It was day two of trying to get into the Room of Requirement to see if she could listen to the music her anonymous writer had recommended. After a very unfortunate and annoying encounter with a Hufflepuff werewolf where, somehow, the door had decided not to let either of them in, she had come back today to see if it'd work. Hopefully there wasn't going to be anyone in the room. Or around the room. Her specifically. She had to admit that she'd gotten a bit carried away yesterday and had gone on to be rude to the girl just because she'd been annoyed that she hadn't allowed her to go first. She couldn't say she actually regretted it but she needed to be better, maintain her politeness even if someone was being a pain in the... well. It was earlier than it had been yesterday; it wasn't too early but it was after breakfast had been cleared in the Great Hall. Instead of opting for study right away today, she was headed to the Room of Requirement just to get it out of the way. Her footsteps were faster; after said encounter she was worried that someone would be using it again this time or that someone would be standing in front of it in order to use it. She didn't want to have to deal with anyone else on the matter. She'd finally reached the top of the stairs and was headed to the same spot where the door were to appear, only to realize that there were footsteps coming towards her. You've got to be kidding...! Wolf girl makes an appearance once again. She sighed. "Again today...?" she mumbled under her breath but instead met the girl head on. "So how shall we do this today?"

After yesterday’s disastrous attempt at trying to get into the Room of Requirement to listen to her music, Jamie was finally ready to try again. She had blocked off much more time in her schedule to be able to wait (or, preferably, to listen) as long as need be, and the Hufflepuff was excited to be able to finally hear the songs that her pen pal spoke so highly of. Jamie had even thought ahead enough to bring some snacks with her, since the one thing the room could not provide was food. She had a loosely wrapped package of crisps as well as a few chocolate chip cookies, and was more than prepared to camp outside the room until it was willing to open for her. As Jamie made her way through the fifth floor, she wasn’t thinking of much other than what the songs she intended to listen to might sound like and how long she’d be able to listen to them. What she wasn’t thinking about was a certain Slytherin who had also attempted to get into the room the day previous. When Jamie looked up from balancing her packets of food, though, she saw none other than Liona Zabini, looking every bit as pleased to see the Hufflepuff as Jamie was to see her. Jamie stopped when she was nearly toe-to-toe with Liona, looking the other girl straight in the eye. “We could rock paper scissors for it.” Jamie suggested in a way that would have been humorous, if she wasn’t dead serious about the suggestion. At least then they wouldn’t waste away another fifteen minutes bickering with each other.

She had to admit, she was kind of annoyed at the fact that Greyback hadn't turned around and left once she'd seen her. And... were those snacks in her hand? She'd, apparently come prepared for a long wait. That made it easier in her mind on who should go first. At her suggestion of playing such a childish game to decide who should go first, she raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? It looks like you're all prepared for a wait anyway. You attempted first last time, it only seems fair that I get to go first this time" she gestured to the snacks that she held as she spoke. She was back to using the polite tone she had yesterday. It wasn't faked... this time. It did have a bit of boredom attached to it. Really, how hard was it supposed to be to get in, use the room, and get out? How cruel was the world that she kept running into someone when trying to complete such a simple task? "An hour, at most, and the room is all yours." She sounded as if she was bargaining with her. She wasn't. She was getting into that room first no matter what.

Jamie should have known that this wasn't going to happen without another fight. She wasn't going to lose her cool this time, though, so when Liona suggested that she got to go first, the Hufflepuff closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then nodded. She hoped that the Room realized that of the two of them, Jamie was the one who was most worthy of its time. She had prepared for this visit - she hadn't just come on a whim. She wasn't going to suggest that to Liona, though, because then she was going to get a whole lecture about how Liona was the most prepared person in the entire world, blah blah blah. "Go first." Jamie said, in case Liona hadn't gotten the message from her reluctant nod. "Are you going to come fetch me?" Jamie asked, trying (and failing) not to sound petulant in harkening back to their previous conversation.

Liona was only a little... impressed if you could call it that, that wolf girl held gaze, it never wavering from her own. She had guts, she'd give her that. She immediately took that thought back when Greyback took a deep breath and bowed out. She felt... oddly disappointed. She was ready for round two. She was ready for the fight she'd thought the girl was going to put up, mentally preparing for the onslaught of words and growing look for anger and annoyance that would cross her face. Nothing. She went silent. A look of confusion crossed her features just a moment before her next words registered in her mind. "Fetch isn't my thing. As long as you're here when I exit, the room will be yours." There was an insult lying underneath that she could have spit out. Instead, she kept herself from laughing at the unspoken words before she tilted her head sideways. "You're not putting up a fight today. Why is that? What's changed? Did you do something that will make it seem as if I've failed?" she eyed the girl curious, trying to pick up on any nonverbal language that would cue her in to any plan she'd made. She didn't expect a lot, she was a Hufflepuff after all. You never knew though.

