Irina woke up in her bed in the Gryffindor Tower one Saturday towards the end of November with a thrilling feeling building in her chest. She sat up in bed and took a deep breath, smiling to herself. The air was crisp with a hint of a cold breeze in the air, which could only mean one thing. So she got out of bed and pulled her bathrobe on as she crossed over to the window. Snow. The first snowfall had come to Hogwarts, and the sight of it took her breath away. She knew that she had to go out in it; she didn't care if it was what little kids did or that she would be alone as the girls were all still sleeping. So she pulled on her warm sweater and winter boots and wrapped her Gryffindor scarf around her neck as she headed out of the Gryffindor Common Room and down the stairs. Pulling on her mittens, she reached out and pushed open the door. Again, Irina's breath was taken away, and she was glad to have been alone for a moment for she was speechless. Smiling widely, she jumped out into the few inches already on the ground, almost skipping towards the lake. Laughing out loud, she flopped onto the ground and made a snow angel. Standing up, she shook the snow out of her dark hair and looked out at the lake. The surface of the lake looked like a sheet of glass with powdered sugar coating it. Smiling softly, she became lost in her thoughts and didn't even hear someone else join her. @daniel

Dan always loved Winter and Spring equally, but Winter had a little bit of a closer place in his heart. For one, everyone was all bundled up and it was easier not to bump into people, that was nice for him. Also, it made the word look almost black and white and to Dan, that was beautiful. Plus it was often cold in Germany and even colder in Bulgaria, so he was used to it. They had brought their fur coats, of course, and as soon as Dan saw what was happening outside of the ship he was putting it on. He didn't really mind the cold, much, but he did like his coat. He decided he'd make Irina try it on. The thought made him chuckle. It was so heavy and large and she was so small, it may completely envelope her.
Speaking of Irina, he came out of the top of the ship to see her in the snow not too far away, making a snow angel. He just watched her for a moment, his smile growing wider the longer he did. He almost called her name, but he didn't want to interrupt. Plus, he had a pretty good view of the beautiful woman from here. She stood, shaking the snow out of her hair and looking toward the lake and he realized he should move on from his perfect vantage point in order to actually speak to the girl he loved.
He paused, though, considering what he'd just thought. 'Beautiful woman' and 'girl he loved' weren't exactly things he thought that he would be thinking about Irina Rose Krum, the sister of his best friend and someone he'd know his whole life. But being with her was like finding a missing piece, one that was there all along but he didn't know how to access it. It was like he'd been broken, but she put him back together.
He smiled and left the boat, slowly coming up behind her, not wanting to ruin her moment. But, alas, he couldn't keep his hands away for long and soon they were at her waist. "Cold, isn't it?"

Irina took a quick intake of breath as someone spoke, but she recognized the voice and her smile grew wider as his arms slid around her waist. "Mmm, a little bit," she agreed. She took the edges of his coat in her hands and wrapped herself inside along with him. "Getting warmer though," she said, tilting her head to the side to kiss him on the cheek. She snuggled in and sighed happily, the back of her head resting against his chest. She was silent, just soaking in the snow falling gently onto the lake; the image was picturesquely perfect. "It's so beautiful," she mused softly.
She turned around after a while, her arms sliding around his waist as she pulled herself closer. "I love you," she told him, standing on her toes to kiss him. Her foot moved slightly and she slipped a little. She shrieked as she pulled away and laughed, bumping her forehead to his chest. "The one and only pitfall of snow," she said, still giggling a little bit. She grabbed his hands with hers and started pulling him towards some of the deeper snow piles. "There's almost enough snow now for a snowman, or maybe a snow fort," she stated, her eyes glittering with excitement.

Dan felt her short moment of surprise and he grinned. Her emotions quickly shifted, and he settled into the happiness that he found there. It wasn't even hard to take her in his arms anymore, to even picture it. It was entirely normal for him now and he welcome it, wanted it, craved it. She commented as to how it was getting warmer and he chuckled, leaning down a little to accept the kiss on his cheek. She snuggled against him and he wrapped his arms all the way around her waist, holding her close to him. They stayed silent for a moment, until she commented on the beautiful view in front of them. He nodded, "it is. You fit right in," he kissed her cheek softly before she turned around, her taking his waist.
She said I love you, and he felt his entire body warm from the inside out. "And I love you, darling," he said softly, leaning forward to kiss her as she lifted herself toward his lips. Then she slipped and he caught her arm as she pulled away, frowning until she let out the laugh. "Awe, yes. The slipping is not preferred. Oh! Idea," he said as she started to pulling him toward the deeper parts of the snow, "we should build an igloo! Preferably somewhere more... private?" he chuckled, tugging back on her hand, his eyes pleading with her to come closer again. There was something about the snow... something about the clear sky, something about her blue eyes being the brightest color in the world right now.

