"read this page" he said, turning a page of the book they had open on the table before them, koda leaned his arms down on the table as he waited for ophelia to read it. he'd ask her some questions about what was in the passage after she had finished. that's the best way he had learned. his father had sat with him and asked him questions he had to answer. he found that often he got them wrong the first time but once he'd gotten them right he didn't often forget them. the book they were reading was about magical illnesses. there was a variety of them but thankfully due to the advancments in modern magical medicine and spell work they were slowly getting easier to treat. "have you read it?" he asked her, not able to help himself, he reached out to brush some hair back off her cheek and tuck it behind her ear.

Ophelia let out a frustrated sigh; the blown air made a strand of her long brown hair fly up and in front of her face. She had been sitting at this table for an hour trying to study magical illnesses, but some of it simply was not sticking. Sure, studying with Koda had helped her retain more information about Healing than any of her time at Hogwarts had, but there were some...methods that simply would not have been appropriate for teachers to use for students. “I’ve read it,” she said, not helping but giving a small smile as he brushed the stray hair behind her ear. “I’m just not sure what’s going to stick,” she said, rubbing her eyes and letting her forehead rest in her hands for a moment. “Does spattergroit even really exist anymore?” she asked. She hadn’t heard of any recent cases of the magical ailment at Saint Mungos; the last time anyone had really heard about it was in 1997 with Ron Weasley, but of course everyone knew now that it had been a ghoul charmed to resemble the Gryffindor to fool the Death Eaters.

“I’ve read it, I’m just not sure what’s going to stick,” he chuckled as he brushed his knuckle over her cheek and he smiled at her. he had faith that she'd be able to remember. he knew it was a whole lot to remember but so long as she remembered that there was always time to learn. he was still learning about new things and so were the people he worked with. it was all about growth. “Does spattergroit even really exist anymore?” he nodded. he had only seen one case of it and it had been while he'd been visiting a hospital in another country but it was still around. very rare but still around. "on occasion it makes an appearance. tell me the symptoms of it?" he said with a smile, rubbing his hand over her shoulders lightly as he leaned closer to her.

Ophelia puffed out her cheeks and sighed again. She closed her eyes and concentrated on what she had just read. Spattergroit....symptoms....spattergroit symptons. She knew this, she had just read it! She just had to remember. "The symptoms of spattergroit are....Inabillity to talk.......Purple pustules growing in the victim's face...and.....Unusual fatigue?" she recited, opening one eye and looking over at Koda hopefully. "Did I get it right?" she asked, holding her breath in anticipation. "Oh I missed something didn't I? What did I miss?" she stumbled out nervously.

"The symptoms of spattergroit are....Inabillity to talk.......Purple pustules growing in the victim's face...and.....Unusual fatigue?" he nodded slightly as she listed the main symptoms of it. in all cases that had been reported there had been differences in each individual. but that was like any illness. everyone's body fought differently and could respond differently to what was happening to it. "Did I get it right? Oh I missed something didn't I? What did I miss?" he shook his head and leaned in to her to kiss her lips to stop her talking. after a few seconds he pulled back but kept his face close to hers. "you didn't forget any of them. they were it. just remember that in the cerebrumous spattergroit strain, memory loss and confusion are big indicators too" he said as he smiled at her. "you got it. see? told you you could do this" he said as he leaned forward to kiss her again, wanting more than the little taste he had gotten in the last moment.

Ophelia was momentarily caught off guard as Koda leaned in and kissed her to stop her from talking. She had gotten it right! She was so proud of herself; the studying really was paying off. And the reward wasn’t so bad either. “Cerebrumous Spattergroit, got it,” she said with a small smile. She leaned in as he did to kiss him again, and scooted herself into his lap. “Do I get study breaks?” she asked with a cheeky wink. One benefit to studying with Koda was of course doing things that involved little to no clothing. But she needed to learn more than just spattergoit symptoms of course before she felt she deserved that little reward. “How many questions do I need to get right before I get my study break?” she asked him, draping her arms around his shoulders.

“Do I get study breaks?” he wrapped his arms around her waist when she scooted into his lap and he tilted his head. he pretended to think. he could let her have one now. he wasn't sure he wanted her to get off his lap anytime soon. “How many questions do I need to get right before I get my study break?” he grinned at her and straightened a little, pulling her against his chest with an easy push on her back and he smirked slightly. "you already answered the question. you can have a break now" he said as he used his hand to push the books of his kitchen table and he moved to lift her onto the table, crushing his mouth against hers as he gripped his hand into her back gently.

Ophelia was going to protest, really she was. She’d only gotten one right after all. But when Koda pushed the books off the table and kissed her like that, any protest was driven far from her mind. She wrapped her legs around his waist as her fingers went to undo his pants…
And we fade to black.
Ophelia gave a little giggle and pulled her now sweaty hair into a ponytail. “Okay, let’s try and get through more than one correct response before doing that again,” she said, leaning forward and kissing him. “Though all of this is good exercise, I feel like I’m gaining weight,” she said, pouting slightly as she slid her sweatpants back on and sat down in the chair again. It hadn’t been too much of a weight gain of course, but enough for Ophelia to notice and not like it. “Okay, what’s next?” she asked him.

