Ginnys hands were shaking as she tried to cut the potatoes with the knife. All she wanted was to make a decent meal for Harry, especially because she hadn't seen him in so many hours It almost felt like days. Was it days? She shook her head and snapped back to reality. It was almost easier for her to cook using muggle methods than it was using magic. She was always making knives fly around the room aimlessly whenever she tried, and that never ended well for anyone. But right now, doing it the muggle way was even becoming dangerous because her hands were shaking.
Why? Harry had been gone since 2:00 this morning, and it was nearing midnight again. That was almost twenty-four hours. Something big had to be happening, or a lot of little things all in a row Ginny didn't know. The only problem was, he hadn't been gone for this long in a very long time. The last time was probably when two of his associates had been terribly injured and Harry and Ron rescued them. Harry was quite upset that night when he returned home, and all Ginny could do was make jokes and try to lift his spirits.
But tonight she was already nervous. She just had a bad feeling, and that usually didn't end well in the kitchen. Ginny took a deep breath and set the knife down, taking a step back. She clasped her hands together and rubbed them a little. She crossed over to the window and looked outside into the Hallow. No sign of him, yet. Sometimes he would just apparate right outside the house, and the sound would send a chill up Ginnys spine every time. The house itself was protected, so he couldn't apparate inside. She kept her eye on the porch, waiting, hoping that he would return any minute and that her hands would stop shaking.

It was midnight, and he had been up since two in the morning. Granted he hadn’t got much sleep the night before either, maybe two hours worth before he was called back into the office. Harry had enjoyed his job while Kingsley was Minister, and things were going well. Until Kingsley was killed and then the idiot of a new minister stepped in and basically put restrictions on his department. The previous night had been bad apparently since he had been called in at two in the morning to go to another murder scene. It was bad and it wasn’t just one of his aurors that had been killed there were over fifteen dead bodies, and seven of those were his own aurors. The others were all muggleborn wizards and witches who worked in the ministry and other places such as St Mungos and Gringotts. He hadn’t had anything to eat since he had been out cleaning up the mess, and visiting those families personally. It was difficult to have to be the one to tell people that they were never going to see their loved ones ever again. Harry hoped that with the Order he could put a stop to all of this madness. He was quite sure that Ginny was still up, for she had gotten up when he did. It was darker than usual tonight, since there was no moon in the sky and the clouds blocked any and all light from the stars. As he walked down the street, for he had chosen to apparate at the end of their street, towards his house he could see a light on in the window, of the kitchen. Harry could see Ginny looking out the window as he got closer. He was glad that she had stayed up, most likely trying to cook him a meal. But all he wanted was to hold her. He had a rough day and it seemed that things were bound to get worse. For things always got worse before they got better. As he walked through the wards that protected his house he could tell that they were holding well, but at the same time he was going to ask Walton to come by over the weekend to strengthen them, since the man was gifted in casting and creating wards. Harry didn’t want to take any chances. He would do everything in his power to protect Ginny and their family. He stepped up on the porch and into the light for the first time. He looked a complete and utter mess, his hair was even more untidy that usual from the countless times he had run his hands through his hair in frustration. And he was pretty sure that the rest of him looked just as bad as his hair did. Harry reached out and opened the door. Once he was inside he let out a sigh he was home and hopefully for longer this time. After taking his cloak off he walked to the kitchen and saw Ginny standing there still looking out the window, clasping her hands together which were clearly shaking. She was the reason why he lived, why he chose to keep on fighting. He could never let her go. He considered himself the luckiest man on earth. Harry walked over to Ginny and wrapped his arms around her, and then leaned his head close to her ear and said. “Ginny, I love you so much.” It was all he could say, he just needed comfort after having seen the mass ‘grave’ of fifteen people many of whom were his coworkers. And Ginny was the only person who could comfort him, she was always there for him and he was grateful for that. Ginevra Molly Potter

