Honestly, although she was a Ravenclaw - it wasn't as common for Quinn to make her way into the Library. It wasn't that she didn't like the Library, truthfully she found the place of some comfort and relaxation. But it was nothing compared to finding a nice spot, usually under a tree - outside for her to study or do her homework. Today though, her plans had fallen through as the skies decided to open up and pour down, she loved the rain - but not when she needed to use some books and study. There was no way she'd risk ruining these books to spend some time outside. So instead she made her way to the library, bag over her shoulder filled to the brim with her books and other things. Maybe if she got her studying done she could do a few sketches before having to head down to get something to eat.
The idea of being able to put aside her studying for even a small amount of time to relax and focus on some drawing put a tiny skip in her steps, at shcool she was free - for the most part, to do what she wanted. She took her studies pretty seriously, but as soon as they were done - she could have time for herself. Stepping into the library her shoulders relaxed, allowing a small smile to curl up onto her lips as she took in the familiar smell - books were a comfort, never changing - always accepting and never judging.
But now she was here, green eyes darted around trying to find a place to settle down with her books and papers. She had come for a quiet, comfortable place - but the idea of being alone... it didn't sound like a very great idea to her right now. Maybe she could find someone who wouldn't try and talk to her a whole lot, maybe some quiet company. Her eyes looked around before settling on a somewhat familiar figure - she recognized the girl, a Hufflepuff in her same year. She couldn't remember her speaking up much in class - one of the quieter shy types who usually would duck their head to avoid a teacher paying attention, she understood the later part of that.
She was sure her name started with an F maybe, but she didn't know her too well - still she was quiet, but seemed nice enough, so it wasn't too hard to make herself over to where the other blonde girl was, offering a small smile as she placed her hand against the heavy table. "Hi." She quietly offered up a small greeting, nodding towards the rest of the table, "Do you mind if I join you? I promise not to bother you much.. but, I'd prefer to sit with someone while I finish off some studying.. Is that okay?"

Fiona sat in the library, someplace that she visited frequently. The Hufflepuff loved books. She always had. She began to read at a very young age and had read countless, hundreds of novels since. She felt more productive around books, like she wanted to impress them and she wanted them, the inanimate objects to see that she was worthy of being in their company. She wanted to join the ranks of the well education. She planned on becoming a healer and she hoped that her education, test scores and goals would reflect her goals and career objectives. Fiona was a very hard worker and appreciated people who had a similar desire to get good marks and aimed high in their goals and desires.
While she sat there, studying History of Magic at one of the wooden tables in the library, a girl approached her table and asked if she could sit with her. The Hufflepuff looked up and recognized the girl as someone in her year and in a lot of her classes. A Ravenclaw, if she recalled correctly. "Yes, please, sit." Fiona insisted. She wasn't someone who was very good at studying with other people, but just sitting silently with another person who was studying also probably wouldn't be too bad. "Let me get my Herbology book out of your way there." The Hufflepuff whispered, moving her book from across the table. She had spread out a little before she had someone to share with.

Quinn's mind wandered a little as her eyes gaze around the Library, rowing up with the life she had, unlike most children - at least those in the Muggle world, she wasn't too sure if it was the same for the Wizarding world - but she hadn't had money for things like fancy toys and cool gadgets. Instead Quinn had found most of her fun either exploring or reading books - often the books had been worn and old - if she was lucky there would be no pages missing. The Library at Hogwarts reminded her a lot of those same times as a child when she got a 'new' book, her hands gently turning each page as she would sit up late at night with a tiny torch, hidden under her blankets hoping to finish just 'one more chapter' before sleeping.
A small smile remains on her face as she stands by the table - glad that the other girl had allowed her to sit. Sure she could have sat almost anywhere else - there were other tables even completely free. But, maybe being alone wasn't so great - and from what she had seen, the Hufflepuff girl wasn't often seen with many other people. Maybe they could both use a little company. After a moment she pulls out a chair across from the other blonde - offering a small smile of thanks when she moves her book, "Thank you. Are you Revising or just homework?" Quinn asked the question quietly, it was a habit she had picked up from when she was a smaller child - often seeking some escape in a Muggle Library nearby, they had been more strict on keeping quiet in Libraries than anywhere else she had been in her life.
Carefully she pulls out her own books and things from her bag, taking extra care as she pulls out one of her smaller sketch books and pencils - placing them to the side for now as she sighs and stares at her Potions Book, of all her subjects - which she did pretty okay in - Potions was her worst and the one that despite everything.. for some reason she always kept it until last. Her lips press together before flipping the book open, her hands careful as she turned the pages of the old book until she found where she was meant to study.

