She was actually not nearly as nervous as she was before their first meeting, her's and Jamie's. There were multiple reasons behind that, the biggest mostly being that she didn't know if she should expect anything out of this meeting. Jamie had owled her about meeting at the carnival to spend some time together. Or to hang out. Or to see each other. Liona wasn't sure which one. Was this a date? She didn't know but she didn't want to get her hopes up nor did she want to go into the meeting with any expectations lest she ruin it or embarrass herself. It had been almost two weeks since she'd heard from the blonde. Almost two week since their first meeting and almost two weeks since she'd received that follow up letter saying that it had been 'nice to see her'. She hadn't been expecting that. It was so impersonal after all they'd shared in their letters. So Liona had tried to get over it, figuring that Jamie had no longer been interested. And now here she was, showing up for her anyway at her request. She hand her hands clasped behind her back as she stood at the beginnings of the carnival, waiting to see if she could catch a glimpse of the blonde girl. She really hoped she didn't come out looking like a fool after all of this.

Jamie was going on a date. A real date. She couldn’t remember the last time that had happened. Most of her relationship with Will was conducted through owls, not through face-to-face interaction, and she hardly counted their New Year’s Eve wanderings as a date. And then there was a Harper, from whom she had been physically separated for two months before they officially broke up. Jamie was certain that it had been at least six months, probably more like eight, since she had been on a proper date with anyone. Naturally, she had prepared, scoping out the carnival beforehand so that when it came time she could Liona through confidently. Jamie was beginning to feel better about the whole Liona situation, now that she had gotten more time to digest everything and get over her initial fears. Now she just needed to let the Slytherin know that, especially considering the Hufflepuff’s owl after their first meeting – which Jamie didn’t count as a date, since it had been so… awkward – had been short. Extremely short. Jamie made her way back to the front of the carnival, and it wasn’t difficult to spot the Slytherin whom she had been waiting for. “Liona!” Jamie called, beckoning the other girl further into the carnival so that they could meet.

Liona had been waiting patiently for Jamie and trying not to think too much when she heard the sound of her name ring out behind her. Behind her? She turned around only to see that Jamie was already in the carnival. Jamie was here, she'd actually shown up and she didn't look hesitant to see her. And there were the nerves that had been missing since she'd arrived. She gave a small smile and waved at the blonde, taking a deep breath before trying to calm herself. She really wanted this to go well but she didn't want to just be the polite person that she had been during their first meeting. Not that she didn't plan on being polite. She approached the blonde slowly, not stopping until she was standing arms length from her and spoke. "It's nice to see you again, Ms. Greyback," she said politely though her pulse was pounding from a mixture of those nerves and her happiness. Too many things came to mind of what she wanted to do and she had to stomp them down because this was only the beginning of their excursion. "Glad you owled." Just those three words were filled with so much that she could have been embarrassed. She was trying not to be embarrassed, trying not to embarrass herself.

Luckily the Slytherin had heard the Hufflepuff’s crowd over the chatter of the crowd, and Liona began to near Jamie. She was in conversational distance in due time, and the first words out of her mouth were that it was nice to see her again. But not nice to see you, Jamie. Ms. Greyback. Jamie hated that name, and was beginning to hate it more by the say. She had gotten over her strange obsession with wanting her father dead, but the whole situation made her realize just how uneasy she was with the prospect that her mother had forced her to take her father’s surname in an attempt to protect her in the Wizarding world. Now that she was nearly ready to leave Hogwarts, Jamie didn’t fancy herself as needing protection. But she was also so obsessed with trying to make the name mean something good, and… Jamie sighed. This was complicated. “Normally when someone asks you on a date, they don’t like it when you use their last name.” Jamie chided gently, not wanting Liona to see (or know) of all of the thoughts running through her head at the mention of her name. “I’m glad that I owled, too.” Jamie said, trying to convey to Liona that she was making a real effort to make this less awkward. She began walking towards where the games were, and stopped in her tracks when she saw something she didn’t remember from her wanderings earlier: an arm wrestling booth. “I wonder if my Quidditch muscles will come to any use.” Jamie said, staring at the booth. Maybe that would be a good way to break the ice - Liona watching her lose. “Come with me?” She entreated Liona, sidling up to the arm wrestling booth and looking the strong man in the face. “I’m a werewolf, you know.” She said as the man extended his hand for the arm wrestling. Apparently he didn’t like speaking, because the man didn’t say anything more as Jamie put her hand in his.