Finally Ginny saw Harry in the light on the porch. His hair was a mess and his eyes red, probably from lack of sleep, but Ginny still found him as handsome as ever. Mostly she was just relieved that he had made it home. She almost ran to the door and threw it open, but she had to calm herself. He would come in on his own. She saw him open the door and took the opportunity to look at her reflection in the window while he took of his cloak. Her hair was frazzled, his like her. Her clothes were wrinkled and sweaty from the stress. She did her best with the few seconds she had to straighten her clothes and ruffle her fingers through her hair, trying to get her hair to look somewhat decent. She knew that Harry would call her beautiful, not matter what, but she still wanted to at least look like she was trying.
She started into her own eyes through the window and clasped her hands back together, they had still been shaking. She didn't want him to see her like that, looking so worried and clammy. She was so caught up in not looking like she was desperately waiting for him that she didn't even notice when he crossed over to her and wrapped his arms around her from behind. She felt her heartbeat slow down as he leaned in close to her ear. "Ginny, I love you so much." She let out a long breath, one that she had been holding for hours, and relaxed her body into his arms. She leaned her head back onto his shoulder and turned to face him, planting a gentle kiss on his jaw line.
"I love you, Harry." She let the silence linger for a few moments, relishing in the warmth of his arms. He was here. He was home. He was safe. For a moment she felt herself feeling silly for worrying so much about him. But his job was indeed dangerous, and she had every right to worry. The most he had to worry about, work wise, for Ginny was that she'd be smacked in the head by a bludger while at a game. Of course, being who he was, the personal dangers in their family were far worse than most. She could barely stand the thought that her children were so far away, completely unprotected by their parents. The only solace Ginny had in that fact was that her dear friend Neville was at Hogwarts, and she trusted him deeply.
She snapped her eyes open after a few moments and pulled away, just enough to whip around and face him, "Hey, four eyes, don't you come in here and hug me without asking the safe question, first! House rules," truthfully, she was grateful that he had disregarded the house rule this time in order to tell her he loved her. That was eons more important to her than the safe words, but they had a rule and she knew that keeping them made him happy. They made him, and herself, feel a lot safer. She looked him in the eye, placing both hands on his shoulder, "recite to me the Valentine song I foolishly sent to you in your second year."
It really was a silly song, but it was one of those things that only Harry would know. Of course, he had forgotten it after that year, but she shared it with him later on as a little joke and now they used it as one of their safe questions. Plus, it always seemed to cheer the two up.

" Hey, four eyes, don't you come in here and hug me without asking the safe question, first! House rules," Harry wasn’t really surprised that Ginny remembered about the house rules which he had disregarded, just so he could hold her. She was the most beautiful women in the world. "recite to me the Valentine song I foolishly sent to you in your second year." Seriously, she really wanted him to recite that song to her now of all times. Granted it had been his idea in the first place to have a safe question that only they knew. “ Okay love.” He said before reciting the song: His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad, His hair is as dark as a blackboard. I wish he was mine, he's really divine, The hero who conquered the Dark Lord
Harry said it rather quickly as he looked into Ginny’s eyes. It would normally make him laugh or at least it would get a smile out of him. But not tonight, not after the day that he had. He had more people cry on his shoulder today than he had during his whole career as an Auror. Sure he had gone and told the families about their losses, and they had all taken it rather well, but today that was not the case. And so it was not only physically exhausting, but emotionally exhausting as well. Harry pulled Ginny close to him, he just needed to hold her. After a few minutes, he had decided to tell her what had happened today. Harry didn’t want to but he needed to talk about it, because if he didn’t he would feel even worse than he did now. “Ginny, today…” He paused he wasn’t sure how to say this, because he knew that if he told her she would probably break down. And he didn’t want her to feel as bad as he did. “Today was really bad, you know how I have told you that people are killing aurors. Well now it is other ministry workers as well. All of them were either half-bloods or muggleborns.” Harry told her, in a quiet voice. However he wasn’t going to tell her how many people that they had found this morning. If she asked then he would, because long ago they had agreed to never lie to each other and to be completely honest. There were no secrets, when he had decided to start the Order again he had talked to her about it first before letting the old crowd know. “I would have been home earlier but, I’ve spent all day visiting people and informing of the loss of their loved ones.” He couldn’t go on but he knew that he had gotten his point across. There was nothing else that he could say about the matter. Besides all that mattered to him right now was the woman he was holding in his arms. Ginevra Molly Potter

