For the first time in a while, Jamie wasn't up at the Gryffindor tower to clear her head or to find Adrian or Lily. She was actually looking for someone else, a Gryffindor girl with whom she'd been exchanging owls for a while. Jamie had known vaguely of Madison Roberts before they had begun writing, because her family was so big, but until they had exchanged letters, Jamie hadn't thought much of her. Now that they were sort of friends now, though, Jamie figured it would be good to try to find some time to interact with the other girl face-to-face. She had told Madison that she was going to be visiting the Gryffindor tower soon, but she hadn't actually given a specific time and date. She was hoping that now would be a good time to visit, since she had walked up several flights of stairs for this meeting. At least if she didn't meet Madison that day, she had still gotten in a fair bit of exercise.

It has been a great day for Madi, she enjoyed herself in the charms class and later went on to fly over the Quidditch Pitch. It wasn't an official practice, but Madi being who she was loves to spend more time on air and on broom. Hyped up and happy with the day, Madi walked her way back to the common room, her broom slung over her shoulder. Giving the password, she stepped inside the Gryffindor common room, her home away from home, for the past six years. She smiled at the warmth it offered and was about to head to her dorm, when her eyes caught someone she knew. Or rather someone she is familiar with, Jamie Greyback. Madi and the puff girl exchanged quite a number of letters the past week, and though they decided to meet sometime Madi didn't know that it would be this soon. But nevertheless she was happy and made her way towards the girl "hello Jamie, It's great to see you". But when she wanted to extend her hand in greeting, Madi remembered her broom and said "I'll put this back in the dorm and be back in a jiffy" saying Madi took off towards her down room. She placed the broom on her bed and discarding her robes she came down smiling. This time she extended get hand and said "it's quite a surprise for me to see you Jamie. How are you doing?"MADE BY VEL OF GS

Jamie smiled when she saw Madison come up the entrance to the Gryffindor common room. She had her broom with her, which meant she had probably just been for a fly, and Jamie nodded when Madison said that she was going to put her broom away. She wondered if the other girl had already showered or if Jamie was going to need to cast a surreptitious smell to plug her nose. It was no matter, though, Jamie thought as the other girl came back down the stairs with a smile on her face. Madison extended her hand for a shake and Jamie wrapped her fingers around the other girl’s, noting the coolness of her hand. Jamie wondered why so few people seemed warm to her, but didn’t think much of it, since Madison was asking her a question. “It’s nice to meet you.” Jamie said. “I hope you’re not too surprised.” She added, since she had said that she was going to be visiting the Gryffindor, just not the time. “It’s been an okay day.” Jamie said with a smile. There hadn’t been anything particularly special about it, but nothing bad had happened either. “You?” She asked.

Madison was always the keen one to make new friends and talk to new people. So she usually sends out anonymous letters to anyone in school. This method of hers always worked and each time she ended up finding a new friend. And just like every other day, Madi sent out a letter and it was replied back by Jamie here. They both exchanged quite a number of letters, and decided to meet someday, without even bothering to see up a date and time, which was so very like Madi. No sooner had Madi touched the other girl's hand, she felt warmth in contrast to her own cool hand. Well, she just came from outside, and it is still February. As Jamie spoke, Madi shook her head and said "oh no, I'm surprised but it in a good way. I didn't expect you to meet me in here I kind of assumed that we might meet up in more of a common area, like fear hall or some where". Madi did not expect the girl to come all the way up to the Gryffindor tower to meet her. And to say, Madi was touched by the action. Madi nodded at her words and when asked about her day, she said "it's been good, charms class followed by potions and some flying. It's been great actually". Not that anything could put a damper to her spirit which is always blazing. She gestured for the girl towards the couches and said "let's settle down. We still have a lot of time for dinner". Madi settled down, Making herself as comfortable as possible. She turned to look at the elder puff and said "so you wanna play professional Quidditch? Which team are you aiming for?" she asked with curiousity. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Oh, that made more sense. Jamie nodded. “I come up here so much anyways that I figured I might as well wait for you this time.” She explained. If she was going to leave it to chance, then her busy schedule might have made it so she never met Madison, and since Jamie was graduating in only a few months – a fact that she was reminding herself of more and more often – she wanted to make sure she got to meet the other girl at least once before she departed the school. “Though now that you mention it, the Great Hall probably would have been easier…” Since the houses sat at separate tables, it would have been easy to hang out at the Gryffindor table until Madison sat down, and then she wouldn’t have had to climb all of those stairs. Oh well – Jamie had done it and now there was nothing to do but enjoy Madison’s company.
“That does sound like fun!” Jamie said. “Those are both your favorites, right?” From Madison’s letter, Charms was her favorite class, followed by Potions. And, of course, everyone loved flying. If Jamie had a day like that, then she would have been in a good move, too. When invited, Jamie sat down on one of the couches next to Madison, smiling. “Yup, that’s the plan for now.” Unless something went awry, it was going to remain the plan. “I’m hoping for the Holyhead Harpies.” Jamie said. The Harpies players had been her heroes when she was younger, as a little girl who had just learned she could do magical things like fly. The fact that her ex-girlfriend was named Harper had made Jamie just a little more eager to play for them – it was a kind of funny nod to their relationship. “You want to go pro after you graduate, too, right?” She asked. Madison was the year below her, so she still had some time to think, but that was what Jamie believed was her goal.