She had certainly not been expecting the first words full sentence to come out of Jamie's mouth to be what it was and her eyebrows shot up in surprise for more reason than one. For the most part, Liona tended to used people's last name to convey politeness so she hadn't really thought much about calling Jamie by her last name. She hadn't known what to expect in this meeting so she figured sticking with politeness would be the best option. That is until she said what she said and it was yet another reason she had been surprised. She had said 'date'. So her intentions in owling her had been for this to be a date. It was a date. Liona was on a date with Jamie. She tried not to let her thoughts over power her and her surprised transformed into a shy smile. "I apologize, Jamie," she giggled a bit and tried not to be too dreamy. She was... happier. She felt lighter. And she couldn't stop it. Her smile continued when Jamie said she was glad she'd owled too and Liona nodded. Following behind Jamie she quietly surveyed the carnival, noting that it was relatively busy and quite lively with the amount of people moving around to check out the multitude of booths and rides. When Jamie stop, her eyes followed to where she was looking and she shrugged at the girl's question. The gentleman at the booth did look relatively strong. "Sure. His muscles might just be for show anyway," she commented as she followed Jamie over to the booth. As the blonde sat down, she made a comment about being a werewolf to the gentleman and Liona couldn't help but snicker. Her werewolf DNA could give her an advantage; Liona didn't necessarily know how it worked though. Her confidence and smack talk were cute though. Liona stood near and waited for the match to begin.

Liona took her gentle criticism and made the necessary adjustment, and Jamie greeted the Slytherin’s shy smile with one of her own. This was much better. Even if it was kind of awkward, it was more of the ‘young love’ awkward than the ‘I might hate you’ awkward. The latter had no place on dates, as far as Jamie was concerned. Luckily, the other girl didn’t seem to have a problem with Jamie’s curiosity with the strong man and the arm wrestling. Jamie gave Liona a dubious look when the other girl said that the muscles could all be for show. She somehow doubted that someone could get muscles that big without doing at least some strengthening exercises… unless there was a whole different section of magic that Jamie was unaware of. The match against the strong man began, and Jamie tried not to focus too hard on it. She was, after all, here on a date with Liona, not with the strong man. He seemed to be taking it easy on Jamie, or hadn’t yet started using his full strength. Jamie wasn’t able to budge his arm from the upright position, but neither was the man able to move her arm, either. Maybe her mentioning being a werewolf was giving him some sort of psychological block? When she was human, Jamie didn’t have any special skills… unless you counted pissing cats off as a special skill. After a few seconds at an impasse, the Hufflepuff glanced over at her date. “Want to give me a kiss for good luck?” Jamie asked Liona innocently.

The match began and Liona watched curiously. As far as she could tell anyway, the match had began but neither the man's or Jamie's arms moved. With a look a the man's arm she could see that veins were bulging out and Liona nodded in amusement and awe at Jamie's strength. It was quite possible that the man had a charm on him to make him look stronger but considering that Liona could actually see his veins working he really was strong and Jamie was equally as strong it seemed. Seconds went by and there was still no movement in either direction of their arms. Liona continued to watch in amusement, an eyebrow raised waiting for the excitement to pick up and the match to move forward when Jamie spoke to her. She asked for a kiss. For good luck. Once again, Liona couldn't contain her surprise and her eyebrows raised once again in surprise. It wasn't a big deal. It was a simple kiss. And she definitely wanted it. Jamie still had to concentrate on the match so Liona didn't want to do anything to distract her from it. So instead of kissing her as she'd always imagined, Liona leaned over and gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "I'm impressed already but luck in hopes that you win," she giggled. She was so giggly now, a definite change from what she had been before she'd seen Jamie. An absolute change from what she had been the previous week of not hearing from her at all. She should control herself better. She continued watching the match with her hands clasped in front of her, her want for Jamie to win chanting in her head.

Jamie was more than delighted when Liona agreed to give her a kiss, in hopes that the Hufflepuff would win. Apparently Liona was already impressed by her, which made Jamie feel warm and light inside. It seemed, however, that her feelings were serving as nothing more than a distraction, and in the next few seconds, Jamie’s hand was promptly pushed against the table, so hard that she winced. Jamie smiled appreciatively at the carnie as he released her hand, but waited until she had turned around to start shaking out the pain that being slammed against a wooden table had caused her. Nothing was broken, but Jamie wouldn’t be surprised if her knuckles were a little bruised the next day. “I guess your kiss wasn’t lucky after all.” Jamie said with a teasing smile. “So, what do you want to do?” The Hufflepuff continued. When they had met previously, she had been nervous, and that had resulted in near silence, but it seemed now she was swinging to the other end of the spectrum, and was going to talk both of their ears off. Oh dear. “I saw some games, and some activities, and there’s a ton of food, and my brother offered to buy me cotton candy but I said no, and…” Jamie realized then that she was babbling, and shut her mouth, the tips of her ears turning slightly pink as she looked at Liona for some sort of guidance.

