Tonight was just another night in the complicated life of Aerick Adler. Normally, he and Uriah Stark would be working the bar at Club Indigo, but Elaine Dupree had other plans. There were some people she needed help with them...seeing the light, so to speak, and had insisted it was a job for both of them. This wasn’t unheard of; Uriah was better with words than Aerick was, and Aerick was better at….well, physical enforcement. He could instill fear just by morphing into his Animagus form; a giant python. But what really got them to agree was when he gently would coil his flexible body around their legs, winding up to their torso, and slowly but surely, begin to squeeze all the oxygen out of them. He hoped it wouldn’t come to that, but some people just didn’t know when to submit.
He was dressed in all black, dark jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. He stood off to the side, just out of the streetlight. Uriah had the location of where they were needed, and he was waiting for his friend. He could feel the snake inside of him stir restlessly; he knew that if things weren’t moving quick enough, he would transform and take over. A small voice in the back of his head was hopeful that wouldn’t be needed, but he quieted it. He would do whatever the lady needed done, however it needed to be done.

Uriah walked down the dark streets, every few feets lit up by a streetlight. To any night owl that could look out their window, it was probably weird to see a six foot dude like Uriah walk down the streets in the dark and wearing all black like he was. But Uriah always had an alibi for any oddly suspecting muggle. Luckily, he never had to run into any of those. And when he did, he was a smooth enough talker that he was usually able to get himself out of sticky situations. His smooth talking was what had gotten him his little mission tonight. He was heading to meet Aerick, his fellow coworker at Club Indigo, when the thoughts finally came rushing to his mind. Would could they have been needed for?
Finally, Uriah reached the place where the two of them decided to meet. He stood just out of the glow of the streetlight on the opposite side of the figure he knew to be Aerick. "Well, this is exciting," he said, only a little sarcastically. Uriah didn't mind doing another person's bidding, but it was usually nice to be told just why he was doing it. Though, he understood in this line of work... perhaps it was best to not know.

Aerick inclined his head towards Uriah as he saw the older fellow approach him. “Always is,” he said, the ghost of a smile crossing his lips. He rarely smiled, but since he’d ran into that girl in the middle of the street, he found her had a few more reasons to smile. He didn’t think that was possible after the accident; he had planned to return to his normal state of voided emotions, but he was wanting to do that less and less now. “I’m sure the usual is required of us,” he told him, giving a half shrug. A rodent ran by and Aerick wrinkled his nose in disgust. “Hang on,” he said, crouching down by the streetlamp that the rat had ran by; a note was there. He picked it up gingerly and read it. “Our instructions, and our target,” he said, handing Uriah the note by the tips of his fingers.

Uriah had known Aerick long enough now to know he didn't exactly smile all that often, so when he did, Uriah was quick to notice. "Someone seems excited about all this," he said pointedly, briefly raising an eyebrow at his colleauge before the rat ran passed them, catching his attention. Uriah watched as Aerick picked up the piece of paper and then when he handed it to him, Uriah accepted it to read it over himself. "Nataniel Reed. Works in the Department of Magical Games and Sports." He looked up at Aerick. "Must be doing work on the Tournament then? Easy to see where this is leading," he commented somewhat sarcastically. With the Tri-Wizard Tournament going on, he should have suspected that the Purifiers would have somehow found their way into infultrating it.

The smile slowly faded from Aerick’s face; he hadn’t realized he was smiling. After Hawks’ accident he wasn’t sure he’d ever have reason to smile again. Then, enter Clodagh Fitzpatrick. She was so awkward and got nervous easily, but for whatever reason instead of irritating Aerick found it adorable. Perhaps because her stories were so fascinating; her choice career took her all over the world, something as a bartender Aerick could not find feasible. “Must have been a weird reflex,” he noted to Uriah, not ready to share Clo with his friend just yet. Besides, Uriah had seemed rather happy as of late when they worked together at the bars, and he had seen a pretty blonde hanging around more than usual. They’d tell each other when the timing was right, as always.
Aerick read the name of the boy over Uriah’s shoulder and scoffed. “What a jerk that man is,” he commented. The boy had come in with the Muggle girl Eleanor who Elaine had sent him after a few weeks ago. Just five minutes at the bar and Aerick could tell that he was an insecure yet arrogant prat, who gave the brunette backhanded compliments to try and put her down. “He is working with the Tournament; his little girlfriend had mentioned that,” he confirmed with a slow nod. So it would be his and Uriahs’ jobs to infiltrate the Tournament, it seemed. He wondered if Elaine just simply didn’t trust anyone else to do the big jobs, as there were plenty of other Purifiers that were probably hopping in anticipation of proving themselves. Most of them were students though; babes in the mind of Elaine though she was just nineteen herself.

