@finn Beginning of November The day was so beautiful, she couldn't spend it indoors. There was a breeze that ruffled her hair and swept her jacket behind her, but it was just warm enough to invite a smile. Her healer had told her to stay off her feet as much as possible, a fact that her aching back was reminding her of. She pulled her jacket close of her beach ball of a belly and continued walking. A quick jaunt through the market couldn't hurt anything. Besides she was going crazy staying at home all the time. Madam Malkin's had some nice robes in the window, and Emma stopped to admire them. Hogwarts was having a Yule Ball on Christmas. How romantic would it be if she could go! She smiled to hersealf then frowned as she imagined trying to find a dress that would flatter her current shape. Perhaps not. She moved on to the next store, An ice cream shop. Perhaps she shouldn't have come, she could never turn down ice cream. She left the shop with a double scoup of chocolate chunk and was content to lick at it as she meandered down the way. The sun peaked out from behind the clouds and landed on her. She closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth. Then her eyes shot open. She dropped her ice cream cone, the decadent chocolate scoups squicking against the cobblestones, and grabbed the closet things she could. That happened to be a very handsom looking man, but she couldn't pay attention to that right now. With wide eyes she looked up at the stranger, holding her pregnant belly with her other hand. Something was wrong. "Help!" she told him, pleading in her eyes. OOC: Emma's due date has been changed from April to January

Finn was in Diagon Alley in desperate need of new dress robes; the Yule Ball was coming up at Hogwarts and the Ministry had decided to combine it with their Christmas party. Finn was pretty sure the last time he bought dress robes were during his fifth year, and he'd even grown several inches since then. So here he was, being fitted for a pair of midnight blue dress robes, being poked and prodded and wondering why on Earth he had allowed himself to go through with it. Then he saw a girl; not just a girl, but a girl with beautiful, long brown hair was looking in the window. He couldn't help but smile at her; she really was lovely.
Finishing up and paying for his robes, Finn stepped out into the sunlight. He checked his watch; he saw that he had enough time before he had to get back to Hogwarts. He slowed as he saw the girl again; now she had some ice cream and seemed to be enjoying it immensely. He smiled again and was wondering if he should say anything to her when her eyes flew open and her hands shot out to grab onto his arm. His look of bewilderment quickly turned to concern as he saw something he hadn't noticed before - her heavily pregnant belly. She must have been going into labor! "EVERYONE OUT OF THE WAY" Finn bellowed, gently putting an arm around the girls shoulders and making a path through the crowd of Diagon Alley. "It's okay, we'll get you to Saint Mungos, just don't forget to breathe!" he told her reassuringly, trying to ignore the panic rising in his throat.

@finn Emma wasn't exactly expecting the stranger to take to his new responsibility so quickly. But his arm wrapped around her and he began leading her through the crowd, taking control of the siuation. Despite her own growing panic, her baby shouldn't come for two more months! She glanced up at her handsome knight, admiring his confident air. Then he reminded her to breathe. She sucked in a breath, a much needed breath. Don't hold it. She clutched at her belly as she let him lead her through the crowd. Despite the urgency and terror of the situation, she found herself surprisingly calm. "Breathe, got it." she said, taking another deep breath. "I'm Emma, by the way. " she introduced, her voice much steadier than she would have guess, despite her strange sense of calm. Perhaps it was this stranger's arms around her, the way he made her feel safe. Secure. The way Declan used to make her feel. She pushed that thought violently out of her mind, focusing back on the handsome stranger.

Emma. What a pretty name. "I'm Finn...I'd shake your hand but I'd be concerned with you crushing it at the moment," Finn introduced, giving her shoulder a light squeeze as they burst through the Leaky Cauldron and into the sunlit sidewalks of Muggle London. "Right, so Saint Mungos is about what, ten blocks that way?" he said, pointing to the left. She was clutching her stomach; Finn had no idea how to deliver a child, but possibly Casey would. Trouble was, Casey was still recovering from dragon pox. Well, he was sure at least ONE of the Healers at Saint Mungos could deliver a baby if need be. "Okay, new plan," he said, and as though he'd done that a thousand times before (really, he hadn't) he gently swept his arm under her legs and cradled her in his arms. "Well I guess this is one way to meet someone," he joked, before getting back to the seriousness of the situation. He hurried through the crowds; luckily it was not rush hour and people seemed to realize the girl was pregnant so they mostly got out of their way. A few offered their help but Finn shook his head.
As they arrived in front of the abandoned department store, Finn cried out "She's having a baby!" Immediately one of the dummies crooked their finger and he hopped through the glass into the atrium. It must have triggered a Healer on call because immediately two wizards in lime green robes arrived and gently lifted Emma out of his arms. Before Finn could say anything, he was whisked away after her; he tried to stammer out that he wasn't the father, that he had met this girl just moments ago. But he felt like she couldn't be alone just then, so he stayed silent.

