Irina knew that her second Occlumency lesson would be worst than the first after life distractions had been more than a small distraction, but the beginning had been nothing short of a disaster. One of the first things Spike had found was her breakup with Daniel, and though she never expected sympathy from him, his words had been rather harsh. Dan had been the reason after all that she had started wanting to learn Occlumency. Still, after his speech, Irina knew that she needed to continue on with the lessons. She didn’t think that anyone would want to kidnap a Cursebreaker, but hey it was a slim possibility. She’d come this far after all, it would be no use turning back. By the time they were finished, it was late, past curfew. So Irina had asked him for a note, in case any Prefect was patrolling and asked why she was out of bed. Note in hand, she left the dungeons, wondering if her friend Rubeus or her sister were on patrol, though with the latter it was unlikely as Rip was still recovering from her head injury, and her duties were a bit easier. As long as it wasn’t...oh bollocks. Irina got to the Entrance Hall and made her way to the main staircases when she saw one of the only people she did NOT want to see on duty - Rose Weasley. The two had had quite an antagonistic relationship that mirrored their fathers, but Irina was exhausted after her lesson and did not want to start anything. So she started up the steps, note in her clenched fist. “I have a note Weasley,” she said shortly, holding it out in case the Head Girl wanted to inspect it, which she likely did. It was a regular night out on patrol. Since the initial attacks on the school last year, the Aurors at the school handled the main doors in and out of the school and any far off corridors. As Head Girl, Rose had been assigned the moving staircases. She had been walking up and down for about an hour now, stopping when the staircases moved so she could better patrol the whole hall of moving staircases better. Her mind was a little preoccupied tonight, as it usually was, with thoughts of a certain blonde hair Slytherin. Though this time, they were pleasant thoughts. The last couple months before Christmas had not been good, having not spoken to Scorpius since she found out about him and Ondina. But after the Yule Ball, Rose felt happy again. So it was a bit of a surprise, while distracted in her thoughts, when someone actually came up to the staircases this late.
Irina Krum. Of all people, Rose hadn't been expecting to see the eldest Krum daughter out this late. Rose didn't say anything or move from her spot, but instead reached her hand out to take the note that Irina was holding out for her. Like Rose actually would have let her walk by without seeing a note. Rose took her Head Girl duties very seriously, especially considering the lengths the school was going to in order to protect its students. Rose glanced at the note and saw Professor Constantine's signature upon it. The Ravenclaw handed it back to the Gryffindor and took notice that this was one of the first few times she had seen her by herself since the other schools' students had arrived and she decided to speak out about it. Besides, Rose usually wasn't tight lipped with Irina Krum. "What, no Durmstrang boy with you tonight?" She asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

As she expected, Irina watched as Rose carefully read the note, and evidentally deemed it as a real note from a real professor. "I don't have any reason to be coming up from the Dungeons if I was not speaking with Professor Constantine, as you recall I am Potions Club Captain," she said stiffly, taking the note back from her and putting it in her pocket. Irina wondered if Rose was going to throw anything her way, and just moments later the Ravenclaw did not disappoint her. But it being about Daniel, Irinas' back stiffened ever so slightly. "Durmstrangs stay in the ship they sailed in on; he wouldn't have been with me anyway this late," she snapped. She glanced behind Rose's shoulder pretending to look for someone. "I don't see Scorpius anywhere, don't tell me you're actually letting him patrol with Ondina. Do you really think you can trust him around her?" she asked with a mock sweetness. It wasn't as if it was a huge secret that the Malfoy boy had first dated Ondina then moved onto her cousin, whom in Irina's opinion was only the tiniest bit of an improvement. "I heard your mother was named Minister of Magic; I'd offer my congratulations, but it's not your achievement and I woupldn't want it to go to your head," she added casually. Irina in all seriousness was quite happy that Hermione Granger had been named Minister as she believed the woman absolutely deserved the post. She just wouldn't tell Rose that; Hugo maybe, but not Rose. The Occlumency lesson she had just endured gave her head a throb of pain and she visibly winced, her hand coming to her forehead quickly to try and mask the pain. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Rose rolled her eyes when Irina said she had been with Professor Constantine, not missing a chance to remind Rose that she was Potions Club Captain. Typical that Irina would try to rub that under her nose. Rose had been Charms Club Co-Captain last year, but gave up the captain position this year in order to fulfill Head Girl duties more successfully. Rose was just about to smirk at Irina's explanation as to where the Durmstrang boy was, but then naturally Irina shot back with something about Scorpius. Instantly, Rose's face turned sour and hard. It shouldn't have surprised her that Irina had to throw out something about Scorpius and Ondina. Rose was the first to strike, after all. "I don't think that's any of your business Krum," Rose folded her arms across her chest and raised her head slightly to stick her nose up at Irina.
The Ravenclaw's eyebrows furrowed further when Irina mentioned Rose's mother's achievement. Rose was immensely happy for her mother, and luckily it seemed Irina didn't take her feud with Rose out on her mother. If she had, Rose probably would have risked her Head Girl position right then and there. "What's your father doing these days?" Rose asked with the same mock sweetness that Irina had. "Awaiting for his beloved children to follow in his footsteps? Well... all except for one, that is..." She smirked at Irina, knowing full well Irina was the only Krum that wasn't on the Quidditch team. As the daughter of Viktor Krum, Rose assumed that wouldn't go unnoticed in their household.

