Theodosia had spent most of the month looking for new playthings, but at the end of the day, there was always one person who never ceased to amuse her: the Mudblood, Edmund Windsor. He was just so angry all the time, and it was delightful to watch him become frustrated with her and her taunting. And now she had new ammunition, because his little girl had been kissing another boy on the night of the Yule Ball. Theodosia had been surprised to be paying attention at the exact right moment, but she wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to harass one of her favorite (that was, least favorite) people about a touchy subject. She had been holding on to the information all through January and most of February, waiting for the right time to bring it up, but that time had never come, especially since Theodosia had been distracted by the pretty Hufflepuff girl who didn't want to kiss her. Now that the month was coming to a close, though, Theodosia knew she had to act - she didn't know when the pathetic little Mudblood would go scrambling back to his banshee of a girlfriend, and she didn't want to waste this perfect opportunity to prod Edmund. She was waiting outside of the Slytherin common room, which she had begun to think of as her and Edmund's private meeting spot, waiting for the boy to appear.

This month had not been particularly good for Ed. In fact, the last few months hadn't been. He'd broken up with Addi and sulked around for quite a bit after that. A few run-ins with some people helped that in a way, but for the most part he'd been alone, and that was how he wanted it. Edmund wasn't one to ask for pity from others or to complain about his lot in life. He knew that the situation with Addi was partly his fault and that if he wanted to fix it, he was going to have to talk with her about it but ... he didn't want to do that yet. He saw her and was thrown back mentally to that moment where she was kissing that boy, which squelched any desire he had to talk with her. One main mercy he had noticed over the last little while was that he hadn't run into Theodosia. Surely she knew about the situation with Addi; she was too observant to not know, but somehow he hadn't had to talk with her since that night.
As he thought about all this, Edmund rounded the corner that led to the common room. Then he almost groaned. Think of the devil ... and there she was. Theodosia had a look on her face that he knew well. She was waiting for him. This time Ed was going to try and hold his temper back, but he wasn't good at that, particularly around this Slytherin girl. Oh, heavens help him. He moved as if to walk by, waiting for her to stop him, but not about to start anything.

Theodosia had known that Edmund was going to come down this way eventually, but she was pleased by how quickly he had appeared after she started to wait. She grinned at Edmund as he walked towards her, raising her hand and wiggling her fingers in a hello while he continued to approach her. Theodosia considered fluttering her eyelashes, but she figured that would be a little too much… Especially since she didn’t want to accidentally unlock any memories he might have had about their last encounter, when she had kissed him. When Edmund was within comfortable speaking distance, Theodosia wasted no time in beginning to talk to him. “Hello, Eddie, darling!” She chirped happily. “Glad to see that you finally got rid of your girlfriend the hag.” Theodosia said, deciding to butter him up a little with something that could be a compliment, if you looked at it in the right way. Theo did have a reputation to uphold, though, so she quickly abandoned the idea of being too nice to Edmund. “That wasn’t really a choice on your part though, was it?” She asked, using her patented fake innocence. “It’s not really hard to find someone better than you to snog, though, Edmund, so I’m not sure why anyone is shocked by this.” People could crow about love all that they wanted, but the truth was that people would do whatever made them happiest in the moment, regardless of who they supposedly cared about.

He didn't wave back, though Ed noticed it. He wasn't going to encourage whatever Theodosia was about to do. He didn't trust her at all, of course, and didn't want to make things more "fun" for her either. Naturally, ignoring her didn't stop anything. Edmund didn't really think that it would. Nothing could stop Theodosia when she was in the mood to torment him. She started talking about Addi, calling her a hag and Ed closed his eyes briefly, not saying anything. He might not be dating Addilyn right now, but he would never be able to see her that way. He still cared for her. He shook his head as she continued on, basically saying that it was only natural for Addi to want to find someone else to snog because he couldn't be good at it. "If you're not surprised, then why do you want to talk about it," he mumbled, trying to keep his temper. He didn't really want her to answer, that was just the first thing he thought, so he said it. He almost balled his hands into fists, but knew that she would notice. No, he needed to try and look calm, even if he was seething inside.

Edmund had actually stopped in front of Theodosia, which was new. She had expected him to keep walking, but this was good. Better, even, because it meant she didn’t have to cast a spell on him to keep him rooted to the spot. Theo watched as Edmund closed his eyes at her comment about Addilyn, shaking her head a little bit to herself. The girl had cheated on him, and yet it still pained him to hear her called names? The boy needed to grow a pair and realize that Addilyn wasn’t the victim in this situation. Calling Addilyn some rude names himself would be great catharsis, but Theo didn’t think that Edmund was going to take her advice on this sort of thing. It was a shame, really. Edmund asked why she wanted to talk if she wasn’t surprised, and Theo laughed. “There are plenty of unsurprising things that still warrant a healthy discussion.” Theodosia said, though she didn’t offer any examples of any other such cases. “I actually wanted to congratulate you, Eddie dear. I would have thought that you’d be crawling back to her by now.” Addilyn had always had Edmund under her thumb, and Theo was glad to see that Edmund had actually developed something akin to independence instead of being the idiot’s pet.

