Location: Hogwarts Library
Time: Start: 8 p.m. End: midnight
The library is much the same to accommodate those who didn't attend the dance because they don't like Halloween. For those who just don't dance and wanted to have some fun in a different way, there are games set up at a few tables in the main part of the library. Some refreshments and snacks have also been set up. The rest of the library has been decorated or put together by @tessrawlins.

Tess went fairly easy on her library decorations, knowing that most kids where coming here in order to avoid the craziness of Halloween. Tess really did love a good party, but she loved her library more and was completely willing to be with the kids who wanted to be there. She placed a few twinkling lights, some small pumpkins and played quiet music on her record player as she got the room ready for the students to arrive. It wasn't only the students that she was looking forward to seeing tonight. She had asked Petar if he would chaperone the library as well and, of course, he accepted. She just wondered when he would be here. Part of her wanted to be alone with him before all the students arrived. Not just a small part either. She shook the thought off, no point in dwelling on that thought. Still, would she have worn this dress and done her hair if it was only students coming into the library? Probably not. Though on the outside she tried to remain as casual and calm as ever with Petar, on the inside she was positively head over heels. outfit

Carcer wasn’t much for dance-heavy parties. Even if he didn’t attract severely unwanted attention at parties, Carcer lacked the grace and agility to really dance all that well. So when it was announced that every student was required to attend either the Halloween dance in the Great Hall, or the Halloween party in the library, he opted for the latter. It would be quieter, and much easier for him to avoid stares, with the great shelves piled high with books. And make no mistake, Carcer had been receiving a lot of stares. He attributed it to the costume his brother had convinced him to wear.
Currently, Carcer lay between two massive shelves, staring up at the high ceiling and wondering what had possessed him to let his brother have executive control over his costume. Carcer was dressed as a caveman. This meant that he was wearing what amounted to furry shorts with a strap going over his right shoulder. On the floor beside him was a club—a club the size of some seventh years, so heavy most people wouldn’t be able to lift it, but that Carcer himself had no trouble with. Outside of these and the wand sticking out of the furry loincloth thing, Carcer had nothing on, revealing most of his chest and all of his legs below the knee. Smooth skin stretched over massive, steel-hard muscles. Carcer had foregone shaving this morning, and this, along with the visible hair on his arms, legs, and chest, made him look scruffier than usual, which worked with the whole caveman costume. And while he didn’t have any problems with himself, he really was over being gawked at. Seriously, he had been tempted to walk over to a couple of girls earlier in the day and close their mouths for them. The costume wasn’t really so bad that they should be that shocked about it.

Alice wouldn't be caught dead outside of the library tonight. For one, she didn't necessarily care for Halloween that much aside from the old wise tales. Secondly, Alice despised parties and balls with all of her heart. She would sooner rather fight with a blast ended skrewt than attend a school dance. So tonight, Halloween, her only obvious option was to spend the evening in the library. And as far as she knew, she would be doing it alone. Sure there would be other students, but Alice didn't think any of her real friends would be spending the evening in the library. They all liked dances. So that meant Alice would be alone, but that was the way she preferred it anyway.
Not wanting to see everyone arriving to the dance in the Great Hall, Alice had delayed her trip to the library as long as possible. She ended up having to be escorted by a professor, as she had left the common room past eight and therefore needed "protection" according to the two male Aurors in the Great Hall. Alice had rolled her eyes at this, thinking a lot of this extra security was a little silly. Once in the library they wouldn't be allowed out. How were they to use the restroom? Or to go to bed? Unfortunately, it was required she either be in the Great Hall at the dance or in the library tonight. Looks like she would be staying up quite a while.
The professor stopped just in front of the library doors and opened them to let Alice inside. She simply nodded a thank you and stepped inside. It seemed that the librarian, Professor Rawlins, had kept the decorations quite simple, thankfully. This eased Alice a little. With a sigh, Alice figured she might as well get herself comfortable for the night and claim her table. She walked past the students in the main part of the library who had brought games to play and headed for her favorite secluded part of the library. She rolled her eyes up at the ceiling as she passed her fellow students, having fun in the library. This was a place for quiet, for Merlin's sake. Another sigh escaped the Longbottom's lips before she stopped abruptly between two shelves of books and stared down at the sight in front of her. Very slowly, a smile appeared on the shy Hufflepuff's face.
Carcer. So it looked like Alice would have a friend in the library tonight. And it was Carcer, whom very recently Alice had discovered was a very easy and friendly person to talk to. She found she could really be herself around him. That was hard for Alice to find in other people. She looked down at the half giant as he seemed to be staring up at the ceiling. He was wearing what appeared to be furry shorts and beside him lay a large club that was as big as Alice. Alice couldn't help but let out a little laugh. Carcer was dressed as a caveman.
Quietly, Alice walked around her fellow Hufflepuff and leaned over him in his line of sight. "Ugga ugga," she said in a low voice, stifling a giggle as she did so.

