time for a nice long talk ► Brother o' mine ◄
|
Lucy felt that she did not see her brother for a very long time. Well it has been a week since she last talked to him, like really talk to him. Not the, 'hello how are you?' talk. She felt like a bad sis not making time for him to sit and talk. Another reason for her to talk to him was to find out how he was doing and just line every other girl, she wanted to know who her brother was taking for the ball. She still had to talk to Susan and find out who asked hey. But that can wait for the time being. She wanted to find out about her brother and for once she knew that Ed wouldn't take her words to heart and feel. That was what the way she and Ed were, they never felt uncomfortable taking to each other even if it was the most trivial of things. She went towards the Slytherin common room and for once was glad that she needn't have to climb the stairs. She was stared by some and some looked at her as though questioning her presence. She simply shrugged them off and asked a passerby fourth year to call for her brother. Lucy waited for his brother to come and leaned on the cool dungeon walls. She was tapping her for against the floor and looked up when the common room door opened. She gave a bright smile and spoke up "hello brother o' mine. How are you?" // @edmund // BOINK OF GS |

Ed was sitting in the common room, pretending like he was going to study but he really wasn't in the mood. He was busy thinking about all the stuff that had been going on lately. All the stuff with Addilyn and her brother and wondering if things would ever go back to normal.
Then someone came up to him and said someone was waiting for him outside. At first, Edmund was stunned, but then he realized that it really just had to be one of two people: either Susan or Lucy. Really other than them, there was no one else who would come down to the dungeons to see him that couldn't just enter the common room. He moved quickly to the common room door and walked out, a smile on his face. An eyebrow lifted at her greeting, but he kept the smile in place. "Hey Luce! I'm good. How are you?" Then he couldn't keep himself from teasing her just a little bit, "What brought you all the way down to the dark, dirty dungeons?" Edmund smirked, confident that Lucy would know he wasn't serious.

Lucy gave smile when she saw her brother. Honestly though they may have been in the same castle, but Merlin help her she did miss him. She gave him a bright smile in return and said " good to know. I've been good. Though the OWL exams are making me worry. I have soo much to study". She may not have been a Ravenclaw but Luciana was very studious and took her school work pretty seriously. She was just a little bit more humble and gentle that made her land in Hufflepuff. She was finding it hard to concentrate on anything with all the fuss in the castle. " What brought you all the way down to the dark, dirty dungeons?"She looked at her brother with a sly grin and spoke up, "well seeing as she was missing him, this badger had to come here." She totally liked to have funny banters with Ed. May be because of the fact they were only a year apart, or because they understand each other. But all in all it was fun to talk to him. She looked at him and asked "so... What are you upto ?" // @edmund // BOINK OF GS |

Edmund couldn't help himself. He laughed when Lucy said she was worried about the OWL examinations already. He wasn't too surprised; she took her studies very seriously. Still, the year just started. She had until the end of the term to be ready for the exams. Did she think she could prepare for them all in the first month. "Pace yourself, Luce," he told her, shaking his head in mock disbelief. Really, he wasn't surprised by her attitude, but he'd learned that this was normally a way to calm him down. At least, it seemed like she calmed down when he teased her. "You're not going to be all ready for the OWLs in the first month. Just take it easy and you'll do fine." He was sure she wasn't listening, but that wouldn't keep him from trying.
"I'm glad you did," Edmund answered when Lucy told him she came to see him because she was missing him in a roundabout way. "I've missed you too Luce. It's always weird coming back from break, isn't it?" He moved close and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, giving her an awkward side hug on purpose. At her next question he merely shrugged. "Oh, I was pretending to study but not doing anything. What do you want to do?" She hadn't come down here just to say hi. Ed was positive that Lucy wanted to spend some time with him and he was game for it. He hadn't spent time with her in a while; he'd been too preoccupied with Addi.