Jamie sighed when Liona said that fetch wasn’t her thing. Was the Slytherin even going to try to hide the fact that she was making a myriad of canine-related jokes? Because Jamie could assure the other girl that she had heard them all before, at least ten times each. Since the Hufflepuff had brought her snacks, though, she was prepared to wait outside the door as long as Liona needed the room for. It wasn’t like she had any shortage of things to think about, with all of her exams coming up and her secret admirer continuing to woo her via letters. Jamie sighed again when Liona said that she wasn’t putting up a fight. “You complain when I fight you, and you complain when I don’t. Make up your mind, Zabini.” Jamie said, not at all amused with this situation but at least slightly calmer about it than she had been the day previous. “You haven’t failed.” Jamie assured the other girl, half-wondering how someone could be so suspicious and insecure. That didn’t seem like a fun way to live life. “I’m just sick of arguing.” One serious argument a month was about all Jamie could handle.

"I find it a little amusing that you believe I'm the one that's indecisive. Yesterday could have been avoided had you let me use the room first," she gave an answer to her disappointing words. She was annoyed at the fact that she made it seem as if Liona was the problem. Either way, neither of them had been successful getting into the room them because someone must have been in the room already. "You argued with me then. It's not wholly unreasonable to expect the same actions, unless it is as I had spoken and your task wasn't important enough to warrant said argument." Now she was the one becoming frustrated first. They'd wasted so much time yesterday, time she could have used to study had she found out earlier that the room had already been in use. And, yes, part of that had been her own fault because she'd continued to goad wolf girl on but had she stood aside, it could have been avoided. She breathed deeply, trying to calm herself. She didn't need the argument today. She tried to repeat that mantra to herself. "Of course I haven't failed. But have you done something so that if I try to get into the room again it would seem as if I had?"

Jamie was really wondering if Liona was trying to get into another argument. The Hufflepuff offered to give the Slytherin everything she wanted – that was, the Room of Requirement, and without a fight – and all the other girl could do was insult her? Jamie blinked at Liona listlessly, wishing that she had spent more time perfecting her glare. It worked well on her younger siblings, but not so much on people her own age. “The definition of insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting different results.” Jamie said calmly. “I am not insane, and therefore, I did not want to repeat our conversation from yesterday, since I was not pleased with the results.” Neither of them had gotten the room, and it had just been a horrible waste of time. Jamie didn’t want to waste her time again. “You overestimate my intelligence if you think I can do that.” The Hufflepuff said when the Slytherin asked if she had done something to the room to keep the other girl out. Jamie still was fuzzy on the details of how the room worked, so manipulating it to keep another person out was way beyond her skill level. Besides, while Jamie was easily frustrated, she wasn’t vindictive. Trying to keep Liona out didn’t benefit her in any way – it would just make the other girl angry.

Liona decided to bite her tongue instead of yelling at the Hufflepuff like she wanted to. She was stupid. That was it. That was settled. Clearly she couldn't hear very well either even with her wolf DNA. She took a very deep breath, inhaling, exhaling, clenching her fists as she did so to try and focus on anything but hexing her. She turned away from her in an instant before walking over to the area where the Room of Requirement door should appear for her shortly. She ignored her comment about her overestimating the girl's intelligence, which clearly she had to agree now. She took another deep breath, trying to focus her thoughts on the wall in front of her. She was suddenly nervous now, though she wasn't sure why. If the door didn't appear then clearly she'd done something to the door to make it not appear for her. She wasn't sure what but that would be the only explanation for the door not appearing now. She really needed the room to listen to those songs. She started the ritual, thinking of all of the things that she wanted the room to have for her. Endless record music library. Clock to keep track of time. A record player. A comfortable couch to sit on. She paced once, twice, three times in front of the wall. When she opened her eyes, she barely contained her fury. The door wouldn't appear. She tried again. Nothing. She tried a third time for good measure. Still nothing. "So you lied," she spoke through her concealed rage, clenching her fists again as she turned towards her.

When Liona began to pace in front of the room, Jamie decided to take the time to settle in beside where the door would be appearing, arranging her robes so that she would have as little skin as possible touching the cold flagstone floor. Nevertheless, a shiver ran involuntarily up her spine. The castle was normally a comfortable temperature, but Jamie was sitting down instead of moving, and she was also more than a little uncomfortable emotionally, so that could well be affecting her physiology. Jamie tried to tune the other girl out, but that was impossible, because instead of opening like it ought to have, the Room of Requirement remained firmly shut…And Liona was going to blame Jamie for it. The Hufflepuff’s first instinct when the Slytherin turned to her was curl her knees into her chest. With Jamie sitting and Liona standing, the blonde felt like an ant standing next to a giant. Liona could crush her, easily – or at least it seemed that way from where Jamie was looking. “I didn’t do anything!” She insisted. “The room didn’t open last time without me messing with it!” If Liona’s immediate assumption was that Jamie had done something to the room, then she must have had some sort of vendetta against the Hufflepuff, and Jamie just wasn’t going to take that lying down. When people were right to be blaming her, she would gladly take the blame, but she hadn’t done anything!