Uriah raised a suspicious eyebrow at Aerick in a joking manner. Uriah had a feeling there was more behind Aerick's smile than just a reflex, but whatever it was he was sure that Aerick would share it when he was ready. Aerick was one of the few people Uriah talked openly to. And the two were quite good friends, as far as Purifier-relationships went. If something were on Aerick's mind, Uriah felt he'd be told eventually. Besides, Uriah was keeping stuff from Aerick, too. A mission wasn't the place to discuss personal things.
Uriah studied the piece of paper as Aerick spoke about their target. "So, she wants us to infiltrate the tournament from the inside?" He asked, a little baffled by Elaine's thinking, if that were the case. "We can't just snuff him out on his way home from work, you think?" Uriah was all for doing Elaine's bidding, but he would much rather stay as far away from Hogwarts as possible for two reasons. One, being Neville Longbottom. Nothing would go unnoticed under his radar. And second, and probably the scarier of the two, was Railynn.

Aerick chuckled at Uriah’s suggestion. “I’m sure that brunette wouldn’t mind,” he said, referring to the mans’ girlfriend. If she had been smart she would have ditched him already, but she was a Mudblood so he couldn’t call to her common sense. If she was anything like his own father, then she was an idiot. “Elaine would like to keep him alive; since the brunette blabbed that he was working on the Tournament too she probably felt he was the best target,” he told Uriah. “I doubt he’s going to be staying at Hogwarts; should be easy enough.” He shrugged nonchalantly.
They walked along the darkened street in silence, but it was not uncomfortable. Both Uriah and Aerick were men of few words and didn’t understand why people preferred to fill silence with mindless chatter. Something was on Aerick’s mind though, or rather some one. Two, in fact. “You saw the news about Madilena,” he half asked quietly. He had told Uriah of the potential recruit for Elaine, only for her to die in a freak accident a week later. Aerick had been strangely emotional over the whole ordeal, and now there was Clodagh, who he was also feeling things for. He wasn’t sure how much he liked that.

Uriah couldn't help the smirk that spread across his face. "You can always count on a Mudblood to run their mouth," he said, wickedly. In this case, the blabbing of a Mudblood turned out to work pretty much in their favor. Uriah nodded when Aerick commented on how easy finding this guy should be. "If he's dating a Mudblood he can't very well be all that smart." He commented harshly, but meant it as a joke.
Uriah walked along beside Aerick in silence, like usual. Aerick was one of the few people Uriah could tolerate being around because like Uriah, Aerick didn't feel the need to always be talking. Unlike a lot of other people, who always felt they had to be speaking. Uriah's mind thought briefly of his young half sister, who whenever she came around, never seemed to shut up. Uriah looked to his colleague when he spoke about Madilena, the girl Uriah believed to be the one Aerick was working on recruiting to their cause. "I did. Unfortunate that had to happen," he said, turning to face the walk ahead of them now. Uriah had not know much about Madilena, but only that Aerick was working on recruiting her. He found it only slightly odd that Aerick would bring it up now, but he was never one to question those he trusted, especially Aerick.

Aerick chuckled at Uriah’s statement. “She’s a pretty one for sure; perhaps he was distracted by her physical appearance to realize her blood status,” he joked back. Eleanor was a pretty girl, there was no denying that. And she had proven useful; this Nathaniel Reed was exactly the key Elaine had been hoping for to get an ‘in’ for the Triwizard Tournament. With Nathaniel as an Insider, Elaine would have information that only he and a select group of others were privy to, and could use that to formulate the best plan of attack. Aerick simply nodded at Uriah’s comment of Madilena’s unfortunate death. It had been unfortunate; Madi had been scared of Muggles, or Nomaj’s as they were accustomed to calling them due to their use of nuclear weapons. America had had stricter laws, involving limited to zero contact with Nomaj’s at all times, something he still didn’t fully understand why the same restrictions did not hold in the United Kingdom. It would have been nice though to have someone American on their team; Aerick though climbing high within the Purifiers was always surrounded by Englishmen and women and their accents. Madi’s American twang had been refreshing and almost welcoming to hear. Aerick’s accent remained stubbornly American; he didn’t know what he’d do if it ever started sounding too English. They arrived at their destination and Aerick looked over at Uriah with a small smile. “Shall we begin?” he asked, his wand up his sleeve ready to be released at a seconds notice. @uriah ehehe time to have fun >