As Harry recited the song, quickly and as monotone and uninterested as ever, Ginny knew something was seriously wrong. Usually after a mildly hard day that song would cheer them both up almost instantly. Today must have been extremely difficult and devastating. Ginny sighed and ran her fingers through the front of her hair with one hand. Silence was never good, neither was the look on her husbands face. Ginny wrapped both of her arms around his torso, and pulled herself close to him right before he spoke. She tightened her grip around him as he explained why the day had been so long and difficult for him. It was worse, now that they weren't just targeting aurors specifically. Aurors knew they were going to die some day while on the job, other ministry workers thought they were safe, especially the ones who didn't work dangerous jobs at all. How horrible it must be for their families who expected a love one to come home today.
Ginny pulled back a little, just enough to see his face, "Harry, it wouldn't take all day if it was only a few people," she realized. Her heart started to pound in her chest, her blood boiled in her ears, "how many where there? How many people?" she asked. She was compelled to ask because she knew that Harry needed to talk about this, even if it was just going to feed her worries and suspicions. She could feel her heart beat in her throat, and her mouth tasted like iron. She tried to calm herself, but her hands started shaking again where they were placed on his back and her eyes glistened with tears. She pulled away, only to turn her face from him.
"I didn't think you were going to make it home day, Harry. I had a bad feeling..." she choked, taking a shaky deep breath and bringing a hand up to her heart, "maybe that's what they bad feeling was. All those people..." she knew the number had to be large, larger than she was comfortable with. Heck, she wasn't even comfortable with one murder, which meant every single one was a loss to her. She didn't have to know these people. She didn't have to be their friend, or family. She only knew that she cared about every single one of them, the same way Harry did. The same way Harry tried his best to personally visit and inform families of their losses. There was a certain level of family within everyone in the Auror office, and the reinstated Order. After Shacklebolt, she couldn't bear losing another Order member. Not now. Not today. Not any day.

"how many where there? How many people?" Harry knew that she would ask that question. It wasn’t something that could be avoided. He knew that Ginny cared about everyone just like he did. Harry could feel that her hands were shaking again. “It was basically a mass grave and it wasn’t pretty. I know several of the younger aurors that went with me ended up losing what they had eaten for dinner the night before. There were fifteen bodies. Fifteen of them Gin. It was bad.” He couldn’t go on as his emotions took over and a single tear fell down his face. And most of the aurors were young and had just started their families, and everything. When Ginny pulled her face away he knew that she was on the verge of tears. He reached up and turned her head so he could look into her eyes. Harry cupped her face in his hands after she had finished speaking and kissed her putting forth all of his feelings for her in their embrace and in that kiss. “I will always come back for you, I promise. I chose to live for you, remember?” Harry had already told her this long ago but he wanted to remind her of that. Instead of going to the living room he turned one of the kitchen chairs into a big soft and comfortable chair and sat down while pulling Ginny on top of his lap so she could sit there. All he wanted to do was hold her. He hadn’t seen so much death in years. Sure he had seen a death or two every year when aurors died. But within the past few months they he had seen the dead body of Kingsley, and about 80 some aurors and now other ministry workers. Things were getting worse but at least this time they would get through it together. Ginevra Molly Potter(sorry that it is short)

Ginny shook her head. She couldn't bring herself to picture it, or she might lose her food too. As Harrys tears escaped his face Ginny quickly reached up and wiped it away before it even reached his lips. She couldn't stand to see him like this, but she knew that there was nothing she could do to cheer him up right now other than just being there for him. As he turned her head back to him after she turned away, she bit her lip, not wanting to show so much sadness. She had to be the strong one right now, or he would suffer. She couldn't have that. As he kissed her she felt a little more calm, relieved that at least they still had each other. After all the hell they'd been through, they still had each other. "I know, I know you'll alwaystry to come back. But people-" she held back a sob again, "people don't always have that choice. Even you."
She was happy when he transfigured the chair in the kitchen and pulled her onto his lap. She leaned sideways, placing a head on his shoulder and her hand on his chest. She could feel his heartbeat there, and it was one of the most comforting sounds in the world. The sat there for what seemed like a thousand rain drops, a million years and only a moment. It was hard to tell time when she was so close to the boy who lived, the one she had loved for so long. So many times it seemed they would never be together, and so many times she made choices on that belief. Those choices seemed silly now. Ginny waiting a moment longer before speaking again, "any news from the children?" It was a touchy subject, especially since James had that experience on the train, but she had to know what Harry knew about it.