The girl that Fiona kind of knew sat down with her and began pulling out her own books, which was to be expected since they were in the library, a place where most people came to either study or work on assignments for class. She knew some people came here for fun, she was one of them. She loved just being around books, however, this wasn’t one of those times. And, she expected it wasn’t one of those times for a lot of students as final exams were drawing nearer, and so were both the OWL and the NEWT examinations. While Fiona felt confident that she’d pass all of her subject, she wasn’t entirely immune to the concern and anxiety that was taking over the students in her year. The girl, as she got comfortable, asked Fiona what she was working on. “Oh, just, uh, revising for History of Magic. I’m not great with History, it’s one of my harder subjects.” she admitted in hushed tones that were expected when conversing in the library.
Fiona wasn’t one for small talk and got really anxious when talking to strangers, however, this girl wasn’t really a stranger. They had been in lessons together since they started and they were in the same year. So, in a particularly brave feeling moment, Fiona extended her hand across the table to the other blonde girl. “We’re in a lot of subjects together, aren’t we? I’m Fiona, by the way.” she introduced herself with a surprisingly normal smile.

Quinn knew the other girl, maybe not overly well but over the past several years they had shared almost every class together - but rarely actually spoken all that much. Even still, Quinn knew a bit about the other girl - knowing enough to know that she was kind, nice and rather quiet. All things that Quinn liked really. It made her wonder how come they hadn't spoken more in the past but perhaps this would give her a chance to change that. Now though - she did need to work on some revising - particularly for her Potions and History of Magic. She usually didn't find it hard to get into the groove of studying and if she was honest... sometimes she enjoyed it. But Quinn also knew that too much of it could just make everything harder and a whole lot more stressful.
"Oh," she spoke up, chuckling softly - mindful of being in the library, before pulling out her History of Magic book, "I need to do that too - well and a bit of Potions. History is more... frustrating to me if I'm honest - all the dates and names... it gets a bit lost in my head sometimes." Quinn shrugged, offering a faint smile. Even back when she attended muggle school before coming to Hogwarts - History had been a bit of a struggle for her. While she was smart - remembering all the dates and names just didn't always stick in her head, it had once been her worst subject and even though now she was more interested in the Magical kind of History - it was still History at the core and those dates just went into her head and ended up lost among everything else going on.
Quinn's face lit up when the other girl introduced herself, mentally pleased she had at least correctly remembered the girls name had started with an F. Carefully she held her own hand out, lightly grasping Fiona's hand in her own and giving the smallest shake, "We are, like.. almost all my classes from the last few years. Nice to offically meet you Fiona.. I'm Quinn." After a moment she let go and sat back in the chair with a tiny sigh, "I suppose I should get started..." she eyed her books with a slightly disappointed look, it was necessary and she knew that well.