time for a nice long talk ► I'm always worried ◄
|
Lucy looked at her brother and raised her eyebrow at his answer. 'How can he say that?', she thought. She shook her head and said, "if I don't start now, it will be messy at the end. Besides what with this tournament and all, this castle is full of chattering people, even in the library" and pouted a little. She could understand the others enthusiasm, but they did not seem to leave the library out of their meeting places. It was getting terribly annoying to Lucy, who practically enjoys her peace at that place. She looked at Edmund and said "I would not be worrying this much, without this whole event. The tasks and the ball itself are very distracting and so there is less time for us to read than you had." She was always a bit surprised at Edmund's words and even while he teased her, he made sure that she did not feel bad and encouraged her in the end. She gave him a shrug and said "thanks, I think." Lucy looked up at her brother and gave a nod and said "yeah it is always wierd to be back from holidays. We practically see each other the whole hols and here, the same can't be said. Sometimes, I hate this house system" she said her voice a little lower than before. She felt that the houses created a barrier among the students and then again only she might think as such. She leaned into her brother's embrace and said "well, that must be boring. How about we both have a walk?" She wondered idly if she disturbed him, but then again Lucy was never the one to care about such things. She was quite oblivious to such things and never bothered with them. After all, she was family and only that mattered. She looped her arm through his and began to skip her way. She looked at him and spoke " so did you now why Peter wanted to meet us? I know that he mentioned about the prime minister's ball, before, but there has to be something else right? It's not that I'm complaining." Only Lucy can be found to be at total ease as she spoke about anything even if it was a very serious matter. Edmund shook his head. Sometimes Lucy overthought things, which led to her misunderstanding what he was saying. "I'm not saying you shouldn't start now, Luce. I'm just saying you might want to take things easy. Pace yourself so you're not freaking out about it all year. That's what I meant." He laughed when she said she had less time than he had. "I'm sure that you're going to use your time much more wisely than I did, even with the tournament. Heck, if this happened last year, I probably wouldn't have studied at all!" Honestly though, Ed was not one for studying very much. He enjoyed learning about magic and wanted to do well in his classes, but he still wasn't good at studying. He got distracted too easily. "You'll do great, Luce."
Edmund smiled and nodded when Lucy said she hated the houses sometimes. He understood where he was coming from, but at the same time he disagreed. Having his own space was something he sorely needed when he arrived at Hogwarts. He wouldn't have been able to enjoy his experience half as much if he'd been nearer to Will in proximity ... or Susan ... or even Lucy. He loved them all and was starting to grow closer to them, but Ed really needed his space. "I can understand that," he said, not really agreeing or disagreeing with her.
He grinned, "A walk sounds great!" He started towards the stairs, expecting her to join him quickly. He didn't want to pull her along, but walking was way better than just standing in the corridor. He shook his head at her next question, groaning when she mentioned the ball. "I have no idea. I really hope it's not about that ball though. I hate that thing." This was no news to Lucy. Edmund always hated this ball and tried to find ways to get out of going. No, he hadn't grown out of that yet. He chuckled a little. "I don't think you're complaining. That's my job," he teased. "What else do you think he could want to meet about?" Please don't let it be the ball! Edmund didn't want to go, but knew that if they were having it he probably wouldn't have a choice.

time for a nice long talk ► ball dances were never a guy's forte ◄

Lucy gave a nod understanding what her brother's words meant. Sometimes she simply over thinks and it would always lead to problems for her. Today it was her brother but she knew that not all of the others would be so kind enough to explain what they meant. Lucy had to make sure that she did not take everything to get heart. She gave a small laugh as he mentioned about the possibility of the tournament being held last year and said "I know that, you would have been easily distracted." She gave a confident smile and spoke up "thanks for that trust. I hope I do good enough". Lucy could sense the contents brewing in her brother's head. She may not be a clairvoyant but she knew Edmund enough that he was having a pros and cons list of house division. She knew that although all of the points are correctly placed, she knew one point 'being away from her siblings' and to little Lucy that was what added more weight to get pros list. She gave a smile and said " you and I both know that house system had its own advantages and disadvantages. " Lucy had to do herself from giggling as Edmund began to walk his way down the corridor. She followed him and fell in step with him and shook her head at his answer. Even after attending Merlin knows how many balls, Edmund still did not like them. After all she could blame him, as the youngest daughter in the house many of the family members made sure that she was thoroughly enjoying the ball. But the same couldn't be said for her brother. She looked at him and said "don't even try to escape this one" and winked at him. "I don't think you're complaining. That's my job," She giggled at his dramatics and said " don't be such a baby Ed, I'll keep you company this time." At his question however she looked a bit serious and spoke "I don't know, but I get a bad feeling about this. Don't know why" and had a thoughtful expression. She shook her head a little at her thoughts and on a lighter note she asked "so did you decide on whom to ask for the yule ball?" // @edmund // BOINK OF GS |