Wolf girl insisted that she didn't do anything to the room so that it wouldn't appear. She still found herself not believing her. There was literally no other reason she could think of that the room wouldn't open. Why was it not opening for her? She didn't understand and she was becoming really annoyed with the room. It was supposed to appear when people needed it most. She needed it. She was doing the ritual perfectly. She was focused on what she wanted in the room. It should have been simple. She sighed, clenching the bridge of her nose as her eyes closed in her frustration. "Something is going on here and I don't appreciate it. If you aren't doing anything, you try to get into the room," she was glaring down at the girl at this point, "If you're able to get in, I'll know you're lying." If she wasn't... well. This would be incredibly weird. She didn't believe that there was someone in the room right now; there were a lot of classes going on right now so most students were in a lecture. It would be incredibly suspicious. Two days in a row where the door wasn't opening for her? There was zero logical reasoning behind it. It would make perfect sense if someone was playing a prank on her. Or being spiteful. Neither of those option sat well with her.

Either the Slytherin didn’t realize that she had caused genuine fear in the Hufflepuff, or she didn’t care, because she didn’t back off of pushing at all. Just because Liona’s eyes were closed when she pinched the bridge of her nose didn’t mean that Jamie couldn’t feel the other girl staring her down. Jamie didn’t know what was going on any more than Liona did, but there must have been something about the two of them being there together that made the room misbehave, because Jamie had never had such problems with it before. Even when she was with another person who didn’t want to go into the room with her (or wanted to go into it after her) Jamie was still able to get into it. When Liona commanded that Jamie try to get into the room, the Hufflepuff didn’t point out that it would be stupid of her to actively try to get in in the first place. She didn’t want to draw the Slytherin’s rage if she did somehow get the room to open, even though she hadn’t tried to shut the other girl out. Jamie paced in front of the room three times, keeping her mind as blank as possible. No door showed up, which was to be expected, since Jamie hadn’t completed the ritual to the best of her abilities. She turned to the Slytherin, eyes still betraying how afraid she was of the other girl’s anger. “What do you want me to do now?” Since obviously she had been made into Liona’s lackey, it was just easier for Jamie to figure out what the Slytherin wanted so they could both be on their way.

Liona crossed her arms and watched as the girl got up and walked over towards the area where the door should appear. She was waiting for it to appear. She knew it would appear. Her foot tapped anxiously as it seemed like she was taking forever to perform the ritual to get the door open. Her mind was wandering, attempting to think of possible things she could have done to the room to make sure that it didn't open for her. Nothing came to mind; she didn't think the door could be commanded and she certainly didn't think she was magically powerful enough to change the magic of the door to make it listen to her command. Her mind went back and forth through a few possibilities before she was brought out of her mental debate at the sound of the Hufflepuf'f's voice. As she looked up and caught her eye, something registered in Liona's mind. There was fear in her eyes. She was confused by that and it showed, her brow furrowing and arms dropping just a little. She was surprised by that. Thrown off. It was a look she didn't see too often thrown in her direction and if it was it came from younger years. It made Liona uncomfortable. That in turn annoyed her. She hid it instead, sighing and uncrossing her arms completely. "Nothing. You do have the right to do as you please. I..um.." she found herself at a loss for words, still bothered by what she'd seen and yet trying not to make eye contact with her again.

Finally, finally, Liona seemed to realize that Jamie had nothing to do with the room’s peculiar behavior – and if she did have something to do with it, it was totally unintentional. Now that she had been cleared by the other girl, Jamie was ready just to go back to her common room. She hadn’t been up on the fifth floor for long, but the time that she had spent there was more stressful than she had anticipated, and definitely more stressful than was necessary for such an excursion. Liona said that she had the right to do as she pleased, and Jamie nodded. “If it’s all the same to you, I’ll be going.” The Hufflepuff said, her voice barely above a whisper. She needed some time to decompress, and find a way to be less terrified of being physically injured by the Slytherin in front of her. She still had to interact with Liona, since the other girl was a member of the GSA, so not being on horrible terms with her would only benefit Jamie in the long run. “Have a nice day, Liona.” Jamie said, voice just as quiet. She honestly didn’t care how the rest of Liona’s day went, but Jamie didn’t want to be held back and lectured about her lack of politeness, so offering the goodbye was all the cover she needed to slip away unnoticed.

She still would't look up at the frightened Hufflepuff, eyes looking at the wall where the door would appear instead. She didn't even focus on the girl when her voice barely registered, saying that she was going to leave. And she definitely didn't look up, as much as she wanted to, when the girl still managed to wish her to have a good day. She was annoyed and angry and, dare she say, she felt bad. A little. Okay maybe more than a little. She was angry because she couldn't have been that angry to the point of scaring her. Had she? And to think just the previous day she'd been so... feisty and had fire in her eyes as she'd argued with her. How is it that the next day she'd cower? It had all been unexpected, not being able to get into the Room of Requirement, running into werewolf girl. She looked up after she was sure the girl was gone, blowing out a breath of frustration and clasping her hands together tightly. She really hadn't been that mean to her! Maybe she was just really sensitive today and something happened earlier? She really didn't want to care about what was happening in the girls life. She really actually didn't care. She tried to let it go as she walked away from the area but the look in her eyes couldn't be wiped away so easily. She'd come back some other time to listen to her writer's musical suggestions.
