So far Jade was quite enjoying the UK. It'd definitely been the right decision, even with the plummeting temperatures. From what she could tell her new team was pretty impressive. There were fantastic night clubs, and fantastic men that made for fantastic nights. Well.... More like fantastic man. She didn't even know his last name, to be honest. But they'd hit it off immediately and things had progressed farther that night then she'd thought they would. She didn't regret it though. Not one bit.
Now, a week later, and she was finally adjusted to the new elevation and climate. Well, adjusted enough that she was able to fly and play normally. She'd had to take it easy during training as her body adjusted. Today though. Today she'd been given the green light to stop holding back. So, Dakoda had invited another professional Quidditch player, apparently the Captain of their rival team, to... Well, train with her? She wasn't quite sure. All she knew was that she needed to learn some of the more common plays in the European league, and apparently this was the guy to go to.
So, here she was, waiting for this nameless Quidditch Captain and chaser to come at the deserted Quidditch pitch. The sun was thankfully out today, the first time in a few days, so Jade laid down on the grass, eyes closed as those rays of sun hit her face. It felt like it'd been forever since she'd seen the sun! She'd left her broom on the grass a few feet away as she relaxed, not at all concerned about the professional image this would make on this nameless player when they finally arrived.
Jade didn't stir when footsteps approached. Eyes still closed. Hell, she didn't even hear the person approaching.

Wes had begrudgingly agreed to help Koda train his new recruit; a Chaser like himself. Normally he would not agree to help a rival teammate, but Koda was one of his good friends and he’d get to see what this newbie could do before they played each other in a match. Everyone was aware that Wes was one of, if not the best tactician in the Quidditch League of Britain and Ireland; he would not give up his secret tactics of course, but according to Dakota this new recruit was not familiar with basic formations of their league. He could at least help her out with that; the last thing anyone wanted was a near-fatal injury.
He arrived, wearing his Wimbourne Wasps robes and clutching his broomstick in hand, the Quaffle tucked under his arm. It was a beautiful day, unusual for England. Perfect though; they could get used to an unusual weather condition first. It would also make it easier to go over basic moves without the rain dampering training. As he approached the pitch, he saw a figure lying down on the ground. He frowned; maybe this was a foreign way to mentally prepare oneself for practice. He got closer, and stopped in his tracks when he saw just who Dakota Wulfe’s new recruit was. “Jade?” he asked incredulously. Well this was something Koda conveniently forgot to mention.

Well, that wasn't a voice she was expecting.
Okay, to be honest, she didn't know what she was expecting. But she didn't think she'd recognize the voice. Really recognize it. Especially the way her name sounded when he said it. Her eyes slowly opened as she stared up at the sky. before she finally sat up, and looked at him. Wes. Genuine surprise was written all over her face. Was this just an odd coincidence or was Wes the captain she was meeting? Well, considering the uniform, broom and Quaffle in hand she was pretty dang sure this wasn't a coincidence.
Jade slowly started to smile, which turned into a grin, and then laughter. She was positive Dakoda knew what had happened between them, or at least had an idea. No wonder he hadn't given her a name. He didn't need to, she'd recognize him on sight. "'ey Wes." She greeted cheerfully from her spot on the grass when she finally stopped laughing, but was still grinning ear to ear.

Well, she was laughing and not trying to attack him. Not that Wes was expecting anger; Jade didn’t seem to be the type to get angry quickly. She was fiesty and fiery sure, but those were different from angry. The laughter was contagious and suddenly Wes found himself laughing alongside of Jade. They just stayed there, her sitting and him standing, laughing for a few minutes. “Oh man...I’m going to kill Koda,” he said, wiping a tear of mirth from his eye. “He totally knew what he was doing, inviting you to my birthday, you realize that right?” he told her with a small smirk. He had really loved the way that night ended, that was for sure.
Wes cleared his throat; he was there for a purpose after all. “Right, so I am here because Koda asked me to help train you in formations popular with the British and Irish league so that you become familiar with them. I’m realizing now that he probably would hold introducing us in the first place over my head if I had refused, but I am also the best strategist in the league,” he said, not caring if he sounded like he was bragging a little. He was the most skilled strategist in the league; it wasn’t something only he thought or knew. It had been why he was recruited to the Wasps, and why they had gone from the bottom of the league to close to the top. “Do you know of any of the moves?” he asked her, all business now.

Well, at least she wasn't the only one that thought this whole thing was hilarious! Wes' own laughter was only a few seconds behind her own. Finally though, they both managed to compose themselves, but Jade was still grinning like a fool. Just, what were the chances? Actually, this whole thing might have been planned from the beginning. "Well, I'm no' complainin'. Even if 'e did pull one on us." She retorted with a shrug. Hey, she wouldn't change that night. At all. And at least now it meant that she was going to be working with someone she knew, and liked. It would have been a pretty long afternoon if she'd ended up not liking the guy teaching her about the European leagues.
Jade sighed as he suddenly switched to all business though. After a moment, she finally rolled to her feet, stretching her arms high over her head and yawning. She wasn't much of a strategist. Or a plays person. Never had been. Both were flaws that most thought would disqualify her from being a Professional Quidditch player. Because it meant she didn't follow plans, or orders well. Most people didn't realize though that what she was good at drove most strategists crazy. Because it was hard to plan a good defense against someone that didn't know what they were going to do until a moment before doing it. "Nope." Was her immediate response to his question of knowing any of the formations. Hell, she didn't even hesitate, and didn't sound ashamed about it at all. She scooped up her broom from the grass and swung it over her shoulders. "Koda gave mi a playbook, bu' I 'aven' read i' ye'." She added with a shrug, as if totally unconcerned.