Madi smiled at her answer and said "that's sweet of you to stay back." Madi was liking the girl more and more, but the again Madi always liked a lot of people except a few who decide to bring out her bad side. Seeing Jamie brought a smile on to her face and at the girls reply, she shrugged and said "well yeah it is true though. But I'm glad you are here now."Madi gave a small nod and said "yeah it has been a good day." When Jamie mentioned about those two subjects being her favorites, Madi gave a grin and said "yes they are." And Madi was rather surprised to see that the puff remembered about her. She however remembered something Jamie mentioned in the letters and asked "so I thought I asked you but forgot. But what did you mean by lions not liking the charms Professor? Did something happen that I didn't know?" It would have been true, cause Madi never listens to every talk going on surrounding her. And things which are common Knowledge to others might not be too her. Madison nodded at the elder puff's answer and said "that's great. Oh Holyhead harpies is a nice team"she said with a smile. But Madi on the other hand had always been a tornadoes fan right from hey childhood. But her brother's on the other hand were puddlemere fans. So it's always crazy time when the topic goes to Quidditch league. As Madi was asked about her own career, she nodded and said "yes, I am hoping to become one. If not, I'll end up becoming a charms Professor" as she shrugged. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Jamie smiled when Madison said that it was a good day, and grinned even brighter when the other girl smiled toothily at her, apparently for remembering Madi’s preferences. When the subject turned to the Charms professor, Jamie paused before speaking. “I’ve never heard anything bad from her, but apparently some Gryffindors think that she hates them.” Jamie said with a shrug. Like she had said, the Hufflepuff had never heard anything from Professor Zhu that would imply that the woman hated Gryffindors – Jamie couldn’t help but wonder if she actually hated lions, or if they were just using that as an excuse for why they got detention in her class. “I can’t speak from personal experience, so I don’t know how true that is.” If Madison hadn’t noticed anything off about the professor, though, Jamie was beginning to lean towards the explanation of the Gryffindors just using house bias as a reason to excuse their own poor behavior. Jamie loved Gryffindors, she really did, but they weren’t the best at following the rules, and just because someone actually held them to the same standard as all the other houses on that front didn’t mean that they were hated.
“I think so.” Jamie said with a nod when Madi commented that the Holyhead Harpies was a nice team. “I’ve been telling everyone that I’ll go with whatever team wants me, though, so if I end up someplace else, don’t be surprised.” Jamie cautioned the other girl. “That’s a solid backup.” Jamie said when Madison said she wanted to be a Charms professor if not a Quidditch player. “I would have been a potioneer if I hadn’t decided to play Quidditch.” After she inevitably retired from Quidditch, that was probably what Jamie was going to do.

