Anna thought she might understand where Cecelia was coming from, but that didn't mean she agreed with what the girl was saying. It wasn't right to blame yourself entirely for someone else's actions. "I would blame myself, like I said, but I don't think it's right to blame yourself so much. I don't know the hand you had in your sister's actions, but she made her own decisions too and I doubt you could have changed them." That much was true. Desirae had been very strong-minded and Anna doubted she would have listened to a sister telling her to stop or calm down. Then again, Anna didn't know her that well. "I mean, you should be able to sleep every once-in-a-while at least. Have you tried using potions to help?" Anna didn't want to offend Cecelia, but she did want to help.

Cece shook her head a little when Anna said it wasn’t right to blame herself so much. The only other people to blame were her sisters, for their own actions, and Cecelia couldn’t speak ill of the dead like that. “Maybe if I was a better person I could do that.” She muttered. She was beginning to accept that she wasn’t a good person, though, and she couldn’t accept a lot of things that she needed to upset to go back to being normal. “Haven’t tried potions, no.” Cece sighed. “Side effect of a murderous sister is paranoia, and I’m not sure if I trust any potion I haven’t made myself.” Cecelia didn’t know if Elaine had any operatives in the hospital wing, and she wasn’t going to pretend that she wasn’t worried about being poisoned, sedated, or otherwise compromised because Elaine didn’t trust her. The Ravenclaw had seemed to become even more paranoid than usual after Desi’s death, probably because she worried about a traitor. It wasn’t Cece, though she wished it was.

Anna didn't know what to say. She wanted to help Cecelia, at least help the girl be able to sleep, but she didn't know if there was anything she could do to help. "Well maybe you could make a potion? If you wanted me to, I'd be willing to try and help. I mean, I'm not the best at potions," understatement of the year, probably, "but I'll try." If Anna wasn't so stubborn, she'd try potions herself, but she didn't think it was bad enough for that yet. "Do you want to talk about it," she asked hesitantly.

When Anna suggested that Cecelia make her own potions, the prefect was taken aback. “I hadn’t even thought of that.” Cecelia admitted. She wanted to blame that on the fact that she was constantly tired, but a part of Cecelia wondered if she hadn’t thought of it because she didn’t want the relief that potions would provide. “Maybe…sometime when you’re less busy.” Cece said. Anna was preparing for another task, Cecelia was sure, and she didn’t want to hinder Hogwarts’s chances of winning with her own personal problems. “I’ve already talked about it a lot more than I’m used to.” Cece admitted when Anna asked if she wanted to talk about it. “Thanks, though. Maybe another time.” Cecelia was getting really good at pushing things off for another time, she thought to herself with a rueful smile.

Cecelia seemed surprised by her suggestion and Anna smiled. "Well good! Maybe trying that would be a good thing. Not every night, but something you could use to make sure you get good sleep at least a few times a week." Obviously Cecelia didn't want Anna telling her how to live her life- Anna wouldn't want that either- so hopefully she wouldn't mind the suggestion. Anna smiled. "I could try and help you after the Second Task if you want to wait that long. If not, just tell me a day and I'll make some time. It won't kill me to take a break." Even if that break was just more work, and potions, no less. She could do it. Anna nodded when Cecelia said she didn't want to talk about it more. She smiled, "All right, but if you change your mind and want to talk with someone, I'm definitely willing to listen," she reminded the other girl. Anna wanted that to be clear.

Cecelia nodded when Anna said that it would be beneficial to get a good night’s sleep, even if it wasn’t always consistent. “I’d like to find a way to sleep without potions, too, but I’m not sure that’s possible.” Occasionally Cece was too tired to dream, but that hardly counted as getting enough sleep. Cecelia had read somewhere that sleeping next to someone else was seen as a common remedy, but she wasn’t sure she wanted to try that. And it wasn’t like she had someone to sleep with her, either. “It can wait until after the Second Task.” Cecelia said confidently. She had muddled along through the year without a potion, and she could muddle a little longer. Making a potion seemed like a poor break to Cecelia, so she didn’t want Anna to try to spend her free time like that. “I will, sometime. Just…not now.” Cece said. “The same goes for you, though I’m not sure if I’m much help.” Cecelia sometimes thought that she had too much of her own darkness to be of use to anyone. She was beginning to think that less and less, and maybe, if she could help Anna, Cece could dispel those notions once and for all.

Anna pursed her lips when Cecelia said she'd rather be able to sleep without a potion. "Well ... maybe that will come with time," she suggested, though she was sure Cecelia probably already thought of that. She nodded, "Well I'll definitely help you after that. Just let me know when you want to." Anna was going to do her best to remember, because she wasn't sure how comfortable Cecelia would feel reminding her. Anna smiled, "It helps knowing there's someone I can go to if I need to. Someone who can try to understand." Sure Anna had plenty of friends like Irina, but she hated putting so much on her friend when she was already having such a difficult time of things.