To be honest, even if his father was going to make an appearance in the Great Hall, Philip wasn't all that hype about dressing up in a costume as he had done when he was a child. He was seventeen now and the idea of playing dress up didn't appeal to him much. Granted, there were pretty cool costumes out there, but it still seemed childish to him. He did like Halloween somewhat, though, but more about what the holiday was about then pretending to be someone or something else. Therefore, when he learned aobut the little library party, Phil decided that it was worth attending and checking out. After all, he didn't want to completely miss out on the festivities.
Philip had entered the library in a regular t-shirt, pair of jeans, and sneakers. Upon entering, he found that the library was decently decorated for Halloween, so he definitely wasn't missing out on anything. There were few people occupying the room full of books. There was the nicely dressed librarian, who Philip simply smiled at. And then there was his sister and another Hufflepuff, who Philip recognized as Carcer Hagrid, a half-giant. Seriously, he was huge., and that caveman outfit, however ridiculous Philip found it, suited his barbarian appearance (no offense intended). Alice seemed to be enjoying Carcer's company.
Phil hesitated for a moment. Alice was his sister, but their relationship had been somewhat strained from their early childhood. He got along better with her now, but it was his brother's company that he truly enjoyed. But Alice was still his sister and the person he was closest to out of all the people in the library, so Philip ended up walking toward her and Carcer.
He approached the two Hufflepuffs when Alice was giggling about something to Carcer. There were times when Philip thought that it was annoying that his sister got a long better with random students than she did with him, but right now he was feeling casual. "Hey guys," he said with light smirk on his face. "None of us are enthusiastic about the Great Hall, huh?" His eyes scanned Carcer with an appraising glance for a moment. "Nice costume. It...suits you." Phil thought it was pretty stupid, but he kept that to himself, of course. Turning to Alice with a raised eyebrow, he said, "You know, Dad's down there in case you wanted to join him."

When his best friend had asked Petar to chaperone the library during the Halloween dance, he couldn't refuse. Petar had never liked dances as a young man, so he felt for the students that shared that same feeling. He liked to be there for the more quiet students; the underdogs, if you will. But that wasn't the only reason he had agreed to be in the library on this Halloween night.
Petar's best friend, Marguerite, was the librarian and it just so happened that Petar was head over heels in love with her. So of course he was going to take any extra opportunity he could to spend time with her! Even if it wasn't alone time like he wanted it to be, it was still time together. Students in the library tonight were up for a real treat when they get a look othe way Professor Kovachev, the stubborn and sten Potions Master, lights up at the sight of the school librarian.
Petar made his way to the library at a quick pace, his dark forest green robes bellowing behind him. He was actually excited! When he reached the doors, he let himself in and saw that some students had already arrived. That's when he saw Marguerite. She was in a ravishing dress and she had done her lovely red locks. Petar couldn't fight the small smile that automatically appeared on his face when he saw her. She looked beautiful an he only wished he had the true courage to tell her.
Ignoring the few students in the room, Petar walked right on up to Tess, his smile widening when he was close enough to her. He didn't mean to, but Petar had stopped less than a foot away from her but he wasn't even thinking about that. "Happy Halloweene," he muttered a little sarcastically through his smile.

