So. Life sucked. Georgie was on the outs with her best friend, and her mother was…well, a zombie. Was it rude to call your own mother a zombie? Georgie didn’t really care. The only bright spot in her entire life was her boyfriend. Georgie felt pathetic for so much as thinking it, but the truth was the truth no matter how pathetic it was, and the only time she really felt happy anymore was when Louis was around. Seeking him out always felt like a walk of shame, especially since some of the Gryffindors were beginning to recognize her. Today was no different; when she approached the entrance to the Gryffindor tower, some boy (maybe he was in Louis’s year?) was going in, and told her that Louis would be right out. Georgie was tempted to leave then, or say that she wanted to see someone other than Louis, but she didn’t want to walk all the way back down to the basement, and the only other Gryffindor she knew was Louis’s friend, Isaac, and they had barely even spoken before. So, Georgie was stuck waiting.

It was another afternoon in Gryffindor Tower, where Louis was playing 'Catch the Quaffle' with Zac. It wasn't a real Quaffle of course, but just a ball they'd sneaked out of one of the old classrooms that happened to be red and Quaffle sized. A boy entered the Common Room and caught the ball, then proceeded to let Louis know Georgie was outside for him. Ignoring the catcalls from his friends, he grinned and waved them off, bounding out of the common room exit. He clambered out of the portrait hole as she swung forward, and spotted the pretty blonde waiting, and looking slightly uncomfortable. "Hello beautiful!" he called, cantering over to her and giving her a kiss. "What brings you all the way up here today? Do you have another lesson with the Divination professor?" he asked, looping his arms casually around her waist. Louis knew about Georgies visions, and how they were brought on by water; he hoped the Divination professor was making headway with her, so that maybe one day she could go swimming or something without having to worry all that much. @georgiana ooc: you love this gif and you know it

Thankfully, Louis was quick in exiting the portrait hole, and Georgie didn’t have to watch anyone else enter or exit the Gryffindor common room. She accepted Louis’s kiss with a smile, the feeling of not belonging melting with his presence. “Am I not allowed to come up here just to say hello?!” She asked with a laugh when Louis asked about what brought her up to the tower. “I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve gotten to talk.” Georgie continued. It wasn’t exactly true, since they had seen each other in the corridors and at meals, but that was different from having a real conversation about things. When Louis elaborated, asking about the Divination professor, Georgie waved her hands. “Scheduling conflicts. We’ve both been busy.” Every teacher in the entire school seemed to be busy with preparations leading to the upcoming Triwizard Tournament. “My mom’s been sending me letters. I mentioned you, and your sister…” Georgie trailed off. She hated that the context she had mentioned Louis’s sister in hadn’t been to praise how amazing she was, but to talk about what Victoire could do for their family, but some things had to be done.

Louis chuckled. “Of course you are always welcome to come say hello!” he told her, squeezing her lightly as they walked. It had been some time that they’d gotten a chance to talk; Georgie had told him on the train ride to Hogwarts that her parents were in fact, alive and not dead as she previously had assumed. She had never seen any bodies; just that they had disappeared and her and her brother Lancelot had been sent to the orphanage. Almost six years though, obviously one would assume they were dead. It had been a lot for Georgie to process and Louis was trying his hardest to be the rock she needed. He had a good family life and good friends, and was doing well for Louis at least in classes; he could let her pour her stress onto him.
“Aha,” Louis said nodding as she explained Professor Delehov was busy in preparation. The Divination professor had of course been the Durmstrang champion and winner of the previous tournament; of course he’d be involved with this years Tournament. “I sort of wish Zac and I had been old enough to enter; it’s definitely the sort of thing we’d excel in I think,” he admitted, grinning devilishly. He remained quiet as Georgie told him she’d mentioned both Louis and Dominique in her letters to her mother. “Have you told her I’m just a friend, or your boyfriend?” he asked curiously. He knew where he and Georgie stood of course, but didn’t know if she was ready to tell her recently “resurrected” mother that just yet.

Georgie smiled when Louis said that she was always welcome to say hi to him. She had known that already, but the confirmation felt good, as did the little squeeze he gave her. When Louis said that he wished he had been old enough to enter, Georgie let out a little squeak. Lance was old enough to enter, even though he hadn’t, and that had been bad enough. Worrying about Louis, too, would have been absolutely unbearable. She knew that Louis would definitely be good at that sort of thing, but she was selfish and she didn’t want to lose anyone else close to her. The Tournament was known for being fatal, after all. “I’m glad that you couldn’t.” Georgie admitted, only saying what she was already thinking. “Though you’d have a good chance if you could.” She assured her boyfriend, just in case he needed her to say that part of it, too.
“I’ve only said you’re a friend, for now.” Georgie replied. “It’s…it’s kind of weird, because in some ways, I’ve known you longer than I’ve known her.” Sure, Georgie had spent the first ten years of her life with her mother, but the woman who had come to Britain was different than the one that had left an empty house behind in America. She was new, and Georgie had to relearn her own mother, and she would much rather just stay with Louis. “There’s just a lot to catch up on.” Five years – almost six – wasn’t a long time until you actually stopped to think about everything that had happened between then and now. “And…I don’t know. I don’t want her not to like you and then for it to be strange.” Georgie doubted her mother would pass judgement on her boyfriend, but she worried all the same.