Harry smiled as Ginny wiped the tears away from face. "I know, I know you'll always try to come back. But people-people don't always have that choice. Even you." At those words Harry hung his head just a little bit but he knew that she was right and that he wouldn’t get a second chance again. “Gin you know that I will do everything in my power to always come back to you, for we will always have each other to rely on and to get us through these tough times". "any news from the children?" He turned away for a second as if he had heard something but he hadn’t. It had been a long time since any of his kids had written to him. Granted he knew how they were doing from the talk that he had with Neville and also with Walton. Those two men kept him informed of what was going on at Hogwarts and he was glad to have them as friends. Harry turned back to his wife who was sitting on his lap and with her head on his shoulder. Harry rubbed her back in a comforting way as he began. “I haven’t heard anything from them in quite some time. Not even a letter.” He paused for a moment as he pondered why his kids hadn’t written to him in a while. He knew that Ginny and their daughter Lily had been writing back and forth, but that was the extent of what he had heard from them. However he had heard many things from his friends about his kids. “Even though I have not heard from them in quite some time, I have heard what they are up to from Neville and Walton. James Is having a tough time in some of his classes because of how bad he still feels about finding the body of the murdered first year. And from what I hear as an indication of how bad he feels, James wasn’t able to cast a patronus. Like we have seen him do before.” Harry felt bad for his son, since he knew that the boy could cast a corporeal patronus, but it would take a while for him to get over the fact that he had seen a dead body. “I haven’t heard much about Albus but he is doing well from what I can gather. And then we have our lovely daughter Lily, whom I know you know that is doing well in her own right.” Harry was proud of his kids but at the same time that they had to endure these dark times. He looked at Ginny and smiled for the first time all day long. He was happy that his family was safe. Even though his kids were away at school, and Ginny and he were here at home. Well at home some of the time since he had been going into the office a rather lot and he knew that Ginny was also busy doing things around here. “Besides worrying about me all day long, how was your day Gin?” He asked with a small smile as he was feeling happy for some reason but he knew that it was all attributed to the most wonderful woman in the world, who just so happened to be sitting in his lap. Ginny shrugged, trying not to seem as worried and weak as she was feeling. "I know you're right, we'll always have each other. Heck, I didn't even let you fight at Hogwarts without me all those years ago." She chuckled a little, remembering how angry he was when he found her sneaking into the castle in order to fight. He was so worried, cute and intense then. That was most certainly one of her favorite moments with him, the fact that he worried so much about her.
When Harry mentioned not hearing from the kids, Ginny tensed for a short moment. Truthfully she had heard from Lily almost every week, so she really had no reason to worry. Her only daughter often speaks for the boys as well, which helps. Ginny was grateful that Walton and Neville communicated with Harry. She hated feeling like they were spying on their kids, but knowing what was happening at Hogwarts was too important right now to worry about that. She thought about if her parents had been watching her secretly, and almost laughed. They'd have to spy on too many kids at once. That wasn't really probable.
"James, my poor baby," she muttered. There was nothing like seeing your oldest fall apart like that. He wasn't able to cast his own Patronus? Ginnys heart broke at the news. She lifted a hand and placed it over her heart, trying to steady the pain. She nuzzled into his shoulder further, if that was even possible. "He'll be okay, he's your son. Our son. And Albus is probably remaining aloof, as usual." She laughed, but only a little.
Ginny glanced up at him in time to see his smile, and smiled back. She moved her hand from her heart and brushed her fingers against his cheek, "it wasn't all day," she smirked, "the day was all right though, I spent some time with Luna today. She's doing well, worried about Hogwarts as well, though."

