He was almost done with his shopping for Thanksgiving. He just needed some last minute ideas for dessert before he headed off to be with his family. So he went to the only place he could think of for supplies. Diagon Alley. He was half way to the store when a noise in a nearby alley caught his attention. Turning the corner down the alley, he saw movement coming from the shadows. His eyes widened as he saw what appeared to be one of the biggest spiders he'd ever seen. The thing was almost as big as he was, black, mangled fur covering it's body. It's mandibles chittering as it walked towards him. He knew it was a Boggart playing on his fears, but the fact that this spider was huge made it just as hard to do what he was suppose to.
Shaking hands reached for his wand as he slowly backed away from this massive creature. Trying his best to steel his nerves, he pointed the wand at the spider. "Riddikulus!" He spoke the magic word, and in an instant, the spider began to change from a dark black to a rainbow of bright colors, it's fur turning into colored paper, and what looked like a string shot up from it's back and latched itself to a nearby lamp post. The large spider had been turned into a large piñata. He smiled at this change, walking up to it to take a look at his work.
"Now then." he said to himself, "How did you get out, and what am I going to do with you?"

Victoire wasn't afraid of spiders, well not really. She was afraid of the information they could pass on, sure, but most of the thread was gone. The purifiers resident spider whisperer was dead, and that eased her mind. Still, when her and her two guard members saw the giant one in the Alley, they were very concerned. However, an auror stepped up to face it. Victoire stopped walking, and therefore her guards stopped a few feet behind her, and she watched the auror work.
She was having trouble remembering his name, which was irritating, but she stepped forward anyway. "Nice work. I suppose this guy was scared here from his home somehow," she guessed, pointing up at the new shape of the Boggart on the lamp post.

He was still circling the turned boggart, his mind whirling with questions, when he heard a voice behind him. His look of triumph turned to that of both shock and surprise when he noticed the minister of magic, herself, standing at the other end of the alley.
"Minister." He said, giving a nod oh his head in respect. He followed her look up towards the Boggart, but couldn't help his growing curiosity at her assumption. "Scared from it's home? What would scare a boggart?"
He looked to her, then to her guards to see if they had anything to add. But when they said nothing, he turned his gaze back to the boggart. Boggarts were creatures of fear. They used it, fed off it, even killed with it. So what manner of person or creature would scare a boggart. He could only hope it was just some random wizard doing house cleaning

Vic nodded back in greeting as the Auror called her by her title. He then asked what would scare a boggart and Vic smiled softly, "well, I'm sure you're scaring it right now. Someone probably crossed it and was too powerful for it to use it's abilities on it. That would scare it off, knowing it was out powered. Or-" she looked back up at the creature again while pulling out her own wand, "or it ran into a creature bigger than it was, which means we may have a problem on our hands," she glanced back to David and raised an eyebrow at him.
"Where were you headed? Do you need us to handle this for you? If you're in a hurry we'd be happy to take over," she offered.

"Well yes, I can be quite intimidating." He said with a small laugh.
He listened to her suggestions on what could scare this thing, his smile fading when she mentioned something more dangerous than a boggart. Taking out his own wand, he looked up at the creature. If only there was some way to track where it came from. He hoped that it was just the option of him scaring the poor thing, but knowing his luck, it was probably option B. When she asked what he was doing out and about today, the question surprised him. Not due to the question itself, but the fact that he had forgotten all about it.
"I was actually going to pick up a few last items for dinner tonight, though now that you've mentioned a bigger problem, I think I'd best stay and see what exactly we could be dealing with, if anything. What about you? It's not often I see the minister walking around town."

Vic smirked as he said he was intimidating, but didn't laugh. She wasn't a big laugher, she was always business, especially with people who worked for her. He answered her question, claiming he was just headed to get groceries and how he had best just stay and help. She nodded, then he asked what she was doing around town, "actually, I was going to buy my boyfriend a Christmas present," she said truthfully. The word 'boyfriend' rolled strangely off her tongue, and she felt like she instantly needed to talk about something else, even know it made her smile.
"Glad to have you here. Why don't we try and get this thing somewhere more private. Carter?" she turned to one of her guards, "get in contact with magical creature control, please," she said and then he was off. She turned back to David, "since you found the creature, you can lead. What should we do first?" she liked to test the aurors, see how they handled leadership and different situations.

Christmas presents? Dam, he thought to himself, I've yet to do my own Christmas shopping. When she smirked at him, he hoped that his little joke didn't seem to corny. He had a habit of having a sense of humor at bad or even awkward times. When she mentioned creature control, he nodded his head at that decision. The faster they got one less Boggart out of the public, the safer it could be. Though her mention of having a boyfriend caught him a little off guard. Granted she was an attractive woman, but he always thought she was too busy with work to have a relationship. But then again, he could just be thinking of himself in that aspect.
Then she asked him to not only lead, but decide the next course of action. This, above all thing, caught him off guard completely. In his years of being in the ministry, nobody's asked him to take the lead in anything. It was mainly work, reconnaissance, or controlling the media. This was the first time he was actually told to make the decision on what to do next. And by the minister of magic, herself. However, one look at the Boggart piñata hanging from the lamp post brought him back to where he needed to be.
"Boggart's aren't ones for slinking in alleyways. It's too wide open and spacious. They're more of the 'monster in the closet' types. What we should do is figure out where it came from. Best start in the alley since that's where I encountered it."

Victoire listened as he spoke about the boggart, nodding in agreement to what he was saying. "Start in the alley. Perfect. Gregory," she said, addressing her second guard who was still with her, "watch this boggart til Carter gets back with creature control. I'm fine with David," and then she turned back to David, wand still in hand and smile in place, "lead the way."
She followed him to the alley where she first found the thing and stood at the mouth of it, "so, where did you first see it? Was it hiding or already out and about?" she asked.

