Anna said that it wasn’t difficult to have favorite stars, and from the movement beside him, Oscar guessed that she was either shrugging to shaking her head. In any case, Anna added that her favorite stars were her favorite because they were the easiest to find. Oscar definitely couldn’t fault her for that; in a sky with so much to look at, choosing something easy to find as your favorite thing was probably for the better, else no one else could enjoy it with you. Anna pointed at three stars all in a row, and Oscar found them quite easily. The next three, the ones that made the hunter’s torso, were slightly harder for him to find. The club and shield also weren’t easy to see, but Oscar thought he got a sort of complete picture. “I think this is easier if you have a good imagination.” Oscar said when Anna asked if she had confused him enough yet. “I do not have much of one.” He admitted. His mind was better designed at piecing together stories like puzzles, not creating stories, or pictures, as the case would be, out of thin air. Stars were just points of light, so how people had found pictures in them was beyond Oscar. He wasn’t that great at connect the dots. “Another?” Oscar asked after a moment. He wasn’t good at this, but it was still interesting, and Anna seemed to like it.

Oscar was very quiet as she showed him Orion and she couldn't help but smile, wondering what he thought about the whole thing. Then he commented that it was easier if one had a good imagination. She laughed, "Honestly, I mostly just look for the three stars that make up Orion's Belt. They're normally really easy to spot and almost always there and I just ... like them. I don't really know why." Hopefully that made sense to him. Really, looking at the stars was something that Anna enjoyed as a child. She found it peaceful and loved that she knew more about them now. "I think your imagination is just fine," she told him, squeezing his hand once more. Then she smiled as she focused on the stars again, "Do you know the Little Dipper?" Anna asked. She waited just a moment before continuing, "See that star? The brightest one up there?" She pointed to the North Star. "That's the north star and it makes the edge of the handle on the Little Dipper. See?" Instead of trying to describe these stars to Oscar, she pointed, showing him the general outline in the sky and hoping that he could see the outline she was drawing and then find the stars to match it. "It looks like a ladle. You know, like one that you would use for soup?" Anna was trying to be helpful and not sound like she was treating him like an idiot. She laughed and decided to tease him a little, "Am I boring you yet?" She didn't think she was, but might as well ask. After all, Oscar might just be trying to be polite.

Anna admitted that she only looked for the three stars of Orion’s belt, and Oscar nodded. That seemed to be a lot less work than trying to find the whole constellation, and he was definitely on board if something required less work. She reiterated that she couldn’t explain why she liked them, and Oscar just shrugged again. If she didn’t want to explain it, she didn’t have to – she never had to justify herself to him. Wasn’t that what love was about? Oscar smiled a little when Anna said that she thought his imagination was just fine. “Have you ever actually seen me do anything imaginative?” He questioned her. All that he had done with her that was even vaguely artistic was write down a poem, and that was more about memorization than any actual talent on his part. Maybe the crepes could be counted as imaginative, but again, that was memorization of a recipe, not a new dish he had invented himself.
Anna began pointing out a new constellation, and Oscar turned his head so he was looking at her instead of looking upwards. “I only see one brightest star, and it is not in the sky.” Oscar whispered to Anna. It was cheesy, but Oscar found that he didn’t particularly care if he was overly sentimental with Anna. He turned his head back so he could peer at the stars that Anna was pointing out. He was glad that she had clarified what a ladle was, since that wasn’t a common vocabulary word by any standards. “I see it.” Oscar said after a moment of consideration. “I will tell you if I am bored, Anna.” Oscar said. He wiggled so he was closer to her, not even caring if it obscured his view of the sky. Oscar had to hide a yawn, lest Anna think he was lying to her about being bored, but continued to blink up at the starry canvas above them.

Anna's mouth opened in surprise when he asked if she'd ever seen him do something imaginative. "Yes!" She responded emphatically, though it took her a few seconds for her to think of something. "You were imaginative in our charms practice when you countered my attack by making my pillow explode," she said with a smile. She wasn't really sure if that made him imaginative, but she was going to say that it did. "You were imaginative when you set up the Room of Requirement before teaching me to dance," then she laughed a little, "And you're going to have to be imaginative to make it so I don't make a fool out of myself at the Yule Ball." She couldn't help but tease him.
As Anna was pointing up at the stars, she couldn't help but bite her lip when he implied that she was the brightest star. It was cheesy, but Anna liked it. She liked how he was always saying cute things to her. She smiled when he said that he could see the constellation. "See, you're being imaginative right now," she teased him as he scooted closer to her. "Well you might not be bored, but I don't know what else to show you. Those are my favorites," she told him, turning her head so she could look at him. "So what do we do now?" Anna could come up with something on her own, but she wanted to see what he would think of.