Wes inclined his head towards Jade and gave her a quick wink. “I’m not complaining here either; in fact I’d rather like to thank him,” he joked, laughing a little. He could see her fidget a little as he switched into captain mode; she must be like one of those wild horses he’d heard about, running through forests without a care in the world. “Well, Koda would not have asked me here to help if he didn’t think you needed to learn some of the playbook,” he reasoned, pulling his own copy out of his bag. His copy had dozens of sticky notes sticking out at the top and side, from his notes on different plays, ideas he had while reading, to whatever else struck his interest. “Let’s start with the Hawkshead Formation,” he said, opening to the page in question and flipping it around to show it at her. “It’s when two chasers flank the one with the Quaffle in a tight formation, the Quaffle holder just slightly in front.” He set the book down and kicked off into the air. The usual feeling of pure elation filled his heart as the wind whipped his robes around his ankles. He turned around in the air, casually tossing the Quaffle up and catching it. “Come on slow poke,” he called, teasingly.

Jade saw the wink and grinned. Despite the obvious awkwardness of the whole situation, and that awkwardness being Jade sleeping with a rival Quidditch Team's captain, he seemed unaffected. IT was good. She didn't want things to be awkward between them. Hell, even knowing who he was she still wanted to get to know him better.
He was right to assume his going all 'captain' on her made her squirm a bit. Listening and following direction had never been a strength of hers. He was also right to assume she was a 'wild horse'. In the American league she'd been known for being completely unpredictable, and it was that trait that had landed her the spot on the Arrows. Obviously Wes hadn't been told about her expertise. She could imagine what he was thinking though. What sort of Quidditch player didn't even know the plays and maneuvers?
The formation in general sounded simple enough, and was pretty similar to something she'd done a few times with an old team mate but they hadn't had a name for it. Or if they had, she'd never bothered to learn it. She shrugged. "Simple enough." He was in the air faster then her, and she chuckled softly as he taunted her. Shrugging her broom off her shoulders she swung it around and kicked off the ground before she'd even situated herself. Zooming up into the air, she grinned. "Fine. I'll learn yur formations, bu' after ya play mi one-on-one. Deal?" If she had to learn these restrictive formations and plays, then she should at least get some time to play how she wanted.

Wes grinned as Jade joined him in the air. “Deal, though lets’ sweeten the prize a bit; winner of one on one gets a drink bought for them by the loser,” he added in with a chuckle. He could already tell that his and Jade’s style of playing Quidditch would be vastly different; Wes was a tactician, a strategist. His brain could make heads and tails of a crazy chart showing different formations and moves and immediately understand everything. Jade he had a feeling was a bit like a wild horse if how she did other things was any indication.
“Right, so Hawkshead formation is pretty simple, but it sounds like you’re in for more challenging formations, so let’s actually go with the Porksoff Ploy. It’s when one Chaser flies upwards at an accelerating speed, making the opposing teams Chasers follow them; then the Chaser suddenly throws the Quaffle down to their fellow Chaser, who is waiting for the pass. It clears more of a path for that second Chaser to take the shot.” His explanation finished, Wes shot upwards, Quaffle in hand. He climbed several feet before throwing the Quaffle down hard for Jade to catch.

Jade grinned as he added the part about the loser buying drinks. "Jus' one?" Jade would hold back, just a bit until they did play one-on-one. He didn't need to know just how unpredictable she was. Being the strategist he was, no doubt he'd come up with a plan. Not only that, it'd be fun to see his reaction. It always was, especially when she did something especially crazy. It was that trait that had gotten her the spot on the Arrows after all.
Wes was right to assume she'd be more interested in the second formation. Now that sounded like something she'd definitely do. "Da's more up mi alley." She stated as she rolled her shoulders and lazily moved into position as he zoomed upward. The quaffle came flying down towards her and Jade flew to meet it, caught it and grinned up at him. "Any more formations ya wan' ta teach mi?" She asked as she tossed the quafle up and down to lightly catch it each time.

Wes gave her a quick wink. “Start off with one, after that I can’t control whether or not drinks will be bought,” he said jokingly. It always started out as just one drink with them, but always seemed to get to the same point; several drinks and many layers of clothes on the floor. Not that Wes minded that in the slightest.
Jade performed admirably Wes had to admit; his Chasers would have to work hard in their matches against the Arrows. “Nice job,” he relented, and grinned when she asked what else he could show her. “There are some more moves, mostly used by more Eastern European teams due to their...outlandish tactics, but I’d like to see if you can pull it off,” Wes told her, then cleared his throat. “The Chelmondiston Charge is a Quidditch tactic, used score a goal. A Chaser in possession of the Quaffle stands up on top of their broomstick, and then leaps, thrusting the Quaffle in the direction of one of the three goalposts.” He looked at her, then gestured for her to begin as he flew over to the goalposts to Keep for the trial.
