[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @georgiana words 193 notes finally yes. | Cameron needed a snack after dinner. He had been reading in the common room when his stomach started growling. He sighed and closed his book. He got up and with his book in his hand made his way out and down to the kitchens. He tried to be quiet, though it wasn’t after curfew yet, he didn’t want to bother other people. He walked slow not having to get there too quickly. He yawned when his feet hit the floor of the Great Hall. He made his way to the dungeons which held the kitchens. He tickled the pear and made walked into the kitchens. He smiled at the house elves who greeted him saying a quick hello to them all. He asked them if they didn’t mind if he grabbed some cereal and made himself a bowl. Of course, they wanted to do it for him but he said he could. When he tried to go over there a house elf beat him to it and made the bowl of cereal himself. He smiled and said thank you. Next time he would just have to be faster so he could make it.

The kitchens were close enough to the Hufflepuff dormitory that Georgie had begun to consider them the domain of Hufflepuff house long ago. Sometimes she used the kitchens as an alternative to the common room, to hang out or do homework without her housemates peering over her shoulder. It seemed more than one person had figured out that her and Lance’s mother had returned to America, and she could also do without the pitying looks, thank you very much. Georgie had brought her bag and books into the kitchens, hovering near the entrance so that she wouldn’t disturb the house elves too much with her presence. They seemed to understand that she didn’t want to be spoken to, and continued bustling around with their after-dinner cleanup and preparation for the next morning’s meal. A boy walked in through the door, asking for a bowl of cereal. He seemed shocked that the house elves got to it before he did, and Georgie blinked at him. “They like to help.” She stated bluntly before looking back down at his book.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @gerogiana words 217 notes anything here. | Cameron had brought his book with him to the kitchens. He had planned to read it while eating and chatting with the house elves. He was great at multitasking. He did like spending time in here with the house elves. Before he came to Hogwarts he had never seen one up close and enjoyed talking to them. They had told him when he first got to Hogwarts and hanged out down here that not all house elves had been free and that some still aren’t. It depended on what house you went to. They told him how they liked it working at Hogwarts and how the students have always been kind to them. It was a history lesson Cameron enjoyed listening to. Cameron always planned to read a book down here but he never did. He got too interested listening to the house elves that all his attention was on them.
A voice behind him had him turned around. A smile came to his lips as he saw Georgie standing there. Yeah I know. I just thought for once I could make it and save them the trouble he said. He didn’t know if he sounded crazy or what. Well to him he didn’t, to another student he wasn’t sure. He guessed it depended on the student.

It wasn’t until Cameron turned around that Georgie recognized him, but it didn’t much change her features from the politely bored expression that she had assumed upon speaking for the first time. Cameron was one of the few people in the school that Georgie had decided was not bad, but that didn’t really mean much to her, beyond the fact that she didn’t go out of her way to harm him… which she didn’t do anyways, given that she wasn’t an ass or a bully. Friendship was still something she was working on, though, which meant that she needed to get better at talking beyond just making statements vaguely related to the situation they were in. Cameron said that he wanted to save the house elves the trouble, and Georgie shrugged her shoulders. “What troubles one person is a blessing to another.” She said, attempting to be sage. It was a comment along the same vein of one man’s trash being another man’s treasure – the notion that what was a burden to someone would be a boon to someone else. “It’s not like it’s troubling to pour milk and cereal into a bowl anyways.” Georgie said with an attempt at a smile to show she was kidding around.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @georgiana words 000 notes anything here. | Cameron knew Georgie. They were friends so he knew her facial expressions well. He knew she was happy though sometimes it didn’t show. He figured it was hard for her to show her feelings. He shrugged at her statements. Yeah I know. I guess I just like doing things for myself sometimes. They do a lot for us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That spread is always amazing so I know they work hard he said. He took a bite and smiled at her. So what are you doing here? Wanted a late night snack yourself he asked her with a smile on his face. He noticed the book and tilted his head. Like to read when you eat he asked. Cameron liked to write in his notebook journal while he was eating, though this time he didn’t bring it with him, which was odd for Cameron since it went everywhere with him.

Georgie could relate to wanting to be independent sometimes. Or, like all the time. Pretty much the only person who she trusted to do anything for her, and be there all the time, was Lance. She had friends, and a boyfriend, but if there was something that the last six months had showed her, it was that even love that looked like it could be forever (like the love of a parent) could end. Lance had proven through the last sixteen years that he wasn’t going anywhere. Georgie was trying not to make this whole thing a metaphor for her life, but it was rather difficult considering her only goals for the rest of the year were to pass her O.W.L.s and try to figure out what exactly had happened to her since the start of the school year. It was enough to make her head hurt. Cameron asked what she was doing in the kitchens, though his guesses were both woefully wrong. “Just wanted a change of scenery while doing homework.” She said, glancing back down at her book. “The common room and library are both too crowded for my taste.” Of course, the kitchens were crowded, too, but unlike humans, elves were content to leave her alone once they realized she had everything she wanted or needed.
