November 21st.
Okay, so she'd been in the hospital for several days now and she was ready to get out of there. She didn't necessarily want to deal with the real world and all the people and the scent of their blood. She could do without all that... but that was the problem. She loved people. She loved making friends and helping those in need. She loved going for runs or hikes in the sunshine and being able to do whatever she wanted without worrying about the sun drying her up or sucking people dry. Of all people for this to happen to fate had chosen the person who was the most opposite of a vampire on the entire planet. At least, that's how Rai felt.
She was being taken out of her room for the first time since arriving and being led on a walk by one of the nurses. They were practicing her ability to be around a lot of people. There were several orderlies on hand who were ready to take her down at a moments notice. She hated that. She was supposed to be the one protecting people.
They had told her that she could go back to Auror training and continue with her life once she was well rehearsed in the art of not eating people. She couldn't see how they'd want her back. But, apparently, Vampires had fit into society before just fine. So, could she really be the good guy?
Her nurse led her to the cafeteria of the Hospital and approached a table where a man sat alone. "May we join you?" the nurse asked him. Rai didn't look up.

@railynn sitting down was good. he was sure that no matter how many long shifts he worked, his feet would never get used to aching by the end of it. so he was taking a much needed sit down before he ventured home for the night. plus the food the cafeteria served up wasn't all that bad, in fact is was downright good. much better than anything he could cook at this time of night. he was thinking about the plans for his team's quidditch practice tomorrow afternoon, thankfully it was an afternoon session so he wasn't rushing home from here to grab a couple of hours sleep before he had to drag himself to the pitch. he'd actually go tomorrow with energy. well he hoped. the november full moon was approaching and it was in the week leading up to it that he often started feeling it. he was about to start eating his sandwich when his table was approached by a nurse and a patient. well he assumed she was a patient. she smelled different to him than the nurse, something was off with what he could sense coming from her but he didn't react to it. this was a hospital after all, there were many things that happened in these halls. he smiled and waved his hand to the chair closest to the one he thought was a patient and pushed the chair out with his magic. "of course."

Rai looked up as the man spoke, and her gaunt eyes slightly widened. "You're... you're Dakoda Wulfe," she stuttered. Wow, his blood didn't smell too bad. Stop it/ She winced, removing the small smile from her face. "I'm Rai," she said as she sat down, the nurse sitting beside her silently. "Um... do you... work here too?" she actually didn't know anything about Quidditch players lives other than their scores and skills on the pitch. She didn't play the game, but she was an avid follower. There was something else about his scent too like... her eyes widened again and she leaned back. "You're... well, that last name is pretty funny, isn't it?" her smile came back, albeit small, and she bit on her lip to keep from laughing. Really? Wulfe the wolf? She thought about maybe changing her last name to... Vampe or something.
Ha. Ha.
The nurse got up to get food, leaving Rai alone with Dakoda. Dakoda freaking Wulfe. Rai swallowed nervously, looking down at her hands once the nurse got up.

@railynn "You're... you're Dakoda Wulfe," he couldn't help but chuckle when she stumbled over his name like that. he got it often but he found that a lot of the people who came through the ward he worked on were too busy being sick to notice who he was. but on the odd occasion he got recognized. it wasn't something he minded, if he did he'd been in the wrong career. "is that a problem?" he asked her with a grin as he took a bite of his sandwich and chewed it quickly, swallowing it so they could continue their conversation. "Um... do you... work here too?" he nodded at that. part time though, quidditch still took up most of his time and he wasn't ready to give it up. he wouldn't be ready to give it up for years to say the least. "You're... well, that last name is pretty funny, isn't it?" his grin got a little wider and he settled back into his own chair and nodded his head slightly. so she had smelled it on him, he'd been wondering if she'd notice it like he had her. he had placed the scent now, it wasn't one he'd smelled very often but it was there. vampire. "my dad thought it would be a pretty ironic last name for our family" he said. it had been, his dad had changed his name after he'd been bitten. having not wanted his family to find him. "are you hungry .. or should i say thirsty?" he asked her, leaning his arm on the table. he knew the hospital kept a supply of blood for their patients and if she wanted some he'd get it for her.

