The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley We can live like Jack and Sally if we want * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Hermione had called up her sister-in-law earlier this week and she had scheduled time in her day today to meet up with her for lunch. It seemed that since their children were growing and no longer needed constant attention, they had seen less of each other lately, which Hermione hated. She had gotten really really close with Ginny, especially after the war ended and she was spending all of her time at the Burrow. But now Rose and Hugo were almost all grown up, as were the Potter children, and with being named the Head of the Department, she had a lot of work on her plate.
So when she woke up this morning, she pulled on an olive-colored dress and some cute heels, though she had no time for her hair today. It was just being unreasonable. She headed off to work with a briefcase in one hand and a latte in the other, and she ran her hand through her raggedy, curly mop as she realized that she might actually be late. The floo network was down for the week due to maintenance however, so she had to take the public entrance. It wasn't that far away, but it still was enough of a hike that she feared lateness, which wouldn't look good on her part.
She worked feverishly all morning, taking OWLs from other members in her department and delegating tasks for the other employees, but it wasn't until she looked at her clock that she cursed under breath and rushed out the door, locking it behind her. She reached the Leaky Cauldron just in time for her appointment meeting up with Ginny and she let out a sigh of relief and walked in. Not seeing her in the immediate area, she sat at a nearby table and took a few moment to compose her anxiety before an employee walked up and she ordered a tea while she waited.

Ginny had been awake for several hours, seeing Harry off to work and attempting make him breakfast. The morning just turned into a happy disaster however when the happy couple got too involved with their morning kissing routine and the toast burnt. Harry didn't have time to wait for a new batch of toast, so he had to leave home breakfastless. Ginny felt bad about that, but at least they had got some good snogging in before a long work day. The hours apart from him were agony, as she just wanted him in her arms all the time.
She was relieved, however, that this was the day she was going to have lunch with her dear friend and sister in law, Hermione. Oh, Hermione. The sweet muggle born girl had been there for her when Ginny thought Harry would never be interested, back in their school days. Hermione had helped Ginny get over him, only for Harry to be interested a little while later. Ginny chuckled at the memory as she got dressed in a navy blue shirt and black slacks. She hadn't been out of the house for anything other than a quidditch game in weeks, she liked having the excuse to put on some nicer clothes.
Ginny arrived at the Leaky Cauldron early, being incredibly excited about the lunch date. Soon, however, she had to use the restroom and left. When she came back into the main pub, Hermione was sitting at a little table looking darling in her heels with tea. Ginny smiled widely and crossed over to her, reaching behind Hermione to give her a hug. "Hermione! It is so lovely to see you!" Ginny gave Hermione another quick squeeze before making her way around the table and sitting across from her sister in law.
"How are you? How's Ron? Hugo? Rose? I don't hear much from them at school, and my kids are really great at writing letters," she was being sarcastic of course, only Lily was any good at staying in contact with her mother. Ginny didn't judge them, however, her last three years at Hogwarts were the craziest years of her life. What with Harry finally noticing her romantically in her fifth, and leaving to save the world in her seventh. She had, however, received a distressed letter from James referring to the dead first year he found on the train. Ginny shivered at the thought.

Hermione sipped her tea when Ginny walked up and Hermione smiled brightly, trying to move some of the hair out of her face. She leaned into the hug when it was offered. One thing she learned was that all the Weasley's are buggy people, especially Ron and his mother. Hermione had to learn quickly to accept the endearment as a loving gesture, even though she wasn't the huggiest person. She smiled though and squeezed Ginny as she received the hug. "Hermione! It is so lovely to see you!" As Ginny went to sit on the other side of the table, she responded, "It has been too long, Ginny, really." She fidgeted with her hair once more before sighing and giving up.
Ginny started right with the questions, as per usual. Ginny was usually the talker between the two of them, which Hermione was more than happy with. Hermione loved to hear the stories about the Potter kids. "How are you? How's Ron? Hugo? Rose? I don't hear much from them at school, and my kids are really great at writing letters," She smirked. "I'm great. I've been busy, what with the surprise promotion and all. Ron's been dealing with my additional responsibilities and stress. As far as Hugo and Rose... I have no clue. I'm lucky if I get an owl a month from them. They are just so busy, our children." She chuckled slightly and sipped her tea once more before the employee walked back up again. "Yes, I'll have a club sandwich on rye bread with no cheese and no pickle on the side please." She waited attentively for Ginny to order as well.
Once the employee left, she turned back to Ginny and smiled. Her turn, it was only fair. "What about you, sweetie? How's Harry? The boys? Lily?" She smiled and fidgeted with her fingertips. She just had so much on her mind, whether it was a meeting she had with a few members of Wizengamot later this afternoon, or the meat she forgot to pull out of the fridge to thaw for dinner. Oh well, take out again, she supposed.