Cecelia made a noncommittal noise when Anna said that sleeping better would come with time. She had thought that two months would have been plenty of time for the nightmares to die down on their own, but no such luck. “I will.” Cece affirmed. She wasn’t sure if she would ever bring the subject up again, but if things started to get bad, then it was nice to have a plan. Anna said that she was glad to have someone who could try to understand her, and Cecelia gave her a weary smile. “I only wish that we could commiserate over something a little less depressing.” Nightmares hardly seemed like a good foundation for a friendship, and that was what Cece was hoping this would become.

Cecelia said she wished they could commiserate over something less depressing and Anna smiled, “Well, what are some things you like to do?” She felt a little guilty that it had been seven years and she hardly knew her dorm-mate, but it was better late than never. Other than that, she didn’t really know something else that they could bond over. Maybe they would find more similarities as they continued to talk and get to know one another better.

When she had made the comment about being less depressing, Cecelia hadn’t actually expected Anan to do anything about it, but it appeared the other girl was intent on getting to know her better. Okay, Cecelia thought to herself, she could do this. She had made another friend in Gryffindor – Grey – so now all she had to do was pretend like she was talking to him, and she wouldn’t put her foot in her mouth. “I like Astronomy.” Cecelia said with a shrug. It was kind of a boring hobby, but the stars were just about the only thing that Cecelia could say with certainty she loved because she loved it, not because she had been trying to emulate Desirae or please her parents. “And I’m the captain of the Gay-Straight Alliance.” That wasn’t something Cecelia advertised as freely for various reasons, but she figured that she could say it in the interest of getting to know Anna better.

Cecelia seemed surprised by her question, but Anna waited patiently, wondering whether or not the girl would answer her. When she did, she shrugged, but Anna smiled. "I like Astronomy. I'm not particularly good at it, but it's definitely interesting." She smiled as she remembered her astronomy lesson with Oscar a while ago. Then she looked at Cecelia with interest. "Were you made captain this year?" she asked curiously. She had no idea Cecelia was it, much less the captain, but that was definitely something new. She didn't know if Cecelia wanted to know more about her, but Anna decided to share a little anyway. "I think Charms is my favorite class, but I'm not really part of any clubs." Well, other than Phoenix Rising, but that wasn't official since it was more of a private thing.

Cecelia smiled when Anna said that she liked Astronomy. There – that was something solid that they could work with, if they wanted to be friends. “I don’t think that a hobby is something that you can be good or bad at.” She said with a shrug. Maybe Anna wasn’t as talented at locating or mapping stars, but that didn’t mean that she was a bad astronomer – just that she lacked certain skills. When asked about being Captain, Cecelia nodded once. “I wonder who chose the Captain. I was under the impression the Charms teacher disliked Gryffindors.” By that, Cecelia meant that she thought she had heard Grey mention that once or twice; her own experience with Professor Zhu was mostly just one of cool professionalism. “If you’d like to, you can attend a GSA meeting, even if you’re not a member.” Cecelia offered. Presumably Anna was heterosexual, but it wasn’t called the Gay-Straight Alliance for nothing.

Anna smiled when Cecelia said that she couldn't necessarily be bad at a hobby. "Well thanks. I enjoy it." Then Cecelia mentioned Professor Zhu and Anna shrugged, "No, I don't think she really does, but I really like the subject. I like how many different kinds of charms there are and I'm pretty good at figuring new ones out," she admitted. Then Anna smiled, "How about you let me know when the next meeting is and I'll see if I can come?" As long as it didn't interfere with the Tournament or Phoenix Rising, it'd be just fine for her.

Anna said that she enjoyed stargazing, and Cecelia smiled. “Maybe we could do that together, sometime.” It was certainly a better idea than just inviting Anna to a GSA meeting, since it was something they both enjoyed doing, while the other girls’ attendance at the GSA meeting would probably benefit Cecelia more than Anna. The redhead said she didn’t think the Charms teacher actually hated Gryffindors, which left Cecelia wondering what, exactly, was going on there. Maybe she’d ask Grey about it sometime. “I will.” Cecelia confirmed. “It’s kind of hard to find a time that works with everyone’s schedules.” Cece admitted. She didn’t want to ask people to skip things to attend the GSA meetings, and with her own hectic life, sometimes it was less than easy to find a time for everyone to come together.

Anna smiled back at Cecelia, glad that the two were having such a good conversation (even though it didn't start so nicely). She liked being able to connect with people. "We should! I would really like that," she answered enthusiastically. Obviously she and Cecelia weren't particularly close, but she was definitely up for the idea of enhancing their relationship with one another. Anna shrugged, "That's okay, just let me know when it is and if I'm not busy I'll come." Which might mean that Anna wouldn't be able to make it, since she was pretty busy, but she hoped that she would. She'd like to be able to support Cecelia.