It wasn't even a few seconds after she stepped back from kissing Jamie that the match took an abrupt turn. The sound of Jamie's hand slamming down was loud and even Liona winced, knowing that pain had to be bouncing around her arm at that moment. Maybe that peck had been a bad idea after all. She gave a short applause anyway to both Jamie and the gentleman she went up against and then snickered as Jamie shook her hand from the pain. She did feel a little sorry about it but she couldn't help but find the way she'd waited until she'd turned away from him to do it. Jamie teased her then, saying that her kiss hadn't been lucky for her. "My kiss wasn't unlucky. You were just distracted by how cute I am," she beamed innocently before grinning. It was nice being able to be playful with her. It was so much better than the awkwardness of their first official meeting. Jamie then proceeded to ask what she wanted to do before talking about things she'd seen around the carnival she was interested in. Liona listened intently and nodded her head as she spoke when she stopped suddenly. Confused, Liona turned to her only to see that the tips of her ears had turned a bit pink. Was she being shy suddenly? She must of been worried about talking too much. Liona smiled then, turning to her fully. "I'll do anything. As long as you keep talking to me." It seemed really cheesy but she meant it. She liked hearing her talk. She took Jamie by the hand and continued walking. "You were saying?"

Jamie smiled at Liona when the Slytherin said that her kiss hadn’t been unlucky, but rather that Jamie had been distracted by it. “Likely.” She said with a teasing smile. There wasn’t any downside to admitting it – they were, after all, on a date, and generally, you went on dates with people who you liked, and who were able to distract you with something like a kiss. They continued to amble through the carnival, Jamie painfully aware of how much she had just been rambling. Liona said that she would do anything, as long as Jamie kept talking, and the Hufflepuff took a deep, slow breath. Liona prompted her to continue, and Jamie decided that she might as well, considering Liona already knew most of the story with her ambivalence surrounding her brother. “I just think about Elias more than I probably should.” Jamie admitted. “We’ve had a couple of conversations but I still feel like he’s expecting something from me. But I don’t know what it is, or how I can give it to him.” Part of Jamie worried that her brother was expecting an apology, when really, he was the one that should have been apologizing to her for acting like she was being selfish when she wouldn’t talk to him about idiotic things when her sister was lying on her deathbed. The Hufflepuff gave apologies freely, most of the time, because she knew that most of the time the apologies were warranted. But she wasn’t going to apologize for protecting Max from Maria, or for worrying more about Max dying than Elias’s fragile feelings. Jamie sighed and looked away from Liona for a moment, wishing that she could have chosen a happier topic of conversation.

Liona smirked at Jamie's agreement with her words. She hadn't need the Hufflepuff to tell her that she was cute but she definitely appreciated the compliment. And she was taking it as just that, a compliment. Once Liona had reassured Jamie, she worried that her date wouldn't continue with what she had been saying. Jamie then took a deep breath and she continued with what was really bothering her. Liona had thought her silence had just been about her fear of talking too much but it was more than that. She was worried about her relationship with her brother and as soon as she brought it up, Liona knew exactly what she was talking about. Jamie had divulged that she'd only gained her number of Greyback siblings recently and one of those had included the Durmstrang Champion, Elias Greyback. Liona remembered Jamie talking about him in their letters about how exasperated and overwhelmed she'd been with him as well as how they hadn't been getting along so well. Liona frowned as she mentioned him, wanting to agree with her about how she probably was thinking about thinking about him too much, but didn't do so outright. She wanted to tell her that she didn't owe him anything. But Liona didn't want her to think she was heartless as she'd done before. "You can't give him something he hasn't asked of you, Jamie so either he needs to ask for it or, yes, you are thinking about it too much," she stated instead. "As I said before. Take it easy, don't rush anything and just let what happens, happen. And if you don't have something to give, he can't take it." She couldn't give him something she didn't have and if she didn't have it in her to form a relationship with him, one like she had with other siblings, she didn't have to.