Edmund rolled his eyes, teasing Lucy back when she agreed that he would have been easily distracted last year. "You'll do great Lucy. I know you will." He wasn't saying that to put pressure on her, but he knew his little sister. She'd already started to study for OWLs, if that was an indication at all. He knew she'd do her best, which was very good.
He smiled, relieved when she didn't try and convince him to tell her what he was thinking about house division. He nodded, "Yeah, I can see them both. I'm just glad I don't have to make a decision about whether we keep it or not." Because I would definitely choose to keep it. He didn't need to say that, she probably already knew it, but if she didn't, he wasn't going to tell her. Edmund loved his family, but he also liked to have his own space.
Edmund groaned and gave his sister a sideways look, "What's the point in trying to escape it? You and Susan won't let me, even if I could convince Will to." It was the truth. While Will might take pity on him- the operative word being might- he knew his sisters wouldn't. Edmund rolled his eyes, "Yeah, until you get caught up in the party," he muttered. It didn't matter. If it was the ball, maybe he would be allowed to bring someone. Addi. His mind instantly went to her, as it often did. He nodded when she said she had a bad feeling. Edmund didn't, but he knew Lucy was more sensitive to things like this. "Well, I hope it's not too bad," he told her, not really knowing what else to say.
Then she asked about the Yule Ball and Edmund shrugged, fighting a smile. He hadn't told Lucy or Susan about Addi and him yet and he wasn't ready to. But he could tell them who he was taking to the ball. "Yup, I'm taking my best friend, Addilyn Slater. We were talking about it at the beginning of the year and she was nervous about it, so I told her I'd take her if she wanted and she said yes." That was probably more information than Lucy wanted, but she had it now. "Have you been asked?" He asked her curiously.

time for a nice long talk ► love the little sister ◄
|
Lucy looked at him to try and check if he was messing with her. But she didn't find anything out such sorts written in his face, so she dropped her scrutiny and said "I hope so." She looked at him as he spoke about the houses and nodded at correct times. She needn't have to be his sister to understand his answer. Sometimes it can be over bearing to have your family with you and sometimes you may get homesick. One can never be sure of things like these and she did not want to ask Ed for explanations. She is not that curious to bug her about this matter, perhaps if it had been anything ride she might have taken up the chance to give her answers. But this is was just not that type. Lucy have him a chuckle and said "oh don't be such a baby Ed, it's a ball for crying out loud" and rolled her eyes. She totally missed his excuses to escape the ball and from the looks of it, she might be given a few this time to get himself out. At his reply she gave a pat on his arm and said "see you are now getting it. And besides Peter may not even help you this time..." "Yeah, until you get caught up in the party".Lucy looked at him as be done and said "this time, I don't think so." Suddenly she exclaimed and spoke "hey, Ed may be you can bring someone with you. That way it won't be boring for you". She knew that the parties at home can be a little boring at times, even for her. But for guys like Ed they had to be bloody nightmares but he has to attend such things. At his reassurance she gave a slight smile and said " well let's wait and see. And for all I know I may be over thinking it" and shrugged. Lucy looked at her brother in surprise when it came to Yule ball partners. Lucy knew Addilyn and found that she liked the other girl. She may have expected someone else may be a secret girlfriend of sorts, but it seems that her brother was content to take his best friend to the ball. And that's what she said "that's nice to know. It was nice of you to ask her". She knew that going to a ball as a loner was not something any one would like. As he asked her about the ball, she let out a sigh and said "nope I am not asked for." She paused a little and turning to look at him she spoke " But what are you expecting? I have not one but two brothers, one who was a gryffindor and works as a curse breaker and the other is here right in front of me, a slytherin who loves me so much and don't forget Susan. I am the little sister of three siblings, so people are sure going to feel intimidated to even ask me" and gave a huff at the end. @edmund Sorry for the late reply BOINK OF GS |

Edmund rolled his eyes at his little sister. Sure, he loved Lucy, but he didn't love it when she was always right and pointing out the flaws in his logic. He hated that he was going to have to go to this party. He'd already resigned himself to the fact, but that didn't make it any better. Then she suggested he bring someone and Ed's mind flickered immediately to Addi. Of course, that's who he would bring if he brought anyone. But he hadn't told Lucy about their relationship, so he couldn't act like he already knew who he wanted to bring. "But who would I bring? No one will want to go to a boring ball just a few days after the Yule Ball," he told her, wondering how she would react to that.
Edmund shrugged when Lucy said that it was nice of him to ask Addi. "She's my best friend. I'll probably have more fun with her than I'd have with anyone else," he gave as his only explanation. Then he laughed. He knew his little sister probably wouldn't like it, but her reason for not having a date to the Yule Ball was hilarious to him! Though he did see how it might be true. Will was very intimidating, and Susan could be too. Fine, so could Edmund, but he wasn't going to hunt down anyone who asked her. Edmund knew that Lucy loved balls, so he wanted someone to ask her so she could have fun. "Don't worry about me Luce. I promise not to do anything to intimidate anyone that asks you," he said with a sly smile. They wouldn't know that before they asked her, of course, but Ed was telling the truth. He wouldn't try to scare anyone away from her.

