She said she'd wait out front and he nodded, darting inside. He was afraid partly that she would ditch him, but he hoped that wasn't the case. He changed into cleaner clothes and quickly made himself not smell like such a gross mess, but didn't take a shower or anything because they were just going back on the pitch anyway. He put most of his practice stuff aside, but brought his broom with him, of course, since they were going back out there! He stepped back out in about eight minutes, smiling with relief to see that she hadn't ditched him. He moved to the window where she was and stood in front of her. "Sorry, took a bit longer," he said softly, glancing down the hall. "Do you have a broom or should we get one out of the closet? I have the keys," he added. He was the captain of the team, after all, so he had that kind of important stuff.

Kinsey waited by the window, relieved when no one approached her. She was starting to lose her earlier tension and was excited to go and learn some new tricks on a broom. She stared out the window at the grounds while she waited. There was something soothing to her about watching other people as they walked around on the grounds. Being unable to know their intentions made that even better because she could just enjoy herself and imagine things were always good for them. It wasn't too long before Ethan was back, apologizing. She smiled up at him, "I didn't even notice," she said with a shrug. At his question, she shook her head, "No, I don't have a broom, so getting one out of the closet's probably a good idea," or else she wouldn't have anything else to use. "Let's go," she said, starting to move along ... she was too excited just to stand there.

She said she didn't have a broom and he nodded, "alrighty!" He started to move along with her. They had a few floors to go, so he would use this time to learn a little but about how she was on a broom. "So, is there any position you think you'd be best at? Just so we can focus on some tricks and skills there first, or maybe a position you're most familiar with?" he started. "There are a lot of tricks that have nothing to do with the game itself, so I can show you a lot of over arching ones too, of course, just trying to decide where to start. I'm a chaser, as you know, but I'm also Captain so I have to know a lot about the other positions," he paused. He was doing that blabbing thing because he was getting passionate again. That was a common thing when it came to Quidditch.

His enthusiasm was contagious and Kinsey wondered why she hadn't ever tried to talk with him before. Actually ... she knew why. He was a few years older than her and had lots of friends and she was often quite shy. He started by asking her some questions and Kinsey thought for a moment. "Well ... maybe a chaser," she said hesitantly. Really, that's what she wanted to be and she had pretty good hand-eye coordination, but she knew that was Ethan's position and that he was amazing so she felt unsure. "Or maybe a keeper." Definitely not a beater though ... or a seeker. That was Dustin's job. She nodded when he started suggesting they could focus on some things for that position, or whichever one she was interested in. She liked how excited he got talking about Quidditch. "I'm willing to try out whatever you want to show me," she told him honestly.

Kinsey was very receptive, and easy to talk to. She spoke about how she could be a chaser, or a keeper and he grinned. "Keeper is actually my back up position," he told her. "It looks like we will make a food teacher-student duo," he added happily. She said she was willing to learn whatever he wanted to teach and he nodded happily. "Great! Keeper and chaser are actually pretty similar, in that they are mainly there to catch and release the quaffle," he explained. "So, we will probably work on some catching technique first. Not as intricate as seeking though," he chuckled, "as I'm sure Dustin could tell you. Seeking is a much more... Artful part of Quidditch, and very, very focused. You almost have to ignore the rest of the game as you probably have noticed."

Kinsey's smile widened when he said that Keeper was his back up position. He had a back up position? She offered a small smile, "If I turn out to be any good at the positions," she responded with a smile to show she wasn't entirely serious. She watched him, fascinated as he started to explain that one of the main things about keeping and chasing was catching the ball. That made sense. She nodded vigorously. "I like that idea," she told him. Mostly she just wanted anything he could give her that might get her on the team next year. Since he was team captain, he probably had some very good tips. She nodded, "Yeah, Dustin doesn't normally seem to pay much attention to what everyone else is doing," she agreed, though she also knew that he had to keep an eye out for the score. He'd told her once that as seeker, he had to make sure his team had enough points to win and move up in the league ... or something like that.

She liked the idea of chasing and catching the ball, which made him smile. Maybe she could even be on the team someday. "Well, the seeker doesn't necessarily have to... either way, he is good at what he does," he commented on Dustin, closing the topic for now. They made it down to the broom closet and he opened it. "They aren't the best brooms in here, but I suggest..." he looked her up and down, gauging her size, before picking one out and handing it to her, "what do you think? Good fit?" he asked, trying to get her thoughts on it.

