Another night off meant another night deciding whether or not to go find Uriah and talk to him. Tonight the answer was yes, and she made her way to the club. She considered going home to her parents house this time instead, but decided she would do that when she had a longer break. Plus, her and Uriah's last meeting wasn't so positive, he was cold and callous with her. And she wasn't too kind back. Either way, she still wanted to mend things with him, no matter how bad things got. She wouldn't stop trying. So here she was, wandering around the club, until she saw him She walked up to him and folded her arms over her chest, giving him a short nod. "Fancy meeting you here again," she said slowly.
She didn't realize how late it was, but she had spent most of her evening thinking about talking to him rather than actually doing it. She didn't know that someone in that club had it out for her. She didn't know how this night would change her life.

It was another busy night at Club Indigo that was just beginning to come to a slow close. The club was was finally dying down so Uriah was preparing his side work so that he could leave for the night sooner rather than later. He was oddly rather tired, and in the back of his mind nothing sounded more enjoyable than crawling into bed for a good night's sleep. Uriah had his back momentarily turned toward the patron side of the counter while he put away some bottles on the shelves, but when he heard the voice that seemed to be haunting him lately, he froze.
Obviously Uriah knew who it was before he turned around. Railynn seemed to be popping up more and more in his life lately. It was beginning to get very annoying. And not just annoying, but dangerous too. For both of them. Slowly, Uriah turned around to look at his half-sister. "I work here," he replied nonchalantly. "Which is more than I can say for you. What do you want this time?"

They seemed to have a habit of getting upset with one another for showing up at each others jobs. Rai folded her arms, cocking her head to the side. "I wanted to see if you wanted to grab a drink with me," she offered raising an eyebrow slowly. Maybe if she spoke his language they could find a way to connect. That would be nice, wouldn't it? She doubted it would work, but she had to try.
What she didn't know, however, was that Desirae Rousseau was watching from the side, leaning toward a tall, dark friend of hers and making plans to sick the vampire on Rai. She wanted to wait a moment, however, so that Rai could get comfortable, think everything was going to be all right. Plus, it would be a good test of Starks loyalty...

Uriah stared blankly at his half-sister as he awaited her response, dreading it. And when she had finally stated her business, Uriah rolled his eyes. "I can't drink on the job," he replied flatly. It was, at least, true. Though, maybe he could get away with it just this once... but, he didn't want to! This was his half-sister, Railynn! The one he could not stand to be around. The favorite child. Uriah let out a sound that was a mix between a grunt and a quiet sigh, as he turned around and grabbed a bottle of liquor off of the shelf behind him. Grabbing a glass, he turned around and placed in down on the counter and began to pour a drink. When he had, he slid it across the counter to his half-sister.
"On the house. I guess," Uriah mumbled and shrugged. Uriah glanced around to make sure the place wasn't too busy. He supposed he could humor his half-sister for a moment or two until a more worthy customer demanded his attention. As he glanced around though, he noticed Desirae off in the distance. He noticed someone next to her but he didn't pay any mind to it was. Though, he did shift a little uncomfortably as he stood across from Rai, waiting for her to break the awkward silence between the two of them.

Rai's eye narrowed for a moment as he mentioned not drinking on the job. He poured her a drink and said it was on the house 'he guessed' and she nodded gratefully. She lifted the glass to take a drink, winced at the harshness of it, and placed the glass back down on the counter. "Can't you take a break?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. Was it really that hard to try and make a little time for her?
She sighed, keeping both hands around the glass and looking up at him, her shoulders slightly slouching, "you look good, by the way. Bar tending suits you," she said softly.

Uriah glanced around the bar once more as Rai asked if he could take a break. His eyes swept back over Desirae, and he felt that eerie feeling again as he did so. "Why? What is it you need to talk about?" He asked, sounding more harsh than he had meant to be. Uriah raised an eyebrow uncomfortably at his half-sister when she complimented him, saying bartending suited him. Uriah had never seen her at her own job, aside from their last run-in, but he wasn't sure that counted. "Uh," he mumbled for a moment, not sure how to respond. "I'm sure you are a fine Auror." He replied so awkwardly that he visibly winced. Instinctively, he looked back in Desirae's direction and for reason, he felt so bothered, he decided perhaps just... taking a moment to speak to Railynn elsewhere wouldn't be bad. "Uh, I can take a quick break. But, it has to be quick." He added that last bit harshly again, just to show he meant business, and he wasn't there to be her buddy. Maybe just stepping to the back hall for a moment, away from Desirae's watchful eye, would ease his odd nerves.

