Anna smiled when Oscar said they could practice. At least he understood now. That was all she wanted. She didn't want him to think that she didn't care and that's why she hadn't done anything. She actually couldn't stand the idea of him thinking that. She bit her lip nervously, "Alright," she told him, agreeing to his idea.
His question. Oh, Anna knew the answer all right. She didn't think she would have been able to say no to someone who asked her, it just wasn't who she was. "I don't know," she hedged, not liking the question. She sighed, resigned to tell him the truth. "Probably not, but I would have been looking for you the whole time, and I wouldn't want you to go with someone else." She covered her mouth, surprised by her confession. She never meant to say that to him! What if he thought she was obsessed or something. Which, in a way she was, but still.
She laughed when he said he needed more proof, but she'd already moved to poke him, so that was that. Then he was completely open about what he wanted and Anna smiled, leaning forward without waiting a second. She still felt like she didn't know what she was doing, but she didn't let that stop her. She didn't stop until their lips were touching and her heart was pounding and she didn't know how she could feel happier.

Oscar’s suspicions about Anna’s goodwill were confirmed when she said that she wouldn’t have been able to say no to someone else. “I guessed that.” He told her, just in case she thought he would somehow be angry about that. “You are too nice, sometimes.” Oscar added. In all honesty, she was probably too nice for him – when he wasn’t around her, he was cocky and he was rude, and that didn’t seem to be the kind of boy that Anna would have normally fallen in love with. He didn’t want to say that she changed him, because she didn’t, but Oscar was certain that Anna brought out the best in him. Maybe, in time, she could make him a better person for everyone else, too.
Anna seemed receptive to his hint that she should kiss him, and Oscar smiled. Now that he knew that she wasn’t the most experienced kisser, he was going to give her as many opportunities as possible to practice. He also wanted to give her chances to initiate, since that was something that he had been awful at when he was a novice kisser. When they broke apart, a flush was spreading across the apples of Oscar’s cheeks. “I know that I said that the kiss would help me believe more, but I still find myself surprised by…everything.” He admitted. It was like the whole world was brand new, all because of Anna.

Anna's mouth fell open in surprise, "How did you guess that?" she asked curiously. Back when he asked her to the Yule Ball, they weren't that close. Was she really that easy to read. Anna glared at him when he said she was too nice, but she knew Oscar would know it was all fake. She couldn't be mad at him. Not right now and probably not ever. "There is no such thing as being too nice," she argued. Really though, how could someone be "too nice"?
Anna couldn't believe how natural it felt to kiss Oscar. Granted, she had no idea if she was good at kissing and there was no way she was going to bring it up, but kissing him made her happy. When they pulled apart, Oscar said he was still surprised by everything. Everything? Anna looked at him suspiciously, "Are you saying that because you want me to kiss you again? Because if you are, it's definitely your turn," she teased with a smile. "And what do you mean by everything?" Anna couldn't keep her curiosity to herself and now that she knew he wouldn't run away if she asked questions, she was going to ask them.

Anna seemed surprised by Oscar’s lack of surprise, and he raised on of his shoulders in a shrug. “You are not good at saying no. And you are nice.” He informed her. “I did not think you could reject someone just because you were waiting for someone better.” When Anna said there was no such thing as being too nice, Oscar just shook his head. He wasn’t going to argue with her.
“We are taking turns now?” Oscar asked Anna. He was pretty sure that was not how kissing was supposed to work, but he would keep that in mind for the next time he wanted to kiss her. Anna asked what he meant when he said he was surprised by everything, and Ozzy thought a while, trying to think of how best to explain it. “I did not expect to come to Hogwarts and meet someone like you..” He told her. Really, he had expected to come to Hogwarts and woo Margaux back to him, but Anna didn’t need to know about that. “And I did not expect for you to become Champion, or for me to feel the way I do about you...” It had been a sort of snowball effect – Oscar had thought about how he felt for Anna once, and then it seemed like he was tumbling head-over-heels for her. It wasn’t like that had ever happened to him before – most of his relationships involved girls falling for him, after all.

Anna laughed. Apparently Oscar knew her better than she thought. Her eyebrows rose when he said she wouldn't reject someone for someone better. He was talking about himself, she was ninety-nine percent sure about it. She wasn't really surprised that Oscar would say something like that, but it did take her off guard. She just rolled her eyes. "Apparently not," was all the response she gave him.
She shrugged, "Why not take turns? Or are you saying you don't want to kiss me anymore?" she teased, wondering how he would respond to that, hoping he would kiss her. Sure, she could kiss him, but she still felt uncomfortable about it. She smiled as he explained his surprise to her. "Is it cheating if I say I'm surprised by all that too?" Anna asked in a quiet voice, more serious than she had been previously. Really, Oscar coming to Hogwarts was the best thing that could have happened. She didn't care about being Champion, didn't care about the tournament at all, except for the fact that it brought him to her. "I'm so glad you came here," she confessed, even though she was sure he already knew it. He should, after how much she was relying on him.

