Today Anna wanted to show Oscar something new. For his short time at the castle, he knew it surprisingly well and she wanted to show him one of her favorite spots. So she'd sent him an owl telling him how to get to the pond. It wasn't quite winter yet, so the water wasn't frozen over, not that Anna really cared about that. The truth was, there was something she wanted to tell Oscar and she didn't know how. Hopefully the beauty of the pond would help clear her mind and hopefully the conversation would go well, solidifying this place as one of her favorites in the school. She wanted to tell Oscar she loved him, but how? She couldn't just come and say it outright, out of the blue, but she wanted him to know. The other day they only said they thought about one another constantly. That was true, but Anna's feelings for him were so much more than that. So here she sat, at the pond, looking into the depths of it, hoping for some bright idea to come to her. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even hear him when he approached.

Oscar wasn’t much into riddles or puzzles, so when Anna sent him an owl telling him nothing but to come down to the pond, he had been a little apprehensive. He went nonetheless – it wasn’t like the pond was a far walk from the carriage, and if this did turn out to be a puzzle of some sort…well, Oscar would probably grit his teeth and bear it if doing it made Anna happy. When he came up to her, Anna seemed to be lost in thought. Oscar reached out and touched Anna’s shoulder gently, hoping that he didn’t shock her or anything of the sort. “You owled?” He asked, cocking his head slightly to the side. He didn’t know what else to ask her since the owl had been so vague, but Oscar also didn’t like silence, so he sat down beside Anna, slinging his arm around her shoulders carelessly. That was the sort of thing boyfriends did, he thought. Oscar had been a boyfriend before, but never one that was so emotionally invested. It was kind of strange, but also kind of beautiful. He liked it.

Anna turned when she felt Oscar touch her shoulder. She smiled when he mentioned her owl, making the statement into a question before he sat next to her. She shrugged, looking at the pond again when he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "I missed you," she said simply in explanation, scooting closer to him. "And this is one of my favorite places, so I thought ..." she trailed off, not really knowing where she was going with that. Hopefully Oscar wouldn't notice that she wasn't telling him everything. The thing was, when she was in the maze she realized her true feelings for him, and now she wanted to tell him but she didn't know how. "I wanted to be with you," she said finally, leaning her head on him and hoping that what she was going to say soon wouldn't weird him out. She couldn't imagine life without him and was terrified that she would scare him away, especially after the way things had been between them since the day of the first task, how close they'd become. She didn't want to mess that up.

Oscar couldn’t help but smile when Anna said she missed him. It made him feel a lot better about the fact that he had missed her, too. Anna moved closer to him, which made Oscar’s job of holding her shoulders a lot easier. He could smell her shampoo from where he was sitting, and Oscar had to think about that for a moment, wondering if he had ever smelled it before and just forgotten it, or if this is the first time. “We can share our favorite places now.” Oscar finished. Anna had invited him to be with her at her favorite place, and that made Oscar happy, because it made him think, at least a little, that he had a chance at being her favorite person. When Anna added that she wanted to be with him, Oscar turned to place a kiss on the top of her head. “I always want to be with you.” He replied. It was what they had told each other before, and it wasn’t any less true now. Sensing that there was something else Anna wanted to say, Oscar kept quiet, waiting for her to figure out what she wanted to do.