Fiona couldn’t agree more with the girls description of why she didn’t care of History of Magic class. And she nodded with what the girl said to show her agreement. While Fiona was normally very good about memorizing things and studying, she just found the subject incredibly dull and none of the facts were ever able to stick in her head for longer than it took to pass a test or write an essay. “It’s just nowhere near as exciting as any of the other subjects, is it?” she smiled, nodding. The girl agreed that they were in almost all of the same classes over the past few years and Fiona gave a quiet, library appropriate laugh. Of course they had been, she was sure they had even been partners on an assignment at one point a few years ago. Teachers liked to pair kids up randomly. A part of her was sure it was because teachers wanted to see how certain pairs would get along for their own amusement. She introduced herself as Quinn and Fiona made a mental note to finally remember that, it would be nice to add the girl to one of the potential people she’d be willing to sit by in classes. Fiona got very awkward if she sat next to people whom she wasn’t so sure about. After their hand shake, the girl insisted that she should probably get to work, “Oh yeah, and hey, I’m pretty good at potions, so if you need any help, let me know.” she said, remembering that Quinn had said she had a bit of potions to do.

Quinn gave a small laugh, careful to keep her voice down while in the library. She loved the quiet of the place, but a little company sure helped to ease it from being 'too' quiet. It was nice to talk to someone, and perhaps making a new friend was also a tiny bonus that might happen. "True, I've just never been too good at remembering places and dates too well - and well.. its not the most interesting of subjects.. which I'm sure that some of my house mates might try to curse me for saying." the tiny grin on her face was a slightly teasing one - although she was pretty sure she knew at least one or two Ravenclaws who might actually do such a thing - not to harm her of course but still.
It was a little odd that they hadn't really spoken much before, Fiona was nice enough - and she seemed smart too. Pretty much what Quinn looked out for in a friend, yet she was sure she could recall at least once or twice speaking to her - only for a class related thing though. Maybe it was time to change that, she offered another small smile as she flicked open one of her books, the offer for help making her nod, "Careful I might take you up on that - its not my best subject.. but clearly not my worst as well," she nodded to the History book before pulling a face, "But hey - maybe we can help each other a little, what else do you need to work on?"

Fiona was glad to have met someone who shared her feelings about History of Magic. She felt like most people were 50/50 on the subject, but, those who really loved it sometimes got offended when people said that they didn’t love it, and she was glad that this wasn’t one of those situations. However, Fiona felt that people were like that over every subject, everyone deemed different subjects to be more important than other subjects and everyone was entitled to their own opinions. Fiona put equal importance on every subject, but that didn’t mean that she appreciated every subject, she just liked seeing top marks on all of her reports. And she knew her parents appreciated it too, even if they weren’t entirely sure what she was learning, exactly. “I know what you mean.” she admitted when her desk partner said that she was sure some others of Ravenclaw house might firmly disagree with her on the topic. Fiona smiled when the girl said that she might actually take her up on her offer to help, she didn’t mind, it was nice. She, as someone who wanted to be a healer, had to be good at potions. She found potions and herbology to be her favorite subjects. “Um, not much else for tonight. I try to work at least a week ahead so I can time assignments out and only have one or two subjects to study per day.” she admitted, knowing how much of a dork it made her look like.

Quinn did enjoy her classes, mostly - and she always did her best on each of them when it came to the actual work and homework. Although some classes made it easier to focus and do her best while others were a bit of a struggle to actually work on. Such as History of Magic... sure okay some of it was interesting. Most of it wasn't and remembering dates and places was a struggle - she forced herself to get started to be able to finish it, but she still tried to always do her best - even if she didn't have parents waiting to hear about her grades and stuff - she wanted to do her best for herself. That was the more important thing after all - wasn't it? To do your best for yourself.
She would likely take up the offer regardless. Fiona was a nice girl and she was enjoy their light - and quiet talking as she began to read over what she had to study up on. "Yeah - I know what you mean, I try to do that myself but.. sometimes I just keep up with what we are doing.. it depends on the class though." she offered a small grin and shrugged her shoulders - as a Ravenclaw it was honestly more expected for her to be at least a little ahead of what was being taught, sometimes though she wondered about her house selection even if Ravenclaw fit her pretty well as it was. "You might just be a good influence on me working ahead." She gently commented, teasing just slightly as she leaned back in her chair a little.
@fiona [Omg I just saw I hadn't replied to this - we can work on ending it if you want!]