Oscar rolled his eyes when Anna asked if he didn’t want to kiss her anymore. “That is not what I meant.” She knew that. They both knew that. “I will want to kiss you for a long time.” To prove his point, Ozzy leaned down and kissed Anna again. At least now it was not his turn, if they were still taking turns. But Oscar couldn’t resist it – he had to kiss Anna again. And he did. She wondered if it was cheating to just agree with all that he said, and Ozzy shook his head. “We are just two of a kind.” He told her, smiling. Oscar’s cheeks hurt, but he couldn’t make himself stop smiling at Anna.
“I am so glad I came, too.” Oscar had thought the best thing he could do when he was at Hogwarts was win the Triwizard Tournament. Then he hadn’t been chosen, and he had realized that the best thing he could do was help someone else win the Tournament. And fall in love – that part was important, too. “I…still wish I had been chosen to be Champion.” He told her, in the spirit of being honest. “But I am glad that I do not have to compete with you.” Oscar was also glad he hadn’t had to go through the maze, because that had been…scary, even to watch.

Anna smirked at Oscar after he kissed her, glad that he kissed her but still in the mood to tease him. He hadn't told her to stop yet, so why not? "Are you sure about that?" She asked in a teasing voice, but she actually meant the question. She was inwardly terrified that Oscar would like her for a while and then decide he liked someone else. How could he be sure that wouldn't happen? After all, that seemed to be the kind of luck that Anna had when it came to guys. Hopefully Oscar was different though. She wanted him to be. He said they were two of a kind and Anna tilted her head to the side, "I like the sound of that," she told him honestly.
Her smile fell a little when Oscar brought up that he wanted to be the Champion still. "I know," she told him, her voice soft. Then she smiled when he added that he didn't want to compete against her. "I'm glad we don't have to do that too. I feel like us competing against each other would have made things different," Anna responded hesitantly. She didn't want to say it, but it was true, and probably not different in a good way. Not that she thought she wouldn't develop feelings for him if he had been chosen, but would he have wanted to do things with her when she was the competition? And what if the task meant they actually had to do something against one another? Like a face-off or something? Anna wouldn't have been able to do that against Oscar, no matter what. She leaned forward, resting her head on his shoulder, hoping he wouldn't get offended. She hadn't meant it that way.

Anna asked if he was sure he would want to kiss her forever, and Oscar tilted his head at her, blinking once. He hoped she realized how ridiculous that question sounded, at least to his ears, even if it was in jest. “As sure as the sunrise.” Maybe the question had meant to be teasing, but Oscar’s answer was a hundred percent truthful. Right now, not loving Anna seemed as impossible as sunrise never coming. If that ever changed, then Oscar was going to have to change the way he saw the world, too. Oscar smiled when Anna said she liked the sound of them being two of a kind. He liked it, too.
At least Anna realized that him wanting to be Champion had nothing to do with being dissatisfied with her or her position. It was just something that Oscar would always want, at least a little bit. It was better now that he knew that someone cared for him no matter who he was, but it would have been nice for the world to know that he existed, and that he mattered. Oscar was still waiting for the answer to why he was alive. Maybe Anna was a part of it, but he couldn’t help but feel she was only a piece of the puzzle. “It would have.” Oscar agreed without hesitation when Anna said competing against each other would have made things different. “I think we could have figured it out.” He paused. “Eventually.” But eventually probably wouldn’t have been soon enough – by the time they realized their feelings, they would have also had to accept that one of them would always be beating the other, and that was no way to begin a relationship.

Anna grinned at Oscar, content with his answer. He hadn't hesitated a moment in answering her, which helped her finally accept the fact that he did care for her and that it wasn't something that was going to change suddenly in the morning. "Good," she said, not even aware of the slightly possessive tone with which she said it. Oscar was hers, at least for now, and she wanted to keep it that way.
She could sense how much Oscar still wished he was the champion, and it was a lot. She wished he could have become the champion for Beauxbatons, but she also knew that wishing it didn't make it come true. It was a relief to Anna when Oscar agreed that him being a champion as well would have changed things. Then he added that he thought they could have figured it out. Eventually. That's exactly what she thought, too, but she wondered when that would have been. Still, what was the point in wondering about it? It didn't happen and they couldn't change that fact, as much as they might want to. "I'm happy with the way we figured things out," Anna told him, scooting closer to him and snuggling with him.

There was no disputing that Oscar was also pleased with the way they had figured out their feelings. It couldn’t have come at a better time. If he was the Beauxbatons champion, then he wouldn’t have allowed her to comfort him after Caden died, and then he would have been well and truly alone. And that was never something good to feel. “Me too.” Oscar said quietly, since he realized that Anna probably couldn’t read his thoughts on the situation. Sitting there, beside the pond, life seemed a lot less daunting. Oscar wasn’t going to delude himself into believing that the world was suddenly working in his favor, but maybe he didn’t need the world if he had Anna.