Oscar finished her sentence and Anna couldn't keep herself from smiling in response. "Exactly," she told him, happy that he understood what she meant. He kissed the top of her head and Anna turned to look at him, a teasing expression stealing over her face. "Always?" she asked, needing to hear it again so she could do this. If he said that he always wanted to be with her, then maybe he wouldn't mind her telling him how she felt about him, about the depth of her feelings. It felt like every moment she spent with him confirmed her already strong feelings. She took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to say this. She couldn't let it hang between them any longer; she just needed to get it out in the open. For her sake, at least.
"Oscar, I don't know how to say this," she started, looking at him nervously and hesitating as her words eluded her. Anna wished his arm wasn't around her so she could hold his hand in her own and maybe feel some sort of tether as she worked through her emotions, but she couldn't tell him that. Besides, she really did like how it felt to have his arm wrapped around her shoulders; her only problem with it was that she just wanted to hold on to him right now and she couldn't. Anna shivered slightly from nerves and looked back to the pond. Maybe it wouldn't be so hard to say if she wasn't looking at him. "W-when I was in the maze," she started, stuttering slightly. "I mean, when I was blind," Anna clarified so what she was about to say would make more sense. "I realized a few things. I was nervous that I'd lost my sight permanently and that I'd never see again, especially when it didn't wear off right away," Anna took a deep breath before she continued, trying to gain her composure. The memory of not being able to see, of the darkness, was still hard for her to think about. She blinked, wishing the water in her eyes would go away so she could turn to look at him. "It didn't take long for me to realize that I would never be able to actually see you again and ... that was hard because I really, really wanted to," Anna paused as she turned to face Oscar. She had to see his reaction right off, so she could know what he really felt when she finally let the words out. "Right then, more than anything, I wanted to hear your voice telling me it would be alright and see your face smiling at me because ..." She hesitated, wondering if she should actually say the words. Once she said them she couldn't take them back, which was what she was most nervous about. Was she about to ruin everything between them? "Because I love you." The last three words came out in a whisper and Anna watched Oscar desperately, terrified of his reaction.

Oscar nodded. “Always.” There was no other way to say it; Anna was the only thing he had left, and he was going to love her until she left him, or maybe even after that. Oscar was deeply flawed in that he rarely let people in, but when he did, he was fiercely loyal, even clingy at some points. He had let Anna in, and she was going to get every second of always that he had left. Maybe it wasn’t going to be forever, but Oscar hoped that it was for a long, long time.
Anna began saying that she didn’t know how to say something, and Oscar kept quiet. He knew how that could be, when you desperately wanted words but couldn’t find any of them. She began to talk about the maze, and her blindness, and Oscar couldn’t help but frown. That had been terrifying to watch, because even as spectators, they hadn’t known whether or not the blindness was permanent. Oscar had assumed not, since it seemed a steep price to pay for one wrong turn, but he had been afraid for what had happened to Anna nonetheless. When Anna made it about how she would never see him again, though, Oscar’s eyes began to prickle with tears. He could only imagine how terrifying it was to wonder if your sight would ever come back. He knew the reality of never being able to see someone again, but it was different when that person was gone and when they were there, but you were the problem. Oscar was wondering where Anna was going with all of this, and when she finally said what she had set out to say in the first place, Oscar felt like he had been punched in the gut. She loved him.
“I lied to you.” Oscar told her quietly. “When I told you what mamour meant, I did not tell you the truth. It does not mean my dear or my darling.” He paused and swallowed. “It means my love.” Oscar had thought that truth would never come out, yet here it was, for everyone to see. “I think that I have known for a long time that you loved me, Anna.” Oscar told her honestly. “But I think I have known for even longer that I love you, too.”

Every second felt like a thousand years as Anna waited for Oscar's response. She knew he probably wasn't hesitating the way it felt like he was, but it felt like he was taking a century to answer her and Anna didn't know how long she could wait. She needed to know, needed to hear him answer her. She felt like she was going to explode if she had to wait any longer. And the first thing he said was that he lied to her. In the second it took for him to continue, Anna's mind went into hyper-drive. He lied to her? About what? When?
When he started speaking again, Anna forced herself to look at him, to pay attention to the words he was saying as he explained himself. Her jaw dropped when Oscar said that his nickname for her meant "my love." He'd been calling her his love all this time? He called her that since ... actually, she couldn't remember when exactly he started calling her that, but she was pretty sure it was before he taught her how to make crepes. She was so ... delirious with joy that she couldn't help herself. Anna shrugged out from under his arm and wrapped her own arms around his neck, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before hugging him tight. She knew that she heard him right, that he just told her that he loved her back, but it was taking some time to really sink in. "I love you," she whispered into his ear, so relieved that she could finally say the words to him without having to worry. She just wanted to bask in the sensation that he didn't just care for her, he loved her.
"So," Anna said with a sly smile as she pulled away from him so she could look him in the eyes. "I guess that means we're officially dating one another now, right?" She was teasing, but not at the same time. She wanted it to be official, wanted everyone to know that Oscar was not available and wouldn't be for a long time. Not if she had anything to say about it, that was.