He asked what she needed to talk about in a harsh tone, but the question itself wasn't harsh. In fact, the question almost sounded like he wanted to know what she came for. She blinked in confusion, but soon her was raising his eyebrow at her question and awkwardly trying to... compliment... her? That was a strange feeling, and she actually winced just as he did as well. She nodded, "thanks," she said, just as awkwardly. She'd started the nice talk, but she didn't actually expect it to go her way. That was something she wasn't prepared for. Then his eyes moved somewhere else and Rai turned to look, but didn't see anything she recognized. She turned back to him as he said he could take a quick break, emphasis on quick and she smiled, one side of her mouth tugging up at the corners.
She stood to follow him, "lead the way," she said softly. "As long as you don't yell at me again," she said with a soft chuckle... actually joking, maybe?

Uriah glanced at Aerick, who was also bartending, signaling that he was taking a break. He stepped out from behind the bar and gestured just once for Railynn to follow him to the exact hall he had pulled her into the last time she had unexpectedly come to visit him at Club Indigo. "No promises," he muttered in response. Sure, Uriah was trying... harder than usual to communicate with Rai, but he still couldn't promise that things wouldn't end in a yelling match, like they usually did.
Though, Uriah had to admit, he felt much more at ease now that he was out of Desirae's sight. "So, what." He meant to ask it a little nicer, but instead it came out more like a demand than anything.

She heard his mutter and it made her smirk slightly. They were back in that hallway and she looked over at him as he spoke. "I just wanted to ask you-" she stopped as she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She pulled out her wand and spun around, facing the shadows in the corners. "There was something there," she turned back toward her brother, "did you see-" suddenly a strong hand was over her mouth and another around her waist and felt herself being pulled back. She reached a hand out to Uriah, her brother, in hopes that he would take it.

Uriah stood a few feet across from his sister and watched as he awaited what she had to say. His eyebrows instinctively rose slightly as she began to speak, but they quickly furrowed when she stopped mid-sentence. At first, when he saw Railynn pull out her wand, his first reaction was to do so himself, but then he remembered where he was and who he was, and he just couldn't do that. "What? There's noth -" he spoke quickly and urgently, in hopes to divert her attention from whatever it was she thought she saw but then, in the blink of an eye, Railynn had a hand over her mouth and she was being pulled back by some unknown being. Uriah froze where he stood.
As Railynn was dragged away, she reached her hand out to him and Uriah knew the right thing to do would be to grab it. His hand even twitched at his side. But he balled his hands in a fist and stood absolutely still. He knew there was nothing he could do. Whatever this was... it was a Purifier's doing. He just knew it.

He didn't take it.
No, he just stood there. Her eyes widened with fear as her wand was ripped from her fingers somehow. Tears welled up in her eyes then and she kept them on Uriah, her fingers still reaching out. She heard a cold laugh, a girls, someone... familiar, and then she was hit over the head, knocked out. The last thing she saw was that look on Uriahs face. What was it... was it... regret? Sadness? He wanted to take her hand, she knew he did. She could see it there, in that last second.
And yet, he didn't take it.

Watching Railynn's eyes widen with fear and tears did something to Uriah. It was a feeling unlike any he could ever recall feeling and it was not a good one. It felt like a giant anvil had just been placed upon his chest. Deep down, he knew he should have grabbed her hand. He should have pulled out his own wand and defended her. But he didn't. He couldn't. This was Club Indigo. If he had, they both probably would have been killed. Or worse.
Uriah stood there, frozen, as his sister was taken away by some unknown assailant. He didn't know where she was going, or if she would even be okay. But he didn't have a choice. He knew her coming here was a bad idea. And of course, the one time he actually decides to speak to her, this happens. Uriah finally found the strength to at least move his eyes as he looked away from the spot he had seen Railynn dragged into and looked at the floor where he saw her wand, sitting there on the floor. The anvil on his chest seemed to double in weight.
Picking up the wand, Uriah finally heard the laughing. He stuffed Railynn's wand in his jacket. He should have known Desirae was behind this.

Good. The little brat was taking care of. Desi watched from the shadows off the hallway, practically blending into the wall as it all transpired. She waited, utnil Uriah picked up the girls wand before letting out a low laugh. She pushed off the wall toward him and moved forward.
She gave him a small pout, reaching over to place a hand on the side of his face, "awe, Uriah. I've done you a favor," she cooed, "traitors aren't family." Her voice was cold and flat at that comment. But then, the sweetness came back as she lowered her hand to walk away.
Before leaving the hall, she looked over her shoulder. "It's a nice wand. A good souvenir. On less Auror," she held up one finger and swirled it around in the air as she walked out, not looking back again.