Well this day was getting more good in Madi's opinion, for she was really enjoying the company of the puff girl. It may be a little too early to say it, but if she has had a conversation of this length, then it's going to be good later on in her books . As the topic went towards the charms Professor, Madi learned forward to listen with interest, and as she spoke Madi tilted her head to the side as she began to think who would the Gryffindors think like that? "Well that's not true, at least I think that she is not one to hate people". Well as far as Madi was concerned, the only thing she cares about is, whether or not the subject is being taught well. Other than that she isn't the one to bother about things like these. At a place like Hogwarts, people always talk and rumors are spread around like wild fire and even before they reach the last person another one starts. And Madi was never a patient person to listen and keep track of things like these, when she has other things to do. "It played well the last season, so yeah it's good. I'm glad you didn't select chudley cannons". And as much as she hates to speak I'll about that team, they are the worst team she has seen and has been like that since she was a kid and before too. "Well, yeah that is also true, as we never know what may happen. May be you might get a better chance else where" said Madi with an excited grin. As the league begins, all the empty spots are usually filled up and so are reserves, so it's only a matter of time when one has to prove themselves and get into the team they like and prefer. "Yeah it is, besides I'll end up becoming one after I retire from Quidditch, gotta do something I love to get going" she said with a smile. Being Madison, she never liked to stay idle and that would mean that she has a plan for her future too. "Well you could become one too, I mean we only have the league matches in some months the rest of the year is pretty boring"she said thinking back to what her brother has said about waiting and practising. Jamie offered a hearty nod when Madison said that she didn’t think that the Charms professor was one to hate people. That was what she had been thinking, too, but it always seemed to be such a touchy subject when she brought it up to Gryffindors. They had a tendency to get on their high horses, all red-faced and spluttering, and Jamie…didn’t get that. She had been told too many times that holding onto hatred for people was unhealthy, et cetera. Even if the Charms teacher was somehow hateful, the Gryffindors hating her right back (and starting rumors about her, no less) wasn’t a way to make the situation any better.
“Orange is not my color.” Jamie said with a laugh when Madison said that she was glad the Hufflepuff hadn’t chosen to play for the Chudley Cannons. Of course, that wasn’t the only reason Jamie hadn’t wanted to play for the Cannons – they weren’t all that great of a team, and Jamie didn’t want her entire Quidditch legacy to be playing for a losing team. Of course, being the one to bring the team back to greatness could be fun, but there was no guarantee that she’d be able to do that. Madison said that they never knew what might happen, and Jamie nodded her head. “I hate to say it, but part of the reason I want to be a Quidditch player is because it pays so well.” She said. “I’m not in contact with either of my parents anymore, so having a job where I can support myself from the get-go was important for me.” Because after Hogwarts, Jamie was going to be all on her own. “I would do something during the off-season, but I want to make sure I have time to stay in shape and stuff.” She said with a shrug. Having another job would make it harder to find time to practice during the off-season, and honestly, Jamie just wanted time to take a break. Quidditch was a physically demanding game, and giving the body some time to rest would keep her from getting injured as easily, which was important if she was going to spend the rest of her life on a broom.

Madison noticed the smile on the other girl's face and understood that she too agreed with her. Just as she was about to speak, she heard a small sound which closely sounded like a cat purring, from beside her prompting Madi to look at. And the sight she found melted her heart, not literally of course, standing in front of her was her cute kitten Sugar dragging her pillow. Giggling at her antics, Madi picked her up and cooing over the cat she spoke "look who came searching for her mama. Did you miss me?"as she ran her hands over her short black fur. She held her kitten out to Jamie she spoke "and this here is my darling, i call her Sugar" and hearing is name her kitten, looked up from licking her paw. And when she didn't say anything, her kitten snuggled herself deep, and yawned a little. "Ah this little one's antics" said Madi fondly looking at Jamie. "Do you have any pets?" she asked the elder puff. Madi too joined in her laugh and said "it's not mine too. Mine is blue, puddlemere blue to be precise though I'm a tornadoes fan". Surrounding by her twin brothers who were avid supporters of puddlemere, she always saw the blue around her, since the day she was born. And that eye catching cookie became her favourite though the team couldn't become her favourite. From the time she could understand quidditch, she had been a tornadoes fan which was quite contrast to the rest of her family. They were either puddlemere fans or Holyhead or Appleby fans watch was good for her and bad for her parents and their siblings. For the house resembles a mad house when all the cousins become crazy when the quidditch season is ongoing. As Jamie explained he reason, Madi gave a nod as she could understand where she was coming from, not that Madi would know much about it. She herself came from a well off family and she lived in a manor shared by her dad and his siblings. So money was never a problem for them, and both of her twin brothers would make sure she has abundant. That was also part of the reason why she was such a fashionista, and enjoyed treating her self to new things. She nodded at her words on working off season and said "of course, practice is important too, never should miss one" she said earnestly. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Jamie watched as Madison looked behind her to see her cat, and the Hufflepuff balked. She had yet to meet a cat who did anything more than tolerate her, and most of them were outright rude. Jamie was going to blame that one on her smell, which she imagined was peculiar to most animals. When Madison held out her cat, Jamie patted it twice on the head before scooting away so it wouldn’t hiss, claw, bite, or otherwise be mean to her. Jamie loved animals, she really did, but a lifetime of caution against cats was finally beginning to wear away at her. “Cats don’t like me.” Jamie explained in case Madison thought her behavior was weird (because it was). “I do have an owl though. His name’s Nyroc.” The bird wasn’t often with Jamie, because she allowed him to be lent out to other students if need be. It was a good way to make sure the owl didn’t get bored, since there were some times when Jamie didn’t have a lot of letters to send…And others, of course, where she sent multiple letters in a day. It was a delicate balance.
“Green and gold will work just fine for me.” Jamie said with a smile. This was the most she had ever pressed the idea of being on the Harpies, though everyone who was close to her seemed to have gathered her preference for the team. It was one of those things where Jamie was trying not to get her own hopes up too high, in case they were dashed, but everyone kept telling her she was going to do so well…She trailed off, and then brought her attention back to the conversation. “We should do a ranking of Quidditch teams based on their colors.” Jamie said with a laugh. It would be interesting to see where each team landed when looking only at how aesthetically pleasing their outfits were.
Jamie nodded when Madison said that practice was important. “Yeah, exactly. And while I’d love to have another job, I think it’d have to be more of a freelance thing.” Something she could pick up for a week or two if she needed some extra Galleons, and then put back down. It didn’t seem like there were a lot of jobs that fit that description, though she was more than willing to try to find one.