Kinsey smiled when Ethan agreed with her. Seeking was a cool position, she just didn’t think she could do it. That and the fact that she didn’t want people to compare her with Dustin. No, it was best if there was only one seeker in the family. She was positive of that. ”Yes, he is,” she agreed when Ethan complimented her brother. Ethan chose a broom for her and Kinsey took it, looking at it a little more closely, ”Yes, I think this one will work just fine,” she answered, smiling up at him. ”Is there anything else we need to do before we start?” Kinsey wasn’t normally one to be reckless, but she was excited for this. Nervous to be practicing with the Ravenclaw Team Captain for sure, but excited at the opportunity all the same.

She accepted the broom, smiling more and more by the minute, This was a great idea! He shook his head when she asked what else they would need. "We'll work without the balls for today, just to try and get the technique down first," he explained. He led her out onto the pitch and mounted his broom, kicking off to float a few feet above her. "Let's start with you just showing me some things that you know," he explained, starting to lift higher as he waited for her to join him in the air. He spun around a bit once he started lifting higher, just enjoying the wind in his face as usual.

Kinsey nodded, her excitement still rising as Ethan said they should work without the balls today. "Okay," she said, surprised at how enthusiastic she felt. "Thanks again for being willing to help me," she told him, still feeling a bit nervous about flying in front of him, but Ethan was nice and she sensed only good things from him. Once they were outside, she got on her broom and flew up. Kinsey was steady in the air, but she wasn't sure exactly what Ethan wanted her to do. "Like what?" she asked, confused. Did he want her to just fly or ....?

She thanked him again and he just nodded, "sure," he said shyly. He wasn't super good at accepting thank yous or compliments, so it was easier to just make it not a big deal. She flew up to meet him and she has what he wanted from her. "Just fly! Show me speed, or any different ways you fly on a broom - if there's any. Maybe if you can fly upside down, things like that. Just things you already know how to do so we can build from there," he explained.

Well this was awkward. Kinsey couldn't help but feel somewhat like an idiot when Ethan asked her to just fly around. At least there weren't lots of people around to watch. That made it a little bit easier, but she still felt strange having the instruction to simply show her flying. Kinsey nodded, "Alright." She took a deep breath before speeding off to the other side of the pitch, going straight at first and then pretending like she was dodging other players. She leaned close to the broom when she wanted to move faster, and made sure to show some sharp turns, a small dive, hanging on with one hand. She still kind of felt like an idiot, but her hope was that she didn't look like one. She went to the other end of the pitch and then returned to where Ethan was, shrugging nervously. "What do you think?" she asked hesitantly.

Ethan flew as well, but he was mostly just watching her. She was fast, and her sharp turns were impressive. Her balance was very good, which probably was in part because she was so small. He's sped over to her after a moment, watching her closer before she return to him. She asked what he thought and he nodded, "well, your size is definitely a help to you. And you should use it as much as possible. It looks like you already are, he started to explain, but you could use it even more. Come on, try this." He led her back towards the goal posts, and flew so he was blocking the center one. Try to get past me and go in between the posts."It's not a big amount of space, but in a crisis moment as a chaser, you could potentially get past the keeper and throw the ball through the hoop as you fly in between the different posts. Give it a try." He got in position, leaning forward a little bit on his broom to prepare himself.

Kinsey couldn't tell what Ethan was doing as she flew, but he was watching and that made her nervous. Once she was next to him, waiting for his response it felt like the nerves were getting worse. What was he going to say? She nodded when he said that her size was a big strength. She was about to ask how when he told her to "try this," implying he was about to show her something. She bit her lip and nodded when he told her to try and get past him. He flew into place and Kinsey took a deep breath before she zipped forward as quick as she could, dipping her broom and trying to twist to the left as she went up so she could get in between him and the left goal post. She didn't have a ball, so she pretended to toss one and then paused. Did she do that right? She started to look around for Ethan.

He watched her go and grinned, applauding for a moment as she turned to face him. "That's good! You are fast," he reiterated. "I think that we might benefit from doing a little racing. You did well with that," he added again. He flew over to her and gestured for her to line up next to him. "Fly at an angle downward, aiming at the center line," he said, pointing to the middle of the field, "then complete the V by going up. First one to touch the center goalpost on the other side wins. Ready?" as soon as she confirmed she was ready he would count. "Three, two, one, Go!" and he started flying, fast.
