@scorp <3 Her latest class had just left and Astoria had stayed up on the tower a bit longer. She enjoyed the cold night air, and it helped that she had her coffee with her. Astoria sat down and conjured up a small fire to keep her warm. Taking out the parchment and her ink and pen, she began grading papers. Sleeping in late and having lots of coffee helped with her late classes. Generally the nights she had classes she wasn't in bed until late depending on the season.
Astoria's eyes turned up to look at the sky, looking at all of the constellations. The one's her husband, her son, her daughter, their entire family were named for. Tori tilted her head back, calm overcoming her. She heard footsteps and was curious to see which student had forgotten something or had wanted to mention something to her. However, who she saw, she was not expecting. Astoria sat up and rose her eyebrows. "Scorpius...what are you doing up here?"

Scorp was tired. He was tired of hiding his love for Rose. He was tired with all the homework, even though he'd never admit to that. He was tired of not playing quidditch. He was tired of everybody fighting. And for what?! People were dying out there, the world was a dark place, and people were fighting about the dumbest things. Even was doing it and it made him sick.
He needed fresh air. He needed to go to the Astronomy Tower. So, after his rounds as prefect, he made his way up there. Upon arriving, however, he heard someone speak. His mother. Scorp smiled half-heartedly at her. "Hey, mum. Just getting air."

@scorp <3 Now, Astoria only had one son. She had only had one child up until three months ago. However, as Head of House, and a Professor, she had been around children long enough to realize when something was wrong, or when one of them needed help. As Scorpius looked up and realized it was her up here, and his facial expression changed, Astoria's did as well. From happiness to complete concern.
Tori walked closer to her son and looked into his eyes. Scorpius just looked...exhausted. It broke her heart, seeing it. She didn't know what was wrong, but she wanted to know. The last time they had really sat down and spoken, he had been very wary of telling her anything. Astoria brought her hand up to rub his cheek. "What's wrong, sweetheart?"

Scorp saw that concern in her face and almost backed down the stairs. But, she was already crossing to him and looking into his eyes. She'd see everything, of course. She touched his cheek and he leaned toward her hand, letting out a small sigh of relief. Then she asked the question, the one that he knew she'd ask and he was afraid to answer. He blinked, biting down on his lip hard for a moment before stepping away and looking toward the sky, "a lot, I guess," he started, walking over to the edge of the tower to rest his arms on the stone there and keep his eyes on the stars. "I'm forgetting myself... don't know the way," he realized he was speaking gibberish.

@scorp <3 Astoria immediately became more worried, if that was possible. Seeing her blond boy bite his lip, and then walk away from her was enough to know something was really wrong with Scorpius. Even his body language was off. He rested near the edge of the tower and Astoria slowly followed him, watching the side of his face and how beautifully grown up he had become. Her hand rested on his shoulder and she tilted her head. "How could you be forgetting yourself, Scorpius?"

Scorp turned toward his mother"I used to have this hunger for knowledge and competition and now.. well, I've let myself get to wrapped up in other things. Good things," he said with a nod. "It's just getting hard to keep my balance. It's hard to be so secretive..." he turned back toward the sky and took in a deep breath. Now or never.
"I'm in love with Rose Weasley," he said softly, almost so soft that he barely heard himself.

@scorp <3 Astoria did not speak, and tried to listen intently. Scorpius' voice was extremely quiet, quiet in a way she had not heard before. Astoria truly hoped, honestly hoped, that he hadn't done something terrible. That was one of her worst fears, that Scorpius would follow in the path of someone he shouldn't be, doing things he shouldn't do. But, once he spoke again, she let out a relieved breath.
He was in love with Rose Weasley. Was that all?
Astoria smiled gently, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her chin on his shoulder. "Sweetheart, please don't be so upset about that. Is that all it was? That you love her?"

Scorpius kept his eyes forward as his mum answered him. He wasn't surpr8ised that she was being nice about it, but she wasn't the one he was worried about. "It's a lot harder than you think it is, mum. Her father won't be happy about it and dad..." he moved away from her, untangling from the hug in order to give himself some space. "And she's Ondina's cousin. How could I do that to her?" he shook his head, finally turning to look at her again. "It is something to be upset about. Everything's just so complicated and... anyway," he shoved his hands into his pockets.

