Matty couldn't help but smile a little bit at Cori's comment about dropping out of the sky. Matty didn't think any differently of those that were more shy than others, in fact he found them rather interesting. They had a different perspective than he did on most things and he liked to hear them. Coriander, for instance, did not like crowds so much that when she was a part of them - people thought she was "dropping out of thin air." It was a funny concept to Matty.
Matty flashed the Ravenclaw a toothy grin at her comment about his love for sweets. "That predictable, am I?" He joked, an eyebrow raising at Coriander sarcastically. Truth be told, Matty had always kind of thought himself to be a little bit of an open book but that was something he was not very open about it. It was like a little insecurity of his. One that he played off with harmless jokes.
House stereotypes were something that no one could avoid. Gryffindors were usually perceived as arrogant big-heads. Ravenclaws: snobby know-it-alls. The Hufflepuffs were probably as normal as they could get. And Slytherins? They were all seen as evil, cruel snakes. Matty didn't like to fall into the traps of stereotypes. He liked to see the better in people in hopes that they would see the better part of him as well. "Oh really?" Matty asked, folding his arms across his chest. "Really going against the typical Ravenclaw stereotype, there," he said, shooting her a sideways glance.

She shrugged at his comment about predictability, "Well, it's not like you're trying to hide it," she chuckled. "But don't worry, you're still plenty mysterious in other ways I'm sure," she nodded at him encouragingly. Cori definitely knew that she was the exact opposite of an open book. She didn't necessarily want to be so unapproachable, but she had become such. She was the product of her life experiences and her curse, and that was that. Still, it was kind of nice to talk to someone without having the option of bailing every few seconds. Which reminded her, hadn't she come to this train station to bail anyway? She knew that probably wasn't possible... and now it was starting to sound ridiculous in her mind.
Cori smirked at his comment and kept an eyebrow raised at him, "Why, thank you," she joked. "I do try," her little act disappeared quickly, however, and she twiddled her fingers in her lap before she spoke next. "You know, I actually came tot his train station because I was going to run away," she laughed a little at herself and looked down at her hands, breathing in a little deeply as she did so. She glanced back up at him after a moment with a half-awkward little smile, "What about you, Matthieu? Do you usually stick around?"

Matty smiled at the dark haired girl. "Well, thank you," he pretended to give a little bow in his seat. He looked back at her. "You're plenty mysterious as is, yourself." He said, giving a chuckle. "And... I mean that in a good way," he added quickly, realizing it could have sounded rude. He meant it only with the best intentions. She was sort of mysterious to Matty, in the way that he wanted to find out more about her. But he could sort of tell she wasn't very open with strangers and he wasn't going to push it.
At Cori's confession, Matty raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Really?" He asked, making no effort to hide his shock. Run away from Hogwarts? The thought was a little silly to Matty because... compared to home, Hogwarts was far better. He wondered what Cori's home life must be like if she wanted to run away from Hogwarts. He blinked, taking a few moments to realize she had asked him a question. "Uh, yeah," he said, shaking his head. He shrugged, a little smile appearing on his own face now. "Hogwarts is my home. As cheesy as that is," he admitted, a little crooked grin appearing as he chuckled at his own cliché. He looked back at the Ravenclaw, more curious about her than he had been five minutes ago. "Why did you want to run away?" He asked her, bluntly. The way Matty saw it, if one wanted to run away... maybe they just needed someone to talk to.

Cori smiled as he quickly added that he mystery was a good thing, "Ooh, I know. I've worked very hard to keep it intact." That was true. She had tried very hard to keep her curse a secret and therefore tried to remain mysterious. She was aware that it sort of added an allure to her outer appearance, and that wasn't such a bad thing. She could use it to her advantage when flirting and when trying to avoid flirting.
She knew that he would be confused at the idea of her wanting to run away. She leaned back against the bench and shrugged, crossing her arms over her chest. She nodded and tried to give a knowing smile as he explained that Hogwarts was his home. She really did see Hogwarts as a home too... It was the little things that had made her want to leave right now. "Why?" She thought for a moment about that question. She didn't really have a good reason by any means. "I guess I just need a break. From the world in general. There isn't really anywhere I can run to though, I know."
It did sound cheesy, the way he claimed Hogwarts as his home but it also wasn't hard to believe. Many people found a sanctuary within the walls of the castle. "I really do love Hogwarts. It's easy to be... Yourself there, you know?"
