Victoire whipped out her patronus, sending it off to her crew to call for a camera. He looked around, and she joined in, carefully assessing the room. The traces where there, for sure, but there was not real evidence of anything that she could find. Then, he opened the closet behind her, and she felt a rush of cold wash over her. "What?" she said firmly, spinning around, wand aimed in a battle stance. It was just... pictures. She stepped forward, right up beside him, so she could get a better look. "Why would anyone be so stupid as to leave all these notes behind? Unless they left in a hurry," she swallowed, spinning back around to look around the room, "and where just barely here and heard us coming," she wanted to stop her foot, maybe cuss a little, but she didn't. She was a professional.
She moved away from him, "don't just any of that stuff until the others get here. They'll handle it with special gloves," she told him, "unless you have your pair on you, then gather evidence. David-" she said, her face becoming severe, "do not tell anyone about this unless I give you the go ahead. Even Harry Potter."

He nodded at her words, making sure not to touch anything that needed to be touched. Though he was hoping Harry would be one of the people they could entrust the information to, he understood that she needed it to be a secret. He continued to scan the closet, pointing his wand around at the different corners. It was when he pointed his wand to the ground that he noticed something in particular. There was, what looked like, a door that could be lifted up by a small piece of rope that stuck out from it.
"Minister." He gestured to the door, looking at it closely. Upon closer inspection, he noticed something around the door's edges. At first he thought it was just paint that fell from the walls, but as he placed his hand on the door itself, he felt nothing but cold. The blue around the edges was frost, and it was starting to spread. David slowly backed up, his wand and his gaze focused directly at the door. "Minister. Get out. Now."

"Minister," he called, and she was right back at his side. She leaned toward the door he found and felt cold gently moving toward them. She almost opened her mouth, but he spoke first, backing up. She backed up with him, nodding. She whisked her wand, closing the door. "We need to lock this place down," she demanded.
Then, as if on cue, four others apparated just outside, the men she had called. "Culvers! Bronte! Get on that door, you two, take pictures, David-" she turned toward him, "I'm going to need you to take the lead on this investigation," she delegated.

"No. We need to get out. Now." He said, backing up as the frost from the door began to spread up the walls, "There's something under there, I think it's a-"
As if on cue, the door burst open, and what appeared to be a dementor shot up from inside, causing the entire room to begin to get cold. David backed up as the thing made it's way out of the closet. David aimed his wand at the creature, which no doubt took notice of him. The more the dementor moved from the closet, the more the frost spread throughout the room. David pointed his wand at the creature, which suddenly lunged directly for him.
"Expecto-" David tried to cast the patronus charm, but the creature was on him within seconds, pinning him to the wall and causing his wand to drop from his hand. He grunted and tried to move from it's grip, but he was held fast against the wall. Suddenly he began to feel cold, like all the happiness was draining from him. He began to feel alone, cold, like he would never be happy again. It was an empty feeling, and it seemed to be growing.

Victoire had dealt with Dementors before, but it was still irritating since she wasn't prepared for it. Her team didn't even make it in through the window where they had apparated before the window suddenly slammed shut, locking them outside. Victoire turned back to David just in time to see the Dementor flatten him against the wall, his attempt at a Patronus having failed. She blinked hard, took a deep breath, and raised her wand.
She went to her go to patronus memory. Imagining herself as the youngest Minister of Magic in history. But wait... now she was. She had a brief moment of panic, but David didn't have time for her personal crisis. What was her happy memory now!?
"David I'm So-" she stopped, taking in another deep breath. A small hand, clasping hers. She was incredibly confused. She didn't even like children, or rather, wasn't good with them. She tried to focus more on that, finally seeing blue hair atop the little head...
"Expecto Patronum," she whispered. Her hawk patronus burst out of her wand, tossing it's head back in a soundless caw before charging for the dementors eyes with it's beak.

David could feel himself slipping away, his eyesight failing, when a blue, glowing streak shot past him, causing the Dementor to release him. He collapsed to the floor as the patronus Victoire casted began it's assault on the Dementor. The Dementor itself tried to fight back against the charm, but the glowing bird pushed it back against the wall of the closet, causing it to explode into nothing. Unfortunately, the notes that lined the wall were destroyed, partially from the frost, and partially from the impact from the patronus.
David felt lightheaded as he sat slumped against the wall. Weak and unable to move from the attack, he kept his eyes on the glowing bird, which seemed clear at first, but soon began to be just a glowing, blue blur. David felt himself slipping into unconsciousness, his body sliding from the wall and collapsing onto the floor. His breathing was shallow, his skin slightly pale. Whatever the Dementor had done to him, it did enough to bring David close to not waking up.

As soon as the creature was gone, Victoire ran to Davids side, and her men finally got in through the window. "It was a dementor, it got him. Close to him, I think he's okay, but we need to get him to the hospital," she directed. Soon, they were off, Victoire and two of the men with David and the last too men investigating the scene. Victoire was feeling sick to her stomach.
What were they getting into? Who was taking those notes? Housing boggarts and dementors?
Why was fear their goal?
@optimus (let's end this thread for now and do some more investigating in IC January! Give David some time to recover and figure it out.)
