Yadiel shook his head at her apology, saying that she didn't have anything to worry about from him and Ev gave a small smile. "Well thanks," she responded softly. It was kind of nice to have someone who wasn't upset at her for the whole thing. A few days after her row with Dustin, she went to her parents, deciding to tell them about everything, but she forgot that her parents had a subscription to the Wizard Papers. They knew all about her secret engagement with Rocco and they were upset at her too. Sure, her parents let her explain to them why she did what she did and all, but they were still angry at her. Evelyn could feel it. She expected it, even, after how angry Dustin was with her. "And thank you for listening." It seemed like Yadiel was frustrated with her saying she couldn't go to Dustin ... but Ev was convinced that he didn't understand. Him seeing Dustin was alright (and obviously he'd done so since he knew how upset Dustin was), but she knew that going to Dustin wouldn't help and was terrified that if she did she'd make things worse. Her eyes widened when Yadiel explained that Dustin was running himself into the ground. "I want to talk with him," Ev answered. "I want to explain everything, but I'm scared I'll make things worse." She looked back down at the table. "I'm not good with people. Most people I chase away within a few days, maybe weeks if we see one another sparingly. Dustin is the only friend I've ever had that truly got to know me and didn't leave ...." Ev couldn't finish her thought, that if she wasn't careful she'd lose him to. She couldn't say it out loud, but was almost certain that Yadiel would understand the implication. He seemed to be good at that.

Evelyn stated that she didn't want to go to Dustin because she thought that she might make things worse. His brow was furrowed as he listened to her speak and he was a bit shocked. Maybe the kid had been right, maybe he was a bad friend. Just based on what she was saying it definitely seemed that way to him. He wouldn't say that straight out to the kid though especially now. How could she make it worse just by explaining her side of things? He figured that if they both listened and tried to understand things from each others' point of view that they would be able to settle things like adults and move on from it if they cared about their friendship. But again, they were both young and being young made things complicated as always. She was being really critical of herself and he was rather upset about it. He was upset for her. How many people had come into her life, hurt her, and left for to think that way about herself? Who was it that made her feel she wasn't good with people? Who was it that made her feel like people wouldn't want to stick around her if they knew 'the real her'? He was trying to calm himself, he didn't want to make her feel that his anger was directed toward her. So he took another sip of his tea instead, the liquid was still warm so it heated his inner core and made him relax a bit. When she paused her thought, he had to take another breath. It was to the point where she thought that she would lose Dustin too. And he couldn't say for certain if that's what Dustin wanted to do but he thought that the seeker cared about her enough to want to remain friends with her. He was going to tell her that everything would work out. He thought everything would work out anyway. He changed his mind though. "Alright. Take your time. Do whatever you feel is best for you, whatever that may end up being. Don't just think about him though. Think about yourself too." he ended up saying instead. She was more hurt than anything because she cared about what he thought of her. He couldn't help but think of how differently things would have been had he been in that postion, though he could never imagine himself being in that postion. He would be more angry than hurt.

Ev couldn't read Yadiel. She really hadn't spent enough time with him to be able to tell what he thought about all the things she told him. She expected he was annoyed with her for not wanting to go to Dustin, but was relieved that he wasn't among the people who were annoyed at her for her secret. So when a short time passed between her words and his, she tried to tell what he was thinking, but it was impossible. She did notice something was off, but couldn't tell what it was. Was he angry? Annoyed? At her or someone else? It was pointless. Ev looked at the cup of tea in her hands. It was almost empty, so she finished it right before he spoke once more. She was surprised at his advice. To do what was best for her, to think about Dustin, but also about herself. Ev blinked, surprised by that advice. She hadn't even thought of that, other than thinking of what she needed to do to care for herself physically. Was there something she wasn't doing that she could do to help herself? She nodded. "I will. I'll think about myself." It seemed a strange request, but Evelyn would try and see if that helped. She looked up at her captain curiously. "How is the team?" she realized that up until that moment, all she really thought about was herself and Dustin, but this didn't just affect the two of them. How was the team doing since her accident?

