more sensible one, about keeping her on track. "I know, I know. I let you down, I'm sorry," now it was his turn to pout. He'd always been the more responsible and academic of the two, so in a way this conversation wasn't all sweet talk.
He was happy that she approached to link arms with him and he gladly followed her tugging. "I agree. This school year has been mad," he sighed. "I've been busy with prefect duties, I quit the quidditch team," he frowned. He loved quidditch, but he just didn't have time for it this year or the emotional stability right now. He was the biggest mess he'd ever been, and it was all because of girls. He mentally rolled his eyes at himself. "Ondina has been a pain, too. We're both prefects and still on the chess team, and she's just... not happy with me," he shook his head, turning toward his cousin, "maybe I should just quit romance for a few years. What do you think?"

At Scorpius' pout, Liona grinned and shook her head, patting his arm. "It's ok. Who knows. Maybe this is all of the encouragement I need to become the responsible one. I'd never disappoint you like that" she teased. In reality she knew that was very unlikely. He was not one to forget often anyway and whatever was going on with him was a big enough distraction that he'd lost track of time so it must be something serious.
Liona listened to him intently as he talked about what school had been like for him since he arrived. She frowned when he mentioned that he'd quit the quidditch team. That was such a bummer! Liona didn't follow quidditch all that much to begin with but she did only because he played. She would go to a game or two when he asked just to cheer him and their house on. The games were fun because of the crowd and their excitement but overall she wasn't really interested in the sport. Their team lost a great player and they would never be the same.
With the mention of Ondina Weasley and his ongoing issues with her, Liona furrowed her brow. Was that it? The silly Weasley girl he'd once dated was giving him trouble? "That's all that's bothering you? Do you still have feelings for her? For someone as sweet and kind as you, you sure picked a real-- well she's not what I would call sweet" Liona had to catch herself before she said something rude. She didn't really know Ondina but through what Scorpius had told her about her and just knowing that she was associated with Hexen gave her all of the information she needed about her. Maybe I should just quit romance for a few years. What do you think?" At his words Liona gasped and placed her hand over her heart dramatically. "Quit romance? Scorpius you're going to break all of those little fourth and fifth year girls' hearts! You have a duty to them!" she sighed jokingly before breaking out into laughter. "Seriously though Scor forget her! There's bound to be someone out there better for you. And while I can't speak from experience, I know love isn't supposed to be that difficult" She mumbled the middle part. Being in love seemed like the best feeling in the world just from what she'd seen of others. She coveted it really but she hadn't found someone to even try to feel that way about much less found someone who feels that way about her. It made her a little sad actually. Only a little though. Scor deserved the best and she wanted him to find someone who knew he was the best and treated him as such.

Scorp let out a relieved sigh as she patted his arm. Just that touch was enough to calm him down immensely. "Well, now you know how it feels, I suppose," he said with a short chuckle, confirming what she had teased about. He wanted to immediately stop in his tracks and turn to face her full on and tell him everything that was bothering him. Scorp always knew that he'd be a hopeless romantic, that came with the territory of living with his parents. They taught him that family was number one and marriage was the most important part of family. He had even entertained the idea of what would have happened if he and Ondina did eventually get married, that's how important he thought it was. So, as much as he hated it, he shouldn't have been surprised that his problems with these girls was troubling him so much.
There it was, her brow furrowing at the mention of Ondina. Just like everyone else, Liona wasn't the biggest fan of that relationship either. But people didn't know her like he did! Had. Had known her.
Her questions weren't surprising and neither was her almost saying something rude about Ondi. Ondina. He shook his head, "no, no... but, our last break up was especially brutal. And... we may or may not have had a one day thing this summer. More like one hour," he groaned dramatically.
Then her hand was over her heart at his suggestion and he was leaning in to hear her answer. He actually smiled at her joke about the fourth and fifth year, but he didn't laugh yet. He knew she was right, of course, about forgetting Ondina. Someone better for him was indeed out there, in Rose. But that was difficult too. Not with her, but with other people because of her. "You're right," he agreed with a nod. "I'll forget her. I'll date again once you date," he teased, nudging her with his elbow.

