Anna made everything seem so…easy, Oscar thought after a moment of hesitation. She made it seem like it was natural for two people to care about each other as much as the two of them did, and it was a bit of a foreign concept to Ozzy. Emotional intimacy wasn’t his modus operandi, and yet here he was, as emotionally and physically close with Anna as he had ever been with anyone else in his life. She was hugging him tight, and Oscar had no qualms with hugging her back, though the blanket did get in the way a little. Anna asked what would have happened if he didn’t come, and Oscar shook his head. “That does not matter. I did come.” He didn’t want to think about how bad Anna would have gotten, or what else would have happened if no one had come to drag her out of her panic. “But if this ever happens again…” Oscar didn’t want to say when it happened again, because he didn’t want to insinuate that Anna was going to make a pattern of this, “Please come to get me.” He didn’t want her struggling alone just because she thought that he could sense she was hurting. “Before it gets this far.” He added as an afterthought, since he doubted that Anna would have been capable of walking three feet, let alone all the way to the carriage, once she had worked herself into such a state.

Anna shook her head fiercely when Oscar started saying what she should do if this happened again. He didn't understand. The thought of this ever happening again terrified her, but it wasn't because of the fear. It was because of how suddenly it came on. One second she was looking at books on the shelf, the next second she was being controlled by her fear. And there was nothing she could do about it. She bit her lip and tightened her hug as she thought of how she would try to explain this to him. "I don't know if I'll be able to do that ... if it happens again," the thought of it happening again sent shudders up and down her spine, but Anna had to explain herself. And she wanted him to believe her. So she pulled back, ever so slightly so she could look in his eyes. "I was fine. I know I wasn't when you came in here, but I've been studying here all day. I wasn't nervous or anxious or anything. I was looking at the shelf, trying to figure out what book to use next when ... when it happened," her voice got tight as she remembered the feeling of fear consuming her. She swallowed hard, "It was so sudden, I don't know if I could have done anything to prepare. I don't know what I'll do if it happens again," she confessed, lowering her eyes from his before moving back to her previous position, her head resting on his shoulder while she hugged him like her life depended on it. In a way, it felt like it did.

Oscar listened intently as Anna explained that everything had happened suddenly. That wasn’t good, but he tried his best not to frown – he didn’t want to worry her. At least now he knew exactly how dire the situation was. There wasn’t any time for her to get help, so the next time this happened, if there was a next time, he would have to come to her again. It was a big responsibility, and Oscar knew that Anna wasn’t going to demand it of him, but he demanded it of himself. He couldn’t let Anna suffer on her own. Asking her to send a message of any sort was out of the question, since she could barely speak, let alone write or cast a spell. “If this happens again, I will find you again.” Oscar said slowly. It was a promise he wasn’t sure he could keep, but he was sure he would try. “It is getting late.” He told Anna, turning his head slightly so he could kiss her hair. “I think it might be good for you to try to sleep.” Oscar was trying his best not to think about the last time he suggested they sleep. They had fallen asleep on each other, and it had been…wonderful. But this time there would be no students walking past to wake them up, and Oscar desperately didn’t want Anna to miss the First Task on his account.