Hearing those words again, whispered in his hear, sent a shiver up Oscar’s spine. Anna loved him. “I love you, too.” He responded, his voice also a whisper. He wanted to scream it to the world, but it also seemed like a secret that he ought to keep for the rest of time. He was certain that he looked absolutely ridiculous with the goofy smile on his face, but there was nothing else to do but smile. Anna pulled away from him, and Oscar made a soft whining noise in the back of his throat before he realized that she had only disentangled herself so she could look him in the eyes. She asked if this meant they were officially dating, and Oscar let out a loud laugh. “I would love if you would be my girlfriend, Anna.” He answered. They had already been on one sort-of date, if you counted their walk and their playing in the leaves as a date, but it would be nice to be able to do something similar when they both knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that they were in a relationship together, and that they loved each other. Oscar began to feel giddy all over again at the thought, but he forced himself to remain somewhat calm. “Though I do not think we can go on a fancy date for a while.” There was the problem of money, since Oscar didn’t have much to waste, but also that Oscar didn’t think there were many places in Hogsmeade for the two of them to go and be alone – there were just too many students there for a special moment to be shared for just the two of them.

Anna grinned when he whispered the words back at her. She couldn't help it, it didn't matter if he'd said it only a few moments ago, hearing Oscar say that he loved her made her feel all tingly inside. Why hadn't she felt so many butterflies and so delighted the other day when he said that all he could do was think about her? Maybe it was knowing what he really felt for her that made the difference. His laugh at her question made her sigh with relief. Apparently even though they admitted their feelings, she was still nervous about it all, nervous that he would change his mind. "I want you to be my boyfriend," she responded softly, reaching forward and playing with his hair a little. Ever since the other day when they jumped in the leaves she wanted to play with his hair. Maybe it was because she'd never played with anyone's hair before him, but she couldn't help it. She smiled at him. "I don't care if we go on a fancy date," she told Oscar, "As long as I know that you're mine, that's enough for me," She shrugged a little and smirked at him, "but I wouldn't mind if everyone else knew it too." Anna couldn't help herself, though she was a little surprised by her possessiveness toward him. That came on more suddenly than she expected, but she didn't care. Oscar had just told her that he loved her and she intended to seal their confession. She placed her hands on his cheeks gently and leaned forward, giving him a long kiss.

Oscar’s smile widened when Anna confirmed that she wanted him to be her boyfriend. That was great. That was perfect. That was…everything that he wanted. The fact that Anna didn’t care about fancy dates was just icing on the cake. He hadn’t expected her to demand anything of the sort, considering that all of what they had done together so far had been spontaneous and entirely free. He didn’t expect that to change just because they were now dating. When Anna said that it wouldn’t hurt if everyone else knew that they belonged to each other, Oscar smirked, a playful glint entering his eye. “Well, you could just tell papers…” He said teasingly. If they hadn’t already interviewed her after the First Task, they certainly would soon, and it wasn’t like there was a better way to make sure that the entire world knew that she was taken. Not that Oscar cared as much about being in the papers now – he knew that Anna would get around to mentioning him eventually. Anna kissed him again, and Oscar was certain that it was the longest they had ever kissed for. He had kept his mouth politely closed for most of their kisses, and while he was sorely tempted to open it this time and show Anna what he could do with his mouth, Oscar knew that would probably scare her if she had no warning. Maybe next time they kissed, he thought, grinning wryly at her.