Tess noticed Carcer, the caveman walk in, but he veered off in between some nearby shelves. It was close enough that Tess would be able to see where he was if she decided to walk past and make sure everything was okay. She had left the lights on, even though they were down low, in most of the library in case students wanted to browse. She didn't want the kids getting too far from the designated area, however, but she knew that some students knew their way around. Plus, if they wanted to come talk to her they always knew they could. At least that's what she tried to convey.
A few other students trickled in and settled with their friends, some waving and greeting Tess briefly. When Phillip Longbottom came in he seemed to be not sure of where to go. He hung around for a moment until Alice, his sister, came in late, Tess wondered what her father would think of that. She headed the direction that the other Hufflepuff had. Then the Gryffindor boy followed.
Tess saw Petar from across the room somewhere in the small bundle of students and tried to contain the smile on her face. She knew the children would notice the slight curl in his lips when they made eye contact. Oh heavens, what were those kids thinking? That thought drove her smile away for a moment but it only came back when his smile widened as he closed in on her. She shook her head and rolled her eyes, "Didn't you know? Werewolves love Halloween," she chuckled. Truly, she didn't mind it that much. But it was a little weird when kids dressed up as her alter ego. She thought of about a hundred things she wanted to do in that moment. Step closer to him, bite her lip, bat her eyelashes. She was feeling extremely girly in this dress with her hair all done. Snap out of it, she tried telling herself. "It's pretty low key in here. Just some games and some light music. Won't be as fun as downstairs. I'm sure you'd just love a dance party," she couldn't help but smirk at him teasingly.

He could hear the chatter of students throughout the library. It was…odd, to say the least. This place was normally so quiet. Miss Rawlins wasn’t super strict about making absolutely no noise at all, but she wouldn’t allow students to disrupt others’ studies. He’d never heard so much conversation, and never from so far away. The library had a slight echo to it, and there was…a pressure, of sorts. Very light, but it was as though something was watching their party. And he recalled hearing something about the books in the Restricted Section being at least partly sentient….hmm. Was it wrong that out of all the things he’d seen magic do, the idea of being given the evil eye by a book was the creepiest? ….well, his dad’s old Monster Book of Monsters had given him the evil eye too, but in a more literal sense.
His vision of the ceiling was suddenly obscured, long blonde tresses and a happy grin as Alice Longbottom leaned over him. Carcer smiled on reflex when he saw her. “Ugga ugga.” She was clearly trying not to laugh at him. Carcer responded with an exaggerated, overly long grunt. “In the library on party night? If I didn’t know better, Alice, I’d say you weren’t much for crowds,” he shot back, reaching up to poke her on the tip of her nose. His hand hesitated, visited by a sudden urge to run fingers along the blonde’s cheek, before movement caught his eye and he let his hand fall back down. Probably just as well…he wasn’t really sure what he was going to do. His thought process had shut down, and for Carcer it was...unusual…for him to blank out.
The movement turned out to be a person, none other than Philip, Alice’s younger brother, whom Carcer’s brother had described as a knight straight out of history, with all the good and bad of being one in the modern day. “Nice costume. It...suits you.” Carcer arched an eyebrow and sat up, putting his back against the bookshelves to where he could look at both of the Longbottoms reasonably close to eye level. “You know, my brother said the same thing to me when he picked it out. You managed to keep a straight face when you said it though, not a single giggle.” He shrugged, but smiled as he looked at the siblings. Their dad was at the costume ball? Huh. Wonder what kind of costume he’d be wearing…maybe Philip knew? “Did he dress up? Your dad never really struck me as a party person.” Case in point: he raised two people that were here in the library instead of there at the party.
….though that might not mean much. Mom and Dad would jump at the chance to dress up and part the crowd while they went around the dance floor.
