CJ gritted her teeth as sharp brown eyes scanned over the letter grasped tightly in her hands. The parchment was close to tearing underneath her iron grip but the Lion didn't notice any of this as she read the same old argument she'd been having with her dad for close to five years now.
The Seeker was generally quite patient; she had to be, considering how infuriatingly over protective her dad could get sometimes; but even so, the man had a knack for knocking down her walls and triggering a temper with a surprisingly short fuse.
She was so absorbed by the letter that she sucked in a harsh breath when she accidentally collided with someone. Neither of them fell; it was more of a glance off their shoulders, but nevertheless, CJ released the breath she hadn't known she was holding and pushed her hair back, eyes going up to meet the guy's face.
"Sorry about that, mate," she apologized distractedly, realizing that she had no idea who the guy in front of her actually was. She held up the letter demonstratively. "My bad, got a little preoccupied."
@edmund Sorry this took so long, lovely!

Edmund had bad days and good days, just like everyone else, but today was worse than that. Today was a terrible day. First, it all started with him being in an original bad mood, though he did actually have a reason for that. The night before, he had a hard time sleeping and ended up going to sleep sometime between 3:30 and 4. So this morning, he naturally slept in ... past breakfast and his first class. Great. In fact, the only reason he woke up was because he got a letter from his mother and older brother. So he woke up to find that it was almost mid-day and that he'd skipped class. He'd get into trouble for that, he was sure.
He was trying to make it to lunch so he'd be ready to go to his next class, but he'd already missed half of lunch. Today was going to be a crap day. He was absolutely positive about that. Then he ran into someone. Or she ran into him. Either one or both. He wasn't really sure, but he didn't care. He was ticked. She apologized, but that didn't make it any better to him. "Maybe you should save reading letters for a time when you're not walking in the middle of a corridor," he growled, waving his unopened letter in front of the girl. Who read letters in a corridor anyway? That just sounded ridiculous.

CJ had a pretty solid level of patience. She was hardly ever ruffled, and she hardly ever gave herself a chance to react, at least not without thinking about it first. That being said, her patience was notoriously limited when she was already halfway into temper territory.
She was there. And the guy with the attitude had chosen precisely the wrong time to act like a jerk instead of a gentleman.
"Maybe you should save the diva act for someone who's intimidated by a kitten glower and a dramatic hand wave," she shot back coolly, her voice never losing its even edge. "But if we're going to waste time trading pointless advice, let me know so that I can leave before we start."
She was being harsh, maybe, but CJ was never one to allow herself to be pushed over, and that included letting people speak to her in any way that she wasn't totally comfortable with. She was all for sarcasm and banter, but not chastisement, she got enough of that from her dad.
Sighing lightly, the Lion roughly folded her stupid letter. Without checking to see his expression, she added in a slightly less frigid tone, "Oh, stop pouting, would you? We bumped into each other, so unless you're willing to take half the blame, I reckon we should just let it go."

Edmund glared at her. He was not in the right frame of mind to really be coming up with good retorts. He was too tired and angry and he really just didn't want to deal with people at all. So when the girl started getting angry back at him he rolled his eyes. "Go ahead and leave then," he encouraged, gesturing with his hands that she should just leave. "That way neither of us will have to put up with this crap." He could have made things easier between the two. There was always that choice but quite honestly today he wasn't in the mood to make good choices. Today he was the Ed from his past. The grouchy, grumpy slytherin that most people avoided. He'd liked being that way back then. Now he enjoyed making friends and getting along with people on most days. Today was not one of those days. He watched as she took the time to fold up her letter instead of moving out of his way. He could have walked around, but the corridor was crowded and he really just didn't feel like it. Then she told him to stop pouting and he glared. "Not pouting. Try looking at someone before you start telling them what their face looks like." He shook his head and focused on the crowd, moving to step into the crowd when he saw an opening. He wasn't going to put up with any of this crap. @rissa88 (Uhhhh ... sorry, didn't expect Ed to leave so soon. If you want, CJ can follow him or we can just time jump it to another time when they run into one another- and he's not in such a bad mood. Your choice!)

Merlin, talk about rude. What a git!
CJ fumed silently under her breath as the jerk stalked away, willing her temper to cool. She was a master of control, though, thanks to a lifetime of needing to hone such skills, so it only took a couple seconds before the Gryffindor was perfectly composed.
Whatever childhood problem had made that guy into such a prat, wasn't her problem to handle. Silently bidding the boy's parents the best of luck in the world, the Seeker turned around and set off briskly in the opposite direction, hoping to Merlin that she wouldn't have to encounter that guy again.
(@edmund - hahaha!! Totally okay lovely! It was actually quite amusing to have that happen to her! She'd definitely never chase after him, but I look forward to finding a way to ease them into friends!)