When he mentioned his one hour thing with Ondina over the summer, she wasn't surprised per say. She figured that he would still have a thing for her. The way he used to light up when talking about her and the times she saw them together, he'd always looked at her like the sun shined in her eyes. Or something cliche and loving like that. It'd made her happy that he was happy but again she still couldn't say she understood what he saw in her considering they seemed to be opposites. "No you don't have feelings for her but you guys had a thing over the summer for an hour? That certainly sounds like feelings to me. Of course I wouldn't know for sure though considering I don't know the dynamics of your relationship but..." she got stuck in her head and left her sentence hanging. Of course she would never truly understand what Scorpius had with Ondina but it wasn't for her to understand. That didn't stop her from wanting to. Whatever made him happy should be what's priority to him though.
He didn't laugh at her joke. That made her feel like she'd said something insensitive though she'd held her tongue regarding what she'd wanted to say. Yeah she'd been insensitive. "Okay look Scor, forget what everyone else says. Forget what everyone else thinks. Forget everyone else, including me. If Ondina is the one that you want, go for it. If she's the one that makes you happy, that is all that matters here. Isn't that the point of all of this, finding someone who you feel suits you and that you can be yourself with?" she patted him on the shoulder and nodded firmly. And"If it's a Malfoy-Weasley wedding I'll be attending in the future I promise I'll be nothing less than supportive and happy for you" she grinned at him. Boy will that be the wedding of the century considering how much the elder Weasleys hate her uncle. He had been a deatheater before but if he wasn't the ideal man for the phrase "people change" then she didn't know who was.
His teasing had her pouting once more though. Though she knew it was all fun and games, she couldn't help the small tinge of sadness that came over her. She covered it with a giggle and a shake of her. "Oh no you don't. See I'm waiting on an angel and nothing less. And while I know that sounds unrealistic I know they're coming for me." She couldn't think of anyone that felt anything more than passing friendliness for her anyway. Her thoughts went to Dominic for the slightest moment. Why, she wasn't sure considering that he was constantly tied to the mouth with Raven Goyle. No she'd find someone that was the absolute opposite of him. Someone kind. Someone who cared. She got lost in her thoughts again.

Scorp swallowed nervously as she called him out on the whole 'feelings' thing. He should his head, "it wasn't 'feeling's, Li. It was... a shadow of what used to be, I guess. We just kissed. Nothing fancy," but really, his heart was completely torn apart in that hour and then put back together again. He went to find Rose and found Ondina instead... now if thwat wasn't bad luck he didn't know what was. He cleared his throat, "but it's over now. Completely. WE're not going to get back together," he said, his voice a lot more sure sounding then he expected it too. Was he finally getting over this?
She went on to say that he needed to forget what everyone else. A Bout how he should go for Ondina if it was what made him hppy. He slowed his walk as she spoke, coming to a stop as she went on to say Malfoy-Weasley Wedding. His heart seemed to jump out of his throat then and he realized he wasn't breathing partway through when she was speaking. Being with someone who he felt suited him and that he could be himself with? That was Rose more than with Ondina. When she mentioned that weeding, and that she'd be happy and supportive, he pictured the dark skin and red hair rather than the blonde... he slowly grinned back, finding his air. "Thank you, Liona. I don't deserve someone like you in my life, you angel," he smirked, reaching over to take her hand, "I'll find someone I really love, I promise. I won't hesitate," he shouldn't, at least. He was ready to go for it with Rose... was she?
He chuckled as she shook her head, speaking about waiting on her own angel and how unrealistic that sounded. He frowned slightly at her, "it's not unrealistic. Someone amazing will come along and you'll be pleasantly suprirsed," kind of like he was. She seemed a bit distracted toward the end of his speaking, though, and he leaned forward, trying to get walking again and pulling her along, "got something specific in mind I should look out for, for you?"

Liona listened intently as Scorpius proceeded to defend himself and his 'one hour thing' with Ondina. She tried really hard not to show it but she wasn't buying it. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news Scor but while you say that it is completely over that still doesn't sound like 'not feelings'. I bet you saw her and you both just couldn't contain it. Just one look into her eyes and you were swept up into the moment. You probably needed the closure or something like that," she stated matter-of-factly with a shrug.
When he paused mid-walk, stopping along with him she gave him a curious look before a full fledged grin broke out upon his face. Her grin seemed to widen even more at all of the praise he gave her. Truthfully she would always have his back, despite any rude or insensitive thing he may say or who he may date or marry. He was her cousin, her favorite cousin and she was happy that way. "Of course you deserve me in your life. You deserve the best my dearest cousin and I am the best," she gave a smirk and another grin though she sincerely squeezed his hand. She was happy at his words and happy that she could give him some good advice, though where it came from she wasn't quite sure. He was better at the whole advice thing. Did him being late suddenly make them switch personalities?
She allowed him to pull her along again to get them walking. By now she was postive class had already started but it was really nice to catch up with him like this. She listened to him tell her that her expectations weren't unrealistic but she knew they were. With the way things were going, she wasn't ever going to find an angel. There wasn't anyone to fit that description anyway. Angels were beautiful and powerful beings that commanded attention and blinded. No one she could think of came close to that. She shrugged. "You have to admit that does sound a little unrealistic though right," she giggled just a little. When he ask if he should be looking for anything in particular, she became pensive. Normally she would have no problem spouting off what her ideal qualites were in the person she wanted to be with but all of this talk of Scorpius and Ondina didn't make her really talkative. "I'm sure when I know for sure I'll let you know. By then maybe they will have appeared." Plus, talk about that obnoxious Ravenclaw was out of the question. She would never admit to it and not especially to Scorpius. She'd rather not see any judgement or disappointment from him and while she knew he wasn't really that type of person, she didn't want to chance it. Talk of him was annoying anyway and sorting out her feelings would be a pain and it was all just too much.