Madison couldn't understand when her kitten became soo clingy. It was usually more cuddling than others, but that was because Sugar was relatively young when compared to other cats in the dorm. But never before did she behave like this, it was as though she didn't want to meet Jamie. As when Jamie petted her, Sugar was squirming in her hands ready to snuggle with her. Madison didn't know what to say at her cute ones weird behaviour and said "sorry i guess Sugar missed me a lot today. She's being very clingy when i don't see her for more than a few hours" she tried to explain away her kitten's strange behaviour.
When Jamie mentioned that cats don't like her much, Madi sighed. She didn't want the elder puff to feel bad. As the other girl mentioned about owl, Madi nodded and said"i don't have one, so i use a school owl or one of my cousin's". Madi never did have a pet before, and only got one when she completed her owl exams. She knew that having a pet came with responsibilities such she was not ready to take upon before. But now she was ready, and that was why she got Sugar right after her fifth year exams on a trip to diagon alley with her mama.
When the elder girl mentioned about the colours, Madi nodded her inner fashionista coming out she spoke "yes it would, i mean you have blonde hair which would definitely look great with your uniform". She smiled sheepishly when the other mentioned about ranking the teams, "yeah we totally should. But you gotta accept, puddlemere blue looks the best when compared to others, and canons orange would be the last" she replied with a chuckle. Madi nodded at the answer Jamie gave and said "yes, something which doesn't tire you out, but something you enjoy". Even as she said it, the weren't many jobs that came into Madison's mind. And she voiced out the same "there aren't many jobs such fit those descriptions, you know?" It was not as though she was picking out a flaw in the elder girl's words but Madi was merely pointing out the fact. @jamie

Jamie couldn’t say that she was surprised when Sugar squirmed away from her and into Madison’s arms. The other girl thought that the behavior was strange, though, if her explanation was anything to go by – normally people didn’t explain how an animal normally behaved. “How old is she?” Jamie asked politely, hoping to keep the conversation at least somewhat focused on the cat, who was really more of a kitten, but not on the way it was behaving towards her. Maybe younger cats were predisposed to be clingy? Jamie had been hoping that she’d eventually meet a feline who could stand her presence, but apparently Sugar wasn’t going to be that feline.
“You’re welcome to borrow mine.” Jamie offered. Like she had just been thinking, he wasn’t all that busy, except for occasionally flying to a different part of the castle to deliver messages to various other students she might not otherwise see. “Unless we end up sending more letters, of course.” Jamie wasn’t opposed to the idea of continuing to be Madison’s pen pal, but she had to admit it was a lot easier – and a lot quicker – to communicate face-to-face, without the aid of an owl.
Jamie smiled a little when Madison said the Harpies uniform would look good with her hair. That hadn’t been a consideration of hers, but hey, if it was another positive, then what was the worry? “Well, let’s start by making a list of teams, then, so we don’t forget anyone.” Jamie said, wishing that she had thought to bring parchment with her. Hopefully Madison would have some. At the Gryffindor’s comment about there not being many jobs with her criteria, the Hufflepuff smiled wryly. “If there were, I don’t think there would be as many miserable adults.” Jamie said fairly. Everyone had the fantasy of going to a job that didn’t feel like work, but it seemed like most people lost their passion for their job after a few years, or even just a few months. Jamie hoped that Quidditch wouldn’t begin to feel like a chore for her once she began to play professionally; the worst thing, in her mind, would be ruining one of her favorite things by turning it into work.