@scorp <3 Ah, that is what he was worried about. Astoria hadn't even thought about Rose's father. She had met Ron a few times here and there while they were children, and she knew Draco's relationship with him wasn't always the best, but coming from her, they'd have to deal with one another. For their children. Scorpius stepped away from her and she hugged herself, her arms across her chest. "I will talk to dad. You never know what his reaction may be, sweetheart. As for Ron...we'll work through it. We will." Astoria didn't want to overstep Scorpius, so she didn't move forward to hug him again, but smiled as he looked up at her. "Scorpius, we can't help who we love. And...life is complicated, love is complicated. But if you're happy, there shouldn't be any other worries."

Scorp looked up, eyes wide with panic, as she said she'd talk to his father. "No," he said abruptly. Then he calmed, "I mean... let me talk to him first. Then you can work through whatever..." he sighed, "however it goes." He kept his hands firmly in his pockets, shaking his head even as she smile at him, being so comforting and encouraging. She spoke then about how they can't help who they love and how it is complicated, but about how his happiness should trump other worries. He nodded slowly, chewing on the inside of his mouth with his teeth. After a moment, he spoke again. "You're right. You're always right, and smart," he smiled at her. "I love you, mum. How did I deserve you."

@scorp <3 Astoria kept her soft smile at her son's reaction. She had assumed he'd act that way, especially since it was his father, and it was Rose Weasley. Astoria didn't have any issue with it; Rose was a wonderful student, and from what Tori had seen, she was an even better girl. All she wanted was for her son to be happy, even if that meant allowing him to speak with Draco on his own terms. "Of course, sweetheart. I won't step over you." Astoria stepped towards him again as he spoke, laughing slightly. She pulled him in close in a hug. Scorpius had grown fairly quickly, and was quite taller than his mother. Astoria rested her head on her son, and then pulled away, eyebrows raised with an amused smile. "I do think it is I that should be asking you that question, Scorpius. But I love you, too."

Once again Scorp mulled over how lucky he was to have such a mother. And father, really. HIs family was the most important thing in his life, and it was clear why. No wonder he was so determined to make one of his own. He accepted her hug and hugged her back, amused at the fact that he was taller than she. He grinned as she pulled back and spoke again, but gave a shrug. "What can I say, I'm a great son," he teased, chuckling. "But in all reality, I'm sure Lyla will be even smarter than I am. And that's a hard thing to do," he winked.

@scorp <3 Astoria laughed. He was a great son, one of the best. Astoria had always felt nervous that she hadn't been a good enough mother, that she wasn't always able to give her child, now children, the things that they needed and wanted. Tori had never wanted to spoil Scorpius, but she had a feeling there were points in his life where he was; not that it was a bad thing, because he had grown up quite amazingly and Astoria was incredibly proud of him. "It will be a very hard thing to do, but I'm sure she'll learn from the best." Astoria gave him a pointed look, but smiled. Scorpius was going to be an amazing older brother, he already was.

He grinned at her compliment and then let his shoulders relax a little. "How do you always know what to say? Does that run in the family? At least, your side," he joked. His dad sometimes had trouble with articulating what he really felt, and Scorp had kind of adopted that at times. Still, his mum had always been so easy to talk to. Her being a Professor was a nice bonus, because then he could really go to her any time that he wanted. He hoped that his friends felt the same way, that they could go to her with whatever they needed, considering she was the head of Slytherin and all.

@scorp <3 Astoria laughed quietly. She knew that Draco tended to have an issue with speaking with their son, somewhat similar to not having any type of filter. However, sometimes he did fairly well. Scorpius obviously took note of that, and it amused her. She hadn't ever realized that someday Scorpius would be able to see all of the issues that herself and Draco had as parents, even something as simple as talking to their son in the correct way. "It might! Or, it could be the seventeen years I've had at practicing being a mother." Astoria ruffled Scorpius' hair. "I hope you know you can come to me for anything, Scorpius. No matter what it may be."