@finn The couple rushed through the crowded alley, people parting for them at her rescuer’s insistence. Finn. That was what a nice name. Finn and Emma. They fit nicely. She shook her head slightly, why was she thinking that way? It was probably the hormones. ”Well, they do say pregnancy makes women have super-human strength.” she teased back though there was a tightness to her voice. The tightness of his arm around her shoulders was a pleasant pressure that helped her relax. She kept walking, urged on by his hold, despite her growing pain. Her mind began to wander. Was her baby really going to come now? She hadn’t even picked a name yet! Not to mention she didn’t have any clothes, a crib, blankets… nothing! She was completely unprepared! Her calm began to break, spikes of fear coming in waves connected to the pain in her stomach. She didn’t hear Finn’s questions as her breathing began to increase, her fear gowing. Then he bent down, startling her. He was letting go! She started to panic, but was cut short. Instead of leaving her… he did the opposite and swept her off of her feet. Literally. Her eyes caught on his and Emma felt a dangerous feeling stirring in a deep, hidden place. No, this couldn’t happen. Finn deserved better than her, she knew that even though she didn’t know him. He got them into St. Mungo’s with just a few words and then two healers were whisking her away. They took her from his arms and she instinctively reached back for him. ”Finn!” she called. Her mind rebelled, telling her this man was just another stranger. But her heart told her differently. Thankfully the healers brought him with her down a series of hallways and into a room. A flurry of activity went on around her but as soon as she was settled in a bed, Emma searched for Finn, her hand reaching out for him before her eyes even locked onto his.

Finn wasn't’ sure if he should go with Emma; he had just met her after all and she was a complete stranger. She hadn’t gone to Hogwarts, he would definitely have remembered her face. But then she called out his name and he was drawn like an invisible magnet. “I’m here,” he called, as though that would reassure a pregnant woman possibly in labor. But at the very least, it reassured Finn. After she was settled into a bed, Finn immediately came and sat down next to her, taking the hand she was reaching out with. “Are you alright Emma? Do you have anyone I can send an owl to?” he asked her, his forehead creased with worry. Surely the baby’s father would be concerned, or a family member like one of her parents, or even a sibling. All people more qualified to be with Emma if she needed to deliver her baby other than Finn. He didn’t want to leave her side just yet though; she seemed scared and alone, and his chivalrous streak was stubbornly preventing him from moving.

@finn He came and sat down next to her, holding her hand. She grasped onto his, as if for dear life. She didn't have anyone else. At least not here. Karney was at work, Clo was acting strange recently, and Cullen was pretty busy with his shop. She didn't want to both anyone. Yes, they would all be upset if she had her baby and they didn't know but... She felt okay with just Finn there. So she shook her head at his question of the owl. Then turned her attention to her cramping stomach... It wasn't cramping anymore. She frowned as she let go of Finn's hand and propped herself up on her elbows. She felt fine. So she pushed herself up a little more, coming to a seated position on the bed. Better than fine, actually. She felt great. She swung her legs over the side and smiled at Finn. "I think... it was a false alarm." she said sheepishly as a healer rushed in to figure out why she was sitting up instead of laying down. As it turned out, she was right. It had been a false alarm. The healer told her that those happened often, but she should really be in bed. Her baby was pretty large and it would come sooner than wanted if she didn't take her bed rest seriously. Emma accepted this information with a sigh. Sitting in bed all day with no one to talk to? Talk about the worst!

Finn just tolerated the sharp pains in his hand as Emma gripped it tightly. He couldn’t compare the pain his hand was feeling to the pains of childbirth; his mother had frequently liked to remind him how painful his birth was that she never felt the need to have another child. After a few moments, Emma let go of his hand and swung her legs towards him. “Gone? False alarm?” he asked, sounding immensely relieved. This girl was very pretty, but if anything he’d like to take her out to dinner or something, not necessarily watch her go through labor and delivery.
Those thoughts were dashed though as the Healer ordered Emma to rest in bed. He could tell she was disappointed to. Finn frowned in thought, then an idea hit him. “You wait right here, I’ll be back before you can miss me," he told her, as if she could do anything else. He hurried out of the hospital and down the road to a food joint he frequented whenever Casey and he had coinciding lunch breaks. He quickly ordered everything on the menu to go and waited, slightly impatient for the food to cook and be packaged up. He thanked the waiter and paid for the food and dashed back to the hospital, skidding to a stop outside Emma’s room. “Thought you might be hungry,” he said, grinning widely.

@finn Emma was pretty certain that when Finn left, he wasn't coming back. To say she was pleasantly surprised to find he did, would have been an understatement. However she was working on keeping her composure, especially since he just saw her freak out over false alarm labor pains.... Plus he brought food. She pushed herself up on the bed, eyes wide and mouth watering. She found herself reaching for the bag even before he sat down. "How did you know I love these calzones?" she asked as she opened the bag and unwrapped the divine pocket of deliciousness and took a bite. She closed her eyes in euphoria. "I mean, colzohns our the besht." she said through her full mouth, nodding happily and glancing at him. She suddenly realized what she must look like and gulped her food down. "Oh my! I'm so sorry, do you want some?" she asked handing him a wrapped calzone, even as she eyed a bag that must have desert in it.

Finn was relieved that Emma confirmed how much she loved calzones. They were one of his favorites as well and they were very filling, something he was sure a pregnant girl could greatly appreciate. “I would yes, I did get four, so if you’d like three can be for you and I’ll take this one,” he said with a laugh, plucking out the sausage calzone he’d gotten for himself. He’d also gotten them several different desserts as he didn’t know what kind she’d fancy. She was clearly very happy with the calzone choice, but he could see her eyeing the dessert back too. Ah, a woman after his own heart. “Would you care to try this one though?” he asked, holding out the calzone. Normally he’d be a pain in the rear if someone else tried to reach for his food. With Emma though, it felt alright. Plus, she was eating for two people and needed the nourishment!