Irina blushed a little as Dan said she fit right in with the beautiful scenery. "You're sweet," she told him, squeezing his hand. She never had a true boyfriend before, but she felt like she hit the jackpot with Dan. It was crazy - he was her brothers best friend after all! Dan had always been off limits, but now? The idea of them not being in a relationship seemed more foreign than being with him. And she wouldn't change a thing.
She raised an eyebrow at his suggestion, but smirked. "More private huh? Planning on doing something you don't want anyone else to see?" she asked, taking the few steps towards him slowly. She slid her hands up so they laced around his neck and pulled him into a deep kiss. She didn't care at that moment if anyone could see them, but the way her mind was starting to wander she wanted a little bit more of a seclusion. "Lead the way," she agreed softly, giving him a sly smile.

Dan was oddly used to being called sweet by now and that was something that was a little strange. Daniel Hoh. Being called sweet, and being used to it. It was like the world was imploding, for the impossible that happened, Dad had fallen in love, and he was more in tune with his emotions than ever, if that made any sense. One thing did make sense, though. She made sense. More than anything else.
She raised an eyebrow at his suggestion, but smirked, and that just made his smirk grow even more. Her words made him chuckle, and he accepted the kiss as she approached him, wrapping his own arms around her waist, pulling her as close as he possibly could in that moment. Wearing their winter clothes though... there was just so much darn fabric between them. That was irritating.
She suggested that he lead the way, and he nodded slipping his hand into hers, and pulling her along the edge of the lake. "Well, I think you know where I have in mind. Don't know if much snow would have gotten in there, but at least we have magic, don't we? We can build an igloo wherever we darn well please."

Irina smiled as Dan told her he had a place in mind. Of course she knew where he meant; the willow tree that overlooked the north side of the lake. It was incredibly private, but they could still watch the sun set or rise through the willow branches. And it didn't wither and lose its leaves over the winter months so the privacy was year round. Perfect for an igloo. "Should we build a snowman to stand guard?" she asked jokingly as they made their way towards the path. The snow was luckily soft with no footsteps to have crushed the snow into a slippery mess. She still held tightly to his hand, half out of carefulness to not slip, half because it felt natural to her now. She knew though if she slipped even for a second, he'd be there to catch her like always.
She pulled back the willow branches as they reached their destination; Dan was right there was hardly any snow on the ground underneath the tree. "Help me hold the branches back?" she asked him with a smile. She pulled out her wand and pointed it to the fresh mound of snow on the ground and levitated it to within the trees' circumference. A few more times, and the snow pile had grown sizable. "How much more do you think we need?" she asked him, glancing from the snow pile back to him.

It was still morning, but it was a Saturday, so Dan wasn't worried about them needing to get back for anything important. Except maybe meals. But, for now, they just had each other and that waas good enough. She mentioned the snowman to stand guard and he chuckled, shaking his head. "Nah, I'm sure we could just use some magical stuffs to do that," he said. They followed the path they'd followed several times before, holding onto each other in order not to sleep and stumbled just a little every few moments.
Soon, they arrived at the tree and Irina pulled back the branches in order for them to slip through. He reached up to help her with the branches as she asked and she pulled out her wand, piling up snow underneath their little hideout. At her question, he tilted his head to the side, "I think that should be enough, actually. Now, the question is," he started, stepping into the willows shelter and releasing the branches behind them, "are we building with magic or our hands?"

Irina nodded in agreement. "And maybe a fire if it gets cold," she pointed it out. They could keep each other warm of course, but a fire that didn't melt an igloo would be awfully cozy. "I think we should build by hand to start with, and then when our hands get too cold we can finish it up with magic?" she suggested. She knelt down on the ground and started building up one of the walls of the igloo, her hair falling in her face every so often. She'd just brush it behind her; she could have put it up but it actually looked good down right now so she wasn't going to ruin it by throwing it up in a ponytail. She knew Dan didn't care how her hair looked like and that he'd find her beautiful regardless, but she still liked the way it was looking right now.
Her hands grew numb as the wall reached chest level but she had a devilish plan that had been building since they started building the igloo. She had been very careful to keep her emotions in check as she stood up, brushing the dirt off her knees. "Okay, we should finish up with magic because I never get the top of an igloo right by hand," she decided, then smiled mischevously. She had the mound of snow in hand and all of a sudden she yelled out and flung the snow towards Dan. It was really just a fluff of snow, not hard and icy but soft and fluffy, but she was almost positive he wasn't expecting it.

Dan nodded as she suggested a fire. "I've got this fur coat, too. We could share it," he added. She suggested that they start by building it with their hands but finish the igloo up with magic and he nodded, moving forward along with her to start making the igloo. He kept looking over at her, of course, and was still stunned by how blue her eyes looked next to the snow. It was almost like he'd never seen them before. Any time she'd catch him, he'd make some innocent face and look away.
His hands started to get cold, though, and he stood, shivering slightly. She suggested they finish it by hand but- suddenly he was being hit in the face with the fluffy snow. He gasped and turned toward her. "Holy crap," he started, "you actually kept your sneaky emotions a secret from me. That, is amazing," he complimented, giving a short bow only to scoop up some snow himself and fling it in her direction.