He nodded at her when she assured him that she would. He personally thought it would be much harder for her to do that than just a simple affirmation but he really hoped she did consider herself when she finally did speak to Dustin. With everything she had told him, Dustin's anger was starting to seem more irrational. And considering that the two of them hadn't even been able to talk things through without their emotions getting in the way, he could only imagine that it would happen again before things finally got settled. He took another sip of his tea just as she asked how the team was. He snorted. "Honestly it'll be better once you're back," he started as he sat his cup down. "I'm just glad that we don't have a game coming up soon. We need more practice. All of us." he looked at her pointedly. When she got back they were going to train hard to make sure that nothing like that happened again or if it did, they had a contingency plan of some sort to compensate for a missing player temporarily. Relying on the reserved players had been hard and even though they practiced together they still didn't make up for the balance they had going with all of the regular players. "That's not me rushing you, it's just the honest truth. You're integral to the team," he commented calmly before adding, "Don't let that go to your head either." He didn't laugh when he said it but he did mean it jokingly of course.

The hard part was over. Evelyn could hardly believed that she just talked through all her struggles and issues with her team captain. It wasn't a bad thing, just definitely not what she expected to do when she got his owl asking her to meet him. Granted, when she got that owl she didn't know what to expect at all. She basically was just hoping that he wasn't going to kick her off the the team. And now ... he knew more than anyone did about her emotional state. It was a strange realization, but at the same time a huge relief to know that someone understood where she was coming from.
She couldn't help but smile when he snorted at her question. She nodded, understanding that he wanted her back. She wanted to be back, missed the pitch and her teammates and just the thrill of the game. But she also understood that she needed to be in a better state of mind before coming back. She bit her lip, a part of her wanting to apologize, but for what? For not being able to come back yet. "I'll train hard as soon as I get back," she promised, though she hoped he knew she would anyway. Ev always worked hard at her job, that went without saying, but she knew she'd need to get back in the swing of things after being out for three weeks. She nodded, when he said he wasn't rushing her, then started to feel warm when he said she was important. "I know you're not rushing me, and thank you," she answered humbly. She offered a small smile at his next comment. Evelyn wasn't one to let things go to her head, so that definitely wouldn't be a problem for her.

Her words and nod of understanding were really all he could ask for so he gave a sharp nod back in return. He'd already known without her saying it though that she would because he knew she loved her position and the team enough. He was proud to say that his team members had as much commitment to the team as they showed; it made it easier for him to be captain. Sometimes anyway. She thanked him once again and he shook his head, figuring she knew what he would say. She didn't have to thank him for something so small. He took his cup and finished off the rest of his tea, though there wasn't too much of it left at this point anyway with his constant sipping. He hated wasting good tea so he always finished his cups. "Alright, I'm heading out. I hope I see you in a week. If not owl me and we'll go from there," he stood up from his chair and walked his cup back to the counter, thanking the cashier for the tea. Once that was done, he walked back over to the table. He gave a two finger salute and walked out of the door of the tea shop. His talk with Evelyn had gone much better than the one he'd had with Dustin. Now that he knew everything about what happened, he didn't want to take sides but everything Evelyn had said made sense. Now she just had to get that information to Dustin and Yadi knew how that would go in the kid's current state of frustration and loathing. Yadi shook his head as he headed back home.

Ev was glad that Yadiel accepted her words without question or concern. It was a relief to know that he trusted her to come back and do her job to the best of her abilities. Of course, that was what she planned on doing, but she appreciated the fact that he accepted that. She watched him shake his head as she thanked him and then he finished her tea. Ev looked down at the cup in her hands, surprised when she realized that hers was close to being gone. Ev nodded quickly when he said he was leaving. "I'll be there," she answered simply. Ev would feel better by then and she had no intention of missing more practice than she had to. She missed the team. She sipped the the rest of her tea as he went and paid for it. At his salute she nodded and downed the last of her tea. She needed to go home and sleep. For the first time in the last week and a half she felt like she'd be able to get a decent night's race.
