James wasn't sure what to expect as he walked into the Leaky Cauldron. What if he saw Alice? And what if she was mad at him still? What if it was so busy, he couldn't even have time to think? James had never really had a job before so it was a little nerve wracking. He didn't even know who he was supposed to be meeting with today as he entered the Cauldron and began to look around. Luckily, it wasn't too busy and there was no sign of Alice, either. James walked further into the inn and continued to look around. It was weird, walking into a place he had been in so many times, but walking in as an employee... it felt like he was walking in to the Cauldron for the very first time.

@jams if someone had told him a year ago that he'd be working in the same pub as james potter he'd have laughed at them. now here he was. hannah had waited till this morning to tell him who the new person she had hired was. he'd known she'd hired someone but she hadn't gotten around to telling him who it was until she had been ready to leave to go to the castle. he wondered if she'd planned that, the conflict between the potters and the flints wasn't a secret. much like it wasn't a secret of the conflicts with other pureblood families. he figured it meant she must trust him enough to leave them alone together, but he'd been working there for months now and he knew what he was doing. knew his job well enough and he had gotten on well with the other people working there aside from susan but that had been a different story. he saw potter walk in and he glanced around the pub. things still needed cleaning up from the breakfast rush and raleigh had to make sure the back was stocked for the lunch rush that as due in a little while so he grabbed a cloth and walked toward james. he tossed the fabric at him as he walked past. "no use standing there doing nothing. start clearing tables. dishes go in the back and empty bottles go in the bin under the bar, wipe the tables down when they're cleared" he said as he turned toward the back of the tavern.

James had never really had a real job before. Now as he stood in the middle of Cauldron, getting ready to start his first job, he realized how embarrassing that was and how he wouldn't be admitting that out loud any time soon. Alice's mother had mentioned he would know the person training him but she hadn't said who, so James hoped silently that it wasn't Alice. He continued to look around for any sight of an employee and then was met by a white cloth thrown in his face. He caught it instinctively and then saw Raleigh Flint. He certainly hadn't been expecting that. "Oh. So, you're the one training me." James just made a look like he was half surprised, yet not. It was weird, seeing Raleigh outside of school like this. "I... didn't know you worked here."

@jams "Oh. So, you're the one training me." he rolled his eyes slightly as he walked back toward the bar though he was close enough to still here james's musings. "nothing gets by you, does it potter" he said as he reached behind the bar in order to grab one of the baskets that they carried around to put the bottles in. he heard something else come out of james' mouth an dhe paused in order to look back at him. "I... didn't know you worked here." he shrugged his shoulders slightly as he lifted the basket over the bar. some used magic to get rid of the bottles but it took the same amount of time really, well at least it did to himself. he set the basket on one of the tables by james. "use this." he took his wand. he took a step back from the table and pulled his wand out of his back pocket, waving it in the air and muttering the incantation that caused the candles that had been burning throughout the night to go out. waving his wand to the side the candles left the lanterns, the melted wax figures vanishing into thin air. it had darkened the room a little but since the sun was shining outside it was still possible to work. he waved his wand again and where the old candles had been, new ones stood. he swished his wand to light them all and the soft glow of the candles lit the room back up and he put his wand back into his pocket, moving back behind the bar to wait for james to finish the tables before he told him what to do next.