Jamie sighed a little when Liona began to speak, unsure whether it was because of relief or desperation. There were some days she wished that her other siblings had all-around positive relationships with each other like she did. She knew that Max mostly kept to herself and Odette and Adrian didn’t really get along, which meant that none of them felt the pressure to be nice to Elias in the same way that she did, because they didn’t necessarily have good relationships with all of their other siblings. Liona probably couldn’t understand it, either, because she only had one brother. Jamie wasn’t going to let that discount Liona’s advice, though, because it seemed like the other girl was trying to help, and what she was saying was true. Jamie didn’t owe Elias a relationship, especially when he seemed to be wanting her to do all of the work to make it happen and not trying to understand why she had reacted the way she had to the situation with Maria, and thereby him. At least her other siblings had been willing to meet her halfway – hell, Odette had come to her when things were at their worst, and that was how things had gotten better. “I just don’t want to spend the rest of my life wondering what could have been.” Jamie admitted. She didn’t want to think of Elias as the one sibling that had gotten away, not when she had so much love still to give to people. “That doesn’t matter now, though. What do you want to do?” Jamie asked, trying to move on from the subject so that she wouldn’t have to add Liona to her list of things that could have been because the one bad date ruminating about her brother chased the Slytherin away.

Jamie confessed that she didn't want to wonder what could have been and Liona nodded in understanding. She tried not to live with such regrets. Either the chance presented itself and she took it or she left it alone and forgot it all together, labeling it as not worth her time or knowing that it wasn't meant for her. She was certain that the Hufflepuff saw this differently because it was a sibling, someone she was supposed to be bonded to in a sense. If only she had prettier or more insightful advice to give. "It matters if it's bothering you but I'd rather try and distract you from it rather than push you to talk about it," she grinned teasingly, giving her hand a squeeze in support and letting go to walk ahead a little bit. They were a bit deeper into the throng of booths and she looked around for something interesting to do. She'd been to the carnival once or twice before then and had gotten to peruse a few of the areas. She'd had some of the food, which hadn't been as bad as she'd expected, and had participated in some of the games they'd had around, also not as bad as she'd expected. Just from standing where they were, Liona spotted the gigantic Ferris Wheel. "Would a ride on that thing help any," she motioned to the metal behemoth as she turned around to look at the pretty blonde. She actually really wanted to get on the ride and see how high up they would be. It was a little odd, considering they could jump on a broom and just as easily be just as high up as the Ferris Wheel but why not give it a try, to see if there were any noticeable differences. Minus being confined to a metallic cage of course.

Liona said that Jamie's feelings about her brother did matter, and the Hufflepuff forced herself to nod. She knew that her relationship with Elias did matter, but she was definitely in agreement that distracting herself would be the better course of action at the moment. Thinking herself in circles wasn't going to change anything in either direction unless and she her brother actually talked. Liona squeezed her hand, and Jamie was surprised by how much strength and comfort she gained by such a simple gesture. That was what loving someone should be like, Jamie decided - not always easy (because she and Liona hadn't gotten off to the best start by any means) but comfortable. Supportive. Warm. Jamie had trouble thinking of Elias as any of those things, but once again she forced herself to stop thinking about the Durmstrang Champion.
After they had wandered the booths for a while longer, something seemed to catch Liona's eye. When Jamie focused on the horizon, she understood why. The Ferris wheel was huge, and definitely eye catching. Liona asked if Jamie wanted to ride it. "It would certainly give us something else to talk about." Jamie said. "You're not afraid of heights or anything, are you?" Of course Jamie wasn't afraid of being up in the air, since she was a Quidditch player and the sport practically demanded that a participant be alright with being up high, but the Hufflepuff didn't want the Slytherin girl doing something she was uncomfortable with for Jamie's sake.

Liona laughed when Jamie stated that the Ferris Wheel would give them something else to discuss rather than her tumultuous relationships between her and her brother. The key to distraction was focusing on something else after all and Liona figured that a ride on the slow spinning attraction would provide that for them. "Heights don't bother me any. I actually want to ride it to see how different it feels rather than just riding a broom up into the air," she commented as she tilted her head to the side in curiosity, watching as the ride began another slow rotation. Obviously, Jamie wasn't afraid of heights; she was certain the Hufflepuff had probably been higher off the ground than the Ferris Wheel in a quidditch match or two. Then again the Ferris Wheel stood tall and seemingly touched the sky in the distance. "We just have to figure out how to..," Liona looked back and forth around the carnival, walking slightly forward to be able to see around a few booths before she spotted what she thought was the entrance to the Ferris Wheel. It was a short walk away from where they were standing. "I believe the line is just over that way. Is that a yes for the Ferris Wheel then? And then afterwards we can figure out what games we would like to play?" she spoke with a smile on her face, her hands clasped in front of her lightly. The more things they did, the less likely it was for her to think about the Durmstrang champion. Unless they ran into him of course. They would cross that bridge if they got there.