Louis pretended to scoff when Georgie let out a squeak. “You know I’d win!” he said with a confident smile. He knew why Georgie was glad he hadn’t been of age for the Tournament; thinking your parents were dead only to find out they were alive was a lot to take in, and had really made his girlfriend realize just how precious life really was.
He nodded, understanding with she hadn’t told her mom about her relationship yet. “She’s still kind of a stranger to you, I get it,” he told her. Obviously, he didn’t fully get it because his mother and father had always been a big part of his life, however he’d seen people at school he hadn’t talked to for several years, and he wasn’t about to spill the juiciest parts of his life to them. It took time to build up that trust, and even more so when said trust had been shattered years earlier. “Just, I guess let me know if you need me to do anything on that end ever,” he said with a half shrug. Georgie had met his family during the summer, but they hadn’t officially told them they were in a relationship. Naturally, both his sisters and mother had figured it out quickly, but that was just their womans’ intuition. Perhaps Georgie’s mother had an instinctive feeling that Louis was just a friend, or perhaps she had no idea. He had never met the woman so he wouldn’t know for sure.

Louis seemed so confident about his ability to win the Triwizard Tournament that he would never get to compete in, and Georgie gave him a weak smile. “I’m sure you would.” She said, refining her previous comment that he would have a good chance. “Though maybe Beauxbatons or Durmstrang could scrape together someone better…” Georgie said, smile strengthening as she teased Louis.
“I think…” She began, chewing on her lip. “I think it’s more like she’s a stranger that I used to know. And for everything that I’ve been through, without her, I know that she must have gone through just as much without me…” Georgie trailed off. She didn’t want to pity her mother, didn’t want to empathize with her, but she could never claim that it had been easy for her parents to leave her. She thought they had made the wrong choice, of course, but that didn’t mean she thought it was an easy choice. Louis offered to do whatever she needed him to, and Georgie smiled, squeezing his hand. “The only thing I really need is for you to be here.” Georgie admitted. “Because…” She couldn’t finish the sentence. She didn’t want to admit how pathetically she relied on Louis, how much of her life was tied up in so much of his. She didn’t want to be that clingy girlfriend. She just hoped that Louis could fill in the gaps on his own.

Louis stuck his tongue out at her, knowing she was just teasing. “They’d have to find someone pretty dang daring in order to beat me,” he said, puffing out his chest like a pompous lion before laughing. “Eh, it’s alright. Some of the stuff we’re learning this year in Charms would be real useful to any perspective champion, so it’s probably best to leave it to someone who has mastered them,” he reasoned, then grinned. “The Weasley clan has a good shot at taking the spot; my cousins Lucy and Anna, the twins, I know both are entering. Imagine what that’d be like if one was chosen, especially if it’s Anna. Lucy has a bit of a twin complex sometimes,” he told her. Oh yes, it would be interesting to see the twins dynamic if one was chosen over the other.
He listened as she explained what speaking with her mother had been like over the past few weeks. “In a way...she is a stranger though. She hasn’t been in your life for the last five years; you thought she was dead. I think it’s good though that she’s trying. It can’t make up for not being there, but its a step in the right direction,” he said finally. He knew that this was a lot harder for Georgie than she would ever let on. He released her hand and let it drape over her shoulders as he planted a kiss on the side of her temple. “You’ll always have me G, even if you don’t say it out loud,” he whispered, pressing his face into her hair before turning them down towards the staircase. “Are you by any chance a bit peckish?” he asked her, sounding hopeful.

Georgie laughed when Louis sad that Beauxbatons or Drumstrang would have to offer up someone extremely daring in order to find someone to beat him. If the whole Tournament was just a matter of daring, she was certain that a Gryffindor would be picked as the Hogwarts Champion every time. Luckily for all the other houses, though, it wasn’t just a competition to see who would do the most ill-advised stunt first. Louis went on to say that one of his cousins had a good chance at winning, which Georgie couldn’t argue with. The Weasley family could win most things by sheer numbers alone.
“Yeah.” Georgie agreed when Louis said that her mother was a stranger. She hated to admit that, hated to say that the woman who gave her life was as much her mother as any other person on the street, but really…Georgie sighed a little. “We’re going in the right direction, but I wonder if we’re moving fast enough.” She admitted. How was she ever supposed to make up for five years of lost time if her mother insisted on moving so slowly so as not to shock Georgie with everything. Yes, she pushed back a little, but that was what teenagers did. “Thanks, Lou.” Georgie said, leaning into Louis when he said she’d always have him. “I am, as a matter of fact.” Georgie answered when Louis asked if she was peckish. “To the kitchens?”