Apparently Anna had more examples of when Oscar was imaginative than he did. He was willing to argue a few of her points, but now didn’t seem like the time – Oscar was getting sleepy, and he tried to avoid arguing with Anna at all costs, especially since this actually wasn’t all that important. “I guess you are right.” Oscar said with a small smile. “I am a creative genius.” He said, taking the point further than Anna was probably willing to go when it came to his imagination skills. “And you will not mess up.” Oscar assured Anna when she mentioned the Yule Ball. They could probably have a second dance lesson sometime between now and the ball, one that wouldn’t be awkward or end up with confused feelings.
Oscar rolled his eyes when Anna said he was being imaginative at that moment. He hardly considered complimenting his girlfriend an act that required a lot of imagination – she was so beautiful that she all but complimented herself. Anna said she didn’t know what to do next, and Oscar couldn’t hold back his yawn any longer. “We should sleep.” He murmured. “It must have been very tiring, doing homework all day.” Oscar pointed out. And he was tired, too, so it would work out if they just fell asleep here, in their blanket cocoon, with their eyes on the stars.

Anna laughed when Oscar decided to accept her compliment. She thought she saw a bit of cynicism in his eyes, but he didn't say anything. She rolled her eyes, teasing him, "When are you going to realize that I'm almost always right?" she said with a wide grin. Of course, Anna knew that she made plenty of mistakes, but she wasn't saying that seriously so it was fine. Her smile fell just a touch when he said that she wouldn't mess up at the Yule Ball. "How can you be certain of that?" Anna asked after a minute. Did Oscar have a plan or was he just sure that she wouldn't do too horribly?
She laughed quietly when Oscar yawned and said they should sleep and that she must be tired from all the homework she did. Without really meaning to, she followed his example and yawned as well. "That does sound nice," she muttered as she scooted over so there was no more space between them and she ended up nudging his side with her own a little. Anna was surprised by how tired she was all of a sudden. She wanted to ask Oscar to wrap his arms around her, but she wasn't sure exactly how and figured she would wait a moment to see what he did. He had a tendency to do exactly what she wanted whether or not she asked him to. Maybe this time he would just sense what she wanted. If not, she'd have to find a way to ask him, which meant she'd probably be blunt and ask him outright. She was too tired to think of another way to ask.

Oscar rolled his eyes when Anna asked when he was going to realize that she was almost always right. “Maybe when you start actually almost always being right.” He teased, pulling her closer and kissing her temple so that she knew that he was just kidding with her. Oscar and Anna were fairly balanced about which one of them ended up being right, at least in Oscar’s opinion. “Anna.” Oscar said sternly when she asked about the Yule Ball. “When are you going to realize I’m almost always right?” He asked, breaking into peals of laughter after he finished speaking, echoing the exact words that she had just said. He wouldn’t be surprised if she parroted back his response to him, but that was besides the point.
“Let’s sleep, then.” Oscar said, yawning bigger and wrapping his arms around Anna so that they were as close together as two human bodies could possibly be. They were both tired, and they were both going to have a long month ahead of them before the winter holidays rolled around. It wouldn’t be bad to just…sleep.

Anna giggled when he teased her about being right and kissed her head. She loved how well he understood her and teased her back when she made fun of him. Oscar understood her in a way that few had previously, which was one of the things Anna adored about him. She looked up at him when he said her name, and then Anna started laughing with Oscar when he copied exactly what she said before. She smirked back up at him, positive that he was going to expect her to copy him and deciding to do just that. "Oh you know, when you start almost always being right," she told him with a small shrug of her shoulders. It didn't matter if she was predictable with him, Oscar wouldn't care.
Anna smiled to herself when Oscar wrapped his arms around her and held her close to him. It felt so warm and comfortable and natural. Despite the excitement that always consumed her when she spent time with Oscar, Anna found herself able to relax in his arms. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, enjoying the way he smelled, though she couldn't pinpoint the scents at the moment. He was right; she was tired. "I love you," Anna mumbled softly before giving in to the urge to sleep.
Her dreams started out innocently enough. At first, she was on a walk with Oscar, holding hands with him as they laughed and talked. Then the dream shifted and Anna found herself back in the maze. She started in the middle of the maze, swinging on a branch as she tried to jump over the beast- which she now knew was called an Erumpent- so she could continue on. She jumped and landed on the creature, sprawled away just like the maze, but that was when things started to get strange. As the Erumpent began to charge her, Anna heard the clicking of pincers before she felt something on her leg and found herself on the ground, a web tying her legs together. The Erumpent was still charging, but the Acromantulas were coming at her too. Anna was shooting spells between the two, hoping to get rid of something before they reached her. Then everything went black. She could still hear the creatures as they approached, but she was now blind. "No, no, no, no, no," Anna muttered, shivering and shuddering as she thought she felt the ground shake as the Erumpent came closer and cringed when pincers started tearing at her clothes and skin. "Not again," she thought, completely forgetting that this was all a dream.