“Okay, let’s try and get through more than one correct response before doing that again,” when had this turned into her being the one telling them when to study. when had he become the sex hungry .. oh yeah. he chuckled a little and shook his head as he settled back into his chair at the table. he had left his shirt and jeans strewn over the floor, not bothering to put them back on. there was a hundred percent chance they would be doing that again in the near future so he didn't want to waste time. "if we must" he teased as he leaned over to kiss her back, he nipped her lip slightly as they broke apart, a devilish twinkle in his eye. “Though all of this is good exercise, I feel like I’m gaining weight,” he rolled his eyes and looked at her. he didn't care. he hadn't noticed it but he wouldn't care if she had. he shook his head and reached his arm around her waist as she sat down, pulling himself closer on the chair he was on and he grinned a little, moving to pat his hand against her stomach. "well that's okay, i'll keep you anyway" he teased her as he kissed the side of her head and looked back at the books. "dragon pox .. ironic."

Ophelia made a face at Koda when he made no move to put any clothing on. “You’re being more of a distraction than a help,” she teased, gently resting her hand on his bare knee. If he was going to put it out there, Ophelia couldn’t exactly help herself sometimes. She gave a soft groan of protest as he leaned in to kiss her. “You’re the devil,” she muttered as he patted her stomach and joked he’d still keep her. “Glad to know I mean so much to you,” she said, leaning over and nipping his ear lightly.
“Dragonpox is good because we just had that outbreak,” she reasoned, leaning forward to read the page. She felt more confident in this one, mainly because the Healers hadn’t stopped talking about it over the past few weeks. “Okay, ask me something,” she said after a moment, turning the book towards Koda and smiling brightly. She only hesitated for a second before scooting up and sitting down in his lap, legs dangling over the side of the chair.

“You’re the devil, Glad to know I mean so much to you,” he laughed and kept his arm wrapped around her middle. "eh, you mean a little bit" he teased her as he kissed his lips to her neck below her ear as she looked over the book to read some more about dragonpox. “Dragonpox is good because we just had that outbreak,” he nodded a little. it had been one of the things she had warned him about when he had run into her at the hospital a little while back. of course he'd known about it, he worked on the ward where the sick people were and he was treating them still. “Okay, ask me something,” he grinned as she shifted onto his lap and he wrapped his other arm around her, his thumb working to massage slow circles into the top of her hip as he rested his chin against her shoulder and thought about what to ask her. "at what point does a patient start sneezing fire?"

Ophelia closed her eyes and gave a happy little sigh as Koda kissed her neck. “Stop it you’re distracting me,” she said, pushing his face away with her hand and grinning at him. To be fair, she wasn’t helping by sitting in his lap. She leaned her head towards his almost subconsciously as he massaged her hip. He always seemed to know how to make her feel good. “It depends on the severity of the case. Usually it’ll manifest within the first twenty-four hours, but if you’re unlucky it’ll manifest in the first hour and could potentially be one of the first symptoms,” she said, closing her eyes as he continued to rub his thumb in slow circles. “It’s getting a little hot in here, isn’t it?” she said softly, unzipping her hoodie and shrugging it off, letting it land in a soft pile on the floor.

"how often is it fatal to those who catch it?" he asked as he shifted slightly as she started to complain about it being hot. “It’s getting a little hot in here, isn’t it?” he chuckled and shook his head a little as he moved to wrap his arms around her waist as she dropped the jacket on the floor and he nipped at her shoulder, the fabric of her shirt between his teeth and her skin. "well i did wonder why you were getting dressed again" he teased as he slipped his hand under the front of her shirt and traced a pattern just below the line of her bra as he hugged her closer against his chest. "if you take the rest of your clothes you'll be cooler" he said with a smile as he looked at her from her shoulder.

Ophelia drew a sharp intake of breath in at Koda’s touch. He really was the devil. “I put them back on because you don’t know what self control is,” she teased him, running one of her hands through his hair and smiling. “So, dragonpox used to be quite fatal before Grunhilda of Gorsemoor showed up and created a cure. Still there are cases of fatality, especially if the patient is older. There were at least four known deaths from dragonpox in the 20th century including Harry Potter’s grandparents, so I’d say it has about a five percent fatality rate right now,” she recited. As she was speaking, she moved herself so that she had one leg on either side of Koda’s body, straddling him in the chair. With a small smile on her lips, she draped her arms over his shoulders and scooted herself as close as possible. “How did I do, professor?” she asked him cheekily.

How did I do, professor?” he hummed his approval softly as he leaned his head down toward her neck, pressing her lips against her skin as he rubbed his free hand down her back, resting it in the small just above her waist and he pulled her closer. "time for a break .." he mumbled as he nuzzled his nose under her ear.