Irina beamed and curtsied. "I learn from the greatest master in all the land," she said with a slight dramatic flair. She knew what was coming but her reflexes were not fast enough. "Oh it is WAR your highness," she declared, a wide smile in her face and her eyes dancing with the idea of a competition. She ducked behind the wall she had created and built up a small arsenal. She quickly peeked over to see where Dan was before launching several snowballs at her boyfriend. "You'll never win while I am on this side of the wall!" she cried with a laugh. She crawled over to the edge, snowball in hand and lunged, knocking into him and rubbing snow in his hair. "Aw the white looks good in your curls babe," she teased, then leaned in and kissed him. He looked so adorable in his fur coat, snow in his hair. Really, how could anyone resist that picture of handsome. She gave a small shiver; she felt out of breath from the cold and adrenaline, but her cheeks were flushed and a few strands of her hair stuck to her cheeks. "Did you mention something about sharing a fur coat?" she asked, slightly breathless.

Dan laughed, another one of those becoming not-so-rare laughs as she curtsied dramatically. His snow still hit her, though, and he fist bumped in celebration, only to feel her emotions bombarding him suddenly with that sense of competition. He knew it was dangerous to get her like this but, well, he loved danger. He ran to duck behind the other side of the igloo wall as she did, bending down and gathering some snow. He peaked over just in time to get hit in the fast AGAIN and here her laugh with glee at the thought of him never being able to win.
But then she was crawling toward him, "no, spare me!" he cried, but she was soon lunging and knocking him down. At the comment about the snow in his hair he should his head, but that didn't get much out. Then she was kissing him and he was grinning against her lips, wrapping his arms around her. She shivered and he pulled her even closer, frowning as she spoke. "Yeah, but let's finish this igloo. Here," he gently moved her aside in order to take the coat off, handing it to her, "put this on." He was wearing his favorite black button up shirt underneath with a maroon sweater over the top. He'd be fine.
He pulled out his wand to finish the igloo, in a bit of a hurry to get to the warmth inside.

Irina gave him a smile as he wrapped his coat around her. "But now you'll be cold so let's finish this," she agreed. She didn't want him to suffer in the cold for a minute longer than he had to. Besides, there were always other ways to keep warm once inside. She took out her own wand so they could finish the process a little faster. As the last piece came into place, Irina got down on her hands and knees and crawled into the space. It was surprisingly a bit bigger than she had been expecting; they could both fit comfortably in here. "Here," she said, taking off the coat and offering it back to him.
"Can you do the fire? I have another surprise for you," she asked, rummaging in her pockets. She pulled out two packets of hot cocoa powder and set them down on the ground. She conjured two mugs and poured the powder in, pouring in water from the tip of her wand. She held one of the mugs as the spiraling tendrils of steam coiled upwards, and handed him the other one. "Cheers," she said, leaning in to kiss him quickly before taking a sip of the cocoa.

They finished the igloo together and as soon as it was done Irina crawled inside and he followed. It was pretty decent sized, enough that they could lay side by side if they wanted to. She offered his coat back to him and he shook his head, "no, no," he scooted up close to her and laid the coat across their laps, warming their legs. She asked him to do the fire and he nodded, pulling out his wand to summon some sticks and whatnot and get a little fire started not far from them, but not close enough to light the coat on fire.
He turned to her, looking for this 'surprise'. He didn't know why, but that word made his stomach flip over for a moment, until he saw what it was. He grinned, reaching to take the mug she offered him. "Cheers," he said back, accepting her kiss.
They stayed close together under the coat, sipping the cocoa, and he used his wand to close up the door almost all the way so the only thing left was a small square window facing the trunk of the tree. "There we go! Nice and cozy," he put his arm around her shoulders as he took another sip.

Irina settled her head on his shoulder, her arm sneaking around his waist. She thought back to her correspondence with Magdalena. She had talked about the Room of Requirement and how it could set the perfect room for a romantic time with a partner. But as she looked around, the fire burning bright and warm in the igloo with just a window looking out at the trunk, she realized that this was more perfect than the Room of Requirement could ever have hoped to be. This was their special spot; sure other people knew this willow tree existed but nobody else was crazy enough to trek to the complete opposite side of the lake while it was snowing. She chuckled a little at the thought; there was no way they'd be disturbed all the way out here.
She realized where her thoughts were going and her face flushed. Her immediate thought was that hey the fire could mask and she could talk it off as being warm, but then remembered that Dan was an empath; he was feeling her emotions right now. She cleared her throat and looked up at him. "So, did you have any plans to be anywhere any time soon?" The question came out of her mouth and she took a rather large mouthful of cocoa. She coughed a little, wiping her mouth with her sleeve. Merlin why was she acting like an awkward teenager? Well, she supposed she was an awkward teenager - she was still a virgin after all. But her relationship with Dan didn't make her feel like she was in a teenage romance novel; she felt like a woman, a woman in love with the man sitting next to her.