Oscar just shook his head when Anna repeated him repeating her. It was predictable, but he didn’t care. It was nice to have a little bit of predictability, especially since Anna wasn’t always that way. She was spontaneous a lot of the time, and that was nice, too. Life with Anna was never boring, and Oscar needed that. He needed the departure from the norm, because his norm was depressing, and he didn’t like to dwell on that. He preferred to dwell instead on how warm Anna was, and how comfortable he was despite the fact that they were lying on only a blanket over a stone floor. “I love you too.” Oscar managed to mumble sleepily before drifting off.
The interesting thing about sleeping with someone else was that you could feel when they moved in their sleep. And when Anna moved, Oscar woke up. It was a terrifying way to wake up, really, because Anna was repeating one word, over and over – no. “Anna?” Oscar asked, voice somewhere between urgent and frantic. He moved a little so he could shake Anna’s shoulder slightly. “Anna, wake up! It is just a dream!” His voice was barely above a whisper, but it was obvious that Oscar was, first and foremost, scared.

Anna normally wasn't a deep sleeper. In fact, she would wake up at the sound of someone else rolling over in their beds, but something about this dream didn't want to let her go. It wasn't until she felt herself shaking just a little bit and heard his beloved voice whispering her name that she was able to pull herself out, finally realizing that it was, in fact, just a dream. Her eyes opened and she looked at his face for a few seconds, still shivering an breathing shakily. "Oscar," she whispered before she moved to bury her face in his chest, sobbing despite herself. She didn't want to, not even a little bit, but she couldn't stop herself from crying. The dream was terrifying and probably even more so because it was so close to the reality of what had happened. "I'm sorry," she muttered against his chest, feeling guilty because she'd ruined their night together. It was so peaceful until her mind decided to go into overdrive.

Anna woke up, which was a relief, because Oscar didn’t want to have to wake her up in a more aggressive or less pleasant way. She said his name and Oscar nodded enthusiastically. She must have been really awake, otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to recognize him, right? Either that, or she was dreaming about him, which was a pleasant thought in the midst of a rather unpleasant situation. She apologized, which made the corners of Oscar’s lips turn down in a frown. It wasn’t like Anna could control the fact that she was having nightmares. If she could control her dreams, Oscar doubted that she would have chosen to make them such unpleasant ones. “There is nothing to be sorry for, mon amour.” Oscar assured Anna, he squeezed her tighter to him for a moment before releasing the pressure. “I am here.” And that didn’t make everything alright, but Oscar hoped that it at least made things better.

The fact that he held her tighter when she apologized made Anna feel so much better about having a nightmare in the middle of their relaxing time together. Of course, if their situations had been switched, Anna wouldn't care at all. She would just want to help him, so she hoped that was how he was feeling. "Thank you," she muttered, holding onto him tightly. Really, she knew that him being there didn't physically change anything and it wasn't like he could stop her from having these bad dreams, but just having his arms around her helped her feel better. She sighed, relaxing in his arms and feeling the tension leave her after a while. She thought about saying something, explaining what happened, but he wasn't asking questions and it was so nice to just sit there with him quietly. So Anna just let it happen.
"Do we need to go back?" Anna asked after a while, even though she hoped he would say no. It was probably about time for curfew and she didn't want to make Oscar late, but she also didn't want to leave. It was a common problem for her. Anna just enjoyed being with him and didn't ever want to end their time together. But she knew that wasn't a possibility. Besides, if they were always together, they would probably end up fighting or something and Anna definitely did not want that.

Oscar nodded, though his head barely moved, when Anna thanked him for being there. Of course he was going to be there – that was what people did when they loved someone. They were there, even when that wasn’t the easiest thing to do. Oscar just waited for Anna to relax from the nightmare. He didn’t know how long it was before she was okay again, but after a time, Oscar could sense that she was okay.
Anna asked if they needed to go back, and Oscar hesitated. “We do not need to do anything.” He began, hoping that no matter what he said next Anna wouldn’t feel pressured to do what he suggested. “But it might be easier for you to sleep in your own bed.” He suggested gently. He couldn’t go there with her because of the enchantments on the Gryffindor tower, but he still did think that Anna would sleep better in a bed without him than on a floor with him.

Oscar said that they didn't have to go, but that it would be easier to sleep in her own bed and Anna knew that he was right. Not that being comfortable would make her dreams be any nicer, but comfort was important when one was sleeping. Besides, he was probably uncomfortable trying to sleep here on the floor. "Then we should both go to our beds," she said after a moment. She pulled away from him and moved to stand, grabbing his hand once he was beside her. Together they walked back to the Gryffindor tower in silence. After they arrived, Anna turned to face Oscar for a moment. "I'll see you tomorrow at breakfast." Anna didn't make it a question, because it really wasn't one anymore. She spent most of her meals with him, after all. She stood up on her tiptoes and kissed Oscar's cheek gently. "Goodnight, Oscar." Anna walked away, realizing as she did so how tired she really was. Going to sleep was definitely a good idea. ---end--- @oscar