Ginny couldn't help but laugh as Hermione fidgeted with her hair. Sure, Hermione had learned to manage it better during their later years at Hogwarts, but the wild mane still had a way of taking control over Hermiones mornings, Ginny was sure. "It has been too long, Ginny, really." Ginny couldn't agree more. She used to see her best friend/sister in law every day when she was younger, but all the kids and work got in the way and now they had to actually schedule to see each other, instead of just popping in. Ginny was always grateful to Hermione for attending some of her old Holyhead Harpies quidditch games in the past. She knew Hermione wasn't much for sports, which made the support mean even more.
Ginny clapped her hands together excitedly, "Oh my gosh, Hermione! Congratulations! Harry told me all about the promotion, I am so proud!" Ginny was quite upbeat when it came to the success of her friends and family. There was nothing more important to her than the happiness of those around her. It even trumped the importance of her own happiness. Hermione, Ron, Harry and Ginny had that trait in common. That is, the intense love and support for each other. Ginny nodded at the mention of her brother, "that blast-ended skrewts behind hasn't spoken to me in weeks due to that stress and responsibilities!" she joked. She loved her brother, even if he was a bumbling idiot most of the time.
She nodded vigorously at the mention of the busy kids, "tell me about it. James is far too into the girls for his own good that he's forgotten about the most important woman in his life, me" she chuckled as the employee approached them again. She listened to Hermiones order and smiled brightly at the worker, "Hello! I'd like some honey chamomile tea please, as well as a cucumber and cream sandwich. Make it as bulky as possible, please." Ginny winked. If there was one thing Ginny was used to live with all brothers and an amazing cook for a mother, it was that she never took meals lightly.
Ginny was pleased when Hermione began asking questions next, even if the answers were just as grim as Hermiones. "Oh, Harry. He has been... how was Ginny supposed to word it? Stressed? Miserable? Panicked? Distraught? "...tired. He often comes home in late hours of the night, as I'm sure Ron does as well, and barely gets any sleep." Maybe she had given too much information but Hermione was his best friend, and now the head of his department which he couldn't be more thrilled about. "The boys, as mentioned previously, are hooligans, she sighed along with a chuckle,"I think James is even more of a flirt than I was in school. Albus is always so mysterious, we barely speak to be honest."
Ginnys eyes lit up at the mention of her only daughter, her pride and joy, her precious baby. "My sweet Lily, always so loving and brilliant. She's excellent in potions, but I'm afraid she takes after her mother on the social front..." Ginny laughed and sat up proudly, "let's just say when she's upset she uses words like a.... drunken sailor? Is that what a muggle would say?" Ginny laughed again. She loved that girl more than anything on this earth. Well, maybe not more than Harry. Maybe.

Her hair was a nightmare really. She was trying to wean her hair off of the WonderWitch products as they were making her hair rather dry, and then her hair exploded with frizz and curls, back to its old ways from high school. She pulled it up in a bun for work often so she just didn't have to deal with it. But as she was running late this morning that wasn't an option. She was lucky that she got her morning tea. Ginny clapped her hands together and praised her for her promotion. "Oh my gosh, Hermione! Congratulations! Harry told me all about the promotion, I am so proud!" Hermione's cheeks flushed brightly and she let her hair fall to cover her face. "Oh really, it's nothing."
Ginny then began to talk about her children, and Hermione listened intently. tell me about it. James is far too into the girls for his own good that he's forgotten about the most important woman in his life, me.... Hello! I'd like some honey chamomile tea please, as well as a cucumber and cream sandwich. Make it as bulky as possible, please." She smiled. That girl could eat, just like her daughter. It was like it was engrained in the Weasley blood or something. "Oh, Harry. He has been....tired. He often comes home in late hours of the night, as I'm sure Ron does as well, and barely gets any sleep. The boys, as mentioned previously, are hooligans, I think James is even more of a flirt than I was in school. Albus is always so mysterious, we barely speak to be honest." She smiled listening to everything that she was saying. "Al always has been a little mystery, the quiet boy. and James, just like his father, you know." She rolled her eyes, slightly teasing Harry when she said that. She sipped her tea and looked about, seeing that there weren't many people around. "You know I think that Harry has some vacation time or something. I'm sure you two could go on holiday while the children are in school." She suggest. Perhaps it would help with all of the auror work and stress.
"My sweet Lily, always so loving and brilliant. She's excellent in potions, but I'm afraid she takes after her mother on the social front... let's just say when she's upset she uses words like a.... drunken sailor? Is that what a muggle would say?" Hermione smiled knowingly. "Yes, that is the muggle phrase. And sounds like her mother, that one. Always got a bit of a temper." The employee returned with the food and Hermione nodded in acknowledgment, and waited a moment before picking up her sandwich and taking a bite of it. She covered her mouth so that she could talk with her mouth full for a moment. "My Rosie is also doing well. She made co-captain of the Charms club this year." She beamed slightly. She was so proud of her daughter.