Lucy saw him rolling his eyes at him and had to suppress a chuckle. Damn her brother was a lot predicable when it came to things like these, she thought. She however did not press the matter for she knew that he would not like to ponder over certain things. And right now she was trying to have a nice simple conversation with him rather than getting into a heated argument. Lucy raised her eyebrow at his question and now it was her time to roll her eyes. She looked at him with a 'are you kidding me?' look and spoke up "oh Edmund don't you get it? You can bring any of your friends whom we never get to invite to home. I'm sure that at least one of them likes to see the muggle world dance besides no girl I've ever known will turn down to go to a ball if asked." She really couldn't understand Ed at times like these, who was she kidding? No guy can ever. Every girl loves to dress up and likes to dance at balls and as far as she knew any of Edmund 's friends would agree to come with him. Lucy gave a fond smile in her brother's direction and said awwww, I'm glad that you are going to have fun in this ball, at least " she added with a smirk. It was true though, Ed did not like to attend balls and if it makes him enjoy this one than Lucy was glad of it. At his reply to her comment about intimidating siblings, Lucy gave a smile and said " thanks, I think." She could see from the way he smiled that his wordings were a tad too specific and Lucy just shook get head and thought, 'over protective much'. // @edmund // BOINK OF GS |

Edmund couldn't help but glare a little bit at his younger sister. Of course, she had no idea how bad he was at making friends. He didn't have many, and out of the friends he did have there were very few girls. Not that that would really be an issue here. He was going to ask Addi and he was positive she would say yes. "I'm sure there are some girls out there that don't like dancing," he mumbled, mostly just to be contrary. He hated being treated like an idiot and he felt like that was exactly what Lucy was doing right now. "I'll probably ask Addi if she'll mind ..." he trailed off, trying to make it sound like a new idea that just occurred to him.
Edmund shrugged when Lucy said he was going to have fun at the Yule Ball, "Probably," he said, still not wanting to come out and admit that she was right. After all, it wasn't a positive thing. "If I don't like the dancing, I'll probably be able to convince Addi to leave with me and we'll do something else," he mused to himself, unsure if that would actually happen. She was probably too excited about the dance to let him take her away early. He'd have to see what he could do though.
Lucy's smile seemed hesitant and Edmund wasn't sure if she believed him. Either that or she didn't think anyone was going to ask her to the ball. "Don't worry about it Luce. I'm sure someone will ask you to the ball soon. There's still plenty of time, you know," he told her with a smile, hoping that someone actually would ask her. He knew she would be very disappointed if she didn't get asked.

Lucy looked at her brother's glare, and threw up her hands speaking "woah, no need for that glare. Geez, Ed I thought you were going to be happy with the idea of bringing your friend.". She giggled a little at her brother's words and said "okay, may be there are some girls out there who don't like dances, but not all are such." She looked at her brother at his idea and gave a smile and said "may be Addilyn would come, if you ask her, that is. She is a lovely girl and I for one like her." She knew how Ed can get and decided to drop the topic rather than continue this discussion. Lucy had to give it to her brother, way to be soo moody when she knows for a fact that he would have a good time. I mean, he was going out that night with someone he knows and what was there not to have fun. She gave a nod at his words and had to admit, that sounded a lot like what Edmund would do and said "well that' so very you. And do make sure she gets to dance with you, even if you are no expert" she added the last part with an amused grin. Lucy gave a small smile at his words and said "well, time only will tell that". She looked at her watch and said "oh my, I'm going to be late for my class. See you later Edmund and it was nice to talk to you today." She gave him a hug and waved a goodbye. End it shall we? Edmund sighed. He knew that he probably seemed bipolar to his younger sister because of his mood swings and he felt bad. "Sorry Luce. I just don't have a lot of friends, especially not friends that are girls. So it's hard for me to know what is and isn't ok to do. I don't want to make Addi mad at me for something. Sorry if I took that out on you." He smiled, "And I probably will end up asking her to go with me too."
Edmund rolled his eyes, "Of course I'll dance with her. I even taught her how to dance a while ago because she was nervous about it," he told Lucy. Why did he tell her that? He hadn't told anyone about that. "Are you proud of me for that?" he asked. Then she mentioned that she had to leave so Edmund nodded and hugged her back. "Luck with your class Luce. Talk to you soon!" He watched as she walked off, waving at him and he smiled before he turned and walked away. It had been a while since they got to talk.