"I know you're right, we'll always have each other. Heck, I didn't even let you fight at Hogwarts without me all those years ago." It was all true and he knew it. Hell If she hadn’t fought with him he was sure that things might have turned out quite differently for him and everyone else. She was what made him get through it all and the reason why he chose to come back instead of the alternative of dying. “You know you are what got me through it all, and you are the reason why I came back.” Harry had told Ginny this all before, but at the same time he felt like he had to say it once more. “I love you Gin, you are my everything.”He held Ginny close as she leaned into is shoulder even more so. When she smiled up at him and brushed his cheek with her fingers Harry felt better. "it wasn't all day,… the day was all right though, I spent some time with Luna today. She's doing well, worried about Hogwarts as well, though." Of course she had spent all day with Luna, he should have guessed. Luna was a great friend, and was even the godmother to Lily, who happened to be just like her at times. “It is good to hear that Luna is doing well. How is the rest of Luna’s family doing?” He paused and looked at his wife. “Well I am glad that you didn’t spend all day worrying about me and the children by yourself.” He knew by know that both Ginny and Luna worried about their families and when they did they would go keep each other company. He swore it was like an instinct that those two could tell when the other was worrying about something for they always ended up spending time together. “So what did you two do all day? Anything fun or interesting?” Harry asked since he was now feeling a bit better, the pain and sadness leaving him, it was almost gone. All thanks to Ginny. He felt much better than he did when he walked in the front door tonight. He reached up and ran his hand through his wife’s beautiful, soft, and long red hair. He loved playing with it, as it seemed to always calm the both of them down. Ginevra Molly Potter

”I love you, Harry,” she kissed his neck gently, ”you’re my everything too. The reason I keep coming back.” They were really just repeating things that had already been said, but these two had a special marriage. A marriage of reliving vows and promises, a marriage of passionate love and deep understanding. Repetition never got old because it was necessary, necessary to keep the world spinning.
”They are doing well, as far as she said. She writes her boys often, but she does see them very much. Rolf is working hard trying to make her happy, but he doesn’t need to try as hard as he thinks she does,” she laughed. It was great to see that Luna had found someone who loved her just as much as she loved them. She deserved it more than anyone that Ginny knew. She shrugged as Harry expressed his gladness in her not worrying alone all day. She had days like that before, and they never ended well. ”I try not to do my worrying on my own if I can help it.”
Harry was finally starting to lighten up, feeling a little bit better. This relieved her as she looked into his hand and kept her hand placed on his cheek, stroking his scruff momentarily, ”I mostly just wrote a few letters, to the kids and mum, and made sure that everything was ready for the Order meeting with Hannah. I’m going to head over their early to help her get some food out for the meeting.” Her and Hannah were never close in school, but Neville was her best guy friend and she had befriended with Hannah as soon as he made it clear he was going to marry her.
As Harry stroked her hair, she immediately felt her heart start to relax. He always knew exactly how to comfort her. She found a giggle bubbling up inside of her, for when he played with her hair it always made her want to kiss him and never stop. She held it back though, at least for the moment.

”I love you, Harry,… you’re my everything too. The reason I keep coming back.” Of course he had heard those words many times before, but now in dark times it was a real comfort to hear them once more. Those words and vows that they would continuously repeat to each other made life easy to get through and many people always asked him why he was happy to some extent during dark or troubled times, and this was why. All because he had a loving wife and he also had three amazing kids who he could always count on and come back to. Harry was still holding Ginny as he listened to her talk about how Luna and her family were doing, and how Rolf was doing his best to make Luna happy. Which if he really thought about it, it was quite funny especially since knowing Rolf, the man would try his hardest and best just to make Luna happy. Which just so happened to be a good thing. “I know you try not to do your worrying on your own, and that is a good thing Gin.” Harry said and he was truly glad that Ginny always tried to do her worrying with others, since when having to worry about others it was never something that you would want to do alone. ”I mostly just wrote a few letters, to the kids and mum, and made sure that everything was ready for the Order meeting with Hannah. I’m going to head over their early to help her get some food out for the meeting.” That was good, right, he would have to make a visit to his kids soon, since he would be at Hogwarts in a few days. Granted he should probably be writing to them more often but then yet again he was a very busy person and what better way to talk to his kids than going to see them. “That is good that you wrote to them all. Especially mum and dad.” It had taken him a little while to get used to calling Molly and Arthur, mum and dad, but it felt right to do so, since they had done so much for him. “I am sure Hannah will appreciate the help, since there is a lot of work to be done for the Order meeting. Oh and just so you know Bill should be there, and I know you haven’t seen him in a while, and he might not look the best since he has been out doing work for the Order, already even though we haven’t officially reestablished it yet.” Harry informed his wife. “Also I might go and visit our kids sometime, to see how they are doing. Is there anything you want me to give to them when I go?” He asked, as he continued to play with Ginny’s hair. Ginevra Molly Potter