Anna knew he was teasing, but she also wanted him to know that she wasn't going to be trying to keep them a secret. She did want everyone to know about their relationship. Honestly, she didn't know how she would respond if she saw another girl going after him, but she knew it wouldn't be a good thing. "I'm going to," she said, even though it made her nervous. She didn't like talking to reporters and she most certainly didn't want them to be butting into her love life, but she was a Triwizard Champion. They were probably going to find out sooner or later. At least if she told them about it they might not give her too much grief about it. "You won't care if they don't say nice things, will you?" Did that make any sense? Anna wasn't quite sure if her question did, but hopefully Oscar knew what she meant. What if the paper spun things around or people didn't like the fact that they were dating? From what Anna heard about Uncle Harry's experience in the tournament, fans could be pretty mean if they wanted to be and she didn't want that to chase Oscar away. She believed him, knew he loved her but she didn't want to take any chances with him. Still, kissing him was fabulous! If nothing else convinced her of his feelings, his kiss certainly would. When they pulled apart Anna noticed that he was smiling differently. "What?" she asked, her voice suspicious. "What are you thinking, Oscar?"

Oscar beamed when Anna said that she was going to tell the papers about them. It wasn’t his desire for fame so much as the fact that Oscar liked that Anna was comfortable enough with their relationship to want to share it with more people. Anna said that the reporters – and the fans – might not exactly be nice to him, and asked if he was okay with that. Oscar shrugged. “I will not care as long as you say nice things to me instead.” He teased, bopping her gently on the nose. Who was he to listen to strangers he didn’t know when he had someone who he knew and trusted right in front of him telling him that he was a good person? It just didn’t make sense to Oscar.
Anna seemed to have notice the diabolical smile on his face, and when she asked about him about it, Oscar smirked. “Nothing, Anna.” He said, feigning innocence. “I was just thinking about what I’m going to do the next time I kiss you.” There. Now she would be intrigued, and she would kiss him again, and then he could show her what kissing dozens of other girls had taught him. Not that he wanted Anna to be thinking about all the other girls he had kissed, because Oscar didn’t want to be thinking about that when he was kissing Anna.

Anna grinned at Oscar, "I will always say nice things to you," she told him with a sly grin. "Especially if everyone else is being stupid and mean. I love you, you know," she giggled when he bopped her nose, adoring how it felt to be so free about their feelings with one another. Sure, things changed the other day for the better, but it was even more amazing now and she loved the change.
He smirked at her and Anna knew he was up to something. The thing was, she really wanted to know what it was. And then he said he'd show her the next time they kissed. Her first instinct was to lean forward and kiss him, but she restrained herself for a moment, thinking that he probably expected that. This time, she wanted to go for the unexpected. She lifted an eyebrow and teased, "Well then, why don't you kiss me and show me," she suggested with a small, inviting smile.

Oscar smiled at Anna when she said she would always say nice things to him, even when other people were being mean. “I am sure you have no shortage of people telling you how lovely you are.” Oscar told Anna. “But I will always be there, even when others forget.” Oscar chuckled at Anna’s giggle. “Because I love you, too, you know.” He was never going to get sick of those words, ever.
Anna didn’t fall for his ploy to get her to kiss him, and Oscar made a face at her. She was not good at playing along with his games. “Do not be surprised.” Oscar warned her, just so she knew that something unexpected was to come – as if his first warning hadn’t been enough for her. Oscar leaned forward and placed his lips against Anna’s, opening his mouth just slightly and showing her exactly how talented at kissing he was.

He said that he would always be there, even when others weren't and Anna felt complete. She smiled at him, knowing he could see how happy his words made her. Then he repeated that he loved her, using almost the same words she did and Anna grinned. All she knew was that she loved being in his arms, loved spending time with him like this, just the two of them.
She laughed when Oscar made a face at her before he leaned forward to kiss her. Anna was still curious; what would surprise her about a kiss. Then she felt his mouth open against hers as he kissed her and she instinctively decided to follow his lead, though she didn't know what she was doing. That was alright though because Oscar knew. He knew that she was a novice and he didn't care. He loved her. She could hardly believe that one small action like that changed kissing so completely, but it did. When they eventually pulled apart, Anna was gasping for breath as she smiled at Oscar. "What was that for?" she teased, not really knowing what to say to him now.
