Ed was wandering around the grounds, feeling a little bit more cheerful today than he normally did, though he wasn't exactly sure why. He just woke up this morning, happier than he'd felt in a long while. At least, it was the happiest he'd woken up. Around his friends he felt happier most of the time, but this was the first time he woke up feeling this way. It was before breakfast, but Ed couldn't help but wander outside, a smile on his face. It didn't hurt that he didn't notice anyone else around. He was glad. If no one else was here, then no one else could ruin his good mood. After a while he sat down on a rock, closing his eyes and enjoying the peaceful atmostphere.

@edmund ripley hummed to a song in her head as she walked along one of the paths that led from the lake to the castle. she'd spent some time walking along the shore, her feet in the water now the weather was warming up. there was something refreshing about walking out and about with no shoes on her feet, though she'd held them in her hands and was wearing them again, she'd enjoyed those few moments of her feet being free. she took in a deep breath as she stopped, spotting a familiar figure sitting on a rock and facing the opposite direction of her. she smiled and started to walk toward him again. she tucked her arms against her chest as she walked up. "sitting out here alone ed, that's not like you." she said with a teasing greeting as she moved to sit down on the rock next to him. she hoped that she wouldn't annoy him by sitting down but she'd quite happily leave if he didn't feel like talking. they'd been friends for long enough that she could understand that sometimes he just didn't want to be around people and she'd grown up with a brother like that, so she could understand.

What Ed did not expect was to be taken by surprise when someone approached him. How did they get so close without him hearing them? At the sound of a familiar voice, he turned around quickly to see Ripley Krum approaching. He knew her. They'd been friends for a while and knew one another from quidditch. She teased him about sitting on his own before sitting beside him. Ed smiled back at her, lifting an eyebrow teasingly. "How would you know? Just because you've never seen me out here ..." he trailed off suggestively. He did come out on his own quite frequently, but she was right when she said he didn't often sit on his own. Most of the time he just walked around until he was tired. The difference today was that he wanted to relax and enjoy his good mood. "So what brings you out here today?" he asked after a few more moments.