Louis cocked his head to one side and frowned slightly. “Well, I think the balls in your court there G. Your mother probably doesn’t want to scare you off by moving too quickly. You basically went from being a ten year old to a teenager in her eyes and there’s a pretty big difference between those two ages,” he reasoned, tugging her arm so that they started walking off to the kitchens. “If you want answers to any nagging questions, ask them. At the very least, she’ll feel obligated to answer you, and then you can take off from there,” he added.
He reached up and tickled the pear; it squirmed and turned into a handle which Louis took as he ushered Georgie into the kitchens. Immediately several house elves were clamoring around them, bowing and asking what they wanted. “I really want a roast beef sandwiches and garlic mashed potatoes and a good old bottle of pumpkin juice,” Louis rattled off, watching as several of the elves left to make his food. “And you my princess?” he asked, bowing slightly to her.

Georgie cocked her head at Louis. That was true. However awkward Georgie felt reaching out to her mother, she must have felt a hundred times worse. “I dunno, I was a pretty shifty ten year old.” Whiny was more like it, and Georgie wasn’t above saying that she was probably spoiled, too. While age normally mellowed people out, Georgie wasn’t so self-unaware that she would pretend she had stopped being whiny and selfish. Her parents’ return had proved that pretty handily. Georgie was lost in thought. She nodded when Louis said that she could ask any nagging questions she had now, but bit her lip. “I think the reason I haven’t yet is because I don’t want the answers.” She admitted. “I mean, her answer as to why she left wasn’t satisfying, so why should I expect the other ones to be?” Georgie would rather be bothered by all of the maybes than be stuck with an unsatisfying answer.
The house elves that surrounded them wanted to know what they wanted to eat, and Georgie had to take a minute to think, glad that Louis had placed his request first. “Can I have some garlic bread and a glass of chocolate milk, please?” She requested. Turning to Louis, Georgie smiled at him. It was turning out to be an okay day.

Louis nodded, understanding as best he could. He could never fully understand, having two parents who loved him, his sisters and each other fiercely. He supposed though if it was to protect them they would leave, but he doubted either parent, as fierce a warrior as both were, would let things get so far. “We’re all different at aged fifteen or sixteen than we are at aged ten. I know I used to think girls were gross and had cooties when I was at ten, and now I just think you happen to be an exception,” he said, adding the last part in teasingly.
His stomach growled loudly as the house elves brought over their food. He was silent for several moments as his mouth was full with delicious roast beef and garlic mashed potatoes. He stopped only for a swig or two of pumpkin juice, and soon the sandwich was gone. “How was your garlic bread Georgie?” he asked her, giving her a toothy smile.

Georgie nodded emphatically when Louis said that people were different aged ten as fifteen or sixteen. “I know some people disagree with the house system because of that.” Georgie said hesitantly. It was a little strange that their house for the entire seven years of Hogwarts was decided when they were eleven. Georgie had never been a fan of her house apart from the fact that it made her closer to her brother, so she didn’t really have much of an opinion on the subject. There were people who had grown up to exemplify another house more than the one they were put in, Georgie was sure.
“It was good.” Georgie said with a shrug when asked about her snack. It wasn’t anything particularly enlightening, but it wasn’t bad, either. “Are you ready to blow this joint?” She asked. She was ready to leave the kitchens and find something more fun to do for the rest of the day.

Louis nodded at Georgiana, studying his girlfriend carefully. “It’d be interesting if they reSorted people at fourteen or fifteen; maybe before fifth year so that they could be in the best house for their OWL exams,” he mused, then smiled. “I feel like I got lucky; I still think I belong in Gryffindor. If I had to Sort you though I’d probably put you in Gryffindor too for selfish reasons, or Ravenclaw for other reasons,” he said teasingly. He knew Georgie didn’t necessarily always agree with her Sorting, but Louis found her to be fiercely loyal, even if she didn’t believe it sometimes.
Louis stood up and took Georgie’s hand. “Definitely, let’s get out of here,” he agreed, swinging their hands back and forth as they left the kitchen. Once back in the Great Hall, Louis turned to her with a coy smile. “Race you to the lake!” he exclaimed, letting go of her hand and dashing out the open doors into the fall sunlight.