All Edmund wanted to do was leave. He hated spending (wasting, more like) his time with Theodosia, but he knew that if he tried to leave, she'd jinx him or do something to keep him where she wanted him. He preferred to stay in control of himself, so he'd just wait out whatever torture she had planned for him. Apparently she wanted to talk about Addilyn. Great, so that was the torture she'd concocted for him. He took a deep breath as she explained that they could still talk about it, even though it wasn't unsurprising. He closed his eyes momentarily to keep from rolling them at her. No need to aggravate her. He gave her a slow nod when she congratulated him for not going back to Addi. "Thank you...?" he answered hesitantly. How in the blazes was he supposed to respond to something like that. Of course he missed Addi! Of course there was a part of him that wanted to talk to her and sort through everything. The smaller part of him sure- which explained why he hadn't acted on that desire- but a part of him nonetheless. Still, Theodosia didn't need to know any of that. Ed just wanted to get through this conversation without aggravating her and making things worse for himself.

Poor Edmund. He was so confused by something as simple as a compliment. It really was true, what they said about Mudbloods having inferior intelligence – Edmund was a stellar example of that. “It is too bad, though.” Theodosia continued, “That you were unable to satisfy her in any way. I know you royals are all sticks in the mud, but it seemed to be like she was looking for something… more.” Theodosia said with a suggestive smirk. It looked as if Addi was craving something more physical than emotional when she had been kissing that Gryffindor boy, though Theodosia wasn’t going to dare suggest it. Maybe Edmund was one of those people who could forgive physical infidelity if emotionally Addi was still faithful. They were fun to pick on when they were together, but apart? It was much easier, because they weren’t always trying to defend and reassure each other. “What are you going to do to her?” Theodosia asked. “To make her pay?” Surely Edmund wanted a little revenge on his ex-girlfriend? Theodosia was excellent at revenge, and she wanted to help Edmund… free of charge, even.

There it was. The insult that Edmund had been expecting to come sooner. Of course Theodoisa wouldn't have a conversation where she just insulted Addi, not that Ed liked that. "Apparently so," he responded, knowing that she'd make him answer her in some way or another. That's just the way things worked. Even so, he doubted she'd be satisfied with him merely accepting her criticism. The thing was, Edmund already thought those things. Apparently he wasn't enough, which was what he thought since the night of the Yule Ball. Then Theodosia started asking what he was going to do to Addi to make her pay and Edmund just shook his head. "I don't want to make her pay. I just ... don't want to see her or anything." Like that would help his case. Maybe Theodosia would see that as him punishing her, but really Edmund just needed time. Granted, he already had plenty of time, but seeing Addi made him all confused and angry and he was trying to get away from that and move on. Trying and failing.

Edmund said that he didn’t want to make Addilyn pay for what she had done to him, and Theodosia made a disgusted face at him. “Are you a Slytherin or not?” She snapped at him. Slytherins were supposed to be ruthless and cunning, and Edmund couldn’t even find it in him to harbor a little ill will towards his girlfriend? He was even more pathetic than Theodosia had originally thought. The Slytherin girl let out a long-winded sigh. “If you won’t punish her, then I will.” Theodosia finally decided. “Because you know, Eddy dear, I consider you my friend – well, at least for now – and that’s the sort of things that friends do for each other.” If pretending to be friends with Edmund for the entire duration of that sentence was the price that Theodosia had to pay in order to have a genuine reason to harass Addilyn, then Theodosia was going to play it gladly. If she were to get in trouble for it – and she doubted that would even happen – then she could say that she was just being mean on Edmund’s orders. It was a win-win.

Edmund rolled his eyes at Theodosia, done with her attitude. "Being a Slytherin doesn't mean you always have to look for chances to get revenge, you know. Besides, how do you know that me avoiding her isn't making her pay? We used to do everything together and now I'm not acknowledging her at all." It was true, but Edmund was only saying this to try and get Theodosia to leave Addi alone. He was angry as heck at her, but he knew Theodosia's methods and didn't want her to torment Addi. He shook his head when she said they were friends. That was an outright lie and both of them knew it. "I don't believe you for one second," he told her bluntly. "Just leave Addilyn alone," he muttered, done with this conversation. He didn't want to have anything to do with Addi, but he didn't want her to get into trouble because of him either. Maybe he'd tell Grey to keep an eye out for her ... that would be a good plan. As soon as he was done with this.

Theodosia curled her lip when Edmund started preaching about what it meant to be a Slytherin. “Being a Slytherin means that when someone offers you a chance for revenge, you take it.” She replied. Maybe Edmund didn’t have to go looking for it, but Theodosia had offered, and she definitely didn’t like it when her offers were refused. That was happening too much lately. Edmund said something about his lack of presence being punishment enough for Addi, and Theodosia rolled her eyes. Maybe the cold shoulder was annoying for the girl, but that would be nothing like knowing that her ex-best friend and ex-boyfriend hated her. “Fine.” Theodosia snapped when Edmund commanded that she leave Addilyn alone. How boring could he be? “Just know that protection comes at a price, Edmund, darling.” Theodosia said with a smirk. She hadn’t yet decided what the price would be for Edmund, but he would figure out soon enough that she wasn’t just going to stay away at his say-so. She wasn’t his pet, and she answered to no one except the Dark Lady herself. Theodosia turned to enter the common room, mind already full of dark thoughts of the price that Edmund was going to pay.
