Halcyon hadn't been at the Purifier meeting the other day, but for good reason. Her absence had been expected though, the woman busy with another task. She'd been doing research for the Purifiers, looking in her both sides of her family's records to try and find something of use to Elaine. Halcyon came from two entirely different families. The first, the Selwyn's had been strong supports of the Dark Lord during the wars, with a Pure blood pedigree few could match. The other side of her family was almost entirely a mystery to Europe, the Hongs. Equally prestigious in pedigree, but a long and terrifying history of orchestrating the rise and fall of empires in China. They also had a habit of leaving thorough records... Which meant Halcyon was able to search through these records and find information that might prove useful. One of the greatest finds had been a plethora of poisons and potions that were otherwise unused today. Not because they didn't work, but because European apothecary was so different then Asian. Some were so ancient though that they'd faded out of use, deemed so potent and dangerous that it wasn't ethical to use them anymore... Halcyon was sure she could find a use for them. Especially since unknown potions made it harder to create an antidote.
So, today, after returning from the short trip to China, Halcyon was reporting her finds to Elaine. Knockturn alley was always a good place to meet. No one would notice them here. But it also helped that Halcyon had bewitched the owner of the Coffin House upon her arrival. He wouldn't remember anything of her and Elaine's meeting, and also ensure no one else came into the Necromancy shop while they were there. Halcyon browsed as she waited, her pale and elegant fingers brushing across the spines of books as she casually strolled. Her midnight black cloak hide all her features from view, her hood lifted over her head. The only noticeable trait about her was her hair, brushed over her shoulders and sticking out from under the hood. The tips were hot pink

The meeting had been satisfying. The two late students had been thoroughly punished, but, other than their transgressions, the information she had been given was good. The Triwizard Tournament champions would be selected soon. Voldemort himself had used the tournament to stage his return, and she had plans that would make his return a sad, faded nightmare. The fact that the tournament was being held again was a testament to the peace in the wizarding world. The kidnappings weren't enough, and they resulted in utter failure. Elaine needed to fix that.
One of the few no-shows for the meeting was Halcyon. Elaine had approved her absence in return for information about the other woman's extensive history in dark magic. Elaine was only aware of Halcyon's position in the Sacred Twenty-Eight, a group whose blood had been polluted since the end of the second wizarding world, but it was the other side of Halcyon's bloodline that Elaine was fascinated with. She didn't know much about the Hongs, only that they were a fearsome lineage of witches and wizards. Elaine had been willing to allow Halcyon to skip the meeting. She was curious about how the Hongs had managed to subtly rule China with an iron fist, and she hope for good news from Halcyon.
Elaine apparated directly into The Coffin House, her bloodred cloak spinning out with a flourish as she finally came to a stop. She caught her reflection in the window of the shop, smiling at her aged features. The feeling of going out in public without being recognized was thrilling. She had never been one to hide on the sidelines. She strolled through the store, her cloak making a gentle swishing noise as it dragged the ground.
"Halcyon?' she called out quietly, her hand clenched tightly around the wand hidden in her robes. Anyone that answered her that wasn't the person she was looking for would meet a quick demise.

Halcyon had stopped to pull a book from the shelf. She'd recognized the title. It was one about China's own form of necromancy, Jiangshi. Halcyon had never seen one personally, but she'd seen them in her family's memories. Fearsome, terrifying creatures that fed on souls. They were quite close to Dementors in that regard. She was flipping through the page when she heard the door of the shop open, the bell above the door ringing softly. The shop keeper she had on watch didn't react, which meant it could only be....
Ah, she heard her name, spoken softly and echoing through the eerie shop. Halcyon smiled, snapping the book shut and making her way through the aisles to the front, where she saw the cloaked figure near the door. Halcyon immediately threw back her hood, flashing a charismatic and charming smile. "Here, lady." She responded in a similarly soft and quite voice. She set the book on the counter near the register, and turned to look at the shop keeper currently under her control. "Lock the door." She ordered. He moved immediately, moving past the pair and locking the shop door. "I hope things have gone well in my absence?"