Ginny smiled at Harrys understanding of her relationship with Luna. If anyone should be grateful for Luna, it was Harry. She was Ginnys rock when Harry wasn't around. She was really doing their family a great service by keeping Ginny sane. Because a sane Ginny is a happy Ginny, and a happy Ginny means a happy Harry, James, Lily and Albus. Ginny perked up a little when he mentioned Bill and cocked an eyebrow at him, "have you been sending my brother on dangerous missions, Harry?" she made a tsk tsk sound with her tongue and pretended to look upset but smiled. "Nah, it's good for him. He needs a good adventure to keep himself entertained. That's where that daughter of his gets her ambition," she chuckled. Bill was one of her favorite brothers, there was no lying about that.
As nice as it was to be snuggling with her husband on a random chair in the kitchen, Ginny still wasn't feeling as calm as she would have liked to be now. Although, when Harry suggested that he was thinking of going to visit the kids soon her spirits lifted. "Oh! That's a wonderful idea. I told James that I would ask you about your schedule next week actually. It's the first Quidditch match of the season, Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. I told him you might not be able to make it but I wanted to ask you anyway, I think it'd be a really good idea." She smiled. In this world full of chaos Ginny would give anything to have a nice day with her family watching James squash Slyherin in Quidditch. That would be a dream come true in a time like this.
"Also, could you give something to Lily for me? It's going to start getting colder and I think she'll want an extra pair of mittens just in case," she started to get up but stopped, chuckling and looking back at her adorable husband, his hand still laced through her hair, she settled back onto his lap, "But that can wait a moment, can't it?" she smiled at him and leaned forward to gently kiss his him.

"have you been sending my brother on dangerous missions, Harry? Nah, it's good for him. He needs a good adventure to keep himself entertained. That's where that daughter of his gets her ambition," Well wasn’t that the truth. Bill always needed a good adventure, and plus he was the best man for the job that he had him out doing. “Would I ever send family into harms way if I was not sure that they were up for the task or job?” Harry asked Ginny with a scandalized look on his face. He was just joking around and he was sure that Ginny would pick up on it. “My schedule is free during the time that the game is supposed to take place. I may have planned it that way, I even took an extra day off, so I will have the whole weekend to spend with you and the kids.” Harry had already planned on being at the first quidditch match of the season, and plus he wanted to spend time with his family, because it could be some time before they had a chance to do so again. “Of course I can take the mittens to Lily. And of course it can wait a moment. We do have all night after all.” Harry said in response to Ginny’s questions. Harry continued to play with his wife’s hair for a little bit. “Don’t kill me for not waking you up the other night but Teddy finally came home and we had a nice long chat just the two of us. He is still unsure as to what to do about the situation with Victiore. But I did give him a letter that Tonks and Lupin left him, It is one that I haven’t shown to you before and if you ever want to hear what is says, because I am sure that I have sparked your curiosity, I can just get the pensive and let you see the memory.” He knew that he had to tell Ginny this some time, and well now was as good a time as any to do so. Ginny nodded at Harrys comment and punched him arm lightly when he made that stupid face, "I knoooooow that!" She chuckled, leaning forward to kiss the spot on his arm that she had just punched. But she glared at him again as she pulled back, ready to punch him another time if needed. She never punched hard enough that it would actually hurt... at least not often!
Ginny smiled wider as he said that he planned to go to the game with her, it was going to be a great weekend. "Excellent! It's date then," she would write to James and let him know first thing in the morning. Ginnys mini mind celebration about a weekend with the kids was interrupted when Harry mentioned the tedoire situation. Ginny had always love Teddy like a son, and really wouldn't mind if he joined the family officially. But she could understand that Victoire had to make her own choices, even if Ginny didn't exactly know what those were.
"Hmm.... well, my curiosity is peeked, that much is true," she pondered for a moment before turning back to him, batting her eyelashes a little. "But those two can wait, let's just spend some time together. You and I," she grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him in for another kiss, a longer one this time. "If you know what I mean," she whispered against his lips.
((Aaaaaaand I think we should let the thread end there!))