Rai didn't bother to shake her head when he asked if him being... him was a problem. Clearly he didn't really want her to answer. It was a figure of speech, a goofy joke of sorts. She got it. He nodded as she asked if he worked there and her jaw dropped a little more. Two jobs? Two really time consuming ones that required a lot of training? Wow. That's impressive.
Then he grinned wider as she called him out... his last name. She smiled as he mentioned his father thinking it would be a pretty ironic name. Then he joked about her being thirsty and she winced. "I'm not," she said slowly, still not used to the sound of her own voice right now. "Did you dad change the name, then?" she guessed.

@railynn "I'm not," he nodded slightly and didn't say anything else on the matter. he wanted to tell her there was nothing wrong with it if she was but he could tell she didn't seem all that comfortable and if she was still in saint mungo's he was almost sure she was newly turned, even without being able to detect how she was feeling through her scent. "Did you dad change the name, then?" he nodded slightly. he had but he had refused to tell his children what it had been before it. "when he turned seventeen" he said as he took another bite of his sandwich. he did feel bad for eating real food before her but it would be something for her to get used to. didn't make him feel any better about it though. "i don't mind it though. i like the irony of it" he said as he leaned his arm down on the table. "so you know what i do for a living .. what do you do?" he said with a grin.

He said that his dad had changed their last name and she nodded. That was odd, she thought, but she didn't say that out loud. He said he didn't mind, that he liked the irony, and she gave a very, very small smile. He asked what she did, and she cleared her throat, "I'm an auror," she said softly, "in training... I was stationed at Hogwarts. But we'll see," her voice was suddenly dry and she stopped, looking down at her hands again. "Anyway."

@railynn "I'm an auror, in training... I was stationed at Hogwarts. But we'll see," he let out a low whistle when she said she was an auror. he took his hat off to the people who were brave enough to put themselves on the front line. he could tend the wounded but he'd never have the nerve to put them where he was handed them. though if someone threatened his family he was sure he'd have no trouble hurting someone, but that was a situation he hadn't found himself in so he couldn't atest to how he would really act. "that's impressive. you'll see? do you think you can't do the job well anymore?" he asked her, wanting to know. if it had to do with what had happened to her he didn't want her to think that it would ruin her chances of living the life she wanted. he knew how hard it was to fight for something you wanted. "Anyway." he shook his head slightly and tore another piece of his sandwich but he didn't eat it just yet. he wanted to see if she wanted to keep talking about this now he'd pressed her or whether she'd keep not wanting to talk about it. he was fine with either.

Rai nodded slowly at his question, keeping her gaze on her hands. "I guess that I just don't want to hurt anyone. I have to get used to all this. How did you..." she looked up at him, "get used to it? I mean, how long have you even been a werewolf?" she was sure she had read somewhere how long it was, since he was famous and all, but she didn't make it a point to remember that about him. It wasn't important to her what attacked him and changed him... and yet, why was she making it such a big deal for herself? She should know that most people wouldn't care, especially not her friends or her mum and dad. She knew better but... she still doubted that she could get through this. She barely knew anything about vampires. About herself now.

@railynn "I guess that I just don't want to hurt anyone. I have to get used to all this. How did you...get used to it? I mean, how long have you even been a werewolf?" he rubbed his hand through his hair and shook his head slightly. he wanted to tell her it would be easy but there wasn't any truth to it. it was a hard thing to live with and he struggled with it on a month to month basis. he at least got a break in the middle. hers would be every day. "since i was five. my uncle turned me and my younger sister" he said as he put the piece of sandwich into his mouth and he chewed it before swallowing and he continued. "it'll get easier. you won't always feel like you do now" he said with a small nod.

Railynn's jaw dropped but she closed her mouth quickly. Five years old? That was terrible. "Some Uncle..." she muttered, shaking her head. Finally, she looked up at him again as he said that it would get easier. "I hope so," she said, trying for a smile. Then, her nurse came back over to her and asked if she was ready to head back up. Rai nodded then turned back to Koda. "Thanks... owl me sometime. I wouldn't mind more advice in the future... see you around," she said softly before being led away.