Ginny scoffed, "Oh stop being so humble, Hermione. You have the right to gloat a little. Especially since you deserved this promotion more than anyone, really." Harry could have done the job, sure. But he was nowhere near as organized as Hermione. He was a good leader, but Hermione had a way of disciplining and controlling hectic situations that Harry couldn't even begin to fathom. Ginny knew, for she had seen the aftermath of a weekend she spent in Bulgaria for some Quidditch matches and left Harry with the three kids. She smiled at the memory, that was a disaster.
Ginny nodded, "he gets that from... well, I have no idea where he gets that! But James," she sighed, shaking her head though her smile still remained in place, "James is quite a lot like Harry, put possibly even more of a troublemaker, if that is even possible." She laughed. Hermione knew more than anyone, save Ron, of the trouble Harry got into at school. She also knew most of it wasn't his fault, but occasionally he did go looking for the trouble himself. Ginny sighed when Hermione mentioned the vacation time, however. "I wish. With all the murders going on, and the silly muggleborn and halfblood haters, Harry is very deeply ingrained in his work right now." Ginny was glad he cared so much, but a break from the tiresome and stressful life of the law enforcement would be nice.
Ginny laughed loudly, "that is quite right, and proud of it!" Ginny remarked, regarding the temper spoken of. Ginny was distracted for a moment by the delicious bulky sandwich that was placed in front of her. She thanked the employee and rubbed her hands together before picking up the sandwich and taking a large bite. She listened to Hermione beam about her daughter and nodded happily, "That is lovely news! My dear Lily just joined the potions club actually, she claims James said it would help her make friends." She laughed.

"Oh stop being so humble, Hermione. You have the right to gloat a little. Especially since you deserved this promotion more than anyone, really." This was why she loved Ginny. Whereas Ron would tell her that she was being a bit arrogant about her promotion, Ginny would help her flaunt her promotion, which always made Hermione feel good. "I suppose I could gloat a little. Yay me!" She smiled and then laughed lightly, playing with her hair as she laughed. Ginny always made her feel like herself after a day of paperwork made her feel like an adult. Sometimes she forgot how long it had been since they got out Hogwarts when she was around Ginny.
"he gets that from... well, I have no idea where he gets that! But James... James is quite a lot like Harry, put possibly even more of a troublemaker, if that is even possible." Hermione rolled her eyes and smiled before picking up her teacup and taking another drink of her tea. Of course she knew how much trouble Harry got into as they were best friends growing up. It seemed as if the only time she saw Harry nowadays is if he ended up in her office looking for more assignments. "Yeah, If James is like Harry, I think we're all in trouble." She smirked and took another bite of her sandwich. "I wish. With all the murders going on, and the silly muggleborn and halfblood haters, Harry is very deeply ingrained in his work right now." It was at this moment that Hermione stopped, mid-bite and took a hard swallow of what she was eating. She knew full well about what was going on. It was all her department would talk about these days.
"That is lovely news! My dear Lily just joined the potions club actually, she claims James said it would help her make friends." Hermione smiled. She didn't join any clubs in her years at Hogwarts, with the exception of the Slug Club and that was really an invitation only thing. "I am so terrified that our children are going to be adults soon. That's worthy of being terrified, right?"

Ginny clapped her hands together along with Hermiones gloating. "See!? That's what I'm talking about, girl," Ginny laughed and smiled even more, "not of that humble to a tee nonsense that Harry tries to pull off," she leaned forward and lowered her voice, "and if Ron is telling you anything about not being proud, he's one to talk." She rolled her eyes. Her brother always was... a bit off a goof off and not too bright. Whenever he actually did succeed at something he gloated more than anyone that Ginny knew. If he was giving Hermione any crap, she needn't listen to that.
Ginny shook her head and widened her eyes as she took another sip of tea. James was quite the boy, and of course Ginny loved him, even though he was the main source of her worry when it came to her children. Ginny set her tea cup down and licked her lips after Hermiones comment. "Well, I guess the world could do with another Harry Potter around." Ginny shrugged and then laughed, "but the kids at Hogwarts sure have a lot to worry about with James running around, I hear he's even more of a prankster than Fred and George were. Wait, no. That's definitely not possible." Even if James was great at pranking, Ginny couldn't disgrace her deceased brother by giving away his title.
Ginny shook her head at the thought of the children becoming adults. "Adults... what is Rose looking into doing anyway? I don't think Joe has even considered what he's doing after graduation. The thought of them running out in society and taking care of themselves.." Ginny shivered, "let's just say I'd only trust Lily out like that."