Irina raised her eyebrows. "Should the student body not be informed when their Prefects are not upholding their Prefect duties? Though I can understand in this day and age being worried about staying out alone at night for too long." She trailed off with a small smirk, as though suggesting that even a Prefect could be attacked while on patrol. It had happened before of course; in 1993 a Prefect of Ravenclaw, Rose's own house, was attacked by the basilisk. It did not matter that she had that shiny 'P' pinned to her chest, Penelope Clearwater had been Muggleborn, and therefore a target. And even now, there were rumors that Susan Windsor, the new Ravenclaw prefect (and to be noted also a Muggleborn) had been followed by a strange stream of spiders for sometime, causing her to believe Desirae Rousseau was after her. "As you fully know, my fathers' at the Ministry in the Department of Magical Games and Sports. He was one of the first to know about your mothers' appointment; he said she told him personally," Irina said, her tone sharp. The point of contention that had blossomed between Irina and Rose had of course been their fathers' rivalry; Viktor Krum had been Hermiones' first courter, her first beau, the first man in the Ministers life who noticed her as a woman than just a brainy girl. Rose's father had always been jealous, even after Viktor had married Elena and had four children by her, and that rivalry happened to continue with the two of them. Thankfully, it was everything but romantic; it would have been very strange for Rose to fancy her cousin James after all, and Irina had always just seen Scorpius as a friend. "Not that it matters to you, but my father is perfectly proud of my ambition to become a Cursebreaker; he says it is a fine profession and that I will get to see the world, which is all he could hope for all of his children, to experience cultures that differ from our own," she said proudly, tilting her head up a little. Bad idea; Irina felt the blood rush to her head and she stumbled for a second, before recatching her footing and glaring defiantly at Rose. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade

Rose's eyes narrowed further into a hard glare. Irina knew just what to say to really get under her skin. "It's none of your business as to the matters of my personal life," she said matter of factly, knowing full well Irina knew what she meant the first time. "And as Head Girl, I'm going to tell you only once to leave any mention of my personal, private matters out of your mouth." Her voice turned more into a hiss at the end of her sentence. Rose would never use her Head Girl title for her own personal gain, but she would certainly use it to deter Irina Krum.
The Ravenclaw rolled her eyes when the Gryffindor spoke of their parents talking. Unfortunately, Rose knew full well that her mother still spoke to Viktor Krum. It was something that she and her father still could not stand to this day. She was, after all, her father's daughter. Rose couldn't help the smirk that appeared on her face as she saw Irina recatch her footing after she spoke. "Hm," she mused. "I'm sure it's a devastating disappointment to one of the greatest Quidditch players of all time. Wouldn't you say?" Rose egged the Gryffindor on. Just like Irina could get under Rose's skin, Rose knew she could get under hers too.

Irina crossed her arms and resisted the urge to roll her eyes; the last thing she needed was Rose taking her Head Girl status to the next level and giving her a detention, for no other reason than she felt like it. Of course, that would be abusing her power, but Irina had a feeling the Ravenclaw would make an exception from her. “To be fair, that statement was not pointed at your personal life, merely stating a fact of how the world is right now,” she retorted, taking a step up the stairs so she was more level with Rose. “And how do you know Scorpius hasn’t brought you up to me before?” she questioned, raising the challenge. Scorpius had come to Irina for a little extra help in Potions, which she had agreed to on the condition to not tell anyone. He liked to put on the airs he was actually good at the subject after all. She wondered how Rose would feel knowing Irina had tutored her boyfriend. “Actually, my father was the one who encouraged me to be an individual, and not feel like I have to follow in his footsteps,” Irina declared, raising an eyebrow at the girl . “You’re confusing him with my mother, who was also a great Quidditch player and more determined to make all four of her children into her own Quidditch team. But you already knew that from last year,” she snapped, reminding Rose the time that the amateur had followed Irina up a tree to berate her for going outside without a buddy. “I suppose you’ll be following in your mothers’ footsteps at the Ministry, how typical. Then again I would love to see you try to run a joke shop; for a father famous for running a joke shop you certainly have trouble taking one,” she added with a smirk. Really, the girl was all business; she wondered how Scoripius could stand it sometimes. At least Ondina was interesting. Rozalina Antonina Nightshade
