He was grinning. That had to be a good sign right? Unless he was just ridiculously nice and would grin at her no matter how well or poorly she did. Hopefully that wasn't the case because that would sink when she went to try out next year. Her mouth dropped when Ethan mentioned that they should do some racing. He wanted to trace with her? As in, she actually might stand some sort of a chance in a race with him? She lined up beside him as he indicated and nodded as he explained what they were going to do. She tightened get grip on her brim, realizing that it wasn't likely she would win. Not necessarily because of talent. Mostly because he had a good broom and she had a lame school broom. "Ready?" she answered immediately at his question, moving her broom as fast as she could when he said go. She was so caught up in her own speed that she didn't pay attention to him. At least, not really. She knew he was close, could see his shadow, but she was so focused on herself that she didn't realize is he was behind our in front of her. Once she reached the goal past she stopped, looking around and breathing a little heavier than normal.

She said ready, and they sped off when he gave it a go. He wasn't one to pull any punches, or let anyone win just to make them feel better. He knew that she would benefit the most from seeing how she faired against him. He didn't watch her, but instead just focused on his own speed. He hit the center point that he had pointed out, and sped up towards the goal post, slowing down just a tiny bit at the end to grab hold of one of the posts and spin around it. Only a few seconds later his opponent arrived. She looked around as if trying to find him and he gave a little wave, one hand still resting on the goal post. "You did a good job! Looks like I win this round," he laughed. Not in a condescending way, but just was joy and amusement.
"Let's do one more thing today," he suggested. He nodded toward the stands, "sometimes players can get caught up under the stands. Follow me exactly, see how you do with all the beams. We won't go too fast today," he explained, giving her a nod before speeding off into the stands.

Alright, so he was faster than she was. It wasn't really the end of the world, but Kinsey felt a bit disappointed. She hoped she'd be able to impress him by flying quickly, but apparently that wasn't going to happen today. He complimented her, saying she did good, but that he won and Kinsey smiled at him and nodded. It wasn't like she could argue with any of that. He definitely did beat her.
He said they should do one more thing and Kinsey nodded again, listening intently as he explained what he was thinking. "Okay, that sounds good," she said, trying to follow right behind him. Apparently school brooms really weren't much good compared to others. She would have to keep that in mind if she decided to try out next year. Or maybe she should test out all the brooms here and figure out which was the best. That might help. She didn't know where exactly she was going though, so Kinsey stayed as close to Ethan as she could.

Ethan led Kinsey through fairly slowly, since it could be dangerous if she smacked against the would. After a while he turned back out onto the pitch. He looked over at her to assess her, she looked okay for the most part but needed a much better broom! And practice. You could do anything with any broom if you practiced enough. "I think that's good for today! Good work. This was fun," he said with a pleasant nod before slowly circling to the ground again.
@kinsey (End this on your post?)

Flying through the woodwork wasn't particularly fun, but it also wasn't impossible. Kinsey could tell that Ethan was going a little more slowly than normal, just like he said he would, and she was glad. She could see how it would be difficult to rush through this. Then they were done and Ethan was telling her that she did well and it was fun. Kinsey smiled at him. "Thanks Ethan, I really did enjoy this," she answered, then started to follow him back down to the ground. At least she could do decently at this. Maybe by next year she would actually be able to perform on the same level as some people on the team. That was the hope anyway. She was glad to have someone that was willing to work with her on it, even if it was just once. ---the end--- @ghostethan