Madison hoped that the Hufflepuff was not offended by the way Sugar was behaving. Age ran her hand over three kitten just as Jamie had asked about her. "It's just two weeks away from its first birthday" said Madi with a grin. The girl has quite a nine of ideas to celebrate her sugar's birthday. She looked at her cat who was now staring at the Hufflepuff with its beady eyes, and Madi has to wonder what was running in that low brain.
As Jamie offered her owl, Madi had a sheepish smile and said "thank you, but you didn't have to". She didn't want the other girl to feel obligated to offer her help. It was not as though she wanted the owl often, and the only time she needed it was to send letters to her brother's. And since both of them have their own owls she has no trouble communicating with the both. At the girl's reference to theirprevious letters, Madi face a chuckle and said "i much prefer talking in person, as i don't have to wait for the reply". Madi was quite a talkative person and waiting for a reply to arrive by owl, always makes her restless. And if there was any chance of avoiding it, she would take it without batting an eye.
As Jamie had raised the notion of listing out the teams, Madi grinned. She was definitely fond of the Hufflepuff the more she talked. Raising from her seat, Madi placed Sugar on the couch where she sat, "I'll be back in a jiffy" she said to Jamie as she hurried upstairs. She could have summoned it, but she knew what would result in her summoning every empty parchment on her bed. She was quick on her feet and returned back soon with done parchment, and a self inking quill. She took Sugar it and gently placing her on her lap, Madi spoke "let's get started shall we!" as she picked up the quill and handing another to Jamie in case she wanted to add anything. "Let's see, all the teams on one side and their uniforms on another. So it would be" muttered Madi, mostly to half but loud enough for Jamie to hear it. She began to write disc the teams she could remember in her short beautiful writing. At Jamie's comment about miserable adults, Madi nodded and said "yeah, but there is no wrong in hoping right?" Though she said it, she knew that hope is a strong word, which can drive people to do things. As she was adding names to the list, she only could remember a few and turning to the elder girl she asked "you have to help me here, i only can remember a few on top of my head".

Jamie nodded when Madison said that her cat was just a few weeks away from her first birthday. Jamie couldn’t, for the life of her, remember her owl’s birthday, if she had ever known it at all. It was a lot easier to calculate that for mammals, though, since their mothers actually had to give birth. If Jamie wasn’t mistaken, sometimes an egg hatching could be a multiple day process, which would be another confounding factor in discovering an owl’s birthday. “If you want me to, I can try to bake a cat-friendly cake.” Jamie offered. Then she winced a little at herself – she could bake a human cake, sure, but something told her that baking a cake that an animal could consume would be a lot more difficult, and maybe out of her skill range. Well, it was too late to take back the offer now.
When Madison said that she didn’t have to offer her own, Jamie shrugged. She wasn’t going to revoke the offer, but if Madison wasn’t comfortable with it, then she wasn’t going to push it on the other girl, either. Jamie was more enthusiastic in her response to Madison saying that she preferred talking in person. “I like both types of communication for different reasons.” Jamie said. Sometimes it could be hard to find a time to sit down and talk with someone, which made owls ideal. And Jamie was under the opinion that sometimes people said things that they normally wouldn’t when all they had to write them down – that was both a good and a bad thing, of course, but Jamie recognized the merits of both. Madison’s comment about not having to wait for a reply was definitely a positive to in-person communication, though.
Madison went to her room to get the quills, and Jamie watched the cat warily. It seemed to be eyeing her back, though Jamie was wondering if that was just her paranoia beginning to set in. She scooted closer to Madison so that she could read over the Gryffindor’s shoulder while she wrote down the teams that she could remember. Jamie extended her hand for the quill when Madison asked for some help. Jamie didn’t know every team off the top of her head, but she was pretty close, especially considering she had been talking to members of as many teams as possible in order to get a fuller view of the world of Quidditch post-graduation. She wrote in as many names as she could remember, her handwriting slightly messier when compared with Madison’s, but still rather neat and curly. She didn’t fill in the colors, though, sliding the quill and parchment back to the other girl for that. “I think that’s everyone.” Jamie offered, in case the size of the list wasn’t enough of an indication.