"It was hiding. Over there."
As the reached the mouth of the alleyway, he pointed his wand at a pile of boxes that laid across the middle area. He knew that was the place, because that's where he saw the massive spider crawling out from behind them. The thought of the spider sent a chill down his spine. He hated spiders ever since he was a kid and felt one crawling up his arm while he was exploring his parents attic. Though it was a small house spider, it had scared him to the point of growing a fear that was commonly known with muggles as arachnophobia.
As he approached the boxes, he moved a few of them with his foot. His face shown a look of curiosity as he saw that there wasn't any holes in the walls that the boxes could've covered, no cracks or grates that it could have crawled out from. As he continued to scour the area where he had spot it, he looked up and noticed a window that was open, but no light shown through. Pointing his wand towards the window, he spoke, addressing Victoire.
"Perhaps it came from that window. But there's no light or noise coming from it."

Victoire followed him to the alleyway, looking around. SHe knew what she was getting into when she took the job as Minister. No one else wanted to be the first in line for the assassination series that had been happening. She was the prime candidate and having the Order back her helped. People the community trusted. Still, she wasn't sure if she was ready for an all out war. Hopefully it didn't come to that.
She approached the boxes with him, wand out. She didn't see anything fishy at first. She looked up at the window as he mentioned it and nodded, "come on," she said. Flicking her wand, one of the crates floated over to her and she stepped on it, letting it lift her into the air toward the window.

He nodded when she told him to follow her. He had to admit, she had more courage than most witches he'd met in his life. Then again, she was the minister of magic for a reason. He smiled at this thought, wondering how many witches actually made it to minister status. He remembered studying up on the ministry before he joined, and noticed that most of the people that were ministers were wizards. He had to admit he was more than happy when he found out the next one was going to be female. But his smile faded, remembering exactly how it was that she became minister. Nobody would step up, because it seemed that the label itself had been made a target.
He watched as she took a box and used it to levitate herself up to the window. Looking around, he noticed that there were a few boxes that were collapsed, but he then noticed one that was stable. A wave of his wand, and the box began to levitate off the ground. Stepping on it, he used it to levitate himself up to the window, floating beside Victoire. He looked into the window, seeing nothing but darkness at the moment. He got a bad feeling, one that made him slightly uncomfortable.
"Allow me to go first, minister, it could be a trap."

David did have a point about him going first, and her bodyguards would not be happy if she was being reckless. She nodded, moving aside, "I'll be right behind you. If something goes wrong, I'll send for help out here. David," she said firmly, reaching over to place a hand on his shoulder, "don't do anything stupid, Just look around, tell me if it's okay to come in, or just come straight out," she nodded one more time before removing her hand.
She felt strange here, nervous. She didn't know what they were up against, but she was starting to regret dismissing her guards. This attitude was going to get her killed. Not too mention David.

David gave her a small smile when she said she'd be waiting out here in case there was trouble. Being cautious, himself, he slowly made his way through the window. The window itself was small, so he had to crouch a little just to squeeze through it. As the stepped into the room, his feet kicked up the dust, causing him to sneeze. He looked around the room, which seemed to be void of any light, except what was coming through the window.
"Lumos."
The tip of his wand lit up like a flash light, illuminating the room with a soft, white glow. The room itself was empty, spots where the dust hadn't settled in, revealed that there was someone here recently. He could make out the outline of what he believed was remnants of an apartment. However, there were no spots on the walls indicating pictures, and dust covered most of the house, indicating that who ever stayed here had no intention of cleaning. What bothered him most, was the feeling he was getting from the place. It felt dark, and dangerous. He had a feeling that he shouldn't be in here.
"It seems to be empty, but from the looks of it, it was emptied recently." He spoke towards Victoire.

He lit the room and she leaned forward, waiting for his cue. She heard a voice and followed him inside. She instantly felt sick almost... scared. She stepped up next to David, right beside him so they could stay close. "We need to get out of here," she said, "but first we need to take some evidence and some photos. I can call for a camera unless you have one?" she asked, preparing to patrounus messages her team if needed.
She lit her own wand and shown around the room, "I think someone was... trying to make it look like they weren't here. Magic is strong, though. Dark magic... almost like...." she almost said dementors, but she held back. The ministry had disbanded them years ago. She turned back to David, a look of confusion her face, but also determination. What in the hell were they dealing with?

"I agree," he said, "Go ahead and get a camera sent. I'll scout around for anything that could be useful."
David scouted around the room, finding nothing of note yet. He aimed his wand at every crevice, but still couldn't find anything. He listened to Victoire speak, saying exactly what he was thinking. There was powerful magic here, dark and foreboding. He couldn't put a finger on it, but as he looked, something drew him to what looked to be the closet of the room. As he opened the closet, he shined his wand inside, and the color drained from his face. All along the inside of the closet were drawings, and not just any children's work. These were drawings of wards and notes that seemed to have been left behind.
Each one represented notes of failed experiments. Who ever was hear was trying to create monsters, but more to the fact, monsters that resided in shadows. A few notes were about boggarts, since that seemed to be the only working trials. Others were minor creatures to that lead to bigger tests. Shadows, specters, even creatures he'd never heard of, or at least had never seen. But what frightened him most, were what the notes seemed to point to. The greatest of experiments that these creatures were leading up to. The boggarts and the like were just minor problems, all leading up to a picture of a large, spectral form.
"Dementors." He spoke, finishing Victoires thoughts, "Who ever was here, left behind notes that seem to have something to do with the dementors."