Scorp knew that his excused were stupid, but that didn't mean he was going to refrain from defending himself. Well, she went on to prove him wrong anyway and he frowned, even though she was right. "Yeah... closure. That's it," he hoped that it was closure so that he didn't have to deal with that 'swept up in the moment' thing ever again. He had Rose now, though, so he was in the clear... he hoped.
He chuckled as she said that she was the best and gave his hand a squeeze. "Well, I'm just the luckiest guy alive," he grinned back. He knew they were using teasing tones but that they were incredibly serious about their love for one another. This was one of the most important relationships in his life, and he didn't take that lightly.
He chuckled and nodded as she called out the unrealistic nature of 'finding an angel'. She became quiet as his next question though and he waited patiently for some answer. The answer was vague, and he nodded. "Well, honestly, you probably won't know what you want til you see it in someone," he guessed.

Liona held in her snicker at his hesitance. He was unsure which made her unsure which made her believe even more so that he wasn't over Ondina and that she would definitely be hearing about them in the same sentence again. She'd have to live with it for him. Hmm what type of dress should she wear to the wedding? She didn't want to overshadow the bride at her cousin's wedding but she had a few years to figure it out.
"Well, honestly, you probably won't know what you want til you see it in someone." she nodded at his words, looking down at her feet momentarily with a sigh. That would required her to look at people as more than things to be conquered and collected and she wasn't sure if she cared enough to be at that stage yet. She had too many aspirations. She was too conflicted. She didn't have a lot of room to search for love when she wanted to solidify her position of power in the world. Yet she yearned for someone to want her, to be passionate about her. Someone who also wanted her to succeed and didn't mind her having to sacrifice time together for time spent in power. "I have to get them to love me for starters. Sounds hard." she muttered jokingly.
She found herself looking up and noticing that the Arithmancy classroom wasn't too much farther away and their short catch up session was to end soon. While she knew he had school and prefect duties and tons of homework for that genius brain of his, she was glad he still found time to spend with her. Even the small moments meant the most to her when it came to spending time with Scorpius. She found herself smiling and hugging his arm, her head leaning on his shoulder. "You really are the best, you know." she said with a grin.

Lionas sigh had Scorp raising an eyebrow at her. He wondered what she was thinking, but he would wait until she was willing to share. She seemed willing to share a small sentence, the one saying that they had to love her first, for starters, and how that started hard. He frowned, "that sounds like the easy part to me. You're very lovable. Granted, I'm a little biased," he attempted a soft smile, but he hated hearing her talk like that, even if it was a sort of joke. He worried about her, of course. He always worried about her and the others that he loved. Family was the most important thing in his life, and Liona knew that better than any of them did.
They were almost to their classroom, and for once in his life Scorp wanted to just walk right past it with Liona in tow. Scorp never skipped class. She tightened her grip on his arm, leading her head on his shoulder in a hug. He turned his head to kiss the top of hers, right on her hair. "Oh, I'm highly aware of it," he grinned, turning back toward the classroom up ahead.

Liona gave him a small smile. She was getting a little uncomfortable with the conversation. Not that she minded talking to Scorpius about love and things of the like. She just really didn't want to think about it right then. It always seemed that once she had her eye on someone they always suddenly found someone else. Everyone was practically paired up anyway, seemingly suddenly finding their soulmates. She wanted to find hers. That'd have to wait though it seemed. "Such a sweet boy. Your bias is definitely appreciated." she laughed.
Her amusement stayed at him stating how he was aware he was the best. She looked up then. Just a few more steps and they were at the Arithmancy classroom door. She turned to her cousin and frowned. "That walk seemed a lot shorter than it usually is" she pouted and peeked inside of the classroom. Professor Riveras had already started his lecture and most of the other students had their eyes focused on him. This was going to be a grand entrance. All eyes would be on them but she'd ignore them, apologize to the professor and sit in her seat like the good student she was. She turned back to Scorpius. "When you're less busy you have to promise that we'll hang out. Not just on a walk to class either." she insisted.

Scorp was lucky to have Liona to laugh with. He nodded as she said that the walk seemed short, "too short," he agreed. He peaked in the room over her head and Scorp bit his lip, widening his eyes in an 'oops' time manner. Then they walked in, Liona giving her apology and Scorp nodding at the Professor in turn, taking the sit behind his cousin.
She turned back, and he grinned at her words, nodding, "agreed. Now shush up and pay attention," he winked at her, chuckling under his breath before looking ahead.
